I was apprehensive to come here based on the negative reviews. However, I purchased a groupon prior to checking yelp so I decided to try it out. The owner and his wife are extremely friendly and accommodating. They really worked with me to get my car what it needed within my budget. The are competitively priced and dont try to con you into anything you dont need. They also gave me helpful advice that my key chains had too much weight on them that could cause issue to my ignition. This is something I would have never otherwise thought of.I have since minimized my key ring which i am sure will help prevent any future problems. I will definitely be back and highly recommend.

I'm absolutely disappointed for not checking the reviews before I purchased the groupon and gave this place a try.
I had been told by my previous mechanic that I was going to need brakes around my next oil change, so I purchased the groupon and scheduled an appointment . The guy told me my brakes were fine and that he could apply the groupon to my oil change . I opted
To pay for my oil change out of pocket and save my groupon for my next brakes inspection. Two months later, I took my car in and they told me the same thing. I did not need brakes yet and should come back in 3 months.
4 days later my car started to drive funny, thinking I might need an alignment I took the car to a different shop who after examining my car told me I was driving on metal, needed a new rotors and caliber and of course, new brakes on all my wheels.
I called Aamco to demand an explanation as of why would they had allowed me to drive away with no brakes? The guy had the nerve to tell me my brakes must've locked and that's how the damaged occurred.
I was able to get my $49 back from Groupon but the lack of professionalism of this shop cost me a total of $1000 because they wouldn't replace my brakes when I needed it.

Absolutely not! do not go here, plain and simple, I should of read the the reviews, thanks groupon!! If I could I would give 0 stars!!
This is not a reputable business, if you look for yourself at their reviews, they are not trustworthy, and use groupon to over charge customers, I know this because, I had purchased 2 of the brake vouchers, the 1st one I used they said that my calipers had got stuck and wore my brake pads out on my front brakes, I took my car it in last week and they told me the same exact thing with my back brakes. Really?? And here is the thing, the day before I took my car back to the dealer to have a inspection done, they said pads and rotor resurface is all that it needs, so since I had the groupon left why not use it. We took it there and gave them specific instructions that we wanted the parts back, we picked up the car after hours and low and behold no old parts!! What?? Why?? Those were my old parts, I wanted them back, are they hiding something?

I guess I should have read these Yelp reviews before trying to get my brakes fixed at this Lakewood AAMCO. I bought two Amazon Local coupons for brake service ($38 each). I was able to get an appointment and dropped off my truck on time this morning. I was expecting an up-charge because I knew that at least one rotor was bad. That is fine because they are $38 at the auto parts store. Well 6 hours later the nice lady calls me and said that my brakes were "rusty" and I needed all new rotors, pads, calipers, fluid, brake lines, seals, bearings, etc, etc. All this for the bargain price of over $1000!
She said it was illegal to "pad slap" (just replace the pads like the coupon was FOR). Excuse me, why have the coupon if you don't intend to honor it??
Please, please PLEASE do not go to this AAMCO. I don't know if this dishonestly is local to this particular shop or if all AAMCOs are this way. I will never know because I will not be going to one ever again. And you should not either.

I give this place no stars. Do not take your car here they do not know what they are doing or talking about. If you purchased the groupon you might as well just use it to wipe your ass with it. It is not worth it they will take all the money they can get from you. They told me they were going to replace all of my brakes thats why I assumed the cost was so high. They like to pretend that you are saving money but you are not. There were also additional charges that I did not approve of. I am a very upset about this situation. They fully target and take advantage of women. Please do not go here you will deeply regret it. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and everyone that has had a bad experience here should file a complaint.

I NEVER WILL COME TO THIS SCAMMING PLACE AGAIN!! I purchased the $49 Groupon and the day before I went in, I had my brakes inspected at another place in Kirkland. They told me at the Kirkland Autoshop that they didn't find any leaks or anything. So the next day after Kirkland I take my car into AAMCO. The place looked sketchy and the guy who took my keys looked creepy. I almost walked out but decided to just give it a try since I drove all the way from Seattle. He calls me 2 and a half hours later after drop off and tells me my brakes are leaking and the Roters need to be replaced. I thought that was funny cause the day before when I got my brakes inspected they showed me what it looked like and also informed me all I needed was the pads and roters. The Kirkland Autoshop estimate me $200 for brakes. AAMCO was estimating almost $800. I called him out on it and he pretending like he was right. I took my keys from him and will NEVER go to this place EVER again. I hope this place gets shut down for lying to customers that they need this and that done just to make extra cash

It doesn't take a genius to understand what you've purchased from Groupon - it's there in black and white before you purchase. When you make the appointment they even explain that it's not a free brake replacement depending on what I need. I purchased a value credit to go towards my repairs. I already knew what I needed for my breaks when I took it somewhere else. I saved over $300 in repairs with my Groupon. Sure, I was expecting to spend money... But I also saved money. I was in the lobby when some picked up their vehicle without doing the brake repairs and the manager offered to use there Groupon towards other service or try to get a refund from Groupon. I thought to myself "Wow". I had great service and will come back for other needs my vehicle may need.

