Where do I begin? I found Andy on Yelp years ago, and am SO glad I did! He is great at his trade, honest, and his pricing is beyond fair. He treats us like family, and we trust him 100%. Every single review you read really is true...Andy is amazing and dependable, accommodating, and helpful. SO thankful we found you Andy!

I had a minor issue with my car door, and found this place on yelp. I stopped by, with no appointment, met Andy, and he came right out, right then... and fixed my door within 5 minutes! He was so friendly and so willing to help. He also did it completely free! It was the nicest thing. It totally made my day. I was so impressed with the service and attitude I experienced here. I have no doubt that other places would have charged me hundreds of dollars for the fix, but Andy just did it there and then. I honestly can't recommend this place enough! I will definitely go back if I have anymore car problems (which I hope doesn't happen haha). GO ANDY

We all know how hard it is to find a great mechanic that is dependable and honest. I found Andy about 3 years ago. Why did I wait this long to write a Yelp review? I honestly don't like Yelp but I then I feel Andy deserves the recognition. The more I got to know him, the more trust and confidence I have in him. There are 5 cars in the family and he services them all.
I don't have to worry about him lying to me or charging me for unnecessary repairs. In fact, he will tell you "You can wait for the next oil change." I recently brought my car in again and told him about my car occasionally making grunting noise. He told me he found an error in the idle control but the part is expense to replace, so he cleaned it out and ran it again and the error code did not reappear. He did caution me that if it returns, it will most like need to be replaced. My car is getting old so I expect wear and tear kind of repair. For now, my car is running great. He charged me so little for the labor for that.
So many of us can vouch for his 5-star service. He will even tell you to take it somewhere else if he can't fix it. I am so glad I found him. If you decide to hire him as your mechanic, consider yourself lucky.

I found Andy a few years ago based on his Yelp reviews and I'm happy to add to the already positive numbers. It's so hard to find a mechanic you can trust these days. Andy is one of those rare guys who does good work at fair prices. I never feel gouged by him - he always explains the work that is needed and if he has to replace parts he keeps the old ones to show you what was wrong with them. He will tell you if he doesn't think work is needed, or if there are cheaper alternatives to expensive work. I've almost never been charged more than his original estimate for repairs and it's usually less. We trust him with all our cars and he does everything from oil changes to major repairs.

Andy is great and honest. He checked all my complaints on my vehicle and show me the truth behind the problem. I thought my brakes were out since I haven't replaced it in a while, but he checked it and showed me that I actually still hablve 90% left. I also asked him to check the squeeking sound coming from the steering wheel, he just fixed it for me at no charge.
If you are looking for a dependable, courteous, and honest mechanic; Andy is your man, I highly recommend him.

I am very happy to have discovered Andy and his shop as an alternative for maintenance and other work on my S2000. He charged me a little more than what he quoted me over the phone for an oil change but I think he just genuinely forgot. He did fix a bumper clip for me and identify a blown shock while he was under my car though. We are a bit spoiled for choice compared to the rest of the country as far as servicing these cars goes, but I think SoCal Motor Works will definitely see my business again.

Took my car to the Toyota of Orange and they said it would cost $800 but they would give us a deal of doing it for $700, took it instead to Socal Motor Works, and they did it for $500 and finished it quickly that same day.

Called for a quote on front brakes for my '14 Mazda 6 and these guys are complete dorks. $300 for new brake pads and to resurface the rotors is a JOKE. I ended up getting them done for $145 at another local shop. DON'T COME HERE. RIP OFF.

Andy has been working on my 2010 Honda Element for the last 4 years and he's always done such a great job with my car! I'm always hesitant about taking my car in because I feel like people will try to up sell me and tell me there's something wrong with my car when there isn't OR if I take it in somewhere to get fixed..I always feel like my car isn't at 100%. With Andy, he's super genuine and honest. He's very upfront about everything and he also gets everything done really quick! My favorite thing about him is that if you ask him if he can do something he'll be honest and tell you whether he can OR can't do it. Instead of telling you he can, and ends up telling you that it can't be done or does something and makes it worse (like most auto repair shops) Thanks a bunch Andy for keeping the car in check and saving me loads of money by helping me prevent problems so I don't even get them in the first place :)

So glad to have found a very trustworthy repair shop. Service, value, & price can't be beaten. Hubby has a 535i twin turbo that needed service and repair. Had an excellent experience the first go around and came back for water pump repair knowing that Andy would get the job done. Towed the car from diamond bar to socal motor works and repairs were completed within 48 hours. Hubby asked me to post to make sure that repair shop and Andy is recognized. Needless to say, no longer will be taking our car to dealership. Thank you!

It's really hard to find a mechanic you can trust. That's why I'm really happy to have found Andy and SoCal Motor Works. I brought my husband's car in recently for an oil change. My husband also thought his brakes needed to be replaced because he heard some squeaking. I mentioned it to Andy and after the oil change he inspected the brakes. After inspection, Andy said the brakes were still very good and didn't need to be replaced. I know some shops are keen to make a quick buck and will lie to the customer in this instance, especially if the owner already assumes that a part needs to be replaced, so I really appreciated Andy's honesty. In addition, when he was doing the oil change, he noticed that transmission fluid was leaking due to a stripped transmission pan plug from a previous job done at a dealership. If he hadn't caught the problem, we probably wouldn't have found out about it until it was too late.
Another thing to note - cleanest shop I've ever seen. Nice to see an owner take pride in keeping his shop so clean because it shows that he cares. If he cares about the cleanliness of his shop then he probably cares a great deal about his customers.
I will continue to take my car and my husband's car to SoCal Motor Works. They are dependable and trustworthy, and that goes a long way in this industry.

