These folks are super fantastic. My car died on freeway, jumping no good. Tow truck driver was able to tell me it was likely the alternator. Came to this place, towed here, no warning, with my dead car :p
They took me in, fed me pizza, gave me chocolate and four hours of pleasant hanging out and watching then work later, I have a working vehicle. Can confirm from direct observation and experience that these are some hardworking folks, people who know their stuff, with great attitudes. They won't rip you off.
They're ethical, real, and kind. Send them some love. They'll take care of you!

I have worked with two shops since I moved here 22 years ago. The first was Holland Service in Albany and the second is Precision Auto. I deal with Precision Auto because I moved to San Leandro and dragging a car and self to Albany is a trick. These guys are good and fair, what more needs to be said. They also tend to bring out whatever part they fixed and show you exactly what went wrong and why they did what they did. Easily one of the best in the bay area.

I gotta say this place really rocks.
I had been having some trouble with my vehicle( an older vw jetta model) where it wouldn't go into reverse. I wasn't sure why but I knew I needed a good mechanic to help me out. I'm new to the area so I searched places with good reviews and Precision Auto Care was top of the list. I can see why now, because when I went in they were very personable and helpful. I originally thought I was gonna be there for a couple hours so I gave myself a window of time.
Low and behold tho about 30 minutes later one of the mechanics had found an oil cap that I had lost a couple months ago in the linkage which is what stopped it from going in reverse. Who would have thought! And at the end of it all I was only charged 20 bucks!

We have had enough great experiences with Jimmy at Precision to want to leave a glowing review. Today he clued me into a glove box button that had rendered my trunk inoperable until he showed me how to use the button! For large and small repairs Jimmy is honest, fair, fast, quality and welcoming. We've never felt put off, or treated poorly at his shop. We are just so happy with Precision and are happy to have found them!

If you are looking for a reasonable and very honest shop this is it. A friend of mine recommended this shop to me after I got ripped off at a couple of other places. The owner Jim has worked on several of our cars and even saved me from having to buy another car when the Dodge dealership told me that our car was not fixable, he worked on it got another two years out of it. He has a very busy shop and you can trust that he is never going to do anything to the car that isn't necessary because he isn't "hungry". He takes the time to explain everything that he's going to do on the car and afterwards what they found and what work they completed. If I could give this place 10 stars I would.

Precision Auto Care is amazing. I talked to several mechanics who couldn't figure out an electrical problem with my car and wanted to charge me a lot of money for an evaluation. As soon as I brought it to Precision Auto Care, they figured out the problem in less than 10 min, and were also able to fix another problem I had based on the mechanic's superb knowledge and experience. They were kind enough not to charge me because it was easy for them to fix the issue. These guys are truly experts and know how to treat their customers well.

Though the bill was a tough one to swallow, especially after Xmas but that said, my car needed some TLC after driving around two different states and much city driving while ignoring my vehicle's regular service.
The customer service woman was really great (sorry, I didn't catch any names). The person who closed me out, I'm assuming was the owner or head mechanic, was very thorough on the work that was done, threw in some wipers because he saw that I needed some.
They called me after checking my car and the numerous pesky issues, which not all shops do! They went over prices before doing any work and confirmed that they could get me car to me that day. They threw in wipers which was badly needed and I appreciated it!
I have found my new service center for my car, and I'm thrilled that I didn't have to kiss a lot of frogs before finding this place. First timer who plans on going back for regular maintenance!

My first time at the shop was this week, and I had a great experience.
Car overheated, and I wasn't sure if there was any damage to the motor. The staff did a great job diagnosing the problem (failed hose), and repaired at a fair price.
They even noticed my brake light was out, and replaced multiple bulbs for free.

I have been going here for a few years and really trust jimmy with my car. He is always busy but will make time for your car and fit you in to his busy schedule. I always feel like he has my best interest in mind and that he does not overcharge me.
When I needed a car he hooked me up with a reliable source and put me in touch with someone to sell me their car. He did all of the work on my car w the previous owner and in my humble opinion just does good business. I feel he is very trustworthy and would refer to anyone to him!
There have been times where I dropped my car off to him for work to be done and he gave me a ride back to my job.
If you ever deal with him and feel like you are being rushed off the phone, trust they are very busy and do not let that sway your decision on going there. This guy is in high demand and getting the job done!

Corvette Club members recommend this shop last year. Have had three repairs for my 2001 C5 convertible. Each was job fairly priced and work well done and through. They took the time to show the stuff that was replaced and explained in detail what was done.
This is a neat place just to walk around in. Apparently many locals bring their custom stuff here. Always seems to have some Vettes, Stangs, & other really cool rides in the shop.. Although their specialty is Vette's and Mustangs (ugh)..the do work on other vehicles too. There location is very convenient. The Yelp (and others) reviews are mostly excellent.
Now lets see what they can do with my old battered Ford F150 with 139,000 miles!!

