These guys are awesome. We all hate to spend money on auto repair, but we also forget how reliable the modern car is. I put over 800 miles per week on my Toyotas and completely trust Phil's in their work. Much better than the local Toyota dealer (and there is nothing wrong with our dealer). Take care of your car and it will take care of you.

The most overly priced place to get your car worked on in hemet. The guys at Phil will take advantage of you. Don't be a fool, just go else where and get your car worked on.

Apparently my last review was considered spam and sent to the "not recommended" pile, so here is an updated version.
My experience at Phil's Auto Clinic was one that I would like to help others avoid.
The summary is that a simple brake change was going to cost me somewhere in the quadrupedal digits, which is unacceptable.
I found myself doing the job myself for less than a quarter of their asking price. There are several places in Hemet that will service your brakes for much less than these people let alone solving an actual car issue.
One thing that was infuriating was the fact that an inspection of the car, which other places will do for free, cost money. Off to a great start here.
Next, they tried to change parts of my car that weren't broken. Clearly, they thought I knew nothing of my car or automobiles in general and were following the generic mechanic stereotype of overcharging for a service that really isn't that complicated; in this case it was a simple brake change.
Here is the best part though. Auto repair places anywhere will give you a receipt explaining how much labor and parts cost individually. The good people down at Phil's Auto Clinic tried to sell me brakes that cost a triple digit number...for just the front brakes. Now, you can argue that they were buying very good brakes, or that they were including some sort warranty, but rest assured, these people were attempting to take me for the proverbial, "ride."
So far we have: dishonesty, thievery, and something I did not mention was rude service. That's right, down at Phil's Auto Clinic you will get your moneys worth in lip, which is free with any overpriced purchase you attempt to make there. No need for detail, but rudeness to an unsuspecting customer is never appreciated, nor is it gentlemanly when making a rather pricey transaction.
To sum everything up:
Service-bad
Helpfulness-bad
Price- HA!
Would not recommend Phil's Auto Clinic if it was the last auto repair place in town. Would rather push my broken down car to the next town over.

I have been going to philip's for a few years now and just wanted to share that I am always 100% satisfied with their work, customer service and price. I have taken both of my vehicles for regular services and also when issues have occurred. They truly care about the work they do and their customers.

I live in apple valley, california. It was hard to find any place close by that works on prius vehicles, my wife found Phil's on the internet. I thought Sure, I'll try Phil's auto clnic & see.
I took my 2006 toyota prius to Phil's auto clinic. This was regarding my hybrid battery. I wanted the Original Prius Battery fixed, Phil's told me they would replace the bad cells on my battery.
Instead they replaced my original battery with a generic battery, they had at their shop. Which I was not informed this was done.
A few months later, my wife & I went to John Elway toyota dealership in Ontario, California. This was to repair a few things on the car.
The Tech from toyota, told me that the battery was having issues, & I would need to get it fixed, before any work could be done on the car.
I, then said that I went to Phil's Auto Clinic in Hemet & the battery was replaced.
Next, the toyota Tech said "That's to bad, if you had the original battery it is still under warranty & we could replace it for free".
I suspect I was charged $3,500 for the battery, but Phil's traded in the battery to toyota for $3,000.
When you first to go to Phil's they are very kind & friendly.
When I then asked them issues regarding my prius, they should have known, but they had no idea what they were talking about.
I would not go back to Phil's for anything.

I have been going to Phil's for just over a year they service both my cars. It is nice having an alternate to Toyota to work on my Prius. Brought it in on a Friday for a quick diagnostic review they handed me a quote and performed a semi major repair and I was back on the road for a few bucks less that the estimate. They were even kind enough to wait around on a Saturday (bike ride took a bit longer then expected) for me to pick up my other car that was there getting smog and oil change performed. I will return and recommend those needing Prius work in the Valley to at least give them a shot!

Phil's Auto is great!! These other two reviewers are stupid about cars. My husband and I have had Phil's Auto Clinic do all of our cars and our kid's cars. We have never had a problem, but them again we drive our cars for ever and keep them well maintained....thanks to Phil's. When our children visit from Colorado....they always want appointments to get things done because they want it done right the first time.....and any work they do is guaranteed. They had funky problems with my AC and kept after it (free) until it was solved. Great place if you are the type of person who takes care of your car.

My pregnant wife went there to fix her radiator and A/C. They fixed the Radiator and bumbled the A/C when we took it back the next day for the A/C they wanted more money to diagnose it!! My father in law even found a knife in the engine compartment. And Im not talking pocket knife it was at least a six inch rusty rambo knife! So we took our car to Nissan dealer and they fixed our A/C by charging the system and plugging it in, Thanks Phil!! Total cost $40.00 for the A/C charge! Now the radiator $350 at phils to install and purchase it, two years later I took my car in and the radiator had a un fixable leak that was caused by metal fatigue by either the manufacturer or by the mechanic over tightening it. Yeah Phil's was cheap and it was awesome to find it that cheap but now I know why! When I called Phil's the answered the phone while they were talking to a customer didn't greet me and finally after 30 sec said yeah what can I do for you? I asked to speak to the manager and he said yeah what do you want!!! Really???? I told him my problem with the radiator and he snickered and said its been two years the warranty has expired what do you want me to do? I told him what the dealership told me and he said ok what do you want? I just was curious about the warranty if any because the dealership said after market radiators usually have a 5 year to total replacement warranty. I guess not at Phil's it was only two years. So now I payed a little more for a new radiator with a lifetime warranty parts and labor included.
My suggestion to you is go to phil's if you want a cheap quick fix but know they will not be friendly when you return for warranty issues unless your willing to pay more! Save your money and go spend a little more at a dealership or a garage with a little more class and dignity.

