These guys are total pros. They know what they're doing, have great availability, and are honest and transparent.
I took my M3 into them after an engine malfunction and they were able to diagnose the problem within hours. After walking me through the repairs that needed to be made, they moved quickly - ordering the part and replacing it within 2 business days.
As an added benefit, they are right next to the Palo Alto Caltrain station so easy to drop your car off and go elsewhere.
I would absolutely recommend them

The team at Palo Alto Bimmer is the best. They have helped on 5 different cars (BMW and Mini) over the years for us.
Tires, lights, air conditioning, routine services, strange rattles...they can manage it all.
Most helpful in understanding the issue and the options, best pricing, quality care.

Had to replace a broken turn signal assembly. Called in yesterday afternoon. Guy with a thick Eastern European accent answers the phone, tells me he'd have to order it and that he can have it in by 10am this morning.
I drove over today. He installed it on the spot for no extra charge. I was in and out in about ten minutes. Another guy, also with a thick accent, was able to diagnose from a one sentence description what was up with my power seat recliner. Apparently it's a common issue for E36.
Great service from some real pros.

Bottom line: If you care about any manufacturer warranty you are entitled to, DON'T COME HERE.
We have been a customer here 2-3 times. 3 months ago, we had all of our 4 Continental tires changed here. Unfortunately, after 2 months, we were on a highway and 1 of the tires got punched and eventually broke. After we got back from our 3-week vacation, I took the tire back to Palo Alto Bimmer and asked if the tire itself provided any warranty. The guy looked at my broken tire, told me that it was not repairable, and told me that we drove on the tire and broke it. Feeling helpless, I asked if they could check for manufacturer warranty for me. I was told to leave the tire in the store and they will get back to me.
Waited for 2 days and no one called me. I called them up and asked about my tire. The staff said to me, 'I took a picture of your tire and sent it to them (Continental Tire), they laughed at me. We can put in a new tire for you for $175.' I asked them to call Continental tire and told them what happened to us on the highway. The staff told me that it was a waste of their time. If I wanted I could call them myself.
I looked up Continental Tires and called customer service. I explained our situation and the representative told me that our tire should be covered under warranty. I then called Palo Alto Bimmer again. They asked if I told them that we drove on the punched tire and broke it. I had to call Continental tire again. The representative heard my story and still said our tire should be covered under warranty. We were then referred to America's Tire, who talked to Continental tires, and replaced our broken tire (exception granted because we did not have the original purchase tire receipt) for just under $20 of labor cost.
The fact that Palo Alto Bimmer was reluctant to help us claim for our manufacturer warranty really made me doubt where the store sourced their 'Continental tires', or if they have already thrown away our purchase receipt to avoid the hassle of honoring the warranty that their clients are entitled to. In any case, it did not seem to me that they care about their clients apart from the immediate profit they can make from them.

I drive a BMW and most of the time I take it to International Auto Clinic in Cupertino for all routine maintenance and repairs. However, they can get very busy, and, as such, I've brought my BMW here several times when IAC was booked solid and they couldn't fit me in for a while. I have also taken my Bimmer to several BMW dealerships as well.
Although IAC will always be the first place I go to for my car, Palo Alto Bimmer is an outstanding independent BMW service shop in its own right.
Pros:
+ No charge for diagnostics (at least, every time I've been there, they haven't charged me a penny for diagnostics)
+ All they work on is BMWs and Minis. That's it. As such, each technician, according to what I've been told, is BMW-factory trained. So it's nice to know that you have people working on your car who know what they're doing,
+ Milenko, the owner, is a very nice guy and he always does a great job at explaining in detail what work has been and may need to be done on your car. I've also dealt with Khosro, Majid and a select few other employees whose names I can't remember and they've all been nice and helpful.
+ They're conveniently located in downtown Palo Alto at the corner of Alma and Homer. The location is walking distance from the Palo Alto Caltrain Station, as well as many eateries and restaurants.
+ Excellent customer service: on one occasion, after having a brake fluid flush done on my Bimmer, the brake light circuit died on me. Milenko had one of his techs come out and take care of it. When I went back to pay again, Milenko told me not to worry about it and sent me off without taking any payment for the circuit problem.
Cons:
- PAB, just like my primary shop,IAC, tends to be very busy. So busy that their parking lot, and the surrounding streets, are filled with BMWs and Minis on a daily basis. Be sure to schedule an appointment in a timely manner and to get there early on the day of your appointment.
- This isn't too big of a deal, but their invoices are handwritten and not typed. Personally, I prefer typed invoices because they're more detailed and transparent.
I give them four stars. They're not perfect and they're not my primary shop, as previously explained. But they're an excellent choice for those who seek an independent BMW service shop that can get the job done.
4 stars

I have been taking my 2002 BMW to them ever since the warranty was up on the X5. They are so professional and know exactly what it is wrong with each issue the SUV has had. Sometimes, Mike has just fixed the problem in a few minutes and never charged me a thing. I am taking it in for the last time this week as I am selling it to my daughter and I bought a Range Rover to replace it. I am sad I won't get to see Mike on a regular basis, but hope my daughter will continue taking it here---they really are the best!

Overpriced and sloppy - cut corners, bad customer service.
PAB at first seemed great - friendly enough, knew my car, nearby, explained the options to me. However, as a former mechanical engineer and hobbyist, I often work on my own cars. After PAB had done work on my 2003 330xi, which I was satisfied with although paid $100-200 more than usual for, I was under the car and noticed they'd drilled several new holes into the frame to reattach a mud guard they'd lost the clips for, instead using sheet metal screws. I had been under the car just before taking it to them, so I knew they were the only ones who could've done this. This mounting mechanism was impossible to realign once removed, unlike the $0.50 clips from BMW that it's supposed to be held on with, and now there are extra holes in my frame. I bought the clips myself and reattached it properly.
The more frustrating part is that I called and told them what had happened, and they just said "Okay." I then told them I'd be taking my business elsewhere, they said "Okay." I hung up. What I didn't tell them was that I'd also come share it on yelp. Avoid PAB if you're looking for a trustworthy BMW mechanic - they cut corners and you can do better. Sadly, I don't have any other recommendation yet, as I'm new to the Bay.

I've had my car serviced here several times and the owner and entire staff are fantastic. They go out of their way to only do the work that is necessary and on many occasions do not charge for minor items or an evaluation. I know that when they say something needs to be repaired, it truly does. I'm in the market for a new car and if I don't get another BMW, I'll be sad to miss out on the great service PA Bimmer offers.

I only ever write a review when I feel strongly about a business. So after taking my car to Palo Alto Bimmer, there's no way I couldn't write one. My car needed an alternator and an oil change so I started asking around. I called BMW of Mountain View and they said they'd charge me $2000. $1700 for the alternator and $300 for an oil change (they said because it's a diesel). There was no way I was paying that so I called Palo Alto Bimmer, I believe Milenko answered and after a couple of minutes, he called me back and gave me an estimate. It would be $878 for the alternator and $150 for the oil change. I told him I'd call him back but after the reading the reviews I decided to go through with it. I came back and the bill was $1010. He said he hooked it up cause I was a first time customer, sweet! I only had $1000 and was going to pay the remaining $10 with a card but he said not to worry about it and to have a good day. The next day I got a notification that my left brake light was malfunctioning. Thinking it had to do with the alternator, I took it to Milenko. His guy took a look at it and replaced the light a few minutes later. I asked Milenko how much I owed him and again he said not to worry, I know right?! Needless to say I will be coming back whenever my car needs something fixed. They go above and beyond to get your car whatever it needs and it's the same quality of a dealership, with half the cost. I thank Milenko and his staff for getting my car working again.

I've been coming to Palo Alto Bimmer for many years. They have always provided excellent service, but have always charged substantial amounts of money for that service. I do not do comparison shopping so do not know how their fees compare with others. But, today ...
I was low on transmission fluid. I have a slow leak and a strange transmission (SMG on a 2004 325i) where fixing the leak would be timely and expensive and require getting hard to get parts etc. Today, I pulled in with the shifting intermittently not working due to lack of fluid. The lifted my car, did the computer diagnosis, and refilled my transmission fluid while I waited -- and they sent me off without charging me a penny.
You can write this off to crafty marketing helping to secure me as a loyal customer. Regardless of how calculated it was, it worked. Got me saying nice things about them today!!

I've had my car serviced here on many occasions over my car's 130,000 miles. Have never had any issues with these guys and always appreciated the great service. I'm writing this review today because I had a truly great experience with Milenko last week. I had driven down to Los Angeles and had some car troubles on the very last leg of my drive. I wasn't sure if I could/should drive back to have it checked up or if I needed to have it looked at in LA.
I called Milenko, described the problem, and he recommended I have it fixed in LA. Not only that, but his daughter had recently had her car worked on in LA, so he put her on the phone and she gave me the details of that shop.
In the end, the shop she recommended was a bit too far from where I was staying, but the whole interaction left me with a good feeling. Bravo, Palo Alto Bimmer!

On last Friday, I had car trouble on my way to work. I heard some awful sound coming from my engine compartment. I would definitely come back to this shop for future repairs.

Pretty great shop. Consistent quality and work, and is conveniently halfway between my residence and work, so I can drop my car off in the morning, bike to work, and pick up my car at the end of the day! While the location might be slightly inconvenient (Homer is a one-way and Alma is crazy) it's a great location and they deal quite well with the volume of cars that are in the proximity. Prices are high, but it is expected due to the German nature of the vehicles. These guys are very classy and professional, and if they repaired bicycles I would take mine to them.