So happy to have found an excellent shop. I had taken my Mazdaspped 6 to another shop and they actually botched the install and repair on my engine parts. Socal fixed the other shop's errors and got my car running and sounding perfect touching up some other areas at no other cost. I can tell he really cares about what he does.
I highly recommend and know you can trust this spot. I am a perfectionist and sometimes an annoying customer because I want to make sure its done right and they do it as good or better, as if it as their own car, and I definitely got that here. Awesome rates too!

Andy is a great guy!
I knew I had quite a bit of problems with my truck and I wanted him to check it out to actually let me know what was wrong with it. I'm an extremely busy person and he let me drop my truck off there at 9:30pm and let me leave my key with a note in it to the next door neighbors key box.
He communicated very well with me through email the week prior and the day of the inspection. He called to confirm if my truck was the one that was out there and he also gave me a list of problems with my truck through email. He was very honest with everything.
Unfortunately he wasn't able to make any of the repairs as he said the repairs would exceed the value of the car. However, upon picking my truck up the next day, he told me that my #3 and #5 spark plug wires were arching off the EGR Valve and he tied them back. I think he also might have put 1 of 2 vacuum lines back on as well (can't remember). He didn't charge me anything for the inspection/diagnosis and I have a pretty decent list of items he wrote that I can work on myself for the time being.
I will recommend Andy and use him for the future anytime I get. Thanks Andy!

Andy is the best mechanic I have ever been to. He is efficient, honest, fair and most importantly goes above and beyond to provide the best customer service. One time I brought my new Honda CRZ in for an oil change, and Andy informed me that another part was broken, but it was still under warranty. He called up one of his contacts at Honda and helped me schedule an appointment to get it taken care of ASAP at no extra charge. Andy is also really great about showing you what exactly is wrong and what he fixed, so you always are in the loop, which is awesome for someone like me who doesn't know much about cars! I highly recommend this shop!!!

If you want to take your car to someone you can trust, take it to Andy. Not only did Andy stay late to work on my car, he even repaired my tire that had a nail in it. Talk about great service! It's no wonder why Andy has such good reviews on yelp. I highly recommend him and will not be taking my cars anywhere else from now on. Honest people are really hard to find when it comes to getting work done on cars so I'm grateful for Andy and SoCal Motorworks! Thanks again Andy! =)

Bottom line...this place is awesome! Our 10 year old Acura TL started having a variety of problems (A/C, brakes, electrical, etc) so we checked out a bunch of places and decided to bring it here. It was a good decision. First off, Andy (the owner) is super friendly and instantly likable. And just as importantly, solid when it comes to the work. He took our list of concerns and spent the morning doing all kinds of diagnostics and inspections. Then called back with the results. I felt he gave an honest and detailed explanation on all the issues and what it would take to fix each item. He didn't try to push any of the work on us and basically just asked us what we wanted him to do. Instead of adding unnecessary work to the list like some shops do, he actually crossed stuff off the work list. Like the brakes which we thought we needed replaced because they were old and squealing. Turned out brake pads were still around 40% and the squeal was likely just brake dust buildup (which he cleaned up...for free!) He even went so far as to point out things we probably ~shouldn't~ have him work on...because it wouldn't be worth the cost or may require proprietary Acura dealer equipment (like key fob issues). So we put together a list of repairs, Andy went to work and fixed them and had the car ready by the afternoon. Best car repair experience ever! If you need work done, this is a great place to go. Just to level set expectations, it's a very small shop and busy so you'll probably need an appt. Also, pricing is very reasonable for the service.

Andy is an extremely professional, honest, and kind mechanic. We've been bringing my wife's car to him for the last year and every time has been as pain-free as you could possibly be at an auto repair shop.
His prices are fair, he is extremely thorough, and he goes the extra mile by going over the car, topping off the fluids, and making sure that you don't pay for repairs you don't need. We thought that we had to get new brake pads and he told us it was only brake dust and we had plenty of life left in our current ones... anybody else would have probably charged for the new pads and laughed all the way to the bank, but not Andy!
Highly recommended!

I own a BMW that I have been taking to the dealer. Of course when my warranty ended I suddenly have all kinds of problem I needed to get taken care of. Irvine BMW quoted me for $4200. Thank god I found this place ( thru YELP) because turns out I didn't need everything the dealer told me I needed. I spoke with Andy, very nice guy on the phone and I faxed him the diagnostic form the dealer gave me. He quoted me the same day for $2900 and told me that he will have to check the car out because I might not need all the service the dealer recommended. And 2 days later turns out I didn't need to replace some parts as it was fixable and minor. I ended up paying $1200 for everything, AMAZING!!!
I will totally recommend this place to anyone I know. They specialize in Japanese cars, BMW and Mercedes. I definitely found my mechanic.

