We have been using the services of Maxed Performance for over 20 years and could not be more pleased. The original owner, Max, was always honest and efficient with service and charges. Now retired, Max's son-in-laws, Ed and Kenny, continue to be excellent mechanics and provide courteous and CLEAN work on all makes of cars. Initially had our 7 series BMW serviced at a fraction of the price charged at the dealership. When we sold that car and purchased a Jaguar, we just continued at Maxed because we knew we would continue to receive honest and reliable auto service regardless of the car make. Ed always explains all service required and gives accurate estimates of same. It is a pleasure knowing your car is being serviced by people who care.

My only go to mechanic/shop. Ed the owner is honest and knowledgeable with VW and Especially Vanagons , we have 5 vehicles and take all of them to Maxed Performance... Ed has been my mechanic since 2010. I found out about this place many years ago on the VWVortex forums. The goal was to find a shop that catered to BOTH car enthusiasts and daily drivers, rather than one or the other. Frankly, I have a very low student budget when it comes to car expenses, but I still believe it's better to consistently go to a garage you trust, rather than shopping around for the lowest quote. Pricing has always been fair for what you are getting. The work is detailed and upcoming issues are always noted (if not just ask!). These guys know their stuff but are still quite down to earth for non-enthusiast.
PS. A little trivia tidbit, this is a family owned business. So how did they get their name, Maxed Performance? Well, the father's name is Max and the son in law's name is Ed. Ha!!

I have gone to Maxed Performance since 2008. They have performed all my auto maintenance and repairs on my 2003 VW Passat. They are professional, though, and honest. While getting my oil changed three years ago at an 'oil and lube' place I was told there were cracks in my serpentine belt. I quickly took it to Maxed Performance and waited for them to check the belts. They took the time to show me there were no cracks. Whew !! Did I saw honest - YES !! Thanks guys for being top notch mechanics !!! U R the BEST !!

Honest, dependable & affordable! I have been going to Maxed Performance since my friend referred me about 6 years ago and I will never go anywhere else for auto service! First I took my BMW there and now I take my Ford Flex.
As a single mom it is so important to me that I know I'm taking my car to someone I can trust. Ed and his crew always gets the work done fast as promised! Ed can usually diagnose any issues on the spot and his prices are excellent!
On top of everything else Ed and everyone at Maxed Performance are super pleasant.
I hate dealing with car issues but least with Maxed I don't dread it!

My elderly father brought his 1999 Civic DX here to have new rear trailing arm bushings installed. These scumbag mechanics charged three times the industry price for this type of job for pressing out two old bushings and installing the new ones he brought with a Honda Acura Trailing Arm Bushing Remover Installer. Charge for thirty minutes labor $475.00. This trash should change his name to Maxed Ripoff. You are S$$T!

This is the first time I've owned a new Audi, so I'm very cautious with who I allow to work on my vehicle (or wash it for that matter!). I received a referral from a friend to try Maxed Performance so I thought I would give it a shot instead of going back to the dealership. Anyway, the service, speed, and price of their work exceptional and I am highly satisfied with the final product. They even drove me back to my house and picked me up. At this point I wouldn't even consider taking my car anywhere else. Give them a shot!

After I completed my time under warranty for my BMW, I took it to Ed at Maxed after a recommendation by a friend. Now, 15 years later and 245,000 miles, Maxed has kept my BMW running in great shape. No upsell, reasonable prices, and they only recommend what needs to be done at that point in time. Anytime you come in they do a thorough inspection so if they also find items that will need future work, you can put away some money for when it finally needs to be taken care of. We even had a friend go to them and they found a very hard to diagnose item that if left untreated, could easily have ruined the engine and cost thousands. Instead of waiting until that happened and getting a big payday they recommended they trade in the vehicle immediately before there was a major issue and get another car. Maxed is a family run business that treats their customers like you expect to be treated but, sadly, doesn't happen much anymore. Wouldn't take our cars anywhere else!

If your looking for an honest business, that is competitive on pricing and provides great quality work, bring your car to Maxed Performance!
I took my Audi A4 here back in 2006 on a recommendation from someone who's been taking their cars to Maxed since they opened in 1989. My Audi needed A/C repairs and other repairs and Ed's quote was below quoted costs from the dealer and other shops. More recently I've taken my Mazda CX-9 for it's 60k tune up. The dealer told me I needed my breaks done, possibly shocks and the tune up, the cost was over $1,200 with the dealer. We called Ed and took the car in the next day. Turns out my breaks are fine, I don't need shocks and the 60k tune up was around $89! I was so relieved that my breaks were ok and the car didn't need the other work. We live in Mission Viejo, so Huntington Beach isn't in our back yard but it's worth the drive for great service. I completely trust these guys; their work was great, and even below the cost that they quoted me. We will be back!!