I found this shop to be not very professional and I won't be bringing my car any time soon. I brought the car with an ABS warning sign in the dashboard. They told me they fixed a speed sensor in one of the wheels, charged me $200 and told me that the warning sign was still on because the ABS computer was broken and needed replacement. This repair would cost me $1700. I brought my car to another repair shop and they realized that the computer was just wet. They just dried it and the repair cost me only $120.

I took my BMW to another general automotive shop first, and they had no idea what was wrong with the light on my car. They quoted me $500 of labor to take apart the front of the car and debug the problem!
I figured I should get another opinion, so I took my car to Palo Alto Bimmer. The experts here were able to figure out it was just a wire, then soldered the wire in place to make the light function correctly. The best part was that they charged a fair price for this, saving me over half of what the other shop quoted (just for labor)!
If you have a BMW, bring it here.

It happened again and it's worth noting. I had a problem with my check-engine-light, there was a simple fix to resolve the matter and once again, they did something without charge. He will always take good care of you and your car and won't rip you off.

Writing yelp reviews is not a habit of mine, but Palo Alto Bimmer has so consistently delighted me that it feels wrong not to give them the 5 stars they deserve.
The guys at Palo Alto Bimmer are class act and know their stuff. I've worked with Mike and Eddie -- they are just terrific. I have complete trust in them and their abilities. As a result, I've been a customer for over five years.
What really stands out though is that they consistently do 'the right thing'. Here's just the most recent example. A few months ago, I had an expensive repair. Unfortunately, the issue re-occurred, giving me the opportunity to see whether they would stand by their work.
They did, 100%. The part was under warranty, but the dealer said it would have to wait a week. Mike could have told me that I had to wait a week -- it would have been the truth. But instead he went out of his way for me, getting the part himself, completing the repair in a day, and filing a claim for reimbursement. Not only that, but he comped the labor (which he didn't have to do, but it was the right thing in my opinion)
Palo Alto Bimmer is clearly in the business of building long-term customer relationships. They've certainly got mine.

One of my headlights went out, and the local BMW dealership quoted me $295 for a replacement/installation. I figured that was ridiculous, so I called Palo Alto bimmer for a quote. They told me they couldn't give me a number without seeing the car and suggested that I should drop by.
About two months later (oops!), I finally show up, poker face on. I get a few blank stares, but one of the guys comes over and asks what trouble I'm having. I tell him my front light is off, he tells me to turn on the car and the lights. I do. He tells me to turn off the lights. I do. Without a word, he disappears, comes back, replaces a bulb, tells me to turn on the lights - VOILA, they both work! - and then tells me to have a nice new year.
WHAT. he tells me it's such a simple fix that there's really no point in charging me for the part or the labor. he then tells me to have a great new year, and to come back if i have any "real" problems with my car. soooooo nice. if this is the kind of friendly, honest business these guys run - I'll definitely be back!

This place is great. We've been taking our BMW here for over 5 years. You never feel like you're being taken advantage of - very fair prices. And Mike often takes care of small things you didn't ask to be fixed for FREE! When I went to pick up my car one time I told him I had forgotten to ask to have the headlight replaced. He had already fixed it without me asking!

I've been going to Mike for the past 15 years and he's such a legend. Got my first 2nd hand BMW back in 1998 and he's taken care of me since then (bought 2 newer BMWs and take the M3 to him now).
The work here is exceptional. The best thing about Mike is that he tells you what you need to get done and what's nice to get done/if you let it go on for longer, its going to cause problems etc. He even tells you some of the stuff that's nice "don't worry about it for now...." Here he is - a mechanic actually telling you to NOT spend your money.
He's done everything for me - from a service to changing the gearbox, radiator etc. All top notch work and fully guaranteed - but you don't need the guarantee with Mike because it never goes bad!
I go in today to ask him if he can go ahead and top off my washed fluid and change the windshield wipers. He does all that - and gives me an oil change - on the house! He wouldn't take my money.
Such a pleasure to work with Mile and his team.

What the Fo!?!? Hehe I called Bimmer about our 650i and a couple issues we were having with it and he was FANTASTIC!
Fo listened closely to the questions I had and immediately came up with an action plan to get the car back on the road safely as soon as possible.
He was able to squeeze me in for the urgent portion of the repair and we booked an appt for the following week to address the other issue.
When I arrived at the station I was greeted with smiles from the whole team. They helped me position the car for he quick fix and got me back in the road in minutes. We will certainly count on Palo Alto Bimmer for keeping both our BMWs looking and running great!

I went in because my X5 was shaking every time I pushed the brakes. I had no clue what I was talking about nor did I know if these guys would make fun of me for describing my problem like a clueless girl. The owner, Kosrow, explained to me how what exactly was the problem and had one of the mechanics describe in detail what was going on with my car so that I knew the correct terminology (which I so appreciated). I left my car there and they provided a ride to my work for me. They called later that day and gave me an estimate and did ask if I wanted to take care of a few other little details that my car needed. I told them that I couldn't spend the extra cash at this time and to just fix the issue I came in for.
They called the next day to tell me the car was done. I had a friend drop me off and I went to pay and to my surprise the owner said that he went ahead and fixed all the other minor details he described to me on the phone at no cost. It was absolutely the sweetest thing ever!!
I love this place! The guys are so friendly, so nice, and did not try to rip me off in any way. I do suggest making an appointment as they are SO busy over there.

The issue is in the customer care for me. Mike the owner is hot tempered or it's his way in expressing himself, but I am made to feel like a fool.
My car was overheating...replaced the radiator...$705.00. Said I blew a head gasket and argued with me in my driving habits. Saying that I knew I drove the car when it was HOT. I did not know it was HOT.
He also does not call when promised nor wishes to answer any questions, coherently. Then he says, after 2 days,I need a water pump. Another $758.00.
I would have ok'd the pump but the nagging little voice inside my head that says, "This mechanic is too busy, or wishes to cast you aside and wants to make up his effort from the radiator, with the new water pump.
All in all it leads me to feel the work is suspect. I am very sorry to say this. But he tries his best.

Outstanding Service, Quality and Customer Service!
I've been a customer of Mike's for a many years, they've worked on both my 330ci and my 745li. These guys do excellent work and really know what they're doing when it comes to cars. Car Care is their expertise and it really shows; they listen to your problems and are very thorough with making sure they get everything fixed and in top shape! You won't get this kind of service at any dealership and you won't walk away feeling like you've been robbed either.
I've recommended numerous friends to this shop who own BMW's and Mercedes and they've all been extremely pleased with the service on their cars and how honest the shop was.
I really can't thank Mike and his team enough for everything they've done over the years, without them I wouldn't have had such reliable BMW's especially my 745!!

They are professional, honest, thorough in diagnosing the problems and take care of their customers. They get the job on time, goes above and beyond to meet customer expectations. I've been taking my car to Mike for the last 10 years now. He just had my headlights sanded and they look almost like new. I couldn't see with my headlights even on high since I hadn't done anything about them for 15 years, It would have cost me $1000 each to replace each headlight and only cost me $125 each to have them sanded. Quite a savings!
I'm at 175K miles and he's replaced the timing belt, clutch, brakes, radiator, all at a substantial savings. He also tracked down, overnight, components that were draining the battery. Great person, and a great shop!

I took my 2007 Z4 in because the battery didn't hold enough juice to start the car. I did a quick diagnostic at home and saw that the battery was 12.3V instead of the 12.4-12.6 range and suspected the battery, but still wasn't sure.
In discussing, I let Mike know that the previous owner got the battery from his shop. When I picked up the car, the price was much better than I anticipated. Why? Because he pro-rate-warrantied the battery (not usual for shops to warranty across different owners)! Also, he did diagnostics on the charging and discharging (checked out OK).
OK, so here is the other thing. In addition to the battery, my car had gone into something called "transport mode". I saw in a forum that others have experienced this when battery goes low (even though it shouldn't happen ). Basically, the AC doesn't work, the heater only works on low, rear defrost doesn't work, etc. In every forum post, the person takes their car in to get this fixed, and there is a $ charge for it (even if battery is being changed along with it). Mike included the clearing of the codes , along with the battery change.

Last month I was completing a four week course of daily radiation therapy and trying to get my 15 year old Bimmer to pass its smog test that same week. Thankfully, I had taken the week off of work at the recommendation of my radiation oncologist. It was all I could do each day to get myself to radiation therapy then to the Bimmer guys and get there next recommendations to get my old guy to pass smog. They were so kind. I could not be in first thing in the morning because I was in treatment, but the minute I drove onto the lot, they took over. I just rested in the waiting area. Finally, my husband had to do some of the more extensive driving for the sensors, but we got it done. A true team effort. As others have remarked the Bimmer team does not charge for each minute they spend with you, but rather for the end result. I so appreciate this team, their professionalism, and sensitivity.

Amazing service and they know BMWs
I drove in with my 3 series with the check engine turned on, Mike looks under the hood attaches the diagnostic computer - checks something and says I fixed it for now but you need to get a,b and c done. No charge this time.Four other mechanics looked at it and we're not able to diagnose.
I brought it back and Mike walked me through the process, the order in which we needed to get things done. I was so impressed that I got my entire car fixed - came back at the time he asked me to and it was ready.
There is a reason why they are busy, they are good and feel like they share the same passion for BMW!

Funny how being a long time resident of Palo Alto I've passed this shop thousands of times and never thought twice about it because we didn't have BMWs. Now that both of the kids have them, am I glad we have PA Bimmer as an option.
Although my heart belongs to Harold at the competition (see my glowing review), one day my daughter's car had a problem and Harold couldn't squeeze her in. Thanks to Yelp I decided to try Palo Alto Bimmer. Mike was awesome! He diagnosed a tough problem - a vacuum leak - ordered the part, put it in and got the car back to us in a reasonable amount of time and cost. He also topped off all the fluids and reset the heater which wasn't working very well. I'm thrilled to now have two terrific options for the kids.
Don't worry Harold. We still love you too!!