Thanks to the power of Yelp, I came across Andy and Socal Motor Works in my hour of need. I needed a new alternator and belt and decided to drop it off at my local Honda dealer. My jaw hit the ground when they told me that it would cost close to 800 dollars...800 DOLLARS to repair it. That seemed a little squirrely to me so consulted Yelp and found Socal Motor Works. Andy quoted me a price well below that of the dealer..so I had the car towed to his shop. Although I brought car in late in the afternoon, Andy worked on and had it ready at 8:00 p.m. that night--now that's service. Andy is knowledgeable, courteous, and all around good guy. I think that I found my mechanic...if Andy will have me!

I dropped off my car today around noon because I was due for an oil change (and I work not too far away). When I walked in, Andy immediately stopped what he was doing to assist me. I've been going here for about 8 or so months now with getting oil changes, inspections, throttle body cleaning and so forth. First of all Andy is awesome, he's a genuine honest car mechanic who knows his stuff and patient even with car noobs like me. He runs a really clean shop, works quick but thorough and will walk you through everything he has done from start to finish. I came here initially with my G37S and he pointed out to me about a few issues such as both of my upper control arms going bad and leaking and rather than even quote me suggested that I go to the dealership as my car is under warranty and they'd replace it for free because of it, so essentially Andy saved me about $2,000+ dollars from the first meeting.
I'll continue to go to Andy for all my automotive needs; he's a top grade guy running a top grade shop and I'd highly recommend him to anyone.

I feel like I'm repeating a lot of the obvious but it's all true! Andy is incredible! He's honest, professional and looks like he takes pride in his work and his shop. He's open to answer ANY questions you have and in my case, offered to show me exactly what the problem was and how he fixed it. He even offered recommendations for things that he couldn't take care of or was cheap/easy enough that I could probably do it myself.
If you call first, you're likely to get an answering machine but don't worry, he's good at calling back! Or if he does pick up, just know that he's generally soft spoken but it doesn't mean he's not fantastic at what he does.
I would recommend making an appointment to come in though. Each time I've needed a service, he's generally booked for the day but making appointments with him is a breeze.
Check it out! You won't be disappointed by SoCal Motor Works!

Regarding lowering springs service:
I asked for a quote and my friend recommended Andy.
To lower my car with parts I would bring in, he quoted me @ $350.
I live closer to Santa Ana and they quoted me @ $250. (I'll be going there).
Additionally, Andy's tone over the phone sounded mediocre, and our conversation didn't excite me enough to trust Andy with my car nor did the price.

I finally took the plunge and tried a new mechanic since I've moved pretty far away from my old one.. Yelpers recommended Andy and boy were they right! From what I could see today at my first visit, the reviews speak the truth. I appreciated that Andy made an appointment for me to come in instead of saying just come on down, he was expecting me and was able to start on my car immediately; the wait wasn't long at all. He was professional, thorough, kind, and very fair with his pricing. The shop was very clean; I'm incredibly picky about my car and was comfortable having it worked on in Andy's garage. I get the feeling that he will be truthful about necessary repairs in the future and I don't at all feel that I need to worry that I may be taken advantage of.
I will definitely return for maintenance as well as repairs; Andy's shop is very highly recommended!

Since I work in the service industry, I always like to commend good service. I called this place today after reading so many positive reviews on Yelp. The person who answered the phone explained that they don't service my particular type of car (NOTE: They do not service Chevrolet vehicles anymore), however, he had the specific company name AND contact name of a place he recommended for Chevy's, along with the number.
It reminds me of Miracle on 34th Street when Macy's gains a great reputation after they refer customers to other department stores for items they don't carry. "I don't have this but I know who can help you" is the best phrase to hear!

Since I was so pleased with my first visit to Socal Motor Works last November, I returned last week for an oil change, transmission fluid change and to replace my tires.
True to Andy's work ethic, he completed all of the work within just a few hours, did a great job and at such a reasonable price! He explains exactly what he needs to do and will even explain why something costs more or less (usually less) than the original quote. He even fixed a problem with my passenger door panel that I mentioned but wasn't a priority.
The shop is very clean, safe and organized and I'll be going back for all of my car maintenance and repairs.

When I came across Socal Motor Works' yelp reviews, I thought that there could be no way an auto repair shop could have such stellar responses. It had to be a ruse, naturally I had to check it out.
I was having some idling problems with my 2000 Honda Civic, the Google mechanic had suggested a few potential issues and most of them I didn't want to get my hands dirty to attempt the repairs myself. I figured it was also time to get a big chunk of my scheduled maintenance taken care of that was WELL overdue.
Andy diagnosed my idle problem in ~15-20 minutes at which time I informed him of the other servicing the car needed. He quoted me the price and an estimated time frame (about 24 hours), the next morning, I received a call that it was all done (ahead of schedule).
- Shop is brilliantly clean & organized
- Location was easy to find
- Quick Diagnosis
- Clear explanation of charges & methodology
- Answered the phone every time I called
- I compared part prices to those found online. While a bit higher than bargain basement auto-part warehouses, he was able to get them same day. (Worth it in my opinion)
- After service, I could visually see almost every new part under my hood (minus some gaskets & the timing belt due to their location) so I feel very confident that the work was actually completed.
I have already sent an email to every single friend & coworker in my area about this guy. He has won my loyalty.

