When I began looking for an auto shop in the area I was pleased to find someone that was out in the open and not tucked in the back alley like the majority of the other auto shops around.
My first experience with The Car Docs could not have gone any better. While anticipating that I was going to get ripped off like the majority of other auto shops I have been to in the past, "Scott" (the owner) was very upfront with me. He told me that he had to research my cars problem before he would know if he could fix it. After feeling like it was a scare tactic and a way to be over sold on what was really wrong, he came back to me stating that it was going to be a simple fix and would not dig deep into my pockets. What a relief!!!! I assumed it was going to cost me an arm and a leg.
I felt that he was extremely thorough, and most importantly, HONEST. He promptly fixed the problem and had me back on the road with no problems since. Commercial shops like Big O and Les Schwab can only afford less experienced mechanics, nothing of the caliber to Scott at The Car Docs. The experience from a mechanic like Scott cannot be matched.
I will continue to bring all of my cars here for all of my service needs. They are honest, charge me a fair price, and get you back on the road. Scott communicates what is wrong with your car and how to fix it in a manner that anyone could understand. I refer all of my friends and family to The Car Docs and it would be a waste of time and money to go anywhere else.

Basic hole in the wall auto repair with a twist...
Seriously, this is a ranch home at best 5 stall 2 lobby chair shop. Nothing fancy. The part of town that you feel uneasy walking the streets at night. The kinda place that the new money BMW owner would rather get caught with his pants down and bent over at the dealer then admit he took his car here to a better option.
Money is not spent on location, advertising or fancy signage... nope, the money is kept in your wallet as their prices are rock bottom. They have so little overhead, the owner, the mechanic, the office secretary are the SAME person...
That's how you save money and I like that!
BTW, Brian the owner knows what he is doing - straight shooter. Here's the problem and I will fix it today. Again, I like that.

How we decided on the Car Docs:
We called two other mechanics first, who both responded with some variation of "Oh, yikes, that's a tough one, gonna be a lot of labor. Gotta pull out the so and so, test the this and that..." But not the car docs, their response was "No problem! We'll pop a new one in there for you."
That's an attitude that inspires trust.
The outcome:
We took our car to the Car Docs thinking we needed a new fuel pump. For the cost of diagnostic labor we: 1) found out it's not a fuel pump 2) found out the mostly harmless cause of the sound and 3) got the broken tail light replaced.
That's trustworthy service that will get my business again.

I went into The Car Docs looking to get some work done on my work truck. I use this truck everyday to make my money so i was going crazy. The fuel gauges stopped working. I had Scott check it out and he showed me how he wired in the a fuel float by the gas tank and it was still doing some funky things and he suggested i go to the dealership. I took it the Folsom Lake Dodge and they told me it was the fuel float not working. Later i got another call saying they made a mistake. It was the Power Control Module. The main brain of the computer. After realizing that Scott is smarter than the dealership. I new right then he is my new mechanic to keep my truck running for my business! I now recommend anyone i know needing mechanic work to go to him.

Wonderful and honest place to take your car! Scott is very helpful and keeps you posted on what is going on while your vehicle is being worked on. I come from a family of mechanics, but none of them wanted to do the timing belt on my PT Cruiser; Car Doc's not only did the timing belt but they were honest and gave me a resonable price for the work. Happy to say my Cruiser is on the road and runs fantastic! I will reccomend and even use them again for my other vehicles. A+

Trustworthy, straight talkers who seem to know their stuff. Came here for an overheating engine one time and just general maintenance a second time. He was able to guess the malfunctioning thermostat correctly right away and got me back up and running in a day. A bit pricier (at least for general maintenance) but I'd trust them over some shadier, cheaper mechanics.

We wandered into the Car Docs with a car I was hoping to buy from a nearby dealership. They were helpful and made an appointment to check the car the next day, and when we showed up an hour earlier than planned they had no problem accomodating us.
