I took my Infiniti G35 to Shady thinking I needed new brakes. I had been using another local auto repair and at first they were great but every time I took my car in I had hundreds more in repairs so was sort of expecting the same thing here. I mean, who believes there are honest mechanics? Well, I was so pleasantly surprised when Shady gave me a call and told me that I didn't need ANY repairs not only on my brakes but on anything else! I couldn't believe it! I asked him to change my oil and check out the car and he did and when I picked it up, the only charge was for the oil change.
Now my husband and son are also taking their cars to him and we have all had wonderful experiences. He is the only mechanic I will now use.

Guy knows his stuff, also super chill and good at breaking down what's wrong for a someone that doesn't know much about cars, like me. When I found out we live in the same apt complex, Shady swung by after working late to diagnose why my Outback wouldn't start. We ended up towing it to the shop so he could get a better look, and he had it running smooth a few days later. Couldn't ask for better service, real trustworthy guy with a good reputation.

My check engine light went off on my only day off from work this week and boy was I bummed to see that. So I looked up a place with good reviews and S&M seemed like the clear choice. They did not disappoint. Even being towards the end of the day Shady took me right in immediately determined the issue which was a small gas leak. Was able to fix it in minutes and when I asked him what I owed he said don't worry about it just have a great rest of your week! You don't often get that kind of genuine kindness from a mechanic. Small sample size but what a nice guy. Thanks so much I will recommend them for sure and return absolutely.

My vehicle's temperature gauge was fluctuating between mid to high and seeing that it was spilling plenty of coolant, I knew it was time to take it to a mechanic. I searched on Yelp and came upon S & M and saw the high praise/reviews for this place. I am a big supporter of Mom and Pop shops (especially those local to my community), so I messaged Shady and he was more than helpful and accommodating and never hassled/pressured me to go with him as I was still trying research other shops/pricing. I ended up choosing S & M as their quote (with no hidden fees) was the best.
Upon arriving, even though Shady and his associate were already working on another car, he took my vehicle and put it up on the lift within minutes of my arrival. His very first inspection was that the top radiator hose was cracking/leaking. Of course my friends and I looked at it (of course with no lift) and visually we saw nothing. Since Shady had a lift, he was able to diagnose it correctly.
After replacing the hose and adding additional coolant, my car's temperature gauge is back to normal (just under mid level) and don't see it going back to the fluctuation of the temperature. Thank you Shady and your associate for honest and budget friendly work. I will be back and will let my family and friends know about your shop.

This is the best shop in Camarillo! I brought in my newly purchased 2014 Kia Soul that had an issue with the A/C system putting out a foul smell and humid air that was also dangerously fogging my windshield.
Shady provided excellent, honest, and friendly customer service and fixed the issue in HALF AN HOUR at a great price! (Drainage line was clogged)
I'm now back on the road enjoying my new car, odor free with clear visibility! I will definitely return with any service I need in the future. You should pay them a visit too if you have any automotive service needs.

I was totally lost as to why my brake lights were not working properly. I replaced all the bulbs and the fuse and the brake switch, all to no no avail. That darned light would not come on when I stepped on the brake. I was frustrated as to why I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I did not what to get pulled over and get a hefty ticket. That would be all I needed. I certainly didn't want to get the run around from an unscrupulous tech. So I was a bit skeptical and unsure of what to expect when I brought my van to S & M.
I met with Shady, and after talking me down from the ledge, he assured me that everything would be ok. Within minutes he figured out the problem and me on my way. Something so seemingly simple would have had me spending a cool 100 on diagnostics at some other shop. I know because I tried... Shady knows his electrical.
Moral of the story, I would have same so much time and money had I just come to Shady in the first place.
Listen, if you are anything like me, tall, dark, and handsome, and need an honest mechanic--or perhaps not so tall-- come to S & M. You won't be sorry you did.
I am so glad that I met Shady and I will always, always come back for all my car needs.

I feel I have found an honest, knowledgeable mechanic that will take care of me and not upsell or rip me off. I asked for estimates, stopped in and he checked the basics and said I needed nothing until another 5,000 miles and at that time he would perform all the services for a flat fee, and for me to ask my old mechanic if I had had a timing belt changed, which is done about every 90,000 miles. He then got my windshield sprayers working at no charge. I took up his time and he did not charge me a penny, so he has earned my trust. He will have me for a customer for a long time to come! Shady is also very personable and knows what you are talking about.

Twice I brought my vehicle to Shady and he is always helpful. Both times he spent 30-45 minutes diagnosing my problem. Instead of telling me I needed something replaced he fixed it right there and didn't even charge me. Check this guy out, he exudes the most important quality in a mechanic, honesty!

A previous mechanic told me my serpentine belt tensioner was squeaky, but I decided to go to S&M for a second opinion as I was skeptical. Shady got back to me less than 20 minutes from when I requested a quote. Even though it was near closing time, he allowed me to bring my car in to take a look. When I arrived, he stopped what he was doing to look at my car. He showed me what he was looking at and ultimately diagnosed that nothing was wrong with the tensioner.
I very much appreciated his honesty and time to look at my car! I also liked that he showed me where the "problem" should have been. I will definitely be back for future repairs!