Andy is great! He is very personable and honest. The last time that I brought my car in, I had been calling around for estimates on replacing my break pads (dealer was, of course, going to charge me a fortune). This place was by far the most reasonable (saved me well over 100 dollars). Andy even showed me my old pads so I knew how worn they had become. This time around I got my 90K service done. Rather than just charging me the full amount (which was still much cheaper than the dealer), Andy inspected my car first then informed me of what was actually needed and what wasn't needed. I highly recommend coming here!

Nice guy, clean shop, and great price!
In the past when I needed oil changes I would take my car to jiffylube which would cost me about 50 bucks each time for regular oil.
I just got my Volkswagen Jetta back from Andy and I'm completely satisfied.
I'm taking a trip up north to Sacramento next week so I needed to take my car in somewhere to make sure I wasn't going to break down on the way there.
Socal motorworks is conveniently located near my work and has flawless reviews so I gave Andy a call yesterday afternoon to see when a good time would be to bring my car in for a check up. He was able to get me in this morning which worked perfectly for me as it is my only day off before my trip next week.
I told Andy that I definitely needed an oil change and asked if he could check anything else that needed it.
He quoted me only for the oil change and said he wouldn't charge for labor since I found him on yelp.
Andy is a really nice guy and extremely down to earth and my boyfriend was very impressed with how clean his shop was.
A couple hours later he called me and said I was ready to go and everything look good for the 400 mile drive.
He ended up changing my oil (synthetic oil), replacing a few light bulbs that were out, refilled all my fluids, checked my tire pressure and wear, and even ROTATED my tires as well. All for only 61 bucks. Amazing.
Definitely coming back for all of my car issues. Andy is awesome!

I've gone to Socal Motor Works for every mechanical problem I've had in the past year and a half. I was tired of places that took advantage of me for not being a genius on the subject. I may be a girl, but i do know enough to realize when i'm getting ripped off.
Andy is such a good guy. He has fixed every problem i've had with my car AND for a great price. Seriously, it's great to have a mechanic that doesn't just think about the short term goals of banking off people. Rather, he thinks about long term goals of creating a base of returning customers.
From having my solenoids replaced to having my front bumper shield fixed, Andy is the man.
look at these reviews... he's obviously doing something, i mean, everything right.

Found SocalMotorWorks while living in OC and it was my go-to place for all auto work. Owning a 12 year old car with over 200k miles, I've had many issues that needed to be dealt with. Andy definitely gives the best price and treats my car like his own! Now that I've moved to San Diego for work, I still drive back to OC to see Andy since no mechanic in SD compares to the work he does.
If you want to be overcharged for labor and parts that probably worked fine to begin with, go to your local dealer. If you want the best deal for true honest work, go to Socal Motor Works.

Finding cheap mechanic is easy but finding knowledgeable and honest mechanic is not that easy!
I stopped by about 6 different places including Honda dealer to fix my check engine light on my s2000. All of them charged me $3000~5000 without inspecting my car in detail.
They just said they need to do head job for my engine so that's why expensive !
They all tried ripping me off. :(
But I got my check engine light fixed with Andy. I spent less than 200 dollar to adjust valve space on my engine head. I have been maintaining my s2000 with andy more than 15 month. My car is the best condition now ! I'm still happy so I took a picture of his shop lastweek n uploaded it. 2005 Black s2000 on the right is my car. And the other s2000, NSX is other customers car.
He takes care of customers car.
If you find the person can trust, knowledgeable and honest,
" Andy is the man ! "
Thanks Andy ! from JB.

First off, Andy is a nice and trustworthy guy and has great customer service and turnaround time.
I had a good experience EXCEPT he forgot to do ONE thing... He didn't tighten the car battery connection which had me almost stranded on a couple occasions until I realized what the problem was. (I had to deduct one star for that).

This is a great place to get your work done. No joke, this is who you want working on your car. We have been bringing our cars to him for a couple of years now.
Andy is low key, down to earth, very honest, professional, through, and takes pride in his work.
He will answer all questions and will explain his work in as much detail as you would like, no question to trivial or complex.
He never tries to up-sell or do stuff which doesn't need done, his prices are fair, his work is done on time.
This is as good as it gets, try him out.

Andy is a one man team and he prides himself on helping the consumer. Went for an oil change and regular maintenance and he explained everything clearly for me. He went above and beyond what was asked and I feel like I have a new car.
He even fixed my sunroof that I've been having issues with for free. He was more than pleased to help anyway he could which is very rare in any industry.
I'm all for supporting the small companies who try to win over customers with customer service and this is one that I will keep in contact with from now on.
I wish all the luck in expanding in the future I know this guy will make it big!!!

Wow. Just WOW! If I could give SoCal Motorworks/Andy 10 stars I would.
The reviews here don't even begin to touch on just how awesome SoCal Motorworks is! I got my little truck in to Andy on short notice, and after just a few hours of TLC, he had her running like a total champ. I had asked if he could check a few other little things if he had time...he really didn't as he's a busy shop, but he fixed part of them anyay, and I'll be taking the truck back soon for the balance of odds and ends.
I cannot get over how much better it's running, and just having the piece of mind that she's running at peak performance due to an honest mechanic NOT taking advantage of the situation...well, I just really, really appreciate it. You're the dude Andy - I'll be baking some home-made gratitude brownies for you very soon buddy!