Check reviews before purchasing Groupon. Worst experience. I have been told by multiple mechanics all I need is new rear brake pads so I got the Groupon. First they tell me I need front not rear brakes and my rear brakes are at 80%. My calipers are sticking and my rotors are broken. It comes to a total of another $400 after Groupon. So I take it to Les Schwab to confirm because it all seemed odd. Les Schwab showed me that front brakes are 5mm, rears are 2mm. Nothing is sticking and rotors are absolutely fine. So I take it back to Aamco. Well now the tech who checked my car is sick and not there anymore. So someone else checks it and after an hour wait they tell me okay you need new rear brakes and new and if I dont agree I need to leave. What a horrible customer service and a waste of my damn time. If you cant deal with the fact that if you do Groupon you get nothing out of it except promoting your business Groupon clearly isnt for you! Dont screw people over.

Terrible. This place needs to be shut down completely. I guess I was a sucker who purchased the groupon for brake pads and resurfacing. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I drove an hour from Seattle to get my 2013 vehicle in good shape to get brake pads replaced and resurfacing. After two hours, they quoted me nearly $800 for additional repairs and said everything needed to be replaced....what a joke! I called my dads repair shop in Arizona and told them the situation. He told me they were pulling my leg and scamming me. They said they did financing and ended up offering me 500 instead of 800 for the repairs...ha! The woman in the "financial department" was rude and condescending. So was the guy who quoted me these ridiculous numbers. They obviously don't care about the customer or else they wouldn't be scamming people and trying to make it right. Do not purchase the groupon..or bother even going there. Awful.

I would say find a different place to get work done! We had a new transmission put in here and it took a month and lots of confusion and lied to our warranty company and we are kind of in a mess now. Every time we checked up on the car we got told it will be done the following day. We finally pick the car up and waited an hour for paper work! Very frustrating and for the amount of money involved not worth the service!

i cant even give this place a one star. here is my experience with this place and i will not wish this even on my worst enemy. i know its not a lot of $ i lost, but the experience and service was just horrendous and nobody deserves to be treated like this.. i did report them to BBB because they are freaking assholes and they need to burn in hell
i purchased a Groupon offer from AAMCO to get standart breaks change.. when i went into AAMCO at 8.43am, they redeemed the groupon first and and told me to come pick up the car at 4 PM. At about 2:30 pm i received a phone call from them saying that my breaks are all messed up and they need to do additional work on them total of which would estimate around $780. i declined and said that all i wanted was the breaks changed, thats all my groupon would be covering, anything else i needed changed i would take it to a place less expensive. they refused to do it, they said they will either do it all or nothing at all and it they threatened to report my car for being on the road with such breaks.i guess maybe that was their way to try to convince me to go through with their expensive offer . i dont understand why sell a groupon deal when they cant honor them!? when i asked about my money that i spent on groupon for this deal, they told me to take it up with groupon, and that they have nothing to do with that. yet they redeemed my app purchase. i left on my car unfixed, when i called the groupon i was put on hold and was never picked up on. when i tried to contact them again, same thing happened.
attached is the ad from AAMCO.
Limit 1 per person, may buy 1 additional as a gift. Limit 1 per visit. Appointment required. Merchant's standard cancellation policy applies (any fees not to exceed Groupon price). Must use promotional value in 1 visit. Brake service includes standard front or rear brake pads, resurfacing of rotors as necessary, and labor. Rotors will be turned when possible; new rotors may need to be purchased separately. Drum brakes require $59 extra. Some European and larger trucks may cost extra; call for details.
The amount paid for this voucher ($49.00) with AAMCO Transmission and Auto Repair NEVER EXPIRES. The promotional value expires October 28, 2015
I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone, they are so rude and that is not the way to treat their customers.

