This shop is honest. Its workers are fast and professional. Its owner is courteous.
I had an issue here where my car did not pass smog because the last number of my cat was read incorrectly (an innocent mistake). I initially believed this was because they wanted me to fail, since I had never been here before. I had the BAR inspect the issue and they confirmed that it was simply an innocent mistake from the shop. Because the BAR found nothing negative about this place (big bonus for them imo), and the professionalism of its workers which I experienced other than the misread number and because of the very kind letter from Speedy Smog's owner, I am reversing my original review to read 5 stars.

came in to this place through recommendation. 1st time here.
pro:
clean waiting room
girl at counter was nice and helpful
fast service. (only there about 25-35 minutes).
reasonable prices. 50 dollars for my vehicle because it's under a certain year or it would have been 40 for newer models
con:
they no longer give you a 10 dollar discount for checking in on social media.
oh and my fingernails got shorter waiting for the smog results.

Ended up here last week after waiting for the guy who runs the smog test next never showed after waiting nearly an hour. As I was walking in to this place a man pulled up to have his car smogged and literally ran in front of me to get his car done first. I told the employee that I had been waiting for nearly 40 m8nutes for them to open but he said nothing other than I'd be next. He ended up telling the other customer that he needed to go to a "star" approved smog center and the guys storms off and drives off with the hood raised on his car . He started inputting my info into their computer and proceeds to tell me the same thing....he tells me that he can't smog check my car because I need to go to a smog test center that is "star" approved. I asked him, aren't you certified to do smog and he said yes but they are in the process of being receertified... how in the he'll does a business where their sole job is to smog vehicles fail to get their recertification until after it expires. I sat there waiting for him to open for 40 minutes to get smog done first and another 20minutes for him to tell me he can't smog my vehicle. Never going back here again...poor service

I showed up and there was only one person ahead of me, the woman in the office told me it would be a 10 minute way then my car would also take 10 minutes...the shops name does not lie! I was in and out of there. Being 9 months pregnant and in this Bakersfield heat, I didn't want to sit around and wait long, so it was great that I was in and out of there!! The price is great too, it was only $47.00 including the certificate needed for the DMV, and what's even better is that they send that form electronically to the DMV so that you don't have to step foot there and just get your tags mailed to you. They also offer and only coupon which is nice. I will definitely come here again and recommend this shop to my friends and family.

Believe the other reviews here on Yelp about Speedy Smog. I have never ever had a smog completed in under 15 minutes from beginning to end! All polite and efficient employees, doing their work and not socializing. Great price and love that they have a website with their special coupons linked to Yelp. $47 total today price in such a short time. Thank you!

These guys were speedy indeed!! We called while driving about reviewing the Internet reviews on a Saturday. We then drove over and they had us out of there within minutes. We also were needing our other vehicle tested. We drove over and again were done in minutes. Next year we'll be back!

Speedy smog is awesome! I had an appointment with the shop next door to them. I arrived for my appointment (on time) and the shop was still closed! Well long story short, speedy smog got me a better deal, and got me right in! The staff was very friendly and knew what they were doing! I recommend them to any one needing a smog!!

Alternator problems. Over charging my battery. It was under warranty by O'Reilly Auto parts, which was honered.
Ken did all the leg and phone work. Alternator was changed out, car was inspected and ready by closing.
I just listen to what he tells me is wrong with my car, he is not there to rip me off.

Walked in on a Friday afternoon with our 1989 motorhome and they not only were able to smog our "older than 2000" motorhome but it was done in 45 minutes. Love these people. Beware of lots of smog check places that can only smog vehicles 2000 and newer.

Speedy Smog is a well run shop that not only does smog checks but has some very talented owners, managers and mechanics. They will take on almost any mechanical issue and do it right and for a very fair price. Carmen the owner is great to work with and they'll even give you a ride to work or deliver your vehicle to you.

I forgot to get a smog check before I went to renew my car tags, it was already 3:30pm and I was worried the DMV was going to close before I could get it done. These guys got me in and out quick and I even found a smog check coupon on their website!

I asked the female manager at this place (Or perhaps owner?) if she could beat the other 4 guys prices on the same parking lot. She yelled at me at the top of her lungs and I just stood there watching this lady freak out. I kinda couldn't help but to laugh and tell her to breath. Her workers all started laughing at her and I saw this lady has no respect from her employees nor customers. I went to medias on the same lot and they gave me a deal. :)
I see it was her that was the owner. If you read her reply to this review, you can see what kind of person she is.

I have taken both of my cars into Speedy Smog for smog and repair. They are knowledgeable, honest, and their prices are fair. I am poor and my cars are 17 years old, but they are paid for. I do my own auto maintenance, but when the job is too big for me I go to speedy smog. They keep my cars on the road. The word is out on this place so they are busy, but it's worth the wait.

Came here on a Monday morning on a time constraint and I was taken care of immediately. They performed a smog check in around 20 minutes and I was on my way.
The nice soft-spoken gentleman that took care of my car gave a $10 discount so I paid $46 for my smog check. I would definitely recommend.

This shop is one that I have no problem referring friends and relatives too as they not only have good prices but more importantly are great mechanics. I have had my vehicles smogged there for years and when I had the engine in my truck go out I had them replaced it as well and am very happy with their work. When it comes to getting anything on my cars done I take them the Speedy Smog.

I brought in my Honda with a BAR certified motor swap and other CARB legal modifications and they didn't freak out and say they didn't want to do it like most other shops i had been too, they took their time to make sure everything was legit and proceed to Smog it. will continue to go here and recommend them to others!

Dropped off my car in the late morning for a water pump timing belt and thermostat. Got a call that it was ready to be picked up about noon the next day. Given how busy the shop was and the speedy turn around I was a little hesitant to believe it was done and no corners were cut. Got it home (40 miles) with no more cooling issues. Lifted the hood everything was done and cleaned up nicely. Overall I'm very impressed with the work quality and the staff. Bill sat down with me and listened to my list of concerns then went to work. I wasn't blown off halfway through telling what the cars doing like so many shops. Thanks guys and girl for a good job great price and speedy turn around time.