Just purchase a 89 Camry for my nephew with 112k miles. Needed a good/honest mechanic to look over the car and give me an estimate on how much it would cost to get the car in working/safe condition.
I found Andy via Yelp and brought in the car. He completely went over the car and phoned me back with the estimate of what needed to be done. Andy worked with me on the costs as I had limited funds to invest in the car. We agreed on the work and the car was finished the next day.
The car is running great, the nephew is thrilled that he has his own set of wheels and I'm satisfied with Andy's service.
We have 3 other cars in the family and they will be serviced at Socal Motor Works from now on

I was sick of seeing the red oil light on my car light up every time I started the car, so I finally bought it in to Socal Motor Works after reading the 5 star reviews online.
I hate getting an oil change on my car because it takes an hour+ (especially at the EXPRESS service places). However, I must have gotten there at a good time because I only waited 10 minutes before Andy got to my car and finished the whole process in less than 45.
Andy was courteous, professional and really considerate (offering to turn up the heat in the lounge if my four month old baby was cold). He told me how much everything would cost beforehand and let me know exactly what he was charging me. After checking my tire pressure, he told me that I would need to rotate my tires and gave me a discount because I was referred by yelp (thanks yelp!).
Next time, I'll make an appointment and bring in my husband's car as he's due for an oil change any day now.

Im writing this review early even if the work has not been finished. Andy is very professional, and like all the other reviews, he was courteous and performed the work fast. I had an appointment at 3pm but ended dropping my car off early and ended up getting a call early around 2pm that their was some issues that needed to be rectified with the aftermarket rims I put on. He offered me some spacers for free and also helped me to buy some of his lug nuts for cheap. He also mentioned some recommendations for places to go around here to get some decent priced lugs/spacers and was helpful throughout the whole process. Either way, I am thankful for all the previous reviews and base a lot of reviews to help guide whether a place is good or not. Most of all, it was a great experience and I would recommend him to anyone.

Andy at Socal Motor Works is a godsend!
Getting my car checked out before was like pulling teeth... Dentist, DMV, Car Repair... I dreaded it! Let's just say being a young female automatically branded a sign on my forehead that said "CHEAT ME" to all auto repair men. And yes in my earlier days I've been duped into paying $400+ for "routine maintenance" on a brand new car when all I needed was an oil change. But those days are long gone and now I have Andy who is honest and reliable to take good care of my car.
Andy really cares for his customers and always works to save you the most money possible. When I needed a part replaced on my TL, he turned me over to Acura since it was covered under warranty. Of course I didn't know that and he could have done the work himself and just charged me. But Andy's not like that. He's worked in the industry and has a lot of experience and connections especially when it comes to Hondas. He sent me to his personal friend at Weir Canyon Acura who took great care of me there as well.
It feels so nice to know I'm in good hands when it comes to my car. Andy is the best and I've referred all my friends and co-workers to him. Finding a good mechanic, hair stylist, and dentist is crucial in life but certainly no easy feat. I'm still on the search for the other two, but thank God I'm set for life with Andy!

Thanks Yelpers for your take on Andy of Socal Motorworks! I JUST FOUND MY GO-TO MECHANIC IN THE AREA! My family recently moved from the SGV a few months ago and we took our Honda's to Dr. Honda and various other places and were happy...but I wasn't looking forward to finding a new mechanic. The dealer WASN'T an option, and so I looked around on Yelp and found this place. Took my old 92 accord to Andy and he was just like you guys said - straight up, honest, a good guy who knows his stuff (former Honda dealer mech, I think). He knew I couldn't spend a lot on my old car, and so he did what he could to keep her running and gave me a thorough recommendation of what I could do to keep her going for years to come. I left his shop that day just happy, relieved, and comfortable with him, his work and knowing my family's cars will be in good hands.
Trust me - he's excellent. Give him your car and your business - you won't be disappointed. Thanks again guys for the recommendation!

I took my BMW in today to Andy after I had someone else do my oil change, because Andy was out of town. The other " certified BMW mechanic" suggested that I have six things done to my car: repair a gasket , perform a transmission flush, replace a belt, etc. My first mistake was to have someone other than Andy look at my car. I know nothing about cars and I fully rely on the recommendations of the mechanic to perform the necessary work on my car. Andy looked at my BMW and stated that my engine is clean and I was just short on oil. I should not have been short on oil because the other mechanic just completed an oil & filter change 6 weeks prior. There were no leaks found in the engine so the other mechanic must have shorted me on oil. My husband picked up the vehicle and Andy said that the oil change was on him and that we did not owe him anything for the work he did. My husband tipped him and he was reluctant to accept the tip. What an awesome guy!! Andy is a true blessing to me and my family. No wonder he has 5 star reviews. I love Yelp because it helped me find an honest and talented mechanic.

Very knowlegable and honest. Services done will only be charged, and they will only be worked on if confirmation by the owner is received first. He also checks all items around the car during a tune up for suggestions to repair at the owners discretion.
I take both my cars there for service. Honda S2000, and Acura NSX. Since I have my car maintenance taken care of there, my cars always run great.
Both cars have had their major service done at SoCal Motoworks. Both cars have zero leaks, zero problems, and I am always satisfied with the service and professionalism.

