Becka was referred to me by a friend who has used them since 2008 for their automotive needs.
My car was towed to the shop late afternoon. As promised they got back to me the next morning with their assessment of repair needed. By 3PM my car was back in my possession. Great service, good price and very fast service. I would highly recommend their services.

I've finally found MY auto mechanic!!! After suffering through some rather shady operations, I've found an organization that truly cares.
My car had a squealing noise. A different mechanic and just replaced the belt, so I was struggling with what the problem could be. Dan suggested a particular repair, but was up front with me that it would not guarantee it would work. Circumstances dictated that I leave the car with them overnight. The following day Dan calls me and tells me that he was laying awake last night thinking about my issue. He came up with a way to test his theory and found out that it wouldn't have worked. On a whim he decided to throw a new belt on to see what happened. It fixed the problem. Needless to say I'm questioning the quality of the parts used by the other mechanic.
The fact that Dan may have lost sleep about my issue speaks volumes about his integrity and caring attitude. This seems so rare in today's world.
Becka Automotive is a gem.

I used to get a bit of anxiety over taking my vehicle to the shop. No more! My aunt and uncle first recommended Becka to me. If I am bringing in my vehicle for a problem they always do a great job of explaining the problem to me, offering their expert opinion, and providing good service. The prices are not the cheapest I've seen, but most places that advertise cheaper prices overcharge in other areas. This place is fairly priced.

After getting an outrageous estimate from the dealer, Becka was recommended to me by a family friend. The service I received was outstanding! The price came in at a fraction of what the dealer quoted me (surprise, surprise) and the service was done quickly and with much better communication. I was treated so well by Dan every step of the way. It was also so respectable that they didn't charge me for things I would have expected to be charged for. When I picked up my car, Dan ran me through everything that was done, opening up the hood and ensuring that I understood. They followed up after my service as well. You get the impression that they really care, rather than just seeing dollar signs. You can also opt in for text message alerts which make it that much more convenient. I'm hoping my car issues are over, but if anything else comes up, I will definitely return to Becka Automotive.

I called them on Thursday morning when my car was making the worst kind of noises. They were busy and had no appointments and at this time I had expected the worst from my car due to large noises coming from the right side of the engine. I was expecting to not get in until Monday and in retrospect I'm glad it didn't get to that point. In any case, promptly Dan had called me back letting me know that there was a mechanic that had come back from being sick and that there was time available to at least diagnose the problem the same day. Not to mention, at the time my serpentine belt was sliding off apparently. Someone had done work before and didn't tighten the bolt up but thankfully only damaged that one pulley. The first time Dan had started the car in order to move it into the garage for inspection, the pulley came off so I was incredibly lucky that day.
Once I had gotten the car there, Dan gave me an estimate for what it may be and what it will cost. He had ordered the part needed the night before so it got there early the next day, and by noon I had my car back up and running. And each time there was a change in what needed to be done with the car I had always received a call to let me know what he thought and what he wanted to do in conjunction with that. Parts and labor is relatively the same but great service is more than I could've asked for. Perhaps it is like those moments in movies where someone gets saved and they begin to imagine their savior as some sort of angelic personification. Or when people are taken hostage and due to the time being under their thumb they begin to identify with the criminal. In any case, I'm glad that I came here and was very happy with my experience.

I brought my vehicle in for the first time to Becka Automotive for two different issues. One was diagnosed immediately and repaired on the spot. The other issue was interior body molding related and had nothing to do with the mechanical workings of my vehicle. For reasons beyond their control, they advised that they didn't want to risk any damage to my vehicle by trying to remove an unrelated part in order to get get to the actual part requiring replacement. To be honest, the dealership quoted over $300 to fix the same issue which I was equally concerned had I decided to pay the $ and have Hyundai do the job. I appreciated the honesty and integrity which Becka provided me and wouldn't hesitate for one second bringing my vehicle back to them for future maintenance and/or repair needs. On top of that, they really took care of me as far as the other issue I had brought my car in for. :) Kudos to Robert, Kevin and the team at this family owned business!!!