I purchased a $49 Groupon for brake repair almost a month & a half ago, to get my rear brake pads replaced and my rotors resurfaced. What a great deal right? Hell no.
My husband literally called three times in one day and was put on hold for 15+ minutes each time. He finally called again the next day and scheduled an appointment for JULY 18th (this was made the beginning of JUNE!)
Giving them the benefit of the doubt, we decided to wait it out because we already purchased the Groupon. When setting the appointment, my husband mentioned that he was only available on Thursday & Friday (his days off). Well, when he took our car in today, whoever scheduled our car to be fixed argued that our appointment was actually on Wednesday - no courtesy call that our date had been changed or anything. And instead of doing what a good business would do by correcting THEIR mistake, they still refused to fix our car & only offered to reschedule us AGAIN.
I usually don't even post reviews on businesses, but this is bullshit! You have to be held responsible for your actions & I hope that bosses come on here to read these so that someone's ass gets fired!
Never been here, never WILL.

I went to The Aamco in Lakewood today with a Groupon for $49 brake pads, which took me a month to get in and see them with an appointment, and they told me I also needed new rotors. I had my brakes checked at firestone yesterday, for free, and they told me only myvpads needed replacing. I did this just in case Aamco tried to pull something like this. When I mentioned it to the manager at Aamco, and asked him to measure the rotors in front of me, he said I was being rude and refused to service my car. I will never take my business tob them again. I will stay with firestone for now on!

I just downloaded the app and made a profile solely to review this place. MECHANICS LIKE THIS ARE SNAKES. Paid for a group on for front brake service, called and made my appointment which they made for 3 weeks out at 8:30 am (seems like they'd be pretty busy right? They aren't). Drove from Seattle to Lakewood, made it EARLY to my appointment, and saw 1 car in the garage being worked on. Get inside and checked in with their front desk guy who was nice enough, and he hits me with "it should be done around 4 maybe 5". 9 hours? 9 HOURS?! For a basic brake service?! With no other cars on the racks?! Could not be more furious about this. Maybe make it clear when making appointments that your simple service will actually take longer than a standard work day.

Worst experience ever!
I paid $39 for a voucher that was suppose to be worth close to $400 in brake repair. I was sold $200+ for new rotors that were not needed and charged $99 for labor to free a stuck caliper which somehow is not included in brake service???
When faced with a phone call to either forfeit my $39 voucher for no work, or getting the brakes done, I chose to get the work done and try to defend my position in person. After all, how can anyone justify 2 front brakes could possibly receive a charge of what amounts to over $700??? ($338 in additional charges above the $400 voucher value)
The two men chose not to listen to my end of the argument at all. They insisted they would not work for free and would not budge on price. Further, they threatened to throw me out of their shop without my car if I didn't shut up and pay! To this point, I still do not believe the rotors required replacement and DO believe labor for a stuck caliper should have been included in the labor the voucher stated it covered.
Not only will I never return, I have told all people I know to stay well clear of ANY AAMCO as I believe their business model is to lure customers in with a "discount" offer only to up-sell using the original paid offer as leverage.
Funny how I getting a call from corporate (stating they would look into it) and never hearing back does not come as any surprise...

Had my transmission replaced here on a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan. I thought it was acting up a year later so I took it in still under warrantee. No questions asked, they checked it out and told me what was actually wrong with it. I double checked and they were right on! Nothing extra was on the list.
I will be going here for all future work on my cars. The negative reviews are from a while ago but the staff working there now are awesome.

DO NOT take your car here! The worst customer service ever! I bought a Groupon for brake service and was told I would have to leave my car all day! After they had my car all day, they put the wrong rotors on! Driving away my ABS light and Emergency Brake light came on. When I called back to ask about the service, I was told they were looking into it and never called back. A few days later when I called again I was told they lost my paperwork with my number on it. I brought the car in the next day and they put the correct rotors on taking all morning, also losing my wheel cap claiming it came in like that. My car was done for a while and no one was to be found in the office. There were two other customers waiting when I finally went into the shop to find the manager smoking with the other workers! This place is such a joke and I will never do business with this broke down shop!

The service station staff are amazing and attentive to your needs. My vehicle needed a new engine after sitting in my driveway for year. They towed the car to the lot did a full check up and discovered a long list of things that needed repair. I would consider myself a high maintenance client - requiring updates and phones calls daily on the progress. Damien the shop manager took my calls and answered my questions. He went above and beyond to make sure that when my vehicle hit the rode it wasn't going to sit in the drive way until future work was done. They went the extra mile and were able to get ALL of the repairs done. This was a sizable job and I was impressed.. I'd never been to a repair shop with this type of detail and customer service. I got my car back with an engine that purrs like a new car!! Thank you Lakewood AAMCO... You're the best!