Andy is an awesome auto mechanic! Whenever I have a car problem, I take it to him and he lets me know exactly what I need to do and if he can't do it, he will refer you to someone that he would trust to work on his own cars. I was searching yelp for a while to find an honest repair shop and I'm glad I finally found SoCal Motor Works and its cool owner, Andy.
I drive often to San Diego in my 2001 Lexus LS430 and I was due a major 90-100K maintenance where I had the following done...
Items I brought with me from
that SoCal Motor installed, labor below: Parts cost ~ $280
- Timing Belt (Aisin Kit)
- Water Pump (Aisin Kit)
- Bosch Spark Plugs (8)
Parts and Labor done by SoCal Motor Works: (~ 8 hours)
Labor Cost ~$650, Parts Cost ~$140
- Thermostat Assembly
- Radiator Hose (lower)
- Radiator Hose (upper)
- Radiator Cap
- Thermostat Gasket
- Coolant (of course)
Andy only recommends parts that really need replacing and is fair with the cost and will only change it with your "OK".
I did my serpentine belt, air filter and cabin filters myself. Plus I've done my brake pads not too long ago. Yeah I can do most things, but when it comes to the TB & WP, I leave that to the professionals.
The same job above at most Lexus dealers will be at least $1500-1800+. Save a few hundred and let So Cal Motors (Andy) do the job, keep him busy and in business!! He's my new favorite mechanic.

Went here today to get a standard oil change because I was neglecting my car too much lately....what a great find! my first review and already i'm giving 5 STARS out. but its definitely for good reason. so i just bought my 2009 Lexus IS250 and when i found out the oil change at the dealership would cost $100 and would require me to sit around for at least an hour and a half, i decided i needed to find another place quick before i needed to get other work done.
i called SoCal Motorworks and spoke with Andy who told me to stop by and he would be able to check out my car and give me a decent price. the oil change ended up costing me less than half what the dealership charged and i didn't have to wait for an hr and half like the dealership. Andy got me in and out in 30 minutes. plus he also hooked it up with some fuses because my phone charger fuse had blown, free of charge.
after Andy did my oil change he suggested HID lights (since the IS250 had projector lights but did not come stock with HID fittings) and that he was able to install them at this shop. for those who don't know, the HID option involves a kit to install along with the HID lights. this process would normally run about $700-900 at the dealership! total cost for parts and install at SoCal Motorworks... $170! it was a no-brainer, and Andy did such a professional job, i left the shop and drove for an extra hour enjoying my new HID lights.
i will definitely return for further service and have already recommended my friends to stop by and get their HID lights installed with Andy. ohHh, SoCal Motorworks also offers snacks and water while you wait. which i unfortunately pigged out on. i can't say no to Nutter-Butters.

This is my kind of place.
As a huge car guy myself, I am always very particular about the parts, maintenence and services done on my car. Thats why ive been bringing my car to Socal Motorworks.
These guys always use factory "OEM" parts, and if you want, they can give you great insight/advice on performance upgrades and parts as well.
I have got extensive performance upgrades and basic maintenence including tires done on my rotary Rx-7, Honda S2000 and my BMW M3. Yes, I was very happy to hear they work on BMWs and other European makes as well.
Let's talk prices.
Socal will do much better quality work using better parts and fluids at much lower prices than the dealerships. Beware, those "service reps" at the dealerships, those "rip-off reps" are commission based. Most of those people dont know the difference between the engine bay and the trunk.
Now, will Socal have lower prices than a few other shops? Not always. But just ask those other shops what kind of parts and fluids they use. Crap, thats what they use. Jiffy Lube oil changes and maint., haha, thats like putting your mom's cooking oil in the engine. Be my guest and go cheap if you want. I can't wait to hear those horror stories on the internet later, they can be very entertaining.
Remember, for most people, the automobile is the second biggest purchase next to a home purchase. Take care of the car.
From a car guy to car people, thanks Socal Motorworks.

Went yelping for a new mechanic and was surprised with all the 5-star reviews for Andy at Socal Motor Works so I decided to bring my 200,000+ mile 1998 Honda Civic in to get caught up on maintenance and to get a few parts in my car replaced.
When I drove up I was pleased to see his bays are clean and organized. Andy greeted me and asked what I wanted to do with the car and based on my response he suggested what he would do and told me to bring the car back in a couple of days so he can work on it when his schedule opened.
I brought my car back a couple of days later and he had me list my concerns and main issues for bringing in the car and he went to work checking it out. About an hour later he went over what he was able to discern from his review of my car and made his suggestions for what should be repaired, what could wait, and what maintenance items should be done at this point. It all made sense to me and rather than try to sell me on some major repairs as some other shops and dealers have done, he suggested an incremental approach because some of the less expensive repairs that already needed to be done might actually solve some of the issues I raised.
My car was ready the next day and I am very pleased with his worksmanship. He works fast yet with care and is clean. He cleaned my engine and the underside of my car at no charge and even threw in a throttle body service and gave me a break on the parts and labor! He uses OEM parts and shows you the parts he replaced before tossing them (all the other places I've been to just throw them out by the time you get there).
All in all I'm very pleased and will definitely be coming back when I need service.

