I don't regularly review businesses on Yelp. Today I have decided to take some time to share my experience related to the excellent service that I've received. I have had a check engine light show up on my Audi A6 that none of the mechanics could get rid of, including the folks at Audi service. After looking at the reviews on Yelp for Mechanic OC, I wanted take one last chance before putting the car up for sale. The issue was with the intake manifold that kept causing the check engine light to show up even after the actual issue was fixed. Nester reached out to the technical folks at Audi and found out that after fixing the actual mechanical issue, the control module needed to be reflashed with firmware. I went to 4 places before; none of them could figure this out.
I would not hesitate to recommend this business to anyone looking for automotive service. Nester is meticulous and will make sure that all the issues are taken care of, irrespective of however complex they are.

Dropped in to the Mechanic OC on a holiday weekend without an appointment and Nestor and Diana took care of our car right away. They identified the problem and resolved my A/C quickly just in time for the hot holiday weekend. Nestor was informative and friendly and told me what needed to be looked at and fixed and what could wait to be fixed. He and Diana were really attentive and provided great service at a really reasonable price.

Had a great experience at this shop! Glad to have found a reliable mechanic close to home. Friendly service and fair pricing. No pushy hard sell.
Nestor was really helpful when my car wouldn't start recently. He even gave me tips on things to try with the battery before having it towed over. Plus he was even able to receive my car from the tow after 5PM.

I drive 60+miles to get my car taken care of. Highly recommend The Mechanic OC, great crew. From the receptionist to the mechanics. They took care of my Tonka truck RIP and now they are taking care of my Ford Fusion.
Kid friendly! What kid likes to run errands and a trip to the mechanic? My kids love going there. They have toys and Netflix to keep them entertained. They actually ask "when are we going again?" Lol
The receptionist is super friendly and interactive. We had a long conversation while my car was being serviced. Felt like I've known her for years. I actually hoped they had taken longer changing the belts on my car.
The shop is super clean and organized, not your typical dirty and greasy shop.
Nestor the mechanic is extremely detailed, he explained what needed to be done and the cost was very reasonable.

I always take my Jetta to the dealership to avoid the hassle of finding a reliable and trustworthy mechanic, but after finding the mechanic oc, I have taken my car to them twice. Nestor is very reliable and honest when it comes to your car needs, he is very blunt and does not beat around the bush. He explains all my car needs in actual language I can understand and answers any questions I have.
The waiting area is very clean and stocked with drinks
It definitely makes the waiting pleasant.
Overall I am very happy with the mechanic oc and it's taken many years to find a mechanic I trust, I know I will be taking my car here for all my repairs and maintenance.

Who gets excited to go the mechanic? I do...now. Mechanic OC was probably the best experience I've had at a repair shop. I was struggling to find a new mechanic after my last shop changed ownership and I am so glad I found Nestor and team.
I called for an estimate on Monday expecting the usual "well, we have to look and see and that'll cost you $100+ for a diagnosis" crap. But Ana, the sweet receptionist, took 5 minutes and gave me the EXACT price for the part and labor (which was under $100 by the way). I thought, Gee that was easy..
I dropped my truck off Thursday at lunch and it was ready THREE hours later.. If only everything else (like work and house cleaning) moved as quickly as Nestor and team do. I asked Nestor to check something else out that had been bothering me (window regulator on the Colorado, common problem, super annoying) and he quoted me such a fair price on that too, I told him to go ahead. Picked up my truck the next day--good as new!
They did quite a bit of work to my baby and the bill was still under $500--50% of which was JUST parts.
Don't bother going anywhere else in Orange County, come straight here! There's a reason they have so many 5 star reviews. Way to go guys, you're awesome!