Superior customer service. High quality automotive repair work. And very accommodating and flexible staff. My trusty commuter broke down around the corner from Precision, which is out of town for me. Instead of towing the vehicle all the way back to my home town, I elected to take it to Precision on advice of both the towing company and another business' recommendation (ironically another local mechanic, though he specialized in British vehicles). Precision allowed me to actually borrow one of their cars for a quick run to take my client somewhere as he got stuck with me when we broke down. And although the repair to my car took a while (full valve job done in about 8 business days), and the final tab wasn't cheap, it was all necessary, unfortunately, and it was clear they hustled to get mine done as quickly as possible. Overall, having the customer service as strong and accommodating as it was helped ease the pain of both the price and the wait. And Jimmy has also offered a return check up service for free, which is a rare benefit in the industry. The high ratings for this business on here are warranted. Honest, quality, reliable, great customer service and staff. Your car's in good hands here.

I've been here a few times and like that they are not only "straight shooters" about what is going on with my vehicles, but they diagnose them right the first time and their estimates are close (No hidden surprises)! Wow! Yelp works!!!! Had an emergency with my 2000 Grand Marquis - stopped and had to be towed! Suspected it was the fuel pump (I'm no mechanic, but I was right!) - was going to take it elsewhere but came to Yelp - saw Precision Auto Care and the mostly positive reviews - they deserve every single one! Diagnosed it, gave me a quote - car was ready the following day and the price was LESS than the quote!
I also LOVE the way the mechanic actually brought out the old parts to show me what they replaced.
Suffice to say ... They have a new customer! and I'll be recommending my friends too!
Oh yeah ..and Kristen? She's a hoot! and a Sweetheart!

Jimmy and his beautiful assistant are always helpful. They take care of my wife's Prius and do an excellent job of recommending service's to keep it on the road. Jimmy's prices seem better than fair.

They are very fast and efficient here, however at the end of the day, they did not properly diagnose and resolve my automotive issue. Rather than taking my car in for a third time, I elected to go to S&K (down the street on E 14th). Additionally, my family had been taking their automobiles to Precision for years, but the courtesy "discount" I was to receive as a result of that was no less than any other repair place. Not very pleased with my experience for an otherwise well reviewed establishment.

Jimmy is truly an outstanding customer oriented businessman. When my car broke down, I took it to Jimmy and he evaluated the situation for free. It turned out my car was toast. Jimmy presented all the options in terms of junkyards, private sales, and so on. I decided to sell the car, and Jimmy even helped me with the DMV title transfer. I had my car in Jimmy's lot for a week, got a free diagnosis, recommendations on tow trucks and junk yards, guidance on selling my car on craigslist, and help with transferring the title. All for free. Outstanding service. I will be going back when I need service on my new car.

This review is over due...the experience is from when my fianc took her 1999 Honda Civic to this shop when she was having some issues with the car randomly "stalling out/shutting off" while driving. They were up front and said that if it were electrical, it may be hard to diagnose, but they would give it a go. She ended up having them replace a relay as an attempt to fix the problem. A few days later the car was still having the same issues. So she asked me to go in with her to explain to the mechanic what I thought it was. Initially I questioned whether it was related to her after market alarm and the ignition kill switch function, perhaps the alarm brain was failing and causing the switch to shut off. So I asked, "Is it possible that the ignition switch or the alarm are causing a problem? It almost seems like the car is electronically 'turning off'." The guy at the counter flatly said, that couldn't be the problem and the other possible solutions may total up to $650 in additional parts and labor.
She ended up not having the repairs done and two weeks later I took the car to the Honda Dealership for an oil change and they let me know there was a recall from 2002 on the ignition switch that "could cause the vehicle to shut off while driving." Honda fixed it for free and it's been problem free for almost a year now.
These guys were very nice and tried to be helpful and did everything they could to not unreasonably charge her for repairs she did not need. The fact of the matter and the reason for 2 stars is I asked about the problem and it was dismissed was agrivating. I've been told that a lot of auto shops will run checks for Recalls to see if there are known problems with vehicles. Had this been done, it would have saved her the first repair which was around $150 bucks for the first attempt.

Jimmy and the crew at Precision are awesome. They work quickly, are thorough, and are willing to work with your schedule to get your car back to you ASAP. Jimmy is honest and up-front about all anticipated and completed work. He even advises what work is essential and what can be done in the future. Prices are very reasonable and competetive. After working with Jimmy, I wouldn't trust my car with anyone else.