Don't waste your time with this Aamco. Its not a actually owned by Aamco. They have very poor customer service and try and take advantage of jblm soldiers. They will tell you everything looks "great" then try to pull a fast one and get you to do unnecessary work for double the cost. I purchased a Groupon for $49 back on May 6th. I called to schedule my appt the same day and the soonest date open was June 10th. I opted for today, June 11th, because it fit my schedule better. I was bringing my car in to have the brake pads replaced. I had them checked in late April and was told they needed to be changed soon, so that's what lead me to making this purchase/appt. I brought my car in at 8:30am and was told it would be ready around 4pm. I left the car and went to go run other errands. At 10:30am, I received a call telling me that my brake pads were at 80% and didn't need to be changed and that my rotors were warped and would cost just over $300 to replace with AC Delco parts or $266 with aftermarket rotors. After discussing it with my husband, we decided to go pick up the car and get a 2nd opinion. When I got to the shop, I asked for a written copy of the estimate for repairs. The guy at the desk said he deleted it, because I didn't want them to do the repairs for me. I asked him to go ahead and print me up another one. Instead, he scribbled "front rotors slightly warped" on the bottom of my blank service contract. I took my car to 2 more shops and had them do inspections for me. Both said that my brake pads are near 40% and DO need to be changed, but have enough life to last a while. They also said that my rotors are nearly perfect. One shop said that they are off .004mm, which is practically nothing. Since they both agreed that my rotors are not warped and, in no way, need to be replaced, I feel completely scammed and pretty annoyed that I $49 to be lied to and nearly scammed.

I will preface this by saying it has been a couple years since my horrible experience. Also, a large part of this review was copied and pasted from a review I gave about a positive experience I had. I will edit out the name of that business so as not to look as if I'm just badmouthing and trying to build their business up, unwarranted. But I am kind of surprised there are no reviews on this one. I really thought I would read a bunch of S*** talking...Well, I guess I'll do it then...
I had a 1997 Mercury Sable and it started having a transmission leak. I had it checked at AAMCO (in Lakewood) and I was told it would be somewhere in the range of...(sit down!)...$3000 to fix!!! I gasped and said the car wasn't worth that much and I had planned on trading it in in about six months. He almost laughed at the thought that the car would run that long! He politely reminded me that the car was financed for around that and that I would still have to pay off the car. He also politely scared the S*** outta me by reminding me that if I didn't service this car YESTERDAY that it was gonna blow and I would owe a hefty amount of money on a car that didn't run! OUCH! I told him I didn't have the money and he politely mentioned that they have financing available. I never thought I'd say this but...Thank you little tiny baby Jesus for my horrible credit! I probably could have been suckered into paying it!!!
Instead, I had a second opinion at _________. The issue was some hose or something like that. It was not made anymore so the tech made it himself, saving me a hefty penny!!! They were really good at explaining exactly what was wrong with the car and I felt confident that they knew what they were talking about. They even drove the car to see if it was doing what the vulture at AAMCO "experienced". Needless to say, it seemed pretty symptom free...other than the leak. I don't remember how long it took but I know it was a day or two. Bottom line -- I was out the door for around $200.
BTW, My car ran for over a year with no further issues. I traded it in for a bigger car and I'd be willing to bet AAMCO's business license that it still runs today!!!

Would give a 0 star for deceitful practice if I could. I got front brakes done here from an amazon discount similar to groupon etc.. It was only for brake pads, hardware and labor, if rotors were needed because mine could not be resurfaced I would have to pay for them. I have worked in a brake shop before and resurfaced rotors and felt confident mine were fine. I get a call later while my vehicle is being worked on, that my rotors were bad and going to need to be replaced. I agreed because I needed my vehicle in a timely manner, otherwise I would have done the job myself. I told them I would need my rotors back in this case, and I was right to do so. I had them checked out at a machine shop and they were perfectly fine damn near brand new. I ended up paying an extra $150 dollars ON TOP of the price of the discount coupon for rotors that were not needed because of a deceitful tactic. The coupon is only good for their location so YOU MUST GO THERE and if they tell you, you need other items they can refuse to work on your vehicle further citing safety concerns. They already got your money from that coupon you paid for without even doing any work, so they can hold you hostage for more work if you aren't careful.