I found this place simply by researching different mechanics and reviews on Yelp. My previous mechanic sold off the business so I needed a replacement.
My car had developed a pretty bad oil leak and took it to a mazda dealer and I thought was fixed but it wasn't. Instead of taking it back to the dealership, I took it to The Mechanic OC.
Nestor (the owner) told me it was probably the worst leak he's seen and judging by the oil puddles I was leaving everywhere at home and work, I agreed. He let me know what was wrong, the cause of the leak, what needed to be fixed, and estimated how much it would cost. I also needed my engine mounts replaced and spark plugs replaced. He gave me an estimate on those as well and also let me know what the engine mounts were used for (I previously had little info on what they were). I told Nestor to fix the leak but hold off on the engine mounts. I actually shopped around to get estimates to replace the engine mounts. Out of 5 estimates, Nestor's estimate came back the lowest. Now, I've taken really good care of my car for the most part and I'm not about trying to find the cheapest price. I was just looking to see how competitive the estimate was. Regardless, engine mount replacement isn't cheap no matter where you go so those will have to be put on hold for now. In any case, the leak has been fixed and he also replaced my spark plugs (which a previous mechanic told me needed replacing).
After working on my car and being satisfied with the pricing and work, I brought in my wife's car that was in need of A LOT of maintenance. Nestor provided me an estimate that was broken down into 3 tiers: A) things that needed immediate attention B) things that could slide for about a month or 2 C) things that would enhance the performance of the car but weren't critical or immediate. Again, I really appreciated the time he spent with me on the phone (about 20 min answering my questions) and also when I dropped by the shop with my wife, he stopped what he was doing and let us see what he was working on with the car (about another 15 minutes). Our budget allowed us to get A & B done with C hopefully being done in the near future. We both noticed a difference in how much better her car was running after the repairs.
All this to say, I'm very happy with the work that has been done on both cars. I have found The Mechanic OC's prices to be fair and Nestor has been upfront, honest and patient. I hope these guys don't go anywhere. I still got work that needs to be done.

This place is awesome; the customer service was outstanding, I even got a spiffy new air freshener. But all joking aside, I was extremely impressed with this shop. My 92' Nissan Stanza was on its deathbed before Nestor worked his magic on her. He was completely honest with the work that needed to be done (which happened to be A LOT) and was quick to deliver a finished product. Now my old car feels brand new and drives like a dream. If you want an honest and rememberable experience Nestor and his team are the people to see, he truly cares for his customers. This is definitely my new mechanic.

A few weeks ago I was on my way to work when my car started to break down and smoke a ton. I called and was able to tow my car to The Mechanic OC and get in the same day! My car was also done the next day by noon! The staff is super friendly and courteous, I felt very well taken care of. What can I say about Nestor and crew. Honest and trustworthy mechanics is what I usually look for and The MechanicOC lives by those values.
I contacted Nestor to perform service on my Prius. Nestor quoted me a deal I could not refuse, he explained everything he'd be doing to my car, the price and the labor, no hidden costs or any extra add ons.
The shop is very clean and organized, wonderful receptionist who confirms appointments and provides follow up regarding upcoming service maintenance scheduling.

Needed a 3rd car and called Nestor to ask whether he does pre-buy inspections. Yes, he said. I found the car, called Nestor for an appointment and he was able to take my prospective car the same day. The inspection took about an hour and is as thorough as you'd want, including (but not just these items): checking spark plugs, fluid levels, tire pressure and tire tread, electrical systems. Nestor sat with me and reviewed the extensive exam he conducted on the car. This car got a clean bill of health (thanks, previous owners for taking such good care of it) from Dr. Nestor. Super happy with my purchase and mostly because my mechanic gave it a thumbs up.

Absolutely loved this place! I always tend to drag out the time in between oil changes because going to mechanic is such a pain and finding a good place is always so hard. However going to The Mechanic OC was such a different experience, this is definitely the go-to place!
First off, the establishment itself was very clean, they had a TV (Forest Gump was playing: my favorite), it smelled good and they even had refreshments available. As soon as I arrived I was warmly greeted and tended to by the receptionist as I filled out paperwork.
Nestor, the mechanic, made it a point to also come out and greet me before inspecting my car. When finished, he was very good with explaining what and why I needed certain services, making sure I understood and answering all my questions. He was very professional, well-groomed, and friendly as well.
I will definitely be bringing my car back here (even though it's out of my way) and recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable shop!