I've been taking my care here for 5 or 6 years. They are honest and have even sent me to other places a couple of times because they knew I'd be able to get it done cheaper elsewhere. Where else can you find a mechanic like that?
I took my car in last week because of a melted wire. To replace the wire was over $1000 if you purchased a new wiring unit, so Jimmy went to the junkyard and found a replacement wire he cut out of another VW for $10. After fixing the wiring, the air conditioning, changing my oil, and diagnosing my airbag light, the total cost was less than $400 for parts and labor.
On top of this, they always keep you in the loop about what is happening and are really good about communication. Definitely take your car here.

One word to describe this shop HONEST! I came in with a check engine light worried because I had gone to pep boys to read the codes. Apparently my cylindar was misfireing . I knew that at this point, I was going to have to break my bank. Later that day I went to Precision for a FULL engine diagnostics.... Long story short, I needed oil and im an idiot! Once again, Jimmy and Co. took good care of me. Big Red (my 2000 Jeep Cherokee) needed a new radiator. Took her in this morning, got a phone call with the estimate within the hour, and the price was more than fair. When I came to pick her up, the price had gone down. When I asked why, I was told that I was given $25.00 off because I'm a good customer! Who does that? Jimmy does! If you're looking for an honest mechanic and a fair price, look no further.

I'm as skeptical as they come when it comes to mechanics but I gave these guys a try because a friend, whose opinion I respect, recommended them. I first took my Infinity to them a few months ago and had them do a tune up and oil change. Price was reasonable and no problems but I'm not going to Yelp about that.
But last week, these guys really earned my respect. I wanted them to check out my suspension because I noticed a rough ride when I had a full load. Jimmy, the owner told me that my suspension components were fine and didn't need to be replaced. However, he said that "if I wanted a better ride, he could recommend a hydraulic suspension system that would cost about $1,000. It's certainly not necessary but I would notice a big difference. I decided to have the work done. They did a great job, saved the old components in case I wanted them and wow, what a difference in the performance. By the way, they also gave me a ride to and from my office.
These guys are honest, astute, very reasonably priced and considerate they even called me several days later to make sure that I was happy with the results. That's everything I want in a mechanic.

****Jimmy Is Awesome **** My check engine light came on, then my car starting driving funny. I thought I needed a new Transmission. So I brought my vehicle to Precision Auto Care in San Leandro, CA, based on the great reviews they received. I'm so glad I made this choice. The staff is great, friendly & very honest. Turns out all I needed to replace was my Output Shaft Speed Sensor. They fixed the issue and it only cost $230. I don't need a new transmission. (Thank you Jesus) now my check engine light is off and I can smog my car. This will definitely be the place I take my car for any future auto repairs!

WOW! I am impressed. They are very honest, fair, skilled, friendly, on time, efficient, and did some extra work for me for free.
I had taken my car to another shop and after nearly $400 later I was told that I needed a full-fledged mechanic to work on my car. Huh? Wasn't I at a mechanics' shop already and why wasn't I told that they really only do tune-ups?
I checked around and was told to go to Jimmy at Precision Auto in San Leandro.
Well, Jimmy took care of me. He told me that the other place should have spotted the problem right away by pulling one wire off and seeing the result.
Jimmy was fabulous. He kept me up-to-date on everything and my car is running like it's brand new. He wants me to drive a 1000 miles, bring it in, and he will give me a FREE oil change just to make sure everything is in top shape. Unbelievable.
I DEFINITELY recommend him. Honest is one word to describe Jimmy. Expert is the word to describe the mechanics.

I usually repair my own car, but just moved to the area and have limited tools so came here to get my brakes serviced due to all the 5 star reviews.
As far as great service, yes. I got an estimate of 250-275 over the phone for front pads and rotors, total wound up being $253. I don't think I've ever had an estimate that accurate before. Workmanship seems great so far, front brakes feel solid and they tightened up my E-brake and checked and topped off my oil.
When it came to checking my car, they took off the wheels, showed me exactly what I needed and verified that everything was okay. No upselling, but did check my fluids which is always something to be grateful for.
As far as garages go, I have zero complaints about this one, and thats all you can ask for when it comes to mechanics. I'd definitely take my car here again, 5 stars.

Wow! What a breath of fresh air...a mechanic/auto repair shop that is just not in it to rip you off. My Toyota Corolla with 195,000 miles on it would not pass smog. I looked on Yelp! for a place to take it and ended up here. I am glad I did. I am a female that has been ripped off several times by mechanics and this place took care of me. They give you options from a more economical fix...to your car will last a little longer...felt like I was in control for once about decisions to fix the problem with my car. They did fix the problem and even took it back to the smog check center to get it passed. All I can say is WOW! I will be coming back here again. They also took some off my bill for just asking for a Yelp! discount. The integrity and honesty is worth it, plus they understand people's economical challenges in this economy. I am very pleased with the service.