Becka has really handled me giving an honest review strangely. They contacted my mechanic at Fix N Go for my information and messaged me on yelp. Just a yelp message would have been fine. I did make one error in my review - Becka charged me $90 not $74 for unplugging my alarm horn and charging the battery.
It's too bad this was handled this way. Also, the previous flag comment said that I was not a customer and that I had reviewed the wrong business - wow, overly defensive and dishonest. This time, I took a screen shot of the following:
"It took Tomas over a year to review Becka. The Honda was towed in and under his fathers name with a no start condition and car alarm going crazy. The alarm was not repairable so it was disabled and documented on the invoice that the battery was marginal. I could guess that's why Tomas went straight to AutoZone after the Honda was repaired to replace the battery himself . Tomas did mention in the review he had no more electrical problems. His Father has returned months ago for additional repairs. The invoice was #30195. I also hope the best for Mike at Fix N Go. Robert Becka Automotive. "
And I went straight to Autozone because my car died on the way home. Thanks for the "marginal" battery. No idea what "under his fathers name" implies. I should have had a separate invoice & you guys took down my cell number. God bless.
PS Robert, I had no electrical problems because I just needed a new battery which Autozone diagnosed in under 5 minutes (FOR FREE) then helped me install. Charging a bad battery & unplugging a horn - $90. Finding a new, excellent mechanic - priceless.

I work at Goodrich just across the trolley tracks so I gave them a try just out of convenience. This place is the best. They are honest and have declined to fix things I thought I needed. examples:
I asked them to replace the shocks on my truck. They told me "the shocks work fine, you don't need new ones".
Another shop near my house told be that I need new rack and pinion seals. They told me "it will cost over $1,000, and if you can just keep an eye on the fluid level you should be fine for a long while. They are small leaks." Once they even changed my oil for free "because it needed it really bad" they told me. I have four cars and I take them all there now.

i have not been to these guys for many years.
not because a bad experience but because i got a dependable car.
My first car (and my first love) was a '67 ford mustang.
I loved that car but she was out to kill me.
i had lots of problems with her.
The previous owner didnt do much for maintenence.
When i got the car at 17 it was 30 years old.
Being 17-25 when i drove the car i didnt have a great job so opted to do most small repairs myself.
I often called these guys up with questions.
They helped me a lot.
The larger repairs that i couldnt do on my own i did with them.
The first time i went to them the mustang was dying on the side of the road.
Autozone recommended that i replace the battery.
I did. A few weeks later she was dead again.
Autozone told me to check the alternator.
I took off my alternator and took it to autozone.
They checked it for free. They said it was charging fine.
They told me i would need to go to a mechanic for a diagnonsis.
Growing up in chula vista, i opened the yellow pages (this was the late 90's)
I started calling mechanics for advice and a good fair price.
There are a lot of mechanics. Lots starting with the letter A.
Most wouldnt tell me anything over the phone. Almost none would even give a price range for "best case scenario" and "worst case scenario"
The guys at Becka told me it was probably a bad alternator.
They told me the charge was $30 dollars for diagnosis. But if i got my car fixed with them that the $30 dollars would be applied to the labor.
I was appaled at the price. (i was like 19 by then so $30 dollars seemed like a lot)
But i went with them anyways. some other mechanics asked for a lot more for diagnonsis.
When i got there Dan helped me.
He again told me it was probably the alternator.
I told him it wasnt, because autozone told me it wasnt.
After the diagnosis he reported that it was indeed the alternator.
Autozones equiptment was not as good.
He offered to replace it. I declined because that was something i could do on my own.
The new alternator was indeed the solution to that problem.

I am an out of state student that found myself on a major bind after going to my internship down at the Chula Vista Court House (South Bay). I called my father that is very knowledgeable about cars and told him I heard a clicking noise coming from the engine. He told me to check the oil level on my car and not to take it on the freeway at all without making sure I had some. Well, after leaving court, suit and all, I had to see what was going on with my car, sure enough little to no oil.
Since I am not used to the area I googled places near by and after having bad experiences in the past with Jiffy I decided to do someone local.
I drove up to Becka Automotive and found Robert on his lunch break. Not only was he more than willing to take a look at my car in the middle of eating while his techs where out, he filled my oil for me on the spot and provided friendly conversation. He didn't make me wait with something so simple when I know a lot of places would have. All I know is that he saved my day and I will always go back there again regardless what part of SD I live in (I live in PL). I have already made recommendations to many of my friends.
Thanks to Becka Automotive I wasn't stranded in Chula Vista and still made it to class within the half hour! Best service ever!!