Customer for life! I found my mechanic and his name is Nestor. He's professional, prompt, friendly, fair and explains things so even I can understand. My truck was in need of some repairs, local dealer told me I might as well buy a new truck! I brought it to Nestor because his Yelp reviews were awesome and it was the smartest thing I could have done. Nestor fixed my truck, worked around my schedule and got me back on the road rapido! What can I say.......
I called Nestor at the shop to see if he was able to work on my car. Not to many people wanna touch European cars, that being said Nestor informed me that he and his team were more than happy to work on my car. Now here's the other part of driving a European car the prices can get ridiculous!!! Nestor gave me a quote that could not be beat!! I dropped my car off and picked it up the same day. I recently moved to Mission Viejo and told myself that this was a good time to stop going to dealerships and paying an arm and a leg for car maintenance. I was brought up with the mentality to not trust mechanics and to always go to dealerships to avoid being taken advantage of. I was a single mom for a long time and didn't know any better, but I spent thousands of dollars on my Honda at the dealership. Turns out that the theory of trusting dealerships over other mechanics was completely ridiculous.
I took my Honda in for the first time here and was ready for anything. It turns out that they didn't find anything extra I wasn't already expecting and they took good care of me in the process. I'm sure if I had taken my car into the dealership for the same service, it would have costed me the usual thousand dollars, but here it costed me $600. They were extremely nice and communicative with me about everything before and after service.
This place is a great find. No more dealerships for me! I'm taking my Mazda in there next. Thanks!!

Went to The Mechanic OC a couple of weeks ago to get my car inspected because I was going to be making a very long trip for my graduation from college. I went there and was in and out before I knew it. Nestor let me know what was up with my car and told me what kind of maintenance my car would need in the future in order to keep the car running well. Nestor is very nice and informative with straight answers and no beating around the bush. He tells you exactly what it is your car needs and thats it not like other mechanics that lie and tell you that there are other problems with your car. He even called to check up on me to see if I made it to my graduation safely and if there were any problems driving up to the bay. This is a mechanic that is not only hard working and honest but a caring person.
If youre in the OC area give Nestor a call and have your ride inspected by the best! I am definitely going back for maintenance and care for my ride.

I have taken my cars to The Mechanic OC since they opened. Nestor has helped me with 2 of my cars.
I took my 2002 Nissan Altima to replace Clutch, flywheel, rotors, break pads, spark plugs, radiator, and oil changes. Nestor always has done a good job, and if I have any questions he is very honest on what my car really needs.
I also took a 2006 Dodge Stratus to get the engine replaced, and he helped me find the best engine available at a good price.
Needless to say, The MechanicOC is the best mechanic shop in the OC area. Prices are very competitive, and they offer quality service. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to do some maintenance on their car.

Based on all the positive yelp reviews I decided to give The Mechanic OC a call. Nestor picked up the phone and right off the bat he made me feel comfortable with all his advice he gave me for my particular situation. I felt like he was trustworthy and honest. He also quoted me a few different prices over the phone which were very reasonable with the other quotes I was getting.
I decided to take my car into his shop for his free vehicle inspection to determine the exact problem my car was having. When I arrived he quickly got my car into a lift and started inspecting it. As I waited in the lounge I noticed how nice and clean it was compared to the other repair shops I have been to. Netflix kept me entertained and the free bottled water he had in the fridge kept me hydrated while I waited to hear back from him.
After Nester found the problem he took to me to my car and educated me as to what was causing it and how to prevent it from happening in the future. I left my car with him for the day and the next day he call me to tell me everything went well and my car was ready to pick up.
I was EXTREMELY happy with the service I received that I have started bringing 2 other vehicles to Nestor to service.

