I especially liked the Women's Auto Care clinic that taught me more about auto repair.

I cannot say enough positive things about Joe and Bergin's automotive. It is very hard to find a trustworthy, honest and caring automotive company....and this is it! Joe and Floyd go above and beyond when it comes to customer service and car care. As a female, unfortunately sometimes mechanics talk down, try to inflate issues and price or take advantage....this isn't the case at all with Bergin's Auto....Joe has been extremely helpful and as far as pricing goes beats everyone else out of the park. The work done at Bergin is top notch and he is able to diagnose, problem solve and fix with speed and accuracy. They definitely have earned my trust and business!

This place is only good if you have deep pockets and have no clue about your vehicle. I have a passion for automobiles and now I can only work on them when a get an opportunity. My Chev Tahoe runs great I had a check engine light that was on and I was due for a smog check. I could not locate my code reader so I took it to Bergins at approximately 8:00am and he made me aware that to do the diagnostic check was going to be approximately $100.00 and that will not got towards the repair( 1st sign of getting screwed). But I had to get my vehicle checked out, so I left it and he let me walk all the way home by Adolfo park, nice customer service. They didn't even contact me for status on my vehicle I had to call them about 1 hour before closing. When I arrived I was told that I was going to require repairs totalling about $700.00. I was going to get the work done but before I accepted, I asked if I were to get the work done would it solve my vehicle problems? They replied we don't know that is just the starting point that will point us in the right direction. WOW!!!! What are diagnostic codes for then? So I paid my $100.00 rip off fees and left.
I went to Amazon and bought a $25.00 diagnostics with bluetooth capability and downloaded a free app to my android phone. Plugged into my vehicle and I received the same codes that were listed on My Bergins receipt. The app guided me to a website that should me what sensor was bad and how to repair it. Again I went to Amazon and bought the original part for $19.00 and installed it, less than 10 min. I cleared the alarms a drove my vehicle for about 80 miles and no more check engine light. Took my vehicle for a smog check and passed. A few days ago I took my vehicle to a repair shop in Agoura I explained to them my situation and I told them that I wanted to run a diagnostics on my vehicle to confirm my suspicions. Every thing checked out fine and my vehicle still runs great.
I do all of the repairs on my vehicles, I just don't get much time any more. I was just looking for a true honest repair shop. I know repairs are not cheap and labor is expensive, but you have to be kidding I spent more on a diagnostics at Bergins and mechanic was still not sure if that was going to fix the issue than buying the tool , parts needed and getting confirmation of repair. What was real bad he made walk home and didn't call me when he said he would.
It is real hard to find and honest repair shop. If I ever do end up having deep and very deep pockets and not care about service then I just might come back.

Great shop and really helpful. My van gave out going up the hill on the 101 out of Camarillo. Bergins tested and told me the fuel injectors gave out. Too expensive to fix but they let me keep it in their lot for a couple days till I could arrange to have it hauled away. They even gave me a great discount on the service. Best auto shop in Camarillo.

Yes, I am with you John M. We went over there because the lube shope highly recommended us as we had belts and other leakage issues. We needed the car fixed for Monday, as my husband drives very late at night and I am in L.A. all week.
So he could not help us in any way, and made an appointment for 2 weeks as he stated he was the only one there today.
If you have a automotive business in Camarillo and are open on Saturday, get some help. Everyone needs there cars done on the weekend due to commuting.
I was not impressed by the attitude of the man and I am glad we ended up at Brake Masters as he was able to fix it all! This was a safety issue and to wait 2 weeks because he is the only one there?
I would not advise going to a auto shope if he is the only one there, and his attiude really sucked.
Get rid of the family pic its an auto parts repair shope not a maturity store!

Due to the sometimes unpredictable nature of car repairs, I've waited almost six months before writing this review. My SC400 still runs well after Bergin's repaired the cooling system and ignition. My radiator had blown up on the road, and Floyd at Bergin's did a great job explaining what needed to be done.
Prices were fair, service was honest, and they never pushed me to do more work than needed. A coworker recommended Bergin's to me, and I'd recommend them to anyone looking for quality work.

my car stalled very near this shop while traveling for the holiday, the repair was very reasonable and done very quickly. There was also a Motel 6 on the same street, so I was able to leave my car, get a room and a rental car first thing in the morning. This was a Friday and the car was fixed by Monday. Based on my initial experience that started with a free 40 point inspection c/o AAA and ended with some repairs done to my valves and stopping some oil leaks on my 1989 BMW e30, I highly recommend this shop. They are honest and provide clear explanations as to what work needs to be done and give sound advice as well. They charge fair prices and know their stuff. Joe and Floyd are also great guys to just chat with. They are a busy shop so make sure you call to schedule an appointment.