I have been going to Palo Alto Bimmer for almost ten years. I've gotten to know Mike and his mechanics well. They do a thorough job on my car and have also given me a few free repairs over the years.
I first went to Mike because my remote key stopped working and the dealer told me that they can't fix it but I can buy a new key for $495. I called Mike and he told me to bring the key in so he can look at it. His mechanic (Majid) was able to reprogram the key within a few minutes at no charge.
They have also replaced my blown fuse, sanded and waxed my headlights at no charge. This is a great auto shop. They do quality work; their price is fair and they don't nickel and dime you.

I have loved this shop (and this team) for 3 years--always helpful, trustworthy, and quick.
Three weeks ago my trusty E46 overheated and left me sitting on the side of Hwy 9. I had it towed to Palo Alto Bimmer, where surprisingly it took 4 days to fix. No big deal, picked it up--replaced cracked expansion tank, thermostat, and hoses. Surprised not to see Mike around...
After three failed attempts to fix this issue for a total of ~$2,000 (and me being stranded by the side of the road three times), I'm done using this shop.
Is Mike gone or just checked out?

I took my 2001 BMW 330Ci to Bimmer earlier this week, based largely on Yelp reviews. I have to say it SURPASSED all my expectations.
Last December, my check engine light went on and I took it to another shop in SoCal that said the torque converter was bad. It would require a complete transmission rebuild (about $3-4k), but I could drive it longer until it began to seriously fail.
A few weeks ago, I was back in the Stanford area and the car began to struggle when idling and at low gears. I figured the torque converter was seriously failing, so I brought it to Bimmer to finally rebuild the transmission.
I talked to Mike, and he confirmed what the other shop said, but gave me a lot more information. He said the check engine light was on because the torque was slipping and caused an erroneous computer reading. The idling problem was due to the misfiring of of cylinders. I fully expected and planned to pay thousands of dollars for a rebuilt transmission. Instead, I paid well under a thousand dollars to get cylinders repaired, replace the front right turn signal, fix a broken window switch and other assorted electronic issues. I couldn't believe it. I was set to shell out three or four grand for all this, and I paid just over $600!
Put simply, if you have a BMW, bring it here!!!! Mike is a true professional and could have easily milked me for three or four thousand dollars. Instead, he gave me great advice and my car is running better than when I first got it years ago.
Thank you, Bimmer!!!

These guys rock. I stopped by months ago to buy a small part I needed and they didn't charge me and helped put it in. It was small but still, you don't see that these days much. So I intended to give them some business when I next needed work. Instead a couple weeks ago I brought my 335i to Stevens Creek to get it serviced. last time I do that. They charged an arm and a leg for a brake fluid flush and an oil change and told me I needed a new valve cover gasket and new tires. I new I needed new tires but didn't want to visit the dealer again after they made me wait 30 minutes to pick up my car since they lost it in their massive lot.
I got the tires at Tire Rack (they are great) and brought them to Bimmer who put them on and balanced the wheels for a very reasonable price. The also confirmed I don't need a new valve cover gasket....saving me about $1500 from BMW. BTW - Bimmer would have done the same work for less. Seems like not having all that overhead and being focused on the customer pays off. I'll be bringing my car here for everything going forward.

Every time I go here, I can't help but be blown away. I know I already reviewed Mike & team... but here's what happened today:
Me: "Hey Mike, think you guys can squeeze in an oil change?"
Mike: "Sure, just oil change?"
Me: "Yeah, think so..."
**magically someone is under my hood, changing my oil - within seconds**
Me: "Did it need an oil change?"
Guy changing oil: "Yes - good thing you came in. All done now."
Me: "Amazing! Mike, how much do I owe ya?"
**Mike just waives his hand like "don't worry about it" and walks off**
I FRIGGIN LOVE THESE GUYS.
Moral of the story: If you own a beamer, and you live within 50 miles... go here. Just do it. Trustworthy, efficient, and your dollar goes a long way. I'll never go anywhere else.

Having been loyal to Track Star in Mountain View for so many years to care for my precious 2000 M Coupe (ugly hatchback to you, but sexy and curvaceous to me), I'm now huge fan of Palo Alto Bimmer.
I work literally 3 min walking distance from his shop, which has been a huge bonus. Last year, my BMW X5 oil light came on so I walked there to buy some oil. Mike says he doesn't charge for oil and gives me 2 quarts free. Wow, when does that EVER happen?
I've since been going there for all sorts of needs for my 2005 X5 and my babied M Coupe. Never an appt, just drove up and asked.
Between the two cars, they've fix my alarm sensor, changed the brakes, replaced blown light bulbs, fixed a check engine light, done a service I, flushed my brakes and couple weeks ago got me a new battery.
With each visit, they've always been very professional, accommodating despite their busy schedules, and have been extremely fair on pricing, even going beyond what I would do if I owned the place.
For example, he fixed the check engine issue with a $100 part and said to try it out for a few days to see if it works. If everything is fine, I owe him the cost of the part. If not, I'm in for a big repair. The fix worked, but I got too caught up with work to drop by. This was a couple months ago and he did not hound me one bit.
So a couple weeks ago, my battery dies and I bring it to him. His guy gets me a new one and in 10 min the job is done. Mike says he'll only charge for the part, no labor. He brings up the check engine light issue before I can and asks if it's ok? I say yeah, no issues so far. We bump fists and he says keep it. No charge. I'm blown away again!
I am a marketing professional for a Fortune 500 company and my job is to build a loyal customer base through a great user experience. I can say without a doubt Mike has accomplished this through his trustworthiness, honesty, and easy going personality. Never once have I been concerned about the quality or professionalism shown from Mike or his staff. Think of them as an awesome uncle that likes to tinker with Bimmers.
I even told him the other day he's got the best job in the world.
One last thing, he's agreed to give me a discount to fix the moon roof on the M as long as I'm ok with leaving it there for a few days, let them work on it in their spare time. I see no issues with that at all.
I can't recall the last time anyone from any business has cared this much for their customers and not purely their own pocketbook.
Palo Alto Bimmer deserves more than 5 stars in my book.

After relocating to California from the east coast and my BMW warrantly promptly running out, I was nervous about where I would take my car knowing to avoid the BMW dealership shop. After finding this business listed on yelp, I made note of it for the time when I would need assistance.
Leaving work one Friday in South Bay just ahead of a weekend trip, my headlight sensor went off and sure enough, one of the two was out. I called Palo Alto Bimmer and he told me to come on in and he could have it fixed up in just a few minutes. That was service!
I arrived shortly after 5:30 PM and he pulled one of the techs to switch it out for me. For making the process so wonderfully efficient, I was happy to pay whatever price he had for me knowing driving my car would be safe for the weekend trip. When the work was completed, I waited patiently at the counter ready to swipe my credit card and he called me outside. He opened the driver side door and said you're all set. When I protested that I didn't pay, he smiled and said that his only request was that I come back for future car service issues.
Customer for life.

Every time the "check engine" lamp turns on in my '98 528i BMW, I brace myself for a possible $2,000 repair.
Borrowing a friends Peake diagnostic tool, I was relieved to learn it was only a camshaft sensor that had gone bad.
Palo Alto Bimmer confirmed the problem and fixed the sensor same day with no upsell. As long as the car was in good hands, I asked them change oil, filters, and do some other minor repairs, which were all done professionally for a reasonable price.
As I was leaving, we noticed a cosmetic wheel cap was missing. They dug one up and installed it for no additional charge.
Very happy with the service. This will be my regular, preferred mechanic from now on.

Somewhat of hit or miss here. Generally slightly pricey but I had good experience here overall. Though recently I asked to quote "brake pad swap only" (for taking car to track) and got quoted $330. I pointed out that it is a quick job that should take 1-1.5 hrs but guy behind counter stuck to his quote. For your reference I got quotes from few other "German specialty" shops in the range of $140-200 which makes more sense.

These guys are awesome. I had a problem with my headlight and I called them less than an hour before closing and asked if I could come in and they said no problem.
When I got there it was barely 15 minutes until closing (maybe less) but they offered to look at my car and try to fix it. Where I had parked I was boxing someone in and a woman on their staff even offered to move my car for me as she noticed I was trying to finish my to-go soup I had brought from work.
In less than 20 minutes they had fixed my light and didn't even charge me for it! This was my first time, and I didn't have any type of relationship with them before. They were really fast, had great customer service, and they didn't even charge me a dime. Definitely will be coming back next time I have a problem, even if I have to pay next time.

My BMW's engine coolant light came on, so I checked the fluid levels and it was dry, so I added some water and drove it to Palo Alto Bimmer before work in the morning.
By 5pm, I called to check the status and they said the car was ready. I showed up a few minutes later and asked what was wrong. They said they put the coolant system under pressure for a few hours and nothing leaked. They also said that coolant can sometimes evaporate under normal usage. So all that was done was the diagnostics, coolant flush/top-off, and my car was ready. I asked for another gallon of coolant fluid just in case. Total cost: "You owe me nothing. Just come back and see me when you need brakes or anything else done." That's how you win a customer over.

I took my 2006 Mini Cooper S in for overheating issues. I spoke to Mike on the phone who almost completed my sentences when I was explaining the problem. He knew right off the bat what the sequence of parts in the process was and very clearly pointed out all the areas of potential failure and their probability. I brought it in first thing in the morning and the Mini was running like new again by 5 PM. In my case, it wasn't the expansion chamber but the thermostat. The price was as competitive as it gets (probably the best!), but I'm happier about the fact that it's being worked on by someone who knows their stuff. No rip-offs here, just a guy who wants to help you. I think I've finally found my go-to Mini mechanic - this is my biggest parts replacement job since inception and I know it's in good hands here. Give the guy a chance to work with you.