If you are looking for a straight up honest Mechanic, take ur vehicle here. Took my truck to another shop in AV and the guy says ur rear differential is bad and needs to be replaced oh an by the way its 2500 to do the job? What??? Also do u wanna keep the truck or sale it?? Coz the gas mileage is like 8 miles a gallon..I dont care this is my dream truck and not my daily driver..Took it over to Nestor and he immediately suspected it was not rear differential. Turns out to be trans and engine mounts :0) done in a day and he let me see the old parts he took out..Oh and that rear differential was practically new just needed a lil fluid..

Car repairs are a stressful experience. Everyone has a "mechanic," and I may have just found my new go-to place.

Sooo the best place and prices ever for getting your car maintenance!! I needed my brakes fixed,So I thought. my friend referred me to the mechanic Oc and it was the best decision I made for my car!! It was right down the street from my work so I dropped it off in the morning and he called me to tell me what was wrong with my car and it wasn't my brakes it was my brake drums they needed to be tightened and then my tires needs to be balanced. Hi everyone!
I stopped by The mechanic Oc because I thought that I had something wrong with my car. There was what I thought to be the engine light on and decided to bring my car in to see what was wrong.
We'll Nestor who is the owner of the company checked it and found that the last place were I got my oil change done which was about 3 weeks to a month ago failed to switch the oil light to off.
Nestor could have easily ripped me off and could have told me that there where all kinds of things wrong with my car but he was super honest and told me that my car was more then fine. He switched the maintenance required light to off and that was that. I will be coming back in the future to Nestor since I know that he won't be quick to take advantage of a car illiterate like me.

I brought my 2005 Nissan Xterra to Nestor at The Mechanic OC based on all the great Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed.
My smog was coming up and my check engine light was on (bad cat and/or o2 sensors). I absolutely needed whatever was causing that fixed and also desperately needed a break job and oil change. Knowing this would be a big and expensive job, I did research to see what my car needed so I would be prepared if I was given the typical up selling tricks I've experienced at other mechanic shops. However, after Nestor ran his checks on my car, he informed me of exactly what I needed. Nothing more and nothing less. This was certainly refreshing.
The service was done on my car the following weekend and in a timely fashion. I was even given a loaner vehicle since the work was estimated to take the whole day.
Nestor's professionalism and honesty has definitely earned my return business. Thanks Nestor!

I drive a 2008 Lexus IS250 and I've been taking my car to Nestor for about two years. My car is kind of a diva and I need to make sure she is taken care of- so I always go to Nestor. They are very friendly my friend and I were greeted with smiles as soon as we walked in. Nestor reset all of my warning lights on my car and did a diagnoses for free :D the lights on my dashboard were very annoying and I know that he had a hard time resetting it so thank you for fixing that. The front desk lady was very nice and offered drinks to us and very sociable. I highly recommend him if you have a German car. He gave a quote on the transmission oil flush which was very reasonable so I'll be going back to get that serviced.

If you own a BMW and want to maintain your car properly and keep in running longer, there is no need to go to a dealer like I did for 10 years, bring it to Nestor and have him to take care of your car. He would do better job and have it done faster than your dealer would do and most importantly with WAY BETTER price! Nestor is not your regular mechanic, he is young but very talented, experienced and professional. I certainly appreciated his honesty, integrity, efficiency and also he is very accommodating. His sister Diana is a wonderful assistant, well-knowledged and very helpful. Together they provide an excellent service. I drive my BMW 330xi with a peace of mind, because I have Nestor as my mechanic!

Out of all the repair shops I've been to, I had the BEST experience at The Mechanic OC. Nesto's combination of skill, knowledge, and intuition is exactly what I was looking for in a mechanic. Rather than simply hook a car up to diagnostic machinery, he gives his personal time and attention and ultimately solves the problem. I am confident he would never misrepresent a problem or overcharge in any way. I now insist that The Mechanic OC perform all my routine services and maintenance. I truly would not trust my car with anyone else and recommend him to anyone seeking a competent, trustworthy mechanic.