I took my car in to get the front rotors resurfaced and the front and rear brake pads replaced because a couple of months ago when I took my car in to the dealer to get the battery replaced they recommended that I get these done within a couple of months. They quoted me $600. So I did some research to see what places I can take my car to to get these done and came across Socal Motor Works. I sent an e-mail asking how much it would cost and was happy with the quote, so I ordered the brake pads and as soon as they arrived I called Andy to make an appointment the next day. I was happy with the service - the quote he gave me via e-mail and over the phone was exactly how much he ended up charging me ($198) and the service was done within the amount of time he told me. He also rotated my tires free of charge which was cool. With the new brake pads and resurfaced rotors my car is smooth now. I'm happy with everything.
I definitely would recommend this place. Andy is a good guy. He's honest, professional, experienced, and he knows what he is doing. I will definitely bring my car back here again the next time I need to get something done.

Andy is great! He is so knowledgeable and great at what he does. I had to bring my car back to him a few times in the beginning in a short amount of time--nothing to do with him--just "girl not maintaining her car" problems. He showed me everything that was wrong when I came to pick-up my car, and how to prevent it from happening in the future. After he was done, he said he better not see me again for awhile! Definitely true... I come back just for my oil changes now! I will only go to him from now on for any car mechanical issues. Even my younger brother ended up going to him, and he's a car enthusiast who will only trust himself to work on his own car. But he saw what a great job Andy did on my car and the reasonable prices I was given. Highly recommended!

He's easy to talk to, and when leaving his shop you are happy and relieved instead of feeling that you are being swindled (you know, the feeling that you've experienced when you take your car anywhere else).

Thanks to the power of Yelp we have truly found an amazing mechanic. My husbands car was in desperate need of breaks and due to crazy work schedules, kids activities, etc. we had not been able to schedule a time to get them done. Then it happened...we waited too long and YIKES! After doing some research we found Andy and his shop on Yelp and were not let down by all the wonderful reviews. He was able to evaluate the car that night! I know he had to do some maneuvering to make it happen and maybe he could hear the desperation in my voice over the phone??? But he fixed it and had the car up an running by morning plus did a few other cosmetic things to it. To say we are amazed is an under statement. I am thrilled we have finally found a good and honest mechanic. I will be calling him to get my brakes done next. This time I will make an appointment :) Thanks Andy!!!!!!

Needed work done on my truck and was quoted way too much at another shop. Friend recommend I try socal motor works and I'm glad I did. Andy was very knowledgeable and professional. Not only did he do a great job on repairs, his price was much less than the other auto shop I had originally gotten a quote from. I recommend Socal Motor works to everyone.

A story to illustrate why Andy deserves all the 5 star reviews he has received. I've been taking my 2009 Prius to him for routine maintenance, and been very happy with his work. Recently, the car completely broke down and needed to be towed to his shop. Turned out that my transmission was completely shot. Andy figured out that it was still under warranty so he had the car towed to the Toyota dealership, arranged for the transmission to be replaced, and let me use his loaner car for the entire 4 day period while my car was being repaired. When I went to pick up my car from his shop, you know what he charged me? $50 for the cost of towing the car to the dealership. I can't say enough good things about the way Andy runs his business. FIve stars just aren't enough in this case.

Finding a good and trustworthy mechanic is like finding a needle in a haystack and I have to honestly say that I've found that needle with Socal Motor Works.
I have been going to Socal Motor Works for years now with mine and my wife's cars which have ranged from a Toyota Solara, Lexus IS300, Honda Civic and the ever so delicate Subaru STI.
just to name a few, services performed on these cars ranged from:
-oil change
-30k 60k 90k major service
-replacing brake pads, timing belt, spark plugs
-installing after market parts: exhaust, springs, sway bars, braces
Each and every time Andy has been nothing but courteous and professional. If there's a problem, he'll diagnose it and give you his recommendations along with options which is great because the dealers will usually only give you an overpriced option.
Another great thing about the shop is that its very clean. Most auto shops are pretty filthy but @ Socal Motor Works, everything is nicely organized and if you don't believe me, take a look at the shelves with all the fluids ( oil, coolant etc) on it and you'll see that everything is neatly organized which in my opinion is a great trait to have as both a mechanic & shop owner.
I've recommended all my friends and family and they've all said nothing but great things about the work and service that was provided by Andy and Socal Motorworks. I live in Glendale and even though its quite a commute, its definitely worth going the distance.

Every once in awhile you come upon an individual who truly knows his craft. Andy's one of those guys. I'd called in early having my car die on me the night before. I had to know if he would allow it to be towed there, being my first time there. After 5 min of discussing my issue without hesitation he said, sure bring it down. Upon greeting, he's cordial enough and treats you more like a client then a customer by definition. Within a couple hours he had the car diagnosed and completed when in fact he had explained it was a busy day for him, diagnosis would be end of day and repair over the next. He'd found the problem which was the engine relay, of which the Honda dealer and a Goodyear service shop had failed to do so. Looking and what's in the lot and in his shop, he has good breadth of experience. He does your complex aftermarket to your daily drivers maintenance and repair. Andy means business and he has absolutely has mine. Believe the reviews, he doesn't disappoint.

My wife, daughter and two granddaughters car broke down one day before they were to return to Northern California. Based on reviews we found here we went to Andy early Monday morning and asked that that he please fix the car. He was overbooked yet after hearing our problem took on the job and fixed the car quickly, efficiently and. even though my famiy were tourists that he would probably never see again, at a very reasonable price. I only wish he worked in northern California so we could always use him. Thanks Andy.