Took my BMW 745i here when it was having electronic failures. It was out of warranty and the car dealerships were just too expensive. Palo Alto Bimmer is just such a well run shop. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place if you have a bmw and need a place that you can trust.

I was out in Palo Alto for an interview and noticed a huge nail in my front tire. Unfortunately, I'm a total dummy when it comes to anything car related... then, YELP to the rescue, I discovered a shop with over 4 stars for the keyword "tire" and decided to check this place out.
I called Palo Alto Bimmer and asked how much it cost to have my tire repaired, they practically laughed at me and said I was silly and that they would check it out for me.
I pulled up around 5:30, hoping they could fix it before I hopped on the road to the hour long Friday night commute back into SF, and they did!
They fixed it within 15 minutes for NOTHING, probably as a courtesy (and it doesn't hurt that I'm a girl)... I was so impressed by their chivalry that I scheduled an oil change with them in a few weeks EVEN THOUGH I live in SF - I think these types of vendors are few and far between and I'm willing to trek out to PA for great service.
Thanks Palo Alto Bimmer!

Mike and the rest of the staff at Palo Alto Bimmer do a fantastic job helping their customers. They are honest, dependable, hard-working, and produce great results. What more could one ask for?
My first interaction with Mike was to check out a car I was considering buying from a friend (and the one I now own). He gave a great run-down of potential issues at a very reasonable price. After this great experience, I continue to go back for any regular maintenance or issues that may come up. He has routinely helped out in substantial ways, often at no cost; for example, inspecting a tire that kept losing pressure, which required removing the wheel and examining it closely. Totally free!
He has even helped me with non-BMW cars, again at no cost and in a really thoughtful way. The battery in my friend's Audi had died from non-use, and I was trying to help my friend get the car started. I called up Mike about using my BMW to jump-start the Audi; he promptly told me to not even dream of doing that, and to come in and borrow his portable jump-starter! After doing so, he had me drive the Audi to his shop and hooked it up to his battery charger until he felt comfortable sending me off. Incredibly thoughtful and trusting, and I don't know how to find another auto mechanic who would do something like that.
I am very happy to have found a mechanic I can trust wholeheartedly to take care of my car. Now i can avoid having to pay exorbitant dealer labor costs and get a much greater level of service. Win-win.

We have been taking our bimmers to Mike since 2004. Besides routine service, PAB has done all sorts of work, including getting body repair and painting done by outsourcing to carefully chosen places. One time Majid rescued me when I got a flat on the way to the airport, a couple times he came over to our home to help with battery and tire valve issues, fixed on the spot immediately following our request for help. Finally, Mike even had a tech reattach the front panel guard under our son's Subaru, and then wouldn't charge for it. How amazing these guys are! We love taking our cars to PA Bimmer!

This is the second time I have taken my BMW to PA Bimmer. The first time they detected the issue and the charge was minimal. They go out of their way to find the problem and don't assume it is a larger issue.
The second time they could not find the problem and even after a full diagnostic, they did not charge me anything. I find them reliable and honest and I will definitely bring my car back in the future if needed.

I had three dashboard lights on - one related to tires, one to coolant, and one of my front headlights was out. I called Palo Alto Bimmer and they told me to come by anytime. Mike runs a very busy operation - something we can attest to, as he has something like 8 service bays, and a completely separate building simply to store his customer's cars. I first went to Mike a few years ago, when another mechanic failed to fix the oil leak on my old 540i. I paid $800 to this other shop - to fix an oil issue - and it kept on leaking. I figured at that point I'd better find another repair shop, as the people I was dealing with were obviously incompetent.
Enter Mike, stage left. I brought my car in for a quick consult regarding my oil leaks. Mike was able to look at the engine bay and quickly determine that my valve cover gaskets and my front main seal were the cause. He provided me a competitive price quote to perform the work - and I left my car there. I also asked Mike to proactively replace my water pump on my 130k mile 540i - as that was an original component that would likely need replacement soon. Mike gave me a noncommittal answer regarding the replacement.
Three days later (two days longer than promised) I got the phone call that reported it was ready. When I got the invoice I noticed that the water pump had not been replaced as requested. I questioned Mike about this and he said that there's no need to do it. Okay, fine.
Flash forward 5,000 miles and 3 months: I have an oil leak from the valve cover gaskets. Oh, and my water pump just blew up leaving me stranded.
Time to find another shop...

They are honest, straightforward and the prices are very good. Mike is no-nonsense and will tell you the truth. I have a 2002 Mini Cooper and have been there for oil changes and repair to an air pocket in my engine block - very satisfied with the result and cost.
Minus one star bc they often don't pick up their phone and never call you back. They also didn't call me when my car was ready for pickup after an oil change, as promised. Over the last few weeks, I left 2 messages because I wanted to schedule my next service and have a window motor repaired - I ended up going elsewhere (Pearce Autotech in SF - it's fabulous) simply because I couldn't get a hold of Palo Alto Bimmer. Shame, since I really like their service and would still recommend them and/or go back in a heartbeat.

I have used Palo Alto Bimmer for BMW service since 1987. That alone would be a strong endorsement, but I'm pleased to add more: Ok, after all those years, I feel like family there; but I see that they treat others the same way. I've introduced my friends, and they're Palo Alto Bimmer "family" now, too. Numerous times over the years, they've helped me out in urgent situations - quickly getting me back on the road for a long trip, patching a tire, diagnosing complex situations and making appropriate recommendations. Importantly, I also see a lot of stability in their mechanic crew, and they all seem to enjoy working in Milenko and Khosro's shop much more than anywhere they've worked before (especially where incentives are to get the customer out the door ASAP vs. really solving their problem).

I was working on my car and accidentally dropped a plastic end cap into the engine bay that got stuck somewhere on the plastic undercarriage. I had no car jack to raise my car so I called the closest BMW repair shop to my work. Mike picked up the phone and I told them my situation and asked for a quote. He said it was free. I couldn't believe it so I had to go check it out.
Once I got there, they raised my car up, took the bottom panel off and spent about 10 minutes looking everywhere underneath and found nothing. The plastic end cap must've gotten blown out while I was driving on the freeway because it's no where to be found.
I felt bad for wasting their time for nothing but Mike said it wasn't any trouble, it's always better to be safe to make sure it didn't get stuck in a belt or something.
I asked him again if he wanted any payment for the service and he said "you owe me nothing". Awesome place. Highly recommended!

I've been taking my 1997 528i to Milenko "Mike" at Palo Alto Bimmer since 2000. He and his crew are very knowledgeable, competent, honest. Mike tells me what needs repairing now, what can wait, and quotes a fair price. Recently they installed tires (from

When I lived in LA for 20 years, I had a similarly revered BMW mechanic (for my 1972 BMW 2002). When I moved north, I was grateful to find MIke at Palo Alto Bimmer. He runs an excellent shop. Highly recommended.

I have a 2000 BMW 328i, and I've had a whining noise coming from the engine compartment since last year. I've talked to other mechanics, and some say it's a leaking hose, and others want me to bring in my car for diagnosis. After describing the problem to Mike on the phone, he immediately pointed to the belt tensioner as the cause. His quote was also very reasonable. With all the positive reviews on Yelp, I decided to give Palo Alto Bimmer a try, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the results!
Mike nailed it with his initial assessment on the belt tensioner, and the noise is now gone. Not only that, he threw in an oil change (with my own engine oil and filter) and helped me re-initialize my rain sensor (I was having some intermittent issues with that)! He also changed my tail light bulb, and gave me a bunch of advice about maintaining my car. All these services were covered under the initial quote he gave me for the engine noise!
Mike and his team are detailed, honest, and helpful. They know BMWs and care about your car. I now understand why their shop looks like a BMW dealership with so many cars!

Gilbert is the man! I brought a car from home for my son to have while in school (saves all kinds of travel costs), however with older "college" cars they often need things. I brought the car into Palo Alto Bimmer and met Gilbert who understands and fixes things - not just a parts changer. They barely have customer services. They told you that they would call you

Both our cars are BMWs (Mini & 325i Wagon) and have been serviced here for 2 years and have had nothing but positive experiences in both workmanship, pricing, and individual attention. If Im not in a hurry I tell Mike, the owner, and he thanks me. If I am in a hurry he says he'll do everything to get my car back to me asap which is often the same day or day after. I like that I ALWAYS deal with the owner and that he has me sign off on each repair we agree to. He is a no nonsense, get to the point kind of guy and the mechanics I see are always busy working. Living 4 blocks away, I see his garage/lot is paaaaacked with cars each time I go by. I often choose local restaurants by how consistently full they are, and the same can be applied to mechanics.

I've taken my car there a few times, and they've always treated me honestly and fairly. I've been happy with the result each time.
For example, my check engine light has been on-and-off for the past four months. When I took it to the dealer, they told me that I needed to replace the catalytic converter, which is of course a very expensive repair. When I went to them, they told me that this was a warranty issue and that I should go to the dealer and ask them to reprogram the converter under warranty. They even suggested which dealer + service guy to go talk to.
I'm happy.

