I started bringing my cars here for a smog check because they were always cheaper than anyone else. Plus, they offer free ice cold beverages in an air conditioned room. When they started doing regular auto repair and maintenance, they asked me to give them a shot. After, the first time, I never went anywhere else. They earn your respect. Mike, the owner is a fair and honest business man. They will do whatever it takes to earn your business. I always have my vehicles repaired with Sam. He does a tremendous Job, and if there is a problem with the service, he will make sure it is corrected. Sam is the kind of guy that tells it like it is; with no nonsense. He will take good care of you. Therefore, next time you need your car serviced, bring it here, and ask for Sam; you won't be disappointed that you did.

My 2004 Mazda 6 wagon was not starting. I had checked the battery, wires, fuses ect... I called them in the morning and they said could look at it that day so I had I towed since I live local. After a few hours they called and said a coolant hose had broken and coolant had gotten all over the starter. They fixed the coolant leak and replaced the starter for a fair price and it was finished the same day. This was my first time using this mechanic shop but I will be back if I have any more car trouble. To call a ship and have your car fixed the same day is great! Fair price and they are honest. Would recommend

These guys made it really easy to get in and out for your smog check. The staff was incredibly nice and the prices were explained and I didn't feel like I was getting over charged. When you go to a service with experts in something you know nothing about all you can do is hope they aren't screwing you over. I never felt that way with Simply Smog.
The waiting room was clean and had free sodas for everyone. The whole process of an oil change and smog check took less that an hour even with people waiting.
They also do all car service repair and maintenance so you can go to them for smog but also tires oil and other services. They deserve the ratings they have on yelp.

I had been using Simply Smog for almost 10 years, both at their current and previous location. That is until the owner recently decided that the cost of testing my 20' VW-based RV should suddenly double in price to nearly $100. from the last test in 2014. No coupon or discounts accepted. Owner was rude and evasive. Went to a competitor who was fast, polite and friendly and happy to test the vehicle at a very reasonable cost. I now have a new smog test station that I can highly recommend and will use for all future smog testing.

They are SO honest and truthful. I'm 24 years old and a girl, but I look way younger, so people try and take advantage of me thinking I'm stupid because I'm young. I can take a whole car apart and put it back together by myself, I have worked on my cars with my dad since I can remember. I know all the parts of inside a car. I don't have my own tools and workspace anymore so I had to take it in to get it fixed. I didn't tell anyone at Simply Smog that I know my car back and forth. They fixed the numerous problems that had to be fixed with my car and only those problems and didn't make up random problems like other car places in the past have. They didn't take advantage of me in any way. Highly recommend this place.
Took one star off because they were supposed to refund me the full price of something but they only refunded me for half of it. Not a huge deal but still a little bit of bummer.

The folks there are super sweet and gracious, the customer lounge is like a living room with fresh coffee and cookies. Will definitely be back for any future automotive repairs...they do everything. Great friendly service. Clean lounge waiting room with reading materials, stocked fridge and TV. It's in between United Gas station and car wash, next to Hertz Rental. Just letting you know, cause I missed the driveway and had to make a big loop back, especially with late traffic. Didn't know, but they also do complete lube service. I came in for the smog test, but it's good to know. I used SmogTips website to get a coupon, and saved over $25.00 on wife's Mercedes c300.

I want to say this as professional as possible. So I came to this shop because of the great reviews customers has left. So I came in a Monday and they said it was too busy so I did an appointment for wed morning. I arrive at 8:00 am and there was no vehicles in the shop. Then this mechanic got my Keyes and jumped in the car as if was his own and started reversing and I hear my gears grinding. Then I get went outside and kept an eye on my car which I believe bothered the mechanic because I can see him pointing at me and talking to the other co workers about me. Then an hour into this work they tell me that I have a check engine code which are P1444 and P1446 which I already knew before they started. And they need to do more to check what's wrong and I said ok. Then this mechanic named Sam said they checked for volts which I didn't see no DVOM so that was bullshit and then said he can't check it until noon because he doesn't have a hoist which it was up in the air half an hour later so another bullshit. Then Sam and a service writer named Dave were talking about overcharging a lady with a Toyota RAV4 in front of me. After 4 HOURS OF BEING THERE, they just finished checking what's wrong with my car and tell me it's like around $1000 in parts. So they charge me $248 for labor of 2 1/2 hours not 4 hours of my car just sitting there. I left at 12:12

Great experience. Had quote for our 2006 Toyota Corolla clutch repair. Dealership estimate was outrageous. Got an estimate from here and was less than half the price. Wonderful service and really nice people work there. The lounge is comfy and my kids loved the free sodas and juices!! I would definitely recommend this wonderful auto shop to friends and family. :)

I had my Audi A4 smog test for only $29.95 plus $10 certificate for a total of $39.95. Best deal in town!
The waiting room is very clean with sofa and Flat screen TV, they even have free sodas. It and out in less than $30 mins. I highly recommend Simply Smog.