The check engine light came on in my thus-far reliable 2005 Ford Escape. Based on the 16 five-star reviews, I decided to take my vehicle to Precision Auto Care in San Leandro. I took my car in on Friday after work. Unfortunately, they were closing in two hours. I explained the situation to Kristen, whom was friendly and courteous. She took down my information and told me I could bring the car into the shop and drop it off before going to work on Monday. On Monday morning, I did just that. After reading the codes and inspection, it was found that I had a bad oxygen sensor (emission system part). Kristen called to explain the problem with my car and gave me an estimate of the costs and labor. After authorizing the repairs, Jimmy and his crew worked to replace the needed parts. When the car was done, Kristen called to tell me the car was ready. After work, I went to pick up the car. The check engine light was off, and the problem was fixed. Jimmy personally showed me the faulty parts that were replaced. The price was reasonable, and Kristen was able to give me a 10% discount when I mentioned Yelp! Although they service cars, Precision Auto Care truly understands that this really is a people-first business. Kudos to you!

I first came in with my brother's truck after reading the reviews. II was impressed because Jimmy looked at the transmission on his computer for free and told me that it didn't need to be fixed. Later, I came in with another pickup truck after getting an estimate from elsewhere. He beat the price without knowing that I had another estimate and he mentioned issues that were optional that could wait. He fixed a transmission leak for free. He tells you the truth and gives good advice. He finds ways to save you money. I've been there with three vehicles so far. I have the same experience on all three. Jimmy appears to be an honest person who tries to be fair and reasonable. They had the expertise to find the problem the first time instead of repairing what I didn't need.

JImmy is always doing those things that are necessary to get one back on the road again and worry free. Moreover, I have no doubt that for every one of these highly rated recommendations there are a ton more that would echo them. Every friend that I have recommended to Jimmy's place have spoke highly of him. One classic example is a buddy of mine who was told from another repair facility that he would need work that would run him into the thousands. When it came to auto maintenance, I was very cynical until I went to Precision. I usually take my vehicle to the dealer for service and always came away thinking that they forgot something. That was reinforced when the power steering started to leak. I was about to take it back but the last time they had the car they mentioned that it would be a huge job. This time however the steering had totally become a manual due to the fluid leak. I called Precision and spoke with Jim and he told me to bring it in. They were about to close but he took the time to put it on the lift and trace where the leak had started. The power steering hose had worked its way loose because a clip used to hold it place had not been attached. Jim and Ramon tightened the hose and secured it, and the car is running fine after that. I will be going to Precision from now on and will not have the same feeling of "what am i getting taken for this time" when I brought the car to the dealer.

I've ALWAYS been pleased here. Each time I have brought my jeep in, had wonderful customer service and updates AND done in a timely manner. I recently had another issue and tow company also had repair shop so against my gut instinct, i took a chance n now regret it. After only driving it home after 6 days in the shop, it has the same issue I turned it in for and received my vehicle dirty in the interior n horrible service. I'm never doing that again. ALWAYS trust your gut! These guys are great! Hence, my truck will be in there again.

Are you kidding? these guys are amazing! I will not take my car anywhere else. Every time I have worked with them I came out not only feeling like I have been taken care of but also that they truly cared about me. Your car deserves to be cared for by these people! Adding to this after reading the only bad review that was posted. So sorry he had a bad experience. Every place has someone where things just did not work out. I am NOT paid by them. I am NOT a pro reviewer. I had Beetle for 12 years that they kept running. I have no idea how they did it. I had an amazing amount of miles on it when we finally retired the car. They have ALWAYS treated me well. They were great at leading me to pay less than I would have. I had to replace an engine. They did it. But they told me "Here is a list of other things we can do now that the engine is out that is CHEAP! If you wait till the engine is back in it is all expensive! Lets bundle this together." They saved me in the long rung LOTS of money. Every store or service has someone with reason to be unhappy. But it looks like the majority here had a GREAT experience with them.

NASTIEST BUNCH OF LOSERS THAT WORK THERE!! THEY NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN YESTERDAY !!! rip you off with inflated price, take 2 weeks for something that should've been done in 2 hours and it's still broken. if you call he will slam the phone down on you. they've had numerous complaints including BBB against them check it out!! this is one untrustworthy, dishonest scammer shop you should stay away!! unless you enjoy being ripped off beyond your worst nightmare !!! unreal. good riddance geeez. how they have not been shut down, they are ruining engines left and right. the other reviewers are paid friends of theirs to lie to lure business/ victims !!!