This review is from an enthusiasts perspective - i.e. I do my own oil changes, own a Bentley manual and do occasional work on my own.
The word that describes Mike and his shop is integrity. They know the cars, what they need and how to treat customers fairly. I have a good sense of how long things should take in terms of labor hours, and these guys don't take advantage of you.
I had a short shift kit installed and a few other bushings/couplings replaced that I definitely did not want to do myself. Mike did everything in a very reasonable amount of time and didn't charge me a dime extra on labor. He also threw in a bunch of other things at no charge (airbag light on, side SRS module connector busted).
Just don't expect a car wash or a loaner. Do expect your car to be serviced at a very reasonable price. Yes you might find a spot of grease on your interior - but that's sure better than the run around you get at the dealer who probably won't actually do any of the service your car needs.

Honest, no-nonsense, fast, reasonably priced - that's how I'd describe Mike and his team.
I took my BMW Z4 for routine maintenance - the honeymoon period with the extended warranty just expired, and the dealers were charging an arm-and-a-leg for the usual checkup. Mike got me an appointment within a couple of days, and quoted about 60% of the lowest dealer quote. It was the checkup at 60k, so I figured I should get the spark plugs changed (BMW recommends @ 100k, but most auto experts recommend @ 60k anyway). Mike basically said "don't worry about it - if it needs to be changed, we'll change it but otherwise you should know it's fine" - no attempt to upsell or make me pay for things I didn't need. He did have to change them, but the changed price was reasonable.
I also needed new tires, and Mike's rates were about 25% lower than at the tire store. Just one minor thing - I wanted to get the tire protection plan but it looked like he couldn't purchase that for me (these are standard tires, tire shops had the plan available).
Very friendly/accommodating - I needed a ride back to work (I work within a couple of miles) and they found someone to give me a ride.
In summary, I'm glad to have found this place and will no longer need to go to the dealerships! Thanks Mike and team...

What can I say? Mike is truly one of the last few honest mechanics around. We noticed that my BMW 330i was leaking small amounts of oil daily where we parked overnight so we took it in to have it evaluated. This was probably the 3rd time I've taken my car here (all for different issues). Each time, I come back more satisfied than I was on my previous visit.
Mike did a full evaluation and gave me an estimate for the work that he thought was absolutely necessary. He explained other work that might need to be done, but that work was not critical nor did it need to be done right away.
The estimate came back and I can't say I was surprised at the cost given that we had not had a full inspection done in quite some time. We had cracked gaskets, spark plugs, etc needed to be replaced, and other things with the engine needed to be completed.
Fast forward a week after I dropped the car off and I get a call that the car is ready. I go to pick it up and am in complete awe - my car looked like it had been detailed inside and out. Not only that, my front BMW emblem was faded and basically left for dead...so what do I see? Yes, that's right, Mike had the emblem completely replaced...brand spankin' new and no charge. He also replaced an oil light sensor at no charge (I had wavered on whether I wanted to get it done given the cost). So, if that's not enough, I got some cheap wiper blades at an oil shop - I didn't think they were cheap at the time, but functionally, they were extremely garbage. I asked Mike to see if he could check out my wipers. What do I see when I get there to pick up the car? Brand new wiper blades!! Again, at no charge. Um, what the deuce? Who does that?
Now let's get to the actual repairs of the engine - he showed me that he had the engine steam cleaned after the repairs. Sounds great, but how will it run? So after I pay for the repairs, I hop into my car and start driving like a BMW was meant to be driven. All the loud engine noise was gone and the thing has not run so smooth in quite some time.
I must admit, when I went earlier this year and Mike wasn't there, I was worried. Then I read some reviews below that said the place isn't the same without Mike. I wanted to take the car here because I know they do quality work, but I also trust Mike and his presence puts me at ease. So I called and sure enough, Mike was back. Turns out he had to go out of country to attend to family matters.
Anyways, the take home is - you will NOT be disappointed. Mike is a straight-shooter and will not try to upsell you. He presents the issues to you in a straight-forward way and there is no pressure to have any of the work done, be it here or anywhere else.
Honest mechanic...in Palo Alto no less! I would not think of taking my BMW elsewhere.

I pulled up there without an appointment to have them check the cigarette lighter connection after purchasing a 2nd hand BMW on the weekend.
They dropped all their work to help me out with what they knew was a quick fix. Now my GPS and Itrip works, which was really important to me !
A very very good first impression. No charge too as it's under warranty. I know where I need to go if anything else comes up. (touch wood it doesn't)

I've taken my 97 5-series for every repair under the sun to PA Bimmer. I can't express how much I love and trust these professional mechanics.
Fair prices for honest repairs. I never doubt if they are really fixing the issue. I've given up on taking my car to the dealership after comparing estimates when I first purchased my 528i. PA Bimmer has been keeping my car running smoothly for the past 8 years and there is no way I plan on going anywhere else.

I highly recommend Palo Alto Bimmer. Mike is fantastic and treats you like family. He is great at working on BMWs but adds a personal touch to his work ethic making it a pleasure to do business with him. He and his crew provide an accurate assessment of the problem at hand putting the customer's needs first, and his prices are very reasonable. A great place to get your BMWs services/repaired

I've been here twice in the past two years for more significant work and was treated well both times.
Last year I had this shop take care of a radiator leak and a broken window opener. Mike told me that I also have bad bushings on my front tires, but that I could put it off for a while.
This year I brought in my car for the bushings, a 90K mile inspection, more bad windows and some cosmetic work. They took care of all the work in a day and offered to put off the inspection since everything added up to a chunk of change (I did it anyway).
Whenever I show up, they take care of me immediately and they're honest and don't dumb things down to me. Contrast this with the Mountain View BMW dealership where they treated me like dirt, wasted hours of my time, and tried to upsell me on various crap. I'm much happier at Palo Alto Bimmer (and it's less expensive than the dealership if you're out of warranty like me - the same window repair was 30% more expensive at the dealership).
They're also very accommodating. They offered to house my motorcycle in their shop overnight when I picked up my car and had to juggle two vehicles!

I'm a busy working, professional mom and have very little time to do things like write reviews, but feel compelled to do so for PA Bimmer. Mike and his team there have taken care of my 745i for many years, and have been extremly honest, fair in their pricing and reliable in their maintenance and repair on my car. Ultimately, it had 200K miles on it and I sold it recently, so I expect I won't be seeing the Bimmer team much in the future as I changed to the Porsche brand. So, I want to say thanks for all the great years of service and helpfulness. I'm sure I couldn't have made it to 200,000 miles in the BMW if it hadn't been for the team there. Thanks Guys! Great work, reliability and service.

I recently had a flat tire. Never been to PA Bimmer before, I met with Mike. Within seconds I knew I was in the best hands. Mike took care of the tire, removing the nail and plugging it in no time. The best part other than his friendliness and courteous service? He refused to charge me for that service! A+++ service all the way. I can guarantee you I'll be bringing my car to him in the future. This shop is another hit or miss operation. You either get Milenko to diagnose your issue correctly, or like me; you end up with multiple issues that follow the primary one.
My service was quick, and Milenko was honest, but he wasn't able to fix a water coolant leak correctly which happened to explode when I was in the parking garage below one infinite loop... talk about embarrassment.

A great experience at Palo Alto Bimmer. Recommended here by a friend. The lot was packed with cars but Mike got me checked-in and I was on my way in no time. I needed my right window regulator fixed and an oil service. As promised today, he had the car ready for pick up and in perfect order. Explained what was done and didnt nickle and dime me for every little thing (like blown light bulbs etc.). Did I mention they were the most competitive priced of the quotes I got for this service. Great job! I will be back.

what a great experience. i took an obscure problem on my 2006 330ci convertible to "Mike" earlier this week. He and his team said they had never seen anything like it (the bolt the held the door stop on the driver side had come free and the nut was inside the car frame). They tried a few creative approaches and eventually figured out how to get a new nut inside the frame to attach a new bolt. they also fixed my splashguard and replaced a fog lamp. Very thoughtful, creative, quick and cost effective. i'm definitely going back.

I have been had my car serviced at Palo Alto Bimmer now for 3 1/2 years, and what I said originally is still true: You will pay less than at a dealership with the downside that you don't get free coffee, loaner cars, car washes etc.
Since my original review I have become somewhat disappointed, though, as I have had multiple repairs that needed "revisions". This has really become a pattern - to the point that I will lower my star rating now.
For example, during one service I asked to have the wiper blade inserts replaced. Palo Alto Bimmer decided to replace the whole wipers instead. Not a big deal (though unnecessary), but the new wipers didn't fit and hence didn't work. A second trip to the garage resulted in another set of wipers that also didn't fit, so a third trip became necessary and - again - the wipers were the wrong size and still didn't work. In the end, I simply didn't want to invest any more time into coming back again and again and ordered the original wipers online - problem fixed!
Then I had my sunroof serviced after it started to not work properly. After the repair the sunscreen was indeed working again. Just that the roof itself didn't close right (actually, it refused to close fully when I tried it the first time). It also made some very strange sounds... So another trip to Palo Alto Bimmer was necessary again. Fortunately, they got it right the second time, but Mike complained about how much time he had to spend to fix the repair, rather than apologizing that he didn't complete the job first time around.
Next the switch for my emergency lights gave out and needed to be replaced. Replaced it was, just that when I used the brand new switch for the first time it disappeared right into the dashboard... Again, another trip for a "repair of the repair" was in order.
Unfortunately, this wasn't the end having to have repairs fixed again, but I will save you the stories. Having to always come back at least once for anything other than an oil change gets rather tiresome after a while.
Another frustration has been that Mike at times will appear reassuring about the supposedly (low) cost of doing a repair - just to write a hefty bill after doing the repair.
My water pump went out, Mike gave me a quote, I agreed for the work to be performed, but when I came to pick up the car I was told that more work needed to be done. Fair enough, sometimes you don't know upfront what needs to be done. When I expressed my frustration and anxiety about having to spend even more money on this repair, Mike assured me: "Don't worry". Sounded like he was saying that he would do the additional work for free or for a reduced rate (I have been an excellent customer, after all). The next day he matter of factly informed me that I owed him an additional $800. Well, why was I told not to worry about the cost of the additional repair the previous day?

