I never thought I'd write a review for a Smog Testing Center, but I was so impressed with my experience here that I HAD to!
Firstly, I like that this establishment is family owned and operated. So my experience here was very personalized and made me feel welcomed and valued (I wasn't just a number).
I was in a pinch and had my registration deadline the following day. I was able to call ahead of time to make an appointment with a 30 minute notice, take 15 minutes to drive to their shop, get served in 6 minutes and only waited about 16 minutes for my smog test to complete. I was in and out with the littlest of effort and time consumed!!
The only true negative here is that they have a very small and cramped waiting area. It can really only fit one customer comfortably. There were various magazines to read and plenty of informative canine photos to sift through though. I guess it's not a priority because the service is so fast here ;)
Truly awesome experience and service!! I highly recommend Morena Smog if you're in the area.

We are new to California and didn't realize we needed to get a smog test. While waiting on line at DMV, I googled a place that does a smog test and can replace tires, and I found this place. They took us pretty much right away with no appointment and only a 20 minute wait. I was also not sure if I needed new tires, but they said that they look fine for now. Wow, that is 100% honesty! They now have our business.

I was buying a 78 El Camino from this guy who is selling it for a friend type situation. While I don't get the feeling that the guy selling it is shady I still felt it necessary to spend the cash to make sure it can pass smog before I shell out the cash for it.
This guy literally has a CA smog check station 4 blocks from his house. They turned me away because the car was too old and their equipment can't handle it. He did send me to another station who could do it.
So I head up the hill to another place...When I get there, they turn me away for the same reason. I asked for a place to go and he sent me a couple of miles back down the hill.
When I get there I had already spent 30 minutes driving this totally awesome El Camino...It was fun but I was ready for all the hassle to stop. When I get there I ask the guy "Can you smog check a 78 El Camino?" His response..."Yes, but we close in 15 minutes so..." he can't even start it. I offered him a $20 tip for his time and he told me no "There are cameras everywhere..."
I seriously had no idea that smog checking a car that is older was this troublesome.
Luckily the 3rd guy sent me to Morena Smog. These cats were great. The started the smog test 10 minutes before closing. After about 15 minutes she comes over and asks if I know about the non-California certified catalytic converter. Not a cheap repair...luckily it was the only repair needed as everything else passed.
Thank you for saving me a ton of money on this El Camino! It would have sucked to buy it and then have to pay for a replacement catalytic converter. Now I get an even better deal on a sweet 78 El Camino!

This place is quick and precise. I came here on a Monday morning to get my cars jogged and the guy was on it. Close to places if you want to eat while waiting. I just waited cause it was quick. My husband always goes here and never had any issues

I was down in San Diego and realized I needed my car smog check. I went in for my smog check just a few minutes before closing and they were willing to do it and stay open. They provided great service. My car passed and they also performed a few things on my car which was going above and beyond.

They don't only do smogs! They sell and repair tires too! The owners are awesome and ridiculously nice! Not the cleanest place, but it's a super small tire and smog shop. Kind of hard to fit so much stuff in the tiny place, but it works!
This place is a true representative of how a business should run! Nice and honest service at a more than reasonable price!

This place is great! I showed up at 11AM and was out by 11:15 with a smog certificate. The two people running the place are awesome. It's a little hole in the wall place right where Morena Blvd splits...they do other work outside of smog work...honest couple, throw them some business.

I am a car dealer who is moving from Kearny Mesa to the Morena District. I signed my lease today and had a vehicle that I needed smogged.
I called a couple of places near the new location to find a place more convenient than the one I have used for the past 9 years.
When I spoke with Mindy, she was super nice and inviting. This was in contrast to the grump that I spoke with at another place I called.
I went in and was pleased to find that Mindy was just as nice in person (or nicer) than she was on the phone.
I got in and out very quickly and it was a very pleasant experience. I think I found my new go-to place. It is a bonus that they have a tire shop next door and a mechanic's shop.

This is a great little place! Called the shop when the shortest wait time can be expected and they suggested to come in right away. Sure enough, there was no wait time when I arrived! I was in and out so quickly.
The service tech Kaitlin was super professional and knowledgeable. Other SMOG stations had issues with my federalized European car that went to the BAR referee at one point in it's history. Here, it wasn't a problem to pass SMOG at all.
Noteworthy, even Beemer & Benz let their customer cars smog here, that should say a lot!

Fast service and professional personnel. Loved the fact that they had pictures of dogs on the wall. If you love animals you are number 1 in my book. Parking and exiting is a bit tricky, but they helped me back out. Wonderful service during a stressful situation--will my out-of-state older vehicle pass? I highly recommend!

I had a 9:00 appointment here this morning. I arrived about 10 minutes early as I am new to the area and didn't know where I was going. It was not a problem at all. They pulled my vehicle in immediately for my Smog test and had me done and ready to go in less than 20 minutes. I will recommend this place and am also taking our other vehicle in on Saturday for a Smog test as well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The shop includes some great tire service. I was in a jam getting my boat in the water at mission bay and the trailer got a flat. So they bailed me out by fixing the valve stem. So I didn't need to but a new tire. They sure saved me some dough. I would definitely come back when my tires wear out.

Best smog test station I've ever been too! It only took 15 mins and the staff was super efficient. My time is valuable and none was wasted at Morena Smog. It's a total whole in the wall but you can't beat the service or prices! I recommend it to EVERYONE!

This place is a gem and the service is top-notch. My wife took her car for a smog test and failed due to a bad PCV valve. The staff at Morena Test had her come back with a new part, installed it for her, re-ran her smog test and charged her nothing additional beyond the first test fee. Now THAT'S service! I could not recommend this place any more highly.

I've used these guys several times on difficult vehicles. 40 year old MG and Gigantic Sprinter Diesel Van. They've always accommodated me, always happy to help. They recently stayed open late to get my Sprinter tested..... Their competitors down the block were far less helpful.

These guys try to think too much especially if you have an older car. They tried to tell me my car had too much smog equipment and it wasn't in their book. Of course they charged me anyway. Only place I've ever had smog problems. Passed at the next smog place.

I always take my cars here. Honest, quick, and all around great service. If your car passes, their machine sends the results to the DMV. Then all you do is go on line to complete the registration...no mailing, etc.