Wow!! Becka Automotive in Chula Vista on F Street is awesome. We had a gas leak in our car one day so we took it to Becka to take a look. They ran some tests, let it run to see if they could recreate the leak and even took parts of the engine off to trace the fuel lines and it wouldn't leak for them (just like when you go to the doctor and you aren't sick anymore). They kept it for two days to check it out and still nothing. When my husband went to pick it up, they said "no charge." Now that's awesome customer service.
We have been taking our cars to Becka for almost 10 years. Even when we lived in El Cajon, we would travel to Becka. They are honest and that is so important in a mechanic. There are too many mechanics who will try to take advantage of people who don't know a lot about cars, so getting an honest mechanic is a true diamond in the rough.

This is a neutral review. I have no empirical first hand data from which to tell you whether or not Becka Automotive is an outstanding or mediocre auto repair shop.
This is because when I called Becka on the phone and explained my car (2003 Ford Taurus) troubles, (which was the battery light coming on and lights dimming) the employee I spoke with told me I was probably better off taking it somewhere else, in particular a Ford dealership mechanic. Now, this could very well be sound advice based on the man's professional opinion.
However, the person I bought the car from (in May) told me that whenever he had a problem with the car he took it to Becka Automotive, so they have serviced this car before and put an alternator in it in March of this year, which was why I found it a little strange that they wouldn't even want to take a look at it. Something else, when I took it into Midas in July when the car stalled the technicians told me... well this is what they wrote on the service report...
"Alternator is brand new and alternator harness has been spliced. Do not know if harness is correct one for alternator. Technician noticed silicone on alternator clip that looks broken. Suggest customer to return to shop who serviced alternator". That's Becka, the last shop who serviced the alternator.
Albeit, when my car shut down on the highway about a month ago, I had it towed to the nearest mechanic, 2K Kustoms, and they installed a new alternator. When the battery light came on a week or two after this, I took it back to 2K Kustoms and they told me they couldn't find out the problem and that it was not a mechanical issue, but an electrical one (and they don't service electrical systems). I did tell the Becka Automotive employee this and he said that electrical issues are complex and the diagnostics and troubleshooting to find out the exact problem or faulty wiring or sensor malfunction problem could cost a lot of money in itself, which is why he suggested I take it to a Ford dealership because their mechanics have experience dealing with Ford electrical systems. I'm not going to do that though, because Ford dealerships are notorious for overcharging and several people I know have had horrible experiences with taking their vehicles into Ford.
I'm no mechanic, but 3 alternators under 95,000 miles doesn't seem right to me.
I just found it a tad odd that Becka wouldn't want to service a car they had already worked on and have a service record for. I've never had a mechanic shop pass me on, although he did give his reasons and I am not putting down their mechanical skills as I have not been privy to them.

My first experience at Becka occurred shortly after graduating from college about 7-8 years ago. I needed to repair the air conditioning to my '91 Nissan Stanza (the fan kept turning off randomly). After bringing it in and inspecting the car, Dan called me promptly and informed me that a loose connection was responsible for the problem. He didn't charge me and said that if repairs to the air conditioning were necessary in the future they likely would exceed the value of the vehicle. Dan's honesty impressed me and in fact it's part of Becka's standard business practice that I've witnessed several times since then. In addition, their work is always top-notch. I have recommended Becka to several family members and friends.

For a long time, I've been looking for an honest mechanic... someone that's not going to give me the usual runaround (then tell me my whole car is practically broke) that I and many others have become accustomed to, it felt like a neverending trial and error so I threw away the Yellow Pages and stumbled upon Becka in a Christian business phone listing (is that even legal anymore) and figured I'd give them a try...
It didn't take long to figure out that this was going to be my home for car care and finally at ease to know that a truly honest and genuine mechanic does exist (and wasnt just an oxymoron)! So honest that they will tell you and recommend you else where if or when it's better for you, ie financially... You can be sure that they always have your best interest in mind. Not only are they skillful, knowledgeable technicians but they are all great people too and, after 13 years now, have become like family.
I highly recommend Robert and his team of technicians to anyone, in the same way I have trusted him with me and my family for years.
Likewise, I am sure you will quickly discover the same experience.

I'm a visitor to Chula Vista with car problems. Dan at Becka Automotive was very prompt and helpful. He was on time as promised and gave me confidence about the noise my car made. The problem is intermittent and Dan assured me he would be available if the problem comes back. The shop appears neat, organized and clean. Very professionally staffed and equipped. There aren't enough stars for these guys. Everytime I've gone there it has been first rate work,fair prices and, kept me informed. They make recommendations for improvements on the car but don't twist your arm. I brought a truck in that the factory couldn't fix and they made it better than new.