I had a great experience the first time I went as per my last review of this company, but now I have a complaint. I went to have them check my breaks because they were squeaking I was charged 60$ and was told they were fine but my rotors were bad and it would be X amount to fix the problem. I went home and took it all apart, pulled my pads out took the to O'Reilly's the guy showed me that they were cracked and that's why it was squeaking, I took the back to Bergins talked to the owner and he gave me my money back, Thank you Joe. Now my dad goes in to have his car checked because it's stalling they can't find the problem, he needs to get it smogged but it won't pass. With all their experience they can't figure it out 87$ an hour and you can't figure it out? He took it to another place and they found the problem is 10 minutes at no charge, the whole time the boys at Bergins couldn't see the loose vacuum hose hanging there and the man made plug in the ERG put there to stop it from stalling. Really guys. There service has gone down hill fast and so did their star rating, we will not be back. You tried to take advantage of my Father he's 82. who can you trust!!

After a couple of really crappy service experiences at my local dealership, I started coming here on a recommendation from my father (a guy who knows what he's talking about when it comes to cars and car service). I've now had oil changes, a check engine light repair, and a fuel system diagnostic, and I'm thoroughly happy with the services they provide. I'm always able to speak to an actual person every time I call, and the guys are great about explaining what needs to be done (and how much all of it will cost). They're always friendly whenever I come in and, even though they're a busy shop, I swear they actually remember who I am (but maybe that's just because of my dad! He's got a big personality.). Their prices have been more than fair and they run lots of fun local-type promotions for various services, which you can see on their website each month. I think they've won a Ventura County Best Pick type award in the past, and I'll certainly be voting for them this year. Try Bergin's before you try a dealership, especially if you live in the Oxnard area. I'm glad I switched to them.

This guy charges either $82 or $87 per hour for labor. He'll diagnose the issue, but that is the most I've seen for labor anywhere in the city.
Not only that, but when I took my wife's car there, he fixed the problem, but then her speedometer 'toothpick' ended up on the other side of the stopping pin, making it impossible to determine her speed. When I asked her about it, the owners reply was, "sorry guy, can't help ya. You can't prove that it wasn't like that when you brought it in here."
No way I'd go back.

I stop by here by chance because my truck needed maintenance bad!!! Bergin's was the only place that made room for me...I told them I would be driving back to school (up North) so they double check my breaks and fluid for no extra charge! And they got me in and out of there in less then an hour (on a Tuesday)...
On top of that they are all super personable people that actual care about engaging in conversation with you... I was talking to him about school and that i am interested in getting a motorcycle and Joe gave me all this extremely valuable advice and even pulled up some bikes online to check out! It was so great and much appreciated!!!
With all that said... I came back home to visit and brought my car back here... Once again amazing service they remembered me from the first time I came in and asked if I had gotten a bike yet... And had me in and out in 30 minutes again... I feel like I have definitely found a primary automotive technician/mechanic!!!
If you are looking for a reliable no B.S. auto shop that isnt gonna beat around the bush about time and money then you should definitely stop by!...
Plus, they offer their customers beverages and have free wi-fi...

I recently took my diesel truck in for a window regulator and to have the oil changed. The total bill was shocking and my initial experience made me hesitant. The "tech" who changed my oil stated I needed to flush my transmission, brake and power steering fluid. At the last oil change I had all the fluids changed throughout the truck, transmission, brake, power steering, differntial etc. 5K miles later I need to flush these fluids again...? Did not create a very "trusting" start. In addition, I decided to "look up" the window regulator with the part number used on my final bill. I went to the GM Parts website and found the same part for 40% less, the price charged by Bergin was full list price. I won't be back.

It's been a while since I took my 2005 Beetle in for repair there and I don't even remember what the repair was. Could it have been the oil pan that got damaged when driving over a log in Simi Valley? I don't think so. There is a whole bunch of shops in a row and Bergins is the first and I decided to go with it. Could it have been a CV boot that got sliced at a tire shop? I doubt it. In the end though I was driving on the 118 and was afraid to cross the double-yellow line to get out of the diamond lane since I got a ticket once before; until I had no choice as my interchange was upon me so I cut across all lanes of traffic only to hit the island that was not visible from the diamond lane and the front right tire exploded sending me skidding across the island. My mom let out a little yelp. :) We were heading for a brick wall when some nice lady slammed into the passenger door with her Blazer causing us to make a U-turn and go back over the island onto the 118. Geico had the car towed from the police station to their body shop and they totaled it. In the end, we got another Beetle but now someone ran a stop sign and drove into the passenger door on this one! Their insurance is trying to deny any responsibility! Tell Bergins that the 2005 Beetle is no longer mine. The body shop that totaled it had a check from Geico and said they were buying the car from me. Does that sound right to you? That check was mine anyways since Geico is my insurance company. They bought my car with my own money! Is that right? Who knows? I named the new 2004 Beetle "Marilyn" after my mom who is no longer with us. :( Tweet me if you know: @xpertss97_jeff