I recently purchased a Volkswagen Westphalia camp and was looking for a mechanic who was familiar with these vehicles. I read the reviews of several local mechanics and was impressed with what other customers had to say about Maxed Performance. In particular, one review mentioned they brought in a vintage Volkswagen van. When I pulled in I saw two other VW vans being serviced. I was greeted by Ed and he put me at ease by answering all my multiple questions. I had him change the oil the first visit and now I'm back to have the brakes done. If you were looking for a good mechanic in the area I would highly recommend Maxed Performance.

I have a old VW vanagon and it's very difficult to find a mechanic that will know his way around these vans. I did my research and found 3 local mechanics that I would deem worthy enough to work on my van. The only mechanic with straight up honesty and very good on the price, is Ed from maxed. After a friend and I put a new engine in, I needed it to be done right and ed made sure it was done right. He was supremely helpful on every visit and made sure the job was done correctly. Ed took the time to explain to me everything that was going on and really made it a enjoy-full experience for me. If your van is your life, Ed is the person to see. Maxed has an awesome crew that love your van and you, just give him a call and get your van on the road again. Thank you ed! I would recommend him to anyone that needs help with your VW or any performance car for that matter. They are the best!

I have been meaning to write a review of this place for awhile now. My family and I have been coming to Maxed Performance for many years. Being a local to Huntington Beach, you can't find a better guy than Eddie to help you with your car issues. Being a single lady, Eddie has proven to be consistently honest and trustworthy. With peace of mind, I can always rely on him to tell me the truth about what my car needs. His prices are really good too. My dad is extremely picky with regard to automotive servicing as he is very knowledgeable about how much a certain service should cost and how long it should take to complete the service. Eddie and his team have never disappointed us. You won't regret coming here. Plus, Eddie's a great guy - friendly, considerate and very knowledgeable.

As you all know, most auto repair joints are stereotypically dishonest or at best inconsistent. It is tough to find someplace you can trust wholeheartedly with your gas guzzling friend. This is why I can't say enough good things about Maxed Performance. I have been a loyal customer for nearly 20 years and have taken my Jetta, Audi and now Subaru to them with the utmost confidence. The are fair, knowledgable, down to earth and just plain awesome people. They work on most makes/models and the turn around is usually quite fast. In the 20 years of servicing my vehicles, I have NEVER had an issue with something going wrong do to their work and am regularly pleased with how fair their pricing is. I recently purchased a 1987 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper that needed a tune-up, fix a leaking fuel hose, and I wanted to have a detailed mechanical review.
I heard of Ed at Maxed Performance from a Vanagon enthusiast website and gave him a call to see about setting something up. He immediately noted a couple of common issues relating to the leaking fuel hose and let me bring in the van the next day. After one day in the shop, as requested, Ed came back with a few items that he noted would need taking care of in the near future. We discussed prices and some other concerns I had with the van. What I appreciated in our conversations is that Ed would not try to sell me on everything and was quick to tell me if something I was wanting done (heater hose for example) was not necessary.
I ended up having Ed do a mini tune-up and replace various hoses. The work was performed under budget and on time.
It's nice to have found a local mechanic I can trust, that is friendly and knowledgeable. I will not only bring my van back in, but my other two VW's when needed.

My family and I have been going to Ed for 10 years, it is time that I finally write a yelp review. Maxed Performance has been great to our family, they always seem to make time for us when I call them, and once we get there they treat us with respect and don't jerk us around.
They have never tried to screw us over money wise, and the service is usually pretty quick. They do pretty much everything for your car or truck (including engine work, tires, tune ups, oil changes, etc.) and do it well. They aren't gonna do things incredibly cheap, but they will do the job right and won't overcharge you.
I highly recommend Maxed Performance and hope that you get service as good as the service I've had.

Just needed a headlamp replaced on my Beetle. I called around - dealer - $64, Big O - less than $100, Ed at Maxed - $45. So, I gave Maxed a try. I dropped in with no appointment. It was fixed in about 15-20 minutes. The charge - $40. I'm happy. Ed even explained that a part that secures the assembly in place was broken and probably should be replaced next time, but it was fine for now. Another man waiting for a repair told me he has been bringing his car there for 25 years and wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Such a pleasure to find a place like Maxed. I'll be back when the need arises. God bless good old honest people.
