Ted has been taking care of our cars for close to 20 years. Currently we have 167,000, 310,000, 200,000, and 75,000 miles on each of our 4 cars. (We keep our cars as long as they are reliable!) Ted is a "real" mechanic who you get to interact with when you bring your car in, not some young kid in a white shirt and tie who is translating for some mechanic way in the back and who you will never get to speak with. Ted is honest. For example, recently I had to take my car in for an airbag recall, and when I came to pick up the car, the dealer listed 10 things that needed to be done. I discussed with Ted (who had recently worked on my car), and he determined that none of these items were necessary. And given how long my cars have lasted, Ted's judgment on these matters is excellent. Ted's a real professional, is experienced, honest, and knows what he is doing.

I needed a smog check. Ted was super nice on the phone & also in person and told me to come by. I was in and out in about 10-15 minutes...I occupied myself by sending some emails in the waiting area. Once the smog check was finished, Ted gave me a detailed explanation that certificate was electronically sent to the DMV and when I could expect my new stickers. Sooooooo painless. I'll DEFINITELY come back here again!!!

Ted Bass is an honest, fair and super trustworthy mechanic!
While historically my dad has done our family car maintenance, he has recently had a shoulder operation so when my Grandmather's car started to make a rattle, he sent her to this shop for her Honda Civic because he's known him for decades and is the only local guy he would trust.
They are easily reached by phone and after a brief chat, they scheduled the diagnosis and repair for the next day. In a world where our cars are our LIFEBLOOD, this is practically priceless!
Long story short, it was her cam sensor which he charged a very reasonable price for parts and labor was more than reasonable - the most important part of course is that Little Grama treated so well by all the guys there and she was not swindled or taken advantaged of! THAT peace of mind is worth the world.
Refreshingly fair pricing with honest service.
We will absolutely be back!

The others that have posted are exactly right!!! Ted is a super and trustworthy
It is always hard to find a mechanics shop that also cares about you as a person rather than just working on your car. Ted takes the time to explain everything to you that may be needed for your vehicle and won't tell you all of this other work that should be done like I have experienced in the past! I will be bringing all of my cars back to Teds place when required and of course I love to talk about great places and it I will be letting all of my friends know how well you are treated at Teds shop just wish I could have found out sooner as I'm sure I would have saved money and time
Like I said I do highly recommend Teds shop also Ted also keeps you posted with updates on your vehicle so your never in the dark

5 stars is NOT enough!
When our 14 year-old minivan wouldn't initiate a smog test, we took it to several mechanics and then 2 Toyota dealerships. It wasn't failing the test, it wouldn't initiate the test. The Toyota dealership suggested starting by replacing catalytic converters at $2,000 each (car has 3). Frustrated, we looked on Yelp and found Accurate Auto had great reviews. Ted was skeptical that it was the cat., did some investigating, replaced a $70 part and drove the car at different speeds to get the drive cycles in order. A few days later, it ran the test, passed smog and we were on our way. So rare to find someone who is dedicated to solving the problem, not just throwing parts at a car. Honest, skilled and patient. I called to enquire abuot some information on how I go about getting some things checked and replaced on my car. The man that answered the phone was not only the rudest most UN helpful, he made me feel completely stupid!! It was an uncomfortable phone call and this made me never want to go here...I should have known as I have heard similar things from others, but I figured I would give them a chance....forst impression sucked horribly!!!! I would not recommend them....Pro care off La Paz has always been straight forward, reasonable, and never fails me...you can even get your own parts and only pay for labor!!! AGAIN! Just brought my car in for an oil, lube, and tire rotation with a $19.99 coupon. They honored the coupon with no reluctance, were very nice, and got the job done in about 45 minutes with no appointment (early, before 9 on a Weds.).
While I was there, the gentleman took a number of other customers. One had to get some repairs done for a failed smog inspection. He told them that he would fix the car, pass the smog, and call him when it was done. I thought thought that was nice service. Another lady needed tires and he called some places to get some options. The option she chose were tires from a place that did not deliver in a timely way, so he sent a worker to go pick them up. Again, good service.
No complaints, if you're deciding, I say do it. Coupon in pictures.