My 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid has 200k miles on it. Its hybrid battery has been out of commission for the last 40k miles (the check engine light and IMA lights have been engaged this entire time) but has operated fine. Well, this year when renewing my registration I was told I needed a SMOG check for the first time. Got the car SMOG'd only to find out a check engine light = automatic fail. I went to the Honda dealership and asked if they could disengage the light or something, considering the code triggering the light (P1600) had NOTHING to do with emissions. They said my options were A. Pay $3500 to get a replacement battery or B. trade the car in. NICE SCAM YOU'VE GOT GOING THERE HONDA. Especially rich because at the time of the purchase, the dealer said after the battery dies the car can be operated as a gas-powered car. Using this BS loophole in California's SMOG check, Honda coerced me into replacing the battery (which costs about the same as the value of the car). Anyway I found Phil's on Ebay after looking for a less expensive option. The battery included new cells (Honda uses refurbished), was $1300 cheaper, and comes with a 2 year warranty. I was not intending to replace the battery but being forced to, Phil's auto clinic was a good choice. Took about 3 hours, and he was able to SMOG the car after installing the battery. I would like to note that my mileage has not increased as much as I had anticipated. On gas I got about ~19 in the city and ~34 on the freeway. Now I get ~24/38. Still, this is around the EPA MPGs. Overall I'm satisfied, happy I wasn't forced to junk my car and also glad I didn't have to give the cons at Honda any money. Will not be buying Honda again. Would recommend Phil's Auto Clinic for a hybrid battery replacement.

Incompetence is what comes to mind, $800.00 bill for a part that cost $60.00 I brought it in for stalling they fixed that with the $ $60.00 part the other problem was a transmission problem couldn't tell me the problem just get a new transmission so asked if a service would help? maybe or maybe not was the answer ! they did the service made no difference !! The most expensive and incompetent repair shop around. The car left there running worse than when we brought it in, didn't even make into town took it to Aamco they diagnosed the problem within 1/2 hr for FREE !! Don't take your car to Phils unless you have a lot of $ to lose and have another car to drive !!

Recently, my 2001 Honda Insight (hybrid) went completely haywire and was not sure that I wanted to put the money into saving my little gas miser. I finally decided to have it taken to Phil's Auto Clinic in Hemet (which was 60 miles from my location); what a blessing it was! The service was incredible! As soon as the car was delivered (by tow truck) they were right on it and had diagnosed and priced in a short time. I was extremely pleased with the price of the installed, rebuilt (hybrid) battery and had additional repair items done. When I picked up my car, I was pleased to see that the customer and shop areas were as professional and manicured as any dealer that I have been to. Additionally, I spent quite a bit of time with Bryan and Phil, asking questions, to which they were happy to answer. I would recommend Phil's Auto Clinic to anyone; especially if you are having any problems with your hybrid. Take care and God bless! :)

I have never actually had MY car repaired by Phil's auto clinic. I have, however, sent many, many vehicles to this establishment to have repairs made and every time the staff has been exceptional, the repairs are done at the highest standards and never can I say a person I sent over there was taken advantage of. Personally, I have been working as an automotive technician for almost 20 years. I have worked for Toyota for 11 years, worked in independent shops for four years and now work for a local municipality and school district. Phil was one of my teachers when I was first out of high school going to college. Phil has held many classes at his facility to teach professional technicians what/how a system works. He is the top of the technician class and his staff is expected to be in the same class. I cannot say enough good things about this man and his establishment. His reputation with other technicians speaks for itself. He is the guy we send vehicles to that no one else can fix. He is who we send our mom to when we want her vehicle fixed correctly, in a timely manner and without the worry of her being taken care of. I wrote this review today because I was outright shocked at some of the reviews I read on Google about his establishment. The only thing I can assume about the negative reviews would be that the customers had unrealistic expectations or are just plain ignorant. Sure, Phil's is not the cheapest place out there, but you will not find a better overall establishment, not even at the dealership. And that is coming from a guy who worked at the dealer for 11 years.... Phil and his staff are highly knowledgeable, professional, courteous, understanding, and HONEST. What more could you ask for?

I LOVE Phil's Auto! After my previous car's engine took a dive (due to lack of proper maintenance) they were very honest and upfront with me and when it was evident that my car was irreparable they even took the price down a bit and were very courteous. My previous car still had our belongings in it and I had no way of getting it out, so an employee even picked me up and gave me a ride to get our stuff. With our new car, I won't take it anywhere else unless we move to a completely different area (like three hours away).