Andy is the best. I took my Nissan Maxima in a few months ago after it died on me and it's still running great! He only uses quality parts and does not over charge. I felt his prices were reasonable and he was very professional. It's good to know that there are still honest automotive repair shops out there. Thank you sir!

Our family has received exceptional repair service with SoCal Motor Works! We have used him for years from our Lexus SUV to our Dodge diesel truck. I completely trust his mechanical abilities and business ethics. And, my sister has been very happy with the maintenance on her Suburban and even her horse trailer. I can't say enough about his integrity to even deduct charges off my Lexus maintenance for an item I did not need. Andy is so nice to work with and he always goes over and beyond to provide terrific customer service!

Andy is the shit. Not only is he very knowledgeable and professional, but he was willing to work with me to accommodate my limited budget. As a starving college student, I need all the financial help I can get.
I brought my 2001 Toyota Camry to Socal Motor Works, after reading the great reviews here on yelp. The car's engine was completely gone (I had failed to repair an oil leak quickly enough and the engine overheated, causing massive damage). I arranged to have a used engine delivered to Andy and for him to install the used engine and swap out all necessary parts. It was a major job and not only did Andy do it very quickly, he was willing to match a very low offer I had gotten from a cheap/unreliable shop I had already gone to. When the new engine arrived, it came with guidelines for parts that needed to be replaced. Andy called me and asked if I would like to have the parts swapped out, as the guideline stated. I said that I trusted his recommendation, but that he should avoid replacing non-essential parts, as I was on a budget. Andy installed the engine, without replacing one of the gaskets to try to save me the money. This caused a leak, so Andy ended up having to replace the gasket anyway (forcing him to take the engine out and put it back in again; no easy job...). He didn't charge me anything for the added labor. After getting the car from him, it worked great.
A month later, the engine came close to overheating. I found out that there was a minor coolant leak (easily fixed) and that the fan-relay was broken. This was a completely separate problem from the work that Andy had already done. I took the car back to him and he was willing to fix the fan issue as well as fix my door handle (which had been broken) and fix my window (it wouldn't roll up) all for about $500 including parts. Another repair shop had estimated about $300-400 for the parts to fix the window alone. He also through in a free oil change.
My uncle repairs cars, so I ran everything that Andy had said and done by him. He was pretty impressed with Andy's quality of work and price.
As an added note, Andy's shop is very clean and well-kept. He also took incredibly detailed notes about the car and everything I had to say about it (including work I asked him to do over the phone).
TL;DR: Took my car to Socal Motor Works without a working engine, a broken center brake light, a window that didn't roll up, a broken driver's side door handle, cooling fans that didn't work and a non-function engine. They did a great job and didn't bankrupt me.

i found socal motor works through a friend and have to say that Andy (the owner) is an amazing professional. He was quick, helpful, very knowledgeable, and above all, honest and hardworking.
I had come in to do some brake work and he took care of it quickly and efficiently. His price was supremely fair, which surprised me. Other places would charge an arm and a leg all the while doing shoddy work, but Andy took his time and inspected everything carefully, going over my engine, tires, and even fixing some loose paneling that i had (I hadn't even asked for him to do it, he just, did it and didn't charge me anything extra for it.) let me tell you, this guy is a person that you can really trust and depend on.
I am definitely coming back here when I have other issues with my car.
It's very hard to find someone that you can trust with your car and *know* you're not getting ripped off. Well, Socal Motor works is the place and Andy is your man.

I chose this shop based on other reviews posted here. I am 400 miles away and I needed a reliable shop to look at a car I just bought off of Ebay. The car was listed as 'not running' and probably needing an engine. But it was a steal in any regards at the price i won it at. I got in contact with Andy as per the suggestion of another Yelper, and asked him if he could go pick up the car and look at it. He agreed to do this without any BS or without asking for an upfront payment....he didnt know me from adam yet here he was willing to help out. He arranged for a tow truck and did a diagnostic on the car which came back as it just needing an alternator and a battery along with some misc hoses and fluid changes. I was stunned that 1) the car was in such good shape but 2) his honesty. He could've told me the car 's engine was shot and the tranny to boot and I would've had little choice but to believe him. He fixed the car and charged me at a fairly reasonable rate. I just had two craiglisters pick up the car and drive it to in exchange for them getting to the Bay. I can't believe my good fortune, thank you Andy!

I have taken my Mercedes to Socal Motor Works many times to have body work done as well as regular maintenance. Every job has been performed with expertise and completed in a timely fashion. Couldn't recommend Andy anymore. He has also done work for other family members who all praise him just the same. His prices are more than reasonable and you can rest assured that your car is being properly cared for. Thanks, Andy!

We had taken our 1996 Ford to another shop and they wanted $150 just to look at it and intimated it could be so much money to repair that we would need aid from the govt. Needless to say, I did much research and was referred then to an excellent mechanic at Car Aid on Angus St. in Orange. George - the owner - was absolutely terrific. He tested the Ford the same day we brought it in at no charge and called us right away with an update of mechanical problems and an honest opinion of not to spend the money because the car wasn't worth the repairs that it needed. He charged us absolutely nothing. He spent time explaining to both of us what our car issues were. George is very knowledgeable about most makes/models. If you need an honest & fair mechanic, give him a call! We will be using him for repair of our 2006 Volvo.