Just as I finished backing my tent trailer into a campsite at Sycamore Canyon Campground at Point Mugu this last Sunday 8/2, I heard a popping noise and the power steering/power brake pump on my Astro van was dead! Two and a half hours away from home and it was just my daughter and I on the first day of our three day trip to our favorite campground. What a terrible feeling, realizing that I was kind of stranded. We have Auto Club, but I was unsure if any shop they took it to could get it fixed quickly and I wondered how I was going to get back to my vehicle once it was fixed. I called my husband who did some research and found S&M Auto on Yelp and suggested I give them a call. The next morning I spoke to Shady, who assured me that he would make my van repairs a priority and would also get my van back to me once it was repaired.
Auto Club towed my van to S&M Auto and Shady called me once he looked at it to let me know that he could fix it that same day and how much it would be (and the price was reasonable). He called me when it was done, and then came and got my daughter and I and brought us to the shop to pick up the van. I was so grateful he got it done so quickly, came and got us, and was a really nice guy! Seriously, his prompt and excellent service saved our camping trip! I could not possibly say enough about how awesome this was, especially since we were so far from home. I highly recommend S&M Auto to anyone when in the Camarillo area. Thanks again Shady!
PS- When I arrived home, I found a nice thank you/follow up card in the mail from S&M Auto. Nice touch! Sure wish we had a shop in our area where the service was this good.

I recently moved to SoCal, and finding a good shop to take my car to is always never easy (we've all been through that). A friend recommended I go see Shady (the owner) at S&M Auto. I was skeptical because Camarillo is almost an hour away drive from LA, but I thought I'd give it a try. After I met Shady and saw his work ethic and knowledge, I didn't regret the drive for a second.
I know a thing or two about cars, so I'm not easily impressed when I go to a mechanic, but this guy KNOWS what he's doing and what he's talking about. After talking for a while it was obvious that he has a very strong electrical background (which almost every mechanic lacks) and he's great with all the mechanical work too.
I'm very happy with the work he did on my car, letting me know all the work that needs to be done and the cost upfront, and even giving me options of the different parts, prices, pros and cons. I finally found a mechanic with experience who I can trust that will do an honest job at a fair price!!
I rarely write yelp reviews, but I know how much of a hassle it is to find an honest and knowledgeable mechanic, so those were my 2 cents. If you take your car there once, I'm pretty sure you'll never take it to someone else...at least that's what I'll be doing.

I had some electrical issues caused by a rodent crawling up under the front of my car and chewing some wires. I took my care to the dealer who said i needed to replace the wiring harness. Parts and labor were estimated at almost $2400. While I have comprehensive coverage on my auto insurance policy, my deductible is $1,000. I though I should get a second opinion.....
I went to S & M because I read so many good reviews on yelpl Shady fixed it for $95. No, I did not leave off a zero. Only a few wires were damaged. He spliced in a few sections and now everything works as good as new. Not only did I save $905 from what would have been my deductible. I, also, did not have to make an insurance claim(savings unknown).
Count me as another totally satisfied customer.

I am so happy I found a mechanic I can trust! The owner Shady is awesome. He has come to my and my families rescue many of times. He goes over and above the call of duty. Always good work at a good price. Whether working on my Prius or my less complicated Mitsubishi, I have always been happy with the service. As a woman he always treats me with respect and I have never been given the run around which seemed to happen at the dealerships and other auto repair shops. So finding him has been a great relief when it comes to auto repair issues.

I stopped in while having car trouble on the road, I was over 150 miles away from home! They saw me right away, and got me back on the road in just 1.5 hours!

This place is legit, came in because my check engine light was on and I needed a smog. Shady was able to accommodate me on a Saturday at the last minute got me my smog and checked my engine light code and told me what the problem was, something I could do my self. I was in and out in less then 30 minutes, smog certification in hand and check engine light figured out, never felt rushed or pressured and he actually told me where the piece was that needed replacing. He is now my go to mechanic and should be yours as well.

Shady is awesome!! We took our car to him for a second opinion on some maintenance that was recommended by another auto service. He got us in right away, his prices were less than half of what the other guys had quoted, and our car was ready in less than 24 hours.
When we took our car on a cross country road trip and experienced some engine trouble, we called Shady (on a Sunday) to ask for his opinion and he walked us through exactly how to remedy the issue. He got us back on the road without any problems, and even texted us later that night to make sure we had gotten to our destination safely.

I was referred to shady by a friend to replace the head gasket on my 90' miata, I had gotten a quote from somewhere else for the job but then shady recommended I replace the motor considering it already had over 200k miles on it. He was able to find me a used motor with low mileage and get it all installed ready for the road within three days all for the same price the other shop wanted for the head gasket. From oil changes to a total motor replacement I would take everything I own to S&M!

Shady is the man and my now go to mechanic after the experience I had here! I brought my Tahoe in thinking I had a leaking intake manifold gasket that was going to cost me hundreds to fix. They worked with me to get my truck in, ran a pressure test to diagnose it, and discovered it was a leaking hose that made it look like the intake was leaking. They saved me a lot of money by being honest and letting me know that it was such a simple fix and got my Tahoe back on the road. He was honest, prompt, courteous, and very helpful. Overall, a very pleasurable experience and I won't hesitate to come back again. Very grateful I found S&M Auto Center.

I drive on older Ford F-150 and it's about that age where things start to tumble off while driving down the freeway. I'm more of a DIY person and do as much as I can in my garage but whenever I get stuck or have any questions Shady is the guy I always go to. He is an amazing mechanic who has never failed to exceed my expectations with his hospitality, extensive knowledge, and well equipped shop. I go to shady for all my car repairs. He always does a great job and never tries to sell me anything I don't need. I had times where I've had mechanics fix my car and the problem still persists, but when I go to Shady he has always gotten the problems solved on the first visit. Honest, reputable and knowledgeable. What else can you ask for from a mechanic? OH YEAH, EZ - Polite. I have brought several of my vehicles here and they have fixed the issues or concerns.