Outstanding, honest, expert mechanics.
I have taken my car in several times for repairs and always found Bimmer to provide outstanding and timely service. Recently, Mike saved me about a grand when I came in for a second opinion on my Vanos system. The first opinion was from a shop that just didn't seem to be shooting straight (and they charged me $150 for the opinion). I called Bimmer, they said the diagnosis didn't sound right and that they'd look at it for free. They ran a test and turns out my Vanos system is fine! I completely trust Mike and Bimmer and recommend them without hesitation.

I got a quote over the phone, the job was done on time, and I paid exactly what I was quoted for and that's the way it should be done.
If you're lucky, you'll get to talk to Mike (he's SUPER busy) because he goes over the details about what was done but I'm not sure about other mechanics. Mike does have other employees there because he could not possibly work on every single car that comes in.
It's true though..Mike is honest, he does care about all the Bimmers and I'm really thankful that I found this place through the Yelpers here!

It's been over a year since I've owned my last BMW (E36 M3), but I feel compelled to comment on my experience with Palo Alto Bimmer.
Not that they seem to need any more positive reviews, but here you go anyway:
1) Honest
2) Extremely knowledgeable
3) Honest
4) Reasonably priced given the superb level of expertise
5) Honest
I've built up a relationship with Milenko (Mike) over the years (since around 2003), with many visits- no fault of PAB's, but rather- all due to a high maintenance E36- as many of these Bimmers are. Working and living near Palo Alto made the decision to go to PAB very easy. But, what I wanted to share was that on three occasions since I've moved close to Vallejo, I still found a way to bring my car all the way over to him- that's easily over 104 miles roundtrip!
When you have someone like Milenko- a real stand up guy who runs such a quality shop- it's hard to pass up the integrity and expertise of PAB for the hit-or-miss experiences at your local BMW stealerships.
For those of us who own Bimmers outside of warranty, it's a different world. With Palo Alto Bimmer around, you never have to live in fear as long as you choose to own your BMW.
PAB will be very hard to replace...

I live in SF, but would take my car for servicing at Palo Alto Bimmer again if I need to (they're conveniently located 4 blocks from the Caltrain station). My husband was in Palo Alto with my car for a conference, when he called to tell me the car was making noise. Based on these Yelp reviews (and a co-worker's recommendation after I asked her about places in the South Bay), I told my husband to take the car to Palo Alto Bimmer, which was two miles from where he was. I spoke with Mike about what I thought was the issue. He said no problem and to have my husband bring the car in--if they had the part, they would be able to fix it within the hour. After my husband took the car in, they realized it was a much bigger issue. They offered to put on a spare tire so we could take it somewhere else if we wanted, but we decided to leave it with them. They were able to fix the car by the end of the next day, and I'm sure what they charged was significantly less than other places would charge (especially places in SF). I would take my car back here.

I brought my '95 m3 here a while back before I was really familiar with the car, or common m3 problems in general for that matter. I was experiencing a knocking sound coming from the very front of the engine. I thought it might be caused by the timing chain/tensioner, and Mike confirmed my suspicion, offering me a quote well over 2k. I clearly recall him stating that the fix still might not fix the problem and that there was no kind of guarantee.
I consulted some online message boards where the members were shocked that a BMW mechanic would not instantly suspect there was an issue with the "vanos" unit, as it is prone to failure around 90k miles. The vanos repair is also expensive, but much cheaper than the timing chain/tensioners job Mike suggested.
I feel like he was taking advantage of the fact that I was expecting a more expensive service. After all, how is it that ~25 enthusiasts correctly diagnosed my problem with nothing more than a written description of the sounds, but a seasoned professional missed the seemingly-obvious problem with the car present?
I ended up doing the job myself, and sure enough the forum-members were right -- it WAS the vanos.
verdict: either awful at diagnosing common problems, or dishonest mechanic with intention of racking up huge repair bill.

I can only speak to my experience, but my 1988 M5 wouldn't start one morning in PA (I live in SF), so I had it towed to this place, which I just picked off the net because it was nearby. I pestered them over the next two days about what the problem might be, and they couldn't find any -- kept telling me that the car started every time they tried it. They did tighten up a loose connection to the battery (fixing another problem which I didn't even complain to them about), and when I came to pick it up, they told me they would charge me NOTHING. Nothing to respond to my calls; nothing to check it out, nothing to drive it around, nothing to store it. Nothing. I think that says a lot about an independent mechanic. Thanks, Mike!

They're honest, they do great work and their prices are reasonable. That's all you really need to know. But if you must know more, Palo Alto Bimmers (PAB) is also conveniently located on Alma St in Palo Alto (close to Peet's and Whole Foods) right by the Caltrain station. **Edit: They also repair Mini Coopers.**
Your BMW is not going to be cheap to maintain no matter where you take it. Over the lifetime of your car, using a trusted independent repair shop like PAB will save you lots of money over taking it to the dealer for repairs. One thing I especially appreciate about PAB is that they will let you know which repairs or maintenance can wait until your next visit. Why do they do that? Because with their superior service, reasonable prices and top-notch BMW repair skills, they know you'll be back. Want to be a satisfied customer? Trust Palo Alto Bimmers. And now you can also trust them for your Mini Cooper repairs and maintenance.
Heard on the grapevine: Rumor has it some local BMW dealerships occasionally send their toughest head-scratchers to Palo Alto Bimmer for diagnosis. Think of PAB as the TV character "House" for your BMW -- minus the cane and the bad attitude.
**Edit: It's been five years since I wrote my review and I have continued to take my BMWs to Palo Alto Bimmers. I'm actually on my *second* BMW now and I cannot recommend Palo Alto Bimmers highly enough. Honestly, when I get around other BMW or Mini owners I can't stop singing the praises of Palo Alto Bimmers.**

I opened a YELP account because I wanted to write a review on these guys. I came into the shop without an appointment today. I told them that I needed my car inspected because I had just purchased it a week ago and there seemed to be a few things wrong with it. I don't know much about BMW's so I wanted to go to a place that did. They Immediately took me in and looked at the car. They gave me a list of things that was wrong with the car and told me to take it to the dealership to get them fixed. There were a few safety concerns that they addressed and I am so thankful that they looked at the car. They also told me that I could bring the car back to double check the work that was performed at the dealership! I was very impressed with their service and so were the other customers around. They really care about their customers. I will definitely come back...and yes they really are as good as everyone says they are.

I have relied on Palo Alto Bimmer for more than 25 years to take care of my BMWs after the factory warranties expired. I trust Mike, Kosro, Eddie, etc. more than any dealership or auto repair shop I have ever patronized. Last month, they literally saved me thousands of dollars by insisting that my catalytic converter was faulty even though a BMW dealership disagreed. With Mike's help I found another BMW dealership who confirmed the fault and replaced the catalytic converter at no cost to me prior to the expiration of the seven-year exhaust system warranty. If I had waited the repairs could have cost me thousands. I opened up a Yelp account just so I could share my delight with Palo Alto Bimmer with others!

The owner, Milenko, goes by the English name Mike. But I'm going to call him "Mike the Magician." I wish I had met him years ago.
BEFORE meeting Mike the Magician, I used ANOTHER independent BMW shop in Sunnyvale for years. They always charged at least $200 just for diagnosis, plus the repair itself. Just as expensive as the dealer. But they could usually find and solve the problem (unlike BMW of Mountain View, which I found to be incompetent).
Recently, my 7-series started having a starting and stalling problem, and my regular shop couldn't even diagnose it. So I went on Yelp, saw Palo Alto Bimmer's good reviews, and called them.
Over the phone, Mike the Magician asked me some very detailed questions, made an initial diagnosis (bad fuel pump), and when I brought in the car, confirmed it with a series of pressure tests. When I got the bill, it was noticeably less that what my old mechanic (or the dealer) would have charged.
And there was NO diagnosis fee. And Mike said if his repair didn't work because he misdiagnosed the problem, he would make it right it on his dime.
I've never seen automobile wizardry or honesty like Mike the Magician.
If you are a perfectionist, or want a perfectionist to fix you car, go see him. You will have difficulty finding a space on his lot, and he can be a little abrupt on the phone, because he's so busy, but don't let that put you off.
He knows BMWs inside out, is honest, and provides excellent value.

I took my BMW to palo alto bimmer for a wheel alignment. Though they were charging 170$ for this, I was impressed by their online reviews and decided to give it a try. The service was not very great as I expected. I had a wobbly steering and wanted to explain the whole thing and get it checked completely but they were not ready to listen.
Later that evening, when I went to pick the car, it was ready and the guy just handed me over a few printouts with the alignment numbers and never cared to explain if there was any other problem. I clearly wanted him to check if there was any other problem.
I drove the car out and saw that the problem was never resolved. I guess they did not even take a test ride and see if they got rid of the problem. I was very disappointed both with the quality of work and the service.

Like many of the other Yelper's mention, their ability to diagnose problems and provide information on what will need attention in the near future is beyond what you'll see at most shops. I'm really never surprised at the cost or problem as they tell me what's wrong and if it need immediate attention otherwise.... I've owned 3 bmw's and have taken them all to this shop. I live ~15 miles away and yes there are several closer BMW shops, but this by far is the best.

alas I don't care to give 1star reviews......
they did a good job on my car- the oil job, gasket, coolant and what not
however
they had Brunhilda for over a week and still didn't resolve the main issue with the check engine light. I had told them that it was important for smog and they had told me to basically wing it with the smog station. then come back if I didn't pass. if I had to come back they said they would check the alternative method of looking at the odb-II via the instrument cluster.
*I'm thinking that they had it for a week...couldn't they have done it in that time period.
long story short..
i didn't pass
I paid a lot for better service than that......
I'm still in the process of getting my smog issue resolved else where.
perhaps it's because the owner was on vacation.....