This is the second time that I have visited this shop - two different cars. I really feel that they were honest with me about prices, time and expectations. Ted is as straight forward as you can get. I got my car in to be fixed the same day that I called, both times. Although, in one case, they were unable to fix the car because Ford has not released an official "fix" for the problem. This is not their fault. They didn't charge me for diagnosis or any of the time that they spent with my car. The place is very clean. Overall, I am very pleased with my two experiences here.

Since it was a Monday in the late afternoon, I called first to ask if I could bring the car that day and was told most pleasantly to come right in. Tom had me in and out in under 20 minutes. Posted the same thing on Google, but originally found this business on Yelp.
Needed the standard smog check on my lifted Jeep. Was doing the usual coupon searching, but also checking out Yelp and Google reviews. Had been unhappy with many of the usual advertisers over the last couple of years. Never found anybody that I would go back to, especially for repairs. Got a friendly response from Ted when I called ahead. Got a friendly greeting from Ted when we eventually showed up without an appointment. Shop and waiting room were clean, though we were out in 20 minutes or so. Most telling part of the experience was how Ted treated another customer, explaining an issue to her, showing her a clean filter vs a dirty filter and being sensitive to her concern about cost. I get the feeling that I will be treated fairly when we come back, which we will.

I was recommended to Accurate Auto Repair by my AAA office in Mission Viejo. I've been 3 times now and the service has been excellent! The thing I like the most is that Ted and the mechanics seem trustworthy and competent- something as most of you know is not easy to find in the Auto Repair industry! Read great yelp reviews and had them do a smog check on my car 12/2012). They come across as honest, down-to-earth, and knowledgeable. I came back (1/2013) with my other car for an oil change. They aren't as cheap as those drive-thru oil changes, but I trust them more and they don't do crazy up sells like the little chain stores do. His price was comparable to the dealership but he got me in the same day (dealer was booked for three days). Before I left, Ted informed me that I had a bad air filter (not the right type) and showed me and explained why it wasn't good to use the reusable ones (I didn't know my hubby had tried that). Ted was worried about me driving around with it like that and so he ordered and got a new filter in the next day and didn't even charge for labor! I think I've finally found a good local mechanic. :)

Ted and his staff at Accurate Auto Repair are amazing! I had recently bought a 1985 Toyota Corolla GTS and it was in pretty bad shape. In order to get it registered with the DMV, I knew I had to get it smogged so I looked around for STAR certified test & repair centers on the CA BAR website and cross-referenced those listings with Yelp reviews. The one that stood out was Accurate Auto and rightly so! Ted was very honest with me and the condition of my car, telling me what it would take to fix it and how much. The problems we encountered under that hood were pretty daunting, but he never gave up. I think most mechanics and repair shops out there would have just charged to replace the entire engine or given up saying it was irreparable. Not Ted! He fixed the car up and smogged it, all within a budget that I could afford. He even went out parts-shopping looking for hard-to-find parts for my old car! Amazing customer service, honest, and knowledgeable. That is how I would describe Accurate Auto Repair.

This was my first visit to Accurate Auto Repair based upon the Yelp reviews. As noted by the other reviewers, Ted was friendly, attentive, and their service was very fast and professional. I went for a smog check on a Porsche Boxster, and since it's mid-engine, other places wanted to charge me extra.....Ted did not. In addition, I printed his $10 off coupon off his website to boot.

These guys are first class! I've taken both my cars there several times and each time I've received nothing but the best service. Ted, the owner, is a solid guy who knows his way around cars like no one else. I initially went there for a smog test and ended up going back for service and several repairs. They are honest as the day is long, very fair in their pricing and did a great job on the car repairs (one of which turned out to be hideously complicated but they figured it out and fixed it for next to nothing)! Great place for Smog Check! I waited last minute, called on Saturday morning and Ted fit me in for a smog check which only takes a 1/2 hour. Their price was in line with other places. You might save $10 at the cheapest of places, but you won't nearly get the efficient & smooth service I got. I was so happy to get it over with and now I can pay my registration online. It passed of course! =) Very friendly service. Convenient that they are open on Saturdays until noon.
I decided to Yelp this business today because most people tend to only Yelp the negative. We don't nearly focus on positive experiences in life. This was the easiest smog check I ever had done and I thought it was important to let everyone know! Hope that helps!

My wife and I moved to California last year, and needed to get some quick repairs on our cars before heading for the Motor Vehicle Dept. We found Ted's shop, and he and his crew are a collective gem.
