It was a super rainy El Nio day, I hit a giant pothole on the freeway which bent the rim on my front right side tire and caused the tire to go flat.
On this Sunday afternoon with no auto shop open near by, I called Extra Care auto shop. Mike answered the phone and offered to help me get back on the road safely. (His shop was not open normally on Sundays)
Mike carefully inspected the tire and test drove the car. His attention to detail and precision oriented approach impressed me. I am an engineer myself so I appreciate how someone cares about technical excellence. More importantly, Mike cared about doing the job right to make sure his customers drive safely.
Mike also verbalized every detail of his steps to fix my bent rim and how it caused the tire to leak air slowly. I loved his communication of his work, it allowed me to understand exactly what was being done to my car.
I having been looking for a mechanic like this ever since I left the last city I lived in. Now I have found him!!!!
They take Extra Care for their customers at this auto shop that's for sure!

So happy I found this place. They got me in first thing the next day and Jim was great. He was very informative about the specific issue and all of my options going forward. He's a well-versed, experienced mechanic and efficient. Had a 24 hour turnaround time on a major repair. Haven't had any issues since! Customer service was also on point. This is the most honest, trustworthy,reasonably priced auto shop I have ever been to in my entire life!! I actually feel good when I spend my money here, because I know an honest no nonsense, non gauging repair has been performed.

Went to this shop today for car inspection on my BMW thinking I needed to change the brakes and oil! The guys who work there did the inspection and were completely honest they told me my car was fine and I didn't need to change anything! If it was someone else they could have easily ripped me off. I'm definitely coming back here again and this place is totally recommended!

After having repaired our car at a different station and receiving very bad service, we found Larry. He was able to find the problem and answered all our questions. Others had failed to find the underlying problem with our car, but Larry did. We recommend this station because they really do provide Extra Care. We even had our second car repaired at this station. These guys are the real deal; no bs, no sales pitch, just good honest work conducted by very experienced and knowledgeable gentlemen.
My commuter car has been slowly dying so I took it in here after it started having a rhythmic thump in the rear end that destroyed my confidence in it's reliability. I needed it fixed ASAP before my commute home, and started calling around for a shop that could help me quickly.
The local chain shops were too busy, so I started hunting around. Extra Auto Care was in the area and had good reviews, so I gave them a call.They said I could bring it in immediately and they could take a quick look today (~2pm).
After a short test drive they immediately isolated the problem to an issue I was to blame for. They fixed it for me, then did an additional extensive test drive to ensure there were no hidden issues I might not have noticed. They even walked me through how to fix several minor issues myself (squeaky pedals, alignment issues, etc).
Despite their expenditure of time, and the fact that I was more than prepared to pay them for my peace of mind alone, they did not charge me one cent for their help!
In addition they even took the time to print out a $0 receipt proving they stand by their work (even if its free)!
Give them a try, you will not be disappointed in their service or their integrity!

I took my car in the have the brakes checked because Midas said I needed new brakes. After a brake inspection Larry told me - my brakes were fine. Hello - honest! Love that. Larry looked over my car (per my request) and I was able to get my timing belt changed and new tires all done in two days. They were honest, fast, nice and flexible with my timing needs.
I highly recommend this shop.

The Extra Care shop did a great job with our Sienna and my Dad's Camry. Everything was fixed and no issues whatsoever after the repair. We also received a lottery scratch ticket after paying for the repairs; a nice way to throw the dice and earn back the money spent on repairs. All in all, a great shop.

Had a very pleasant experience going to Extra Care, based off Yelp/Google reviews only. I had a nail in my tire and wanted it fixed quickly. I was in and out within 20 minutes. The owner even backed my car out of the garage for me so I wouldn't have to deal with oncoming traffic, which though was not necessary was very chivalrous and considerate! I'm 9 months pregnant and I'll take any additional courtesies that come my way! :) One less thing to worry about for me and a relief to find great service via the internet. Thank you!

I went here a month or so ago, and have been wanting to write a review ever since, because I was so impressed. I'm sorry it's taken so long to give this place the 5 stars it deserves! Hands down the BEST SERVICE I've ever had from a car shop.
I have a hybrid and noticed a strange indicator light on my dashboard, and since this place is close to my work and had good Yelp reviews, I brought it to Extra Care Auto Repair to have it looked at.
+1 star - Larry gave me a ride back to my work so I wouldn't have to wait around, stuck there, while they looked over the car!
+1 star - Larry offered to pick me up again from work at the end of the day!! He saved me from having to call a taxi to get back.
+1 star - After confirming the light was on due to the hybrid battery, and guidelines said the battery needed to be replaced - Larry called the dealer where I'd had work done before (after consulting the repair log that I'd left with the car) to see if they could help me out with the warrantee. It turns out my car was just past the warrantee mileage for the battery and they wouldn't be able to do anything for me.
:( But awesome that he made that call for me, and saved me the time!
+1 star - He called another dealer that he works with frequently and convinced them to give me a deal on a replacement battery! And he offered to go pick it up for me! I didn't end up replacing it because the cost of replacing the battery was more than we wanted to put into the car at this time, especially as we are thinking of getting a larger vehicle to fit our growing family - but it was so great of him to go through so much trouble to try to help me out.
+1 I did end up having my oil changed, etc done while the car was there since it was due for the servicing, which was reasonably priced.
+1 for an all around great experience. Belated thanks, Larry!! Too bad Yelp doesn't have a 6 star option!