My car's name is Buster and he's a 7series born in the 90s.
He's been mine forever (our family car since high school) and has been to over a dozen service stations since I adopted him. He likes Palo Alto Beemer or is it Bemmer or Bimmer...?! I don't know spellings, but I do know they do great work.
Fixing BMWs is competitive out here in CA. Buster's first port in America was Naperville IL (near Chicago). Thanks Bill Jacobs. Dealerships are good for warranty work but when its my nickel, I say go to "Mike" the service writer.
I've never objected to their opinion about what is defective and I have never been overcharged. I get the feeling that they value their customers long term. Other shops I've been to, (Buster's old caretakers) pretty much had a "minimum" that I'd get charged.
"when the engine light goes off, it pretty much means about a grand," said Larry Chiang.
Well at P.A. Beemer, it might be a whole lot less.
** Update **
thx yelpers and Google.
I now have to wait a week on the waitlist.
Its time to raise the hourly labor rate fellas!
jk, just raise prices for eveyone else

Desperate for some emergency auto repair....PA Bimmer took me in. They were efficient and responded to my three hour time limit. They got all the parts from the Mini dealership and labor charge was better than what I expected.
Even my tow driver recommended this place over the actual mini dealership. I would too.

All along I was going to the dealership for service. One of my friends recommended me to Pal Alto Bimmer. I hesitantly went there and was surprised at the quality of work, speed of diagnosis, and the cost (way below the dealership).
Though the dealership recommended several things, the owner (Mike) of the shop said they were not needed and only did the service that is really needed. I feel my car is a very good hands and it has been in good shape.
Excellent and courteous people. Delivered always on or before the time promised. Very reasonable prices and way cheaper than the dealership. Never had problems with them or the work they did.

Palo Alto Bimmer is awesome! After getting frustrated with my previous mechanic with constant 'new' problems and expensive repair charges, I decided to take my 2001 330i to Palo Alto Bimmer after being recommended there by a friend. It has been over a year now since I first brought my car in and it is still running great! No 'new' problems and no expensive bills to pay. I am so glad my friend referred me here and I highly recommend Palo Alto Bimmer to anyone who wants professional honest service!

I've been taking my BMW's to Palo Alto Bimmer for 14 years. The quality of service is the best I've ever experienced for auto repair. The service technicians all seem to be extremely well trained, professional and courteous. The work has always been completed on time. But what I like most about the service is the fact that I can trust that the work will be done right the first time.

Mike is the best in his business and I can tell you in all honesty nobody can even come close to Palo Alto Bimmer. Mike is a person of highest integrity, honesty, friendly and the work is done to exacting specifications. His prices are very reasonable and well below dealers prices. When replacement parts are needed (new or used), Mike will get you the best price and never charge you more.
If there is a Nobel Prize in BMW in Auto repair, service, honesty and customer satisfaction, Mike will win the Prize every year. Period!!!

I have been taking my BMW to Palo Alto Bimmer since I moved to Palo Alto 4 years ago. They are much better than any of the nearby BMW dealerships (more courteous, and knowledgible). They are not trying to make a quota or goal for the month ... they tell you exactly what needs to fixed and are very trustworthy. I've been to BMW dealerships all over the bay area and nothing compares to the service at Palo Alto Bimmer. They may not have plasma TVs in the lounge and coffee waiting for you, but they know how to take care of your car.
Mike is especially nice. He has stayed after hours to take a look at my car and is always willing to help.
They are located within walking distance to down town Palo Alto too.

Mike has serviced and repaired both my 528i and 528i wagon for the past 8 years, ever since they came off of factory warranty.
One time, my wife's hair pins got wrapped into the seat mechanism, requiring a 5 hour ordeal to get the seat mechanism fixed. Mike didn't charge me extra for this, because I'd made the appointment on a different issue.
I let him change my tires, execute oil services and inspections, repair air bag mechanisms, wagon tail gate latches, batteries, ABS systems.
I trust he'll always treat me fairly. These days, I can drop by and he'll replace a bulb or headlight quickly and without paperwork and is always happy to extract a diagnostic code and tell me what's up with the car. I have no plan to replace either vehicle because I have confidence in their service and repair

I had some major engine repairs needed on my 740iL that the dealer said would cost more than $5000. They did it for half the price and it didn't take any longer. In fact I got the whole job done with rear brakes and a side mirror repaired for less than $5K. They have a whole lot of beamers in their shop and the mechanics know what they are doing. I was worried about my older car but not any longer since I found this shop.

I've been a loyal customer at Palo Alto Bimmer for 9+ years and have never come across a better mechanic. Mike is the nicest and most honest guy you will ever come across when it comes to repairs for your BMW. He is also very knowledgeable and I just feel at ease when I deal with him. Overall service is perfunctory. I brought my wife's car in for a brake fluid flush and change. I asked them to check the thickness of the pads and rotors. They said they were okay. A couple weeks later went to Yosemite. I had an unrelated radiator leak so I brought my wife's car back. Basically, in the span of 500 miles I was told my brakes needed work. I asked them to pull the wheel and let met see the pads and rotors. Apparently the caliper hadn't been floating properly for several thousand miles which is something they should have spotted when they flushed the brakes. One side of the pad was completely worn. The obvious conclusion is that they never looked at the pads. My advice is not to bring your car here if Mike isn't around. So when he goes on his annual vacation to the Old Country don't bring your car here. Price should not be an overriding concern when servicing your car. Quality should be.

Took my car in for an oil service and general maintenance. I had called ahead to make an appointment and they were ready for me and got the work done within the time limit they promised. They struck me as competent and to-the-point, and I appreciated their heads up that my brake replacement light will come on in a few thousand miles.
I was particularly impressed with the price. The same service from BMW of Mountain View would be literally twice as expensive.

I have always liked going to dealerships since their work is systematic and they don't cut corners, and hence looking for an alternative for me was not only about prices. Looking for several service shops, I chose this one for their great workmanship and most reasonable prices.
I got the control arm bushes replaced and a leaking steering return hose for $600 (BMW Dealer price was ~ $1100). I drive to these guys for any top offs such as coolant, brake fluid etc. and they never charge me a dime! They are nice people!
I strongly recommend this place for BMWs. I wish I could take my Audi to these folks as well.

I have had two BMWs that Mike has taken care of over ten years. Mike was always more than fair in his prices and advice. Often times it was, "this is what needs to be fixed now, this is what needs to be fixed next." so I could budget my car repair expenses. Finally my 1992 5 series had close to 300,000 miles on it and blew a head gasket. It was time to let it go. I bought a new BMW that is under factory maintenance and when the warranty has expired, I'll be taking it back to Mike.
I will go when he isn't on vacation because although the rest of his team seem really wonderful too, Mike is just too perfect in his knowledge. I remember calling him from my car one evening at 6:30PM, when the shop should have been close, and he calmly told me to drive the car right to him that he would wait. Turned out he knew from my description that I had a major problem that would hold until I got there. It was pretty hard to believe that just by me mimicing a small intermittent noise over the phone that he could diagnose a major problem.

Fair and honest repairs. I had an issue with my radio. The antenna is in the rear window. Allison BMW of MV told me it would be $1600 to replace the rear window. Bimmer said I just needed some little wire. Total cost parts + labor = $60. I *hate* Allison. This is the 3rd time they've tried to rip me off. Never again. Bimmer is my new home for my BMW.

Not many mechanics I trust. But I trust Mike (Milenko), the owner. I had an old beat-up BMW 318 that wasn't working right. Took it to Mike. He basically took the engine apart, figure out that it's the gasket leaking, and told me his recommendation is not to fix it, because the repair cost more than the car. He then put the car back together the way it was, and didn't charge me a dime for the estimate. That was 10 years ago.
I junked that car, and now he services my 323i exclusively, even when I lived down in San Jose, and had to drive 20 minutes to get to him for an oil change. He's honest and charges a fair price for the work. He also has amazing knowledge of BMWs.
Problem is he's not always there (takes several months off sometime). And when he's not, I get fair service, not great service. So not quite the 5 stars. I still take my car there when he's not there, but I breathe easier when he is.

I took my M3 for an "in between inspection" oil change based on all the positive reviews. The guy who wrote up the service order "forgot" that it needs 10-60, so his quote was $20 below the actual cost. I was then contacted by the owner (?) who explained the situation, but their price was still about half of what the BMW stealers were charging. The people there were friendly and the work was done on time as promised. I will go back for inspection (or repairs, heaven forbid) and will update my review/rating next time.

I have brought my various BMWs (93 3i8is and '91 M5) to Palo Alto Bimmer for more than a decade for repairs and service. I also have a late model BMW M that was still under warranty and have been taking it to the local BMW dealer up until recently. In comparison, MIke/MIlenko and his crew beat the dealer service dept. hands down. PA Bimmer have always been honest, fair and dependable to me. And given that dealers don't service older BMWs anymore, I am somewhat "stuck" with independent shops like PA Bimmer but they always treated me with respect - they earn my business. Numerous times, I have left my car(s) overnight at PA Bimmer (including once when I dropped it off on a Sunday when they were closed) and I have never had an issue - that's how much I trust Milenko. Especially with the M cars, maintenance and repairs are higher than a non-M car - and in decade plus experience with them , PA Bimmer has always done the work as promised - and nothing more. I have recently started working on my '91 M5 (which had been idle for 3 years) and as a baseline, have gone back to my old repair bills to verify the work that that MIlenko and co. has done. In every single case, the work was done - you can tell that the parts are newer/cleaner than the rest of the car. I have also recommended PA Bimmer to my "BMW friends" that either work or live in Palo Alto, and in every single case, only positive things about their experience with PA Bimmer. I know where I'll be bringing my cars for years to come.

