Big Apple Automotive is like your average dentistry. Go in for a checkup, get slapped with thousands of dollars in work, then the pain, the misery, the deflation of your bank account. Then--years later--you go to a different dentist and he eyes you quizzically and asks what in the name of God did the last guy do to your teeth.
First off: It has been years since I frequented this establishment. It's a measure of my displeasure that I still maintain the vitriol necessary to pen this scathing analysis of their "craftsmanship." These guys are con artists, and they will break your bank account if they can. Your oil change turns into a new transmission real fast. And I mean real fast.
If you are a woman, they will target you. If are you old, they will target you. An elderly woman? Done for. It's repulsive, demeaning, and should be illegal. I say this as a man who was wise to their tricks, but saw the sheisty methods with which they operated on others. It made me angry. I despise those who prey on the weak.
The owner is red-faced. All the time. It gets worse when he verbally attacks some old lady, though. I personally witnessed an old lady make an exclamation of dread at the thousands these cons wanted to charge her, something like, "Oh, how am I going to afford that?" To herself, you know. Rhetorical.
Red Face turns redder, yells at her that he's running a business, not a charity. Well, whodathunk? I thought this was Goodwill, here. He told her, though. That upstart granny, concerned about affording her half-ration of meds and food. He really got her good. A victory for the good guys, right here, folks.
You can operate a business and make profit with decency and honesty. If you can't, maybe you should find another line of work. I heard some local charities are hiring, Red Face. You have to find a new tactic when dealing with old ladies, though. Your standard method of attack would be kind of foolish, don't you think?
For my part, I took my vehicle to a different shop. Voila. Thousands of dollars becomes . . . About a hundred. Car still runs fine, to this day.
And Red Face? I told him what he could do with his new tranny. Guess what? He turned redder.