Went to The Mechanic OC due to a light that had come on my dash board that I haven't seen before & I wasn't sure what it meant. I had recently gotten my tires replacement and apparently the place hadn't done everything correctly. So Nestor checked it out for me and found that the last place where I got my tires replacement at a few days earlier didn't reset the tire pressure light. He kindly checked all my tires for me, filled up my spare tire & reset the tire pressure light. I have no clue what goes on with cars & it's refreshing to know I can come here for car service & not be taken advantage of. I would defiantly recommend The Mechanic OC to everyone. (:

Great service! No one wants to wake up to a flat tire when they're on their way to work. I contacted The Mechanic OC and told them my issue at hand. Nestor was super friendly and said he would do an inspection of my tire to make sure it wasn't more serious than a patch. While I was there I asked if he could change my oil and also do a car inspection as my check engine light had recently turned on. As I was dreading to hear the price Nestor let me know that he would do a complete check up of my vehicle for FREE! I was delighted to learn this as most auto places tend to charge for a diagnosis. I was in and out of the auto shop within an hour. They were super friendly and provided me with bottled water and free wifi so I could still do work while I waited for my car. I would recommend this establishment to all my friends and family!

Okay so this place definitely deserves 5 stars. Not only do you get a free inspection but the service is amazing. It's so hard to find a mechanic that is reliable and actually cares about their customers nowadays but this place completely changed my mind I will never take my car anywhere else. So....we are new to the area, our transmission went out while we were driving in Mission Viejo. I used YELP to look for a shop and found The Mechanic OC. It was a leap of faith based on YELP reviews. Fast forward, the transmission had to be rebuilt, a very expensive repair. I gave the OK for them to repair the car even though they were not a transmission repair shop and based on Nestors, the shop owner assuring me they could do the work. A few days latter, on schedule and within the original estimate, the car was repaired and is running great. They also fixed some other issues they came across during the repair. Bottom line, very clean shop, outstanding service, very honest and reputable. OC Mechanic will be my new mechanic for the foreseeable future.

Had my engine blow up on me about a week ago and boy was I freaking out. I got quoted from another mechanic at $5 Grand to replace the engine. Then I was referred to Mechanic OC with Nestor who made me feel very comfortable and also crushed the other persons quote by leaps and bounds. Not only did he get the work done for exactly what he said he would do it for (no surprises) but he got it done FAST! Plus, he uses social media and I was able to follow everything he was doing to my car with photos and descriptions on Facebook. I came in to get the car today and not only had he replaced the engine but he cleaned my car. I was stoked! It looked great and it drives better than ever. Plus he asked me to come in a couple times to check up and make sure everything was working properly in the next few months. Next time I have any issues with my car or if a friend or family member has an issue, I'm going straight to him. Thank you Nestor!

My car wouldn't work this morning (1/22/15) and I made a long list of mechanics to call. This place had the best reviews so just before 8:00am I decided to give them a call. They were already open and explained to Nester what was going on. He said he'd take a look at it for free and let me know. I dropped my car off, within an hour he called me to let me know what was going on. Alternator and battery. Ugh. I knew this was gonna be bad but it had to be fixed. Nester said that my car would be ready by 1:00pm same day and he'd give me a call to let me know when I could pick it up. He called at 12:30. What amazing turn around service. I show up to pick up my car and he informs me that he also washed my car! What?! That's awesome and a huge thanks!! I checked in on yelp and got the 10% off discount, which saved me some money, which who doesn't like? My car is working perfectly and I don't have to take another day off work. Thanks so much for getting my car in and out. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

I have been having my car serviced for minor and major repairs for over 6 years at Guillermos auto shop. They have always done a good job and even added a few minor repairs for no extra. Only one time, did I bring it back as it turned out to be more than we all thought and it was repaired and fixed with no problems. My car is now getting older (2000) and certain things are just starting to go with age. Mr. Rodriguez has always been fair to me and good with my cars and I am pleased to recommend them to any friend. This is a family business with his wife doing the office and Joe who is another great mechanic who trys hard to get the job done. Thank you, Nancy D.