Palo Alto Bimmer has a new product to clean fogged up headlights. One of the headlights on my X5 has become foggy on the inside and rather than having to get a whole new light for $1200, they used a new product for only $100 that cleaned it perfectly!

Really honest mechanics and they are super fast. Long gone are the days where I leave my car at the dealer, wait for 5 days and pay an arm and leg for labor.
I've brought in my car for some trivial issues and Mike will tell me to wait until my xxxx mile check up and he'll cover all bases then. That's nice of him to watch out for my wallet.. but on top of that he'll pop open the hood and top off the fluids for free. I've always had the luck to work with Mike every time I come in, but the other guys are nice too. My parents bring their car here as well.

The service here is awesome!!! For a busy professional like me (and everyone else in Silicon Valley), the last thing you want to deal with is an unexpected malfunction of your car slowing down your progress. As soon as I began experiencing a strange idling of my car, I called early in the morning just before 7:30 AM and was told I could drop my car off immediately. This was so much better than the online scheduling service offered by the dealership (BMW Mountain View) which had projected the earliest appointment would be in 1 week. I dropped the car off, walked a short distance to catch the Stanford Marguerite and made it to my office on time. By 1:30 PM, my car was completely repaired for much less than I expected. As someone who doesn't know a lot about cars, I usually expect to get ripped off a little...not here. I found PA Bimmer to be honest, trustworthy, friendly, and punctual. I was previously committed to factory dealership repairs only, now I've found my new shop. Thank you so much, Palo Alto Bimmer.

This is an amazing BMW auto mechanic. They're honest and they're great at checking your car for other (real) issues that you might not even have thought about. In my last checkup they changed my windshield wipers (still had the very original ones!), fixed my air sensor, etc. and only charged me for parts and not labor. I've been here 3 times, including once when my car totally broke down, and I've always felt like they've handled my car with the highest integrity. I'm not such a big fan of BMWs, but with a mechanic like that down the street...it makes me think more positive thoughts about my BMW.

Love these guys. REALLY know BMWs. Have been going to them for many years. They are straight-up and fair on the pricing. They also stand behind their work.
I owned a 323i and they did everything from brake replacements to replacing radiator and fan when fan broke off spindle. Mike one of the main guys there has also given me the name of a dent guy when I needed to pop out a minor dent in the hood.
Also, if you are looking to buy/sell your BMW they'll do a quick check on the car to make sure there are no hidden problems. I just sold my car and they did the checkup for the buyer.
Great guys. Use them.

If you put down $$ for a BMW you are well aware that you're not doing so for the cost savings. Still...after my 50k mile warranty ran out on my 2001 325i, I took it to Mountain View BMW (at the time: Allison BMW) for a routine inspection - during which they of course found things to fix. I rolled out about $1200 poorer for really very little work done and told myself I was never again taking my car to a dealership for service. But where to go? A friend said his father had been taking his bimmer to Mike (Milenko) for years and years and highly recommended them. I immediately liked them when I called to talk to Mike and he told me with a smile I could hear over the phone, that he had been informed to "take good care of me - or else"! Ha!
Well take good care of me he did! I have taken my car back to them at least 3-4 times over the last few years and am always pleased and relieved when I pick up my car and look at the bill. Granted they are not "cheap" or "a bargain" - please see the first sentence of my review. However, everyone has been kind and helpful and as a woman I don't feel taken advantage of when I walk in there. No one talks down to me. They seem to know what they are doing and I'm always very satisfied with the work. My brother is a "major car guy" and always nods to himself if he reviews what they've done. There is never any pressure either. On my last visit, I was called about an hour after they got my car with a list of what they recommended doing right away and what could wait to be done. After calling my bro to review he recommended doing 3 of the 5 things they suggested. When I let Kosro at PA Bimmer know - I got an immediate "of course, no problem" with not a single "well you really should think about..."
The only marginal complaint I can muster up is that I now have to schedule an appointment for a few days out. (most recent inspection: called on a Tuesday they took it on Friday) It seems like 3 years ago I could pretty much stop in the next day. But this isn't a big problem. They have an overnight key drop-off and will let you pay over the phone and pick up your car with your spare key if their hours don't work for you.
It's a very small place - looks like once upon a time it was an old gas station? Plus it's walking distance from downtown Palo Alto so if you need something done that will only take a couple hours you can stroll through downtown while you wait. They'll also drive you to work or home if it's within Palo Alto or relatively closeby.
I will continue to take my 325i to Palo Alto Bimmer until I no longer have it or until I move out of the area. Everyone just makes me feel so comfortable and confident that my bimmer and I are in great hands!

I have taken my car to these guys for over a decade. They do a great job and don' t try to rip you off! They can often squeeze you in within a week on major jobs like an Inspection, or take you the next day for minor stuff. They are way less expensive than going to a snobby BMW dealer that could care less when your car gets fixed or how much it's going to cost. Wow! This place knows BMW's! I brought in a low mileage 540i I was considering purchasing. I had not been here previously but Mike (the owner) squeezed me in without an appointment. With his tremendous knowledge of the marque he quickly told me what to watch for in this particular model and subsequently did a detailed inspection that yielded previously undiscovered but needed repairs. Without Mike's input I would have gone through with the purchase and I'd be driving a money sucking sink hole.

For an "anything related to automobiles" challenged person this place is a dream (luckily it is also a reality!). It is probably the first BMW place I have gone to where I don't feel like they are ripping me off. They will actually repair parts (if that is possible) rather than replacing everything without thought. And with BMWs this is usually very expensive. I have taken my 740 to Allison BMW for years. Although the service advisors are generally really helpful and they do a good job of diagnosing and fixing problems, their labor rates are outrageous. After hearing some good things about Palo Alto Bimmer, I decided to let them do some work to my 1970 E9 Coupe. They did a really great job and when the 740 sprung an oil leak, I decided that I would take it to them to fix. Milenko diagnosed the problem within a few minutes and said that since he had to take the top half of the engine off, that it was a good idea to do some preventive maintenance on some other parts. They replaced a ton of stuff and upgraded some of the cooling parts to the new and improved design. When I got the bill, it was about half what I was expecting, especially after having gone to Allison for years. When I took it home, it still was leaking a bit. I took it back and they spent another day making sure that everything looked right. All for no additional charge. If your BMW is out of warranty, there is not a better place in the area than Palo Alto Bimmer. They are truly friendly and honest people that seem to want to build a lasting relationship with their customers rather than squeeze them for a few quick bucks.

I have been taking my BMW to P...
I have been taking my BMW to Palo Alto bimmer for the last ten years (basically ever since the factory 4 yr warranty expired). Mike and his team are great. Even though they are crazy busy (just look at the number of cars on their lot any given day) they are always good about assessing the problem and helping me find the BEST solution (not just the easiest or most profitable for them). They understand that owning an older BMW isn't cheap and burdensome so they try to make it as painless as possible with their expertise to solving the problems and charging a very very reasonable rate. They have been in the business of focusing on BMW for 20 years+ I think. They have probably seen every problem under the sun. It's like looking for a doctor. You want someone who has the experience to have done a procedure a million times and still doing it perfectly for you. I see Palo Alto Bimmer as my car doctor. And if it wasn't for them, I would have gotten rid of my car a long long time ago.

Very professional
These guys are fabulous with older BMW's. It doesn't take long to determine if a shop is going to rip you off or truly fix the problem and make you a happy customer. Palo Alto Bimmer wants to keep you as a satified customer for life and they have with me.

Great service. Not only did they fix my problem but they did a lot of complimentary maintenance as well. This is a go to place for BMW owners.

My Mom referred me to this place as she was extremely satisfied with their service and she was right. For the first time I took my car and they took care of everything the car needed. Mike was extremely cordial, helpful, honest and not pushy at all. I'm extremely satisfied with this place and I highly recommend it. Thank you

He even tells you some of the stuff that's nice "don't worry about it for now." Here he is - a mechanic actually telling you to NOT spend your money.

This is a very dishonest shop. They always trying to convince/scare you to do unneeded repair and sell you expensive parts(way above market price). My BMW 325ci had check engine ,brake and traction control lights on. I took my car in for repair. After waiting for 6 hours they told me i have to replace brake rotors, brake pad, sensors and fuel valve. Total cost is $960 that include a $260 diagnostic fee. I agreed to this amount. In addition, he offered to do oil change for $140.(I said no) Guess what, 2 hours later the mechanic told me that I need to replace my entire ABS control system. Parts is $1300 and labor fee would be $600. I asked why didn't he tell me about this 2 hours ago. He said I didn't ask to check the ABS system. The $260 diagnostic fee is solely for the check engine light. shocked, I refused this additional service and charge. After paying $960, my brake ad traction lights are still on and they don't even tell me what the problem is.

Watch out for the words, "I'll call you back in ... ". Whether Mike says 20 minutes, or two days, or a week - it does not happen. He seems like a nice fellow, but I have been repeatedly disappointed by the lack of follow-up and the broken promises as I try to get to the bottom of what is wrong with my car. I have been told not to drive the car too far, and that was over a month ago with repeated calls on my part to see if he has come through with getting parts that he said would be ordered. Good luck to the rest of you.