Like many yelpers...I read through the reviews and decided to give Extra Care a try. With only two reviews, I was skeptical. Since both of reviews were highly positive; I gave it a try. My car was having major issues and I was in need of a mechanic ASAP. I took my car here because I was visiting relatives near the area and it was AAA approved.
I have to say that my experience with the owner was good and I am writing the review much later because the part broke on me and needed to be replaced again after exceeding the warranty mileage. The labor Extra Care did was quality, but the part wasn't. It was faulty and didn't last. Due to all my commuting, I reached the 12,000 mile mark much earlier than 12 months which were the stipulations of the warranty. I opted not to go back to Extra Care because I didn't want to go the 50+ mile one way trip again to resolve the broken part issue. Since the incident, the owner, LARRY, has been extremely persistent about making the situation right with me which I find HIGHLY RESPECTABLE and COMMENDABLE as a business owner. Although my car was over the 12,000 mile warranty mark, he did honor the warranty and restored my trust in auto mechanics doing QUALITY business.
The service was quality but the part wasn't. THANKFULLY, Larry is a quality business owner and believes in satisfying his customers. Had I been up for the challenge of driving back and forth as well as wait to get my car fixed, Larry would have most certainly made things right by replacing the broken part free of charge [his words]. Although I wasn't, Larry was. He has since refunded me the money for the faulty part and as I stated before, restored my trust in auto mechanics engaging in good business practice.
The moral of this yelp review: Extra Care DOES CARE about its customers. If you have a problem or incident that happens with their work, DO NOT hesitate to call Larry.

I'm only not giving him 5 stars because the work I had was minor.
BUT...Larry is a straightshooter. He could have rung me up on a simple problem for close to $500, but instead he said, "Lets try the 8 dollar fix first, and if that doesn't solve it, then we'll explore other options."
That alone had me convinced.
One of the shops around the corner quoted me close to $150 for what Larry did for $45 in 3 minutes.
He can fix boats, cars, bikes, you name it, and as someone who has traveled the world and met all kinds of people, I know he's an honest guy. For me, that's what counts most when getting my car fixed.

I went to Extra Care because my dealer wanted $800 to replace my cracked motor mounts. Extra care quoted me $500 and after examining the vehicle stated that the mounts had stress cracks and did not require replacement at this point. Total cost: $58 including diagnosing my check engine light was related to an improper seal at the gas cap.

Larry called me to discuss the review that I gave and said he did not think it was fair for me to give them three stars when the delay was caused an issue with getting the part from Melody Toyota (the local dealership). In fairness to him, the repair was well done and we have had no problems in the six months since the repair was completed. At the time, it was frustrating to have the repair delayed like it was, and considering my ignorance of how Toyota repair part distribution works, I am inclined to give Extra Care the benefit of the doubt.

EVERYONE, this is your 1 stop shop for good, reliable work! I take all of my vehicles here from my wife's corolla to my 95' twin turbo supra. Larry and his staff are the real deal. I have had NO problems with any of my vehicles since i began bringing them here for a few years now, & i rest assured because the parts (including labor) have been warrantied for an extended period of time. (Different parts & applications will vary, inquire within.) The bottom line is, HONEST & RELIABLE WORK doesn't cost you an arm and a leg at Extra Care-their prices are extremely reasonable! BEFORE you take your car ANYWHERE else, take your car to Extra Care for a secondary opinion...You'll be GLAD you did!

As others have said, it can be very difficult to find a car mechanic that is reliable and trust-worthy; especially if you are not that confident in your own automotive knowledge. Originally I met Mike when I bought my 2001 Mustang from him. There were a couple of minor issues with the car which he was happy to fix for me for free after I bought it (to be honest there was no real obligation for him to do so).
I had just moved to the Bay Area, and was concerned about finding a good mechanic, so I decided to start using Mike for all my servicing needs. I did this even though it's actually a bit of a hassle for me getting my car there (I live in SF - but the guys are always happy to pick me up or drop me off at the BART). Eventually I decided to use them for servicing m wife's 2003 Subaru as well.
So for the past 3+ years Mike and Larry and the rest of the guys have continued to give me great service. They have never encouraged me to get things done that aren't really needed - and are happy to discuss options - pros/cons - and keep costs down for me where-ever it makes sense, and is not likely to either effect safety or create long-term problems.

My car broke down with a broken thermostat and water pump (major overheating!) on 101-N near Candlestick Park, and I needed it towed to a nearby facility. It was late afternoon, about 5pm, on a Thursday. Most places were already done answering the phone, but this place really came through for me. Other places I called said, "It's getting late and we're closing. Park on the street and leave your keys in our mailbox...trust us...we'll call you when your car is fixed." When I called this place, Mike Rosen (owner) picked up and said "I'm here till midnight. Bring it in, I've got you covered." He delivered above-and-beyond friendliness, transparency, and service. These are honest guys doing good work. We bring all of our family cars to this shop because of the quality care and honest prices. Would highly recommend them to others.