I went to this place to get my transmission fluid and oil changed. They said that they suck up the transmission fluid so that it's dry all the way and no residue will be left. Iwas very happy with their price and service and the staff were really helpful and friendly, would give them 5 stars for that first time. So i decided to come back after 6 months to get my oil changed. While getting my oil changed I got a call from this place. Saying that i needed my transmission fluid changed, i said well i had that changed six months ago. Guy on the phone said, well what we do is we suck up all the fluid so that no residue of the old fluid is left. Really wanted to tell him "so you guys didn't do that when i had my transmission fluid changed there six months ago?". So I don't know if they really did change my transmission fluid or they just want to squeeze out more money from me. I am really concerned about this shady placr. Will never go back here

Just sold my Jaguar to a buyer from out of state. After the transaction was done, we drove to Simply Smog and they were able to smog the car in and out in 20 min. Mike the smog tech completed the inspection and the new buyer drove out. I take all my cars here because they are honest and considerate of my time. Their price for smog checks are very reasonable and being in the automotive business myself for over 33 years I know what good service is and that's what I get with Simply Smog every time. I tried renewing my car registration the other day and was told that I had to get a smog check. I drive a hybrid so it was a surprise to me that this had to be done now, but oh well. I searched Yelp for a good place that's open on Sunday and found this place. I called them up before going, just to see if there's a long wait time to get my car smog checked. The guy on the phone said that it'll take 15-30 minutes and if I went in right now, they'll be ready for me since there was nobody else. Sweet. I high tailed it to the place which is no more than 5 minutes away from where I was. It's pretty tricky to get in their lot. They share the same lot is Hertz Car Rental. Just keep that in mind because I tried going through Dapper Dan's lot and it wasn't part of the lot (it was blocked off). Once I parked my car, I came inside and the owner happily started with the paperwork. While he was doing the paperwork, someone else came in and grabbed the keys to my car to start the smog check. Once the owner finished with the paperwork, he told me to go in the waiting room. I wasn't really expecting much but they had a nice waiting room with TV, magazines galore, free Wi-Fi, free coffee and sodas. I took a look around for a minute then headed outside to use the phone. Once I went outside, I noticed the mechanic driving my car out of the garage and parking it in the lot. They were finished. That was damn quick. When I came in to pay for the service, the owner was telling me about all the services that they do. It sounded like their main priority in this company is customer satisfaction. He was all about customer service and treating the customer right. After a 2 minute conversation, he has now sold me in going to this place any time I need something done to my car. I highly recommend this place.

Valencia Auto was a lifesaver. While driving from Washington State to Temecula, CA we took our truck to Les Schwab in Vallejo and told them it had been acting odd when braking. They checked and told us we needed to replace the rear brakes and the rotors had to be rebuilt. They charged us $650.
The next day we had problems with it yet again as it was making terrible noises. After trying 3 other places the tow truck brought us to Valencia Auto. The wheel bearing were shot and we needed front brakes. And Les Schwab had told us they were fine yesterday. ???
They did replace both the wheel bearings and the brakes. They fit us into their schedule and got it done the same day.
I am so grateful to Valencia Auto for all their care, auto and people.

I remember giving this company an excellent review, but I didn't find it here on Yelp, so I am doing it again. They know how to run a business - they make sure to have someone call you prior to your smog test needs to remind you of where to take your vehicle. They let you know about the online coupons, which is a big help as well. They offer you a complimentary beverage while you wait, WiFi, and television to keep you occupied during your visit. Although, you are never there very long...Another plus - they take very good care of the facility, and the restrooms are just like home, so you don't feel like you have to stand to keep from touching the seat (like you do at most mechanic shops that are dirty and greasy). This was my second time coming here and when it comes time for my next smog check no doubt I will be back...Thanks for taking such good care of your facility. The cleanliness and quick service are very much appreciated!

It's not even logical how great of a business this place is. I brought my POS car here and they were dead honest in their evaluation. Getting my '86 suzuki samurai to pass smog would be $3k, so they spent tons of time with me in letting me know the best route to get it sold. They didn't even push me to get the car off their lot as it was undriveable and I had no way to get it home.
It truly is because of these guys that I was able to get my car sold and out of my life. This is invaluable.
Insanely accommodating with their shuttle service and overall helpfulness. Mike is a great guy and I wish him and his team the best!

In need of a smog check? Well step right up folks, it's a painless $48 you'll ever have to spend. All you need to do is provide a wee bit of general information, sign a couple of papers and the rest is up to them!
While you wait your turn, you can sit back in their waiting room which is the nicest one I've had to wait in while my ride is getting its' yearly smog check. Plus there's free beverages like coffee, cold water and sodas if you're feeling parched. There's music playing that won't drive you crazy and a couch that's pretty damn comfortable. A nice big coffee table adorned with some light reading and even a box of crayons and blank paper for the little ones. A big plush armchair and a couple of decorative chairs makes waiting a breeze and their magazine selection offers a little something for everyone. The biggest plus (yes folks it gets better) is free WiFi!! Major score for junkies like me always looking for places to get some work done.
Aside from all the nice amenities than the typical smog check places, the guys here are great. Friendly and fast, I value that. They'll also inform you if your ride is in need of auto maintenance (i.e. change brakes, leaky oil, etc).
With a $20 coupon I printed off their site, I paid $48 for services (if for whatever reason you forgot to bring along the coupon you can always use the Yelp check-in offer, it's the same $20 off) and consider it worth the money. I'm a happy customer enjoying the A/C while drafting this review.. oh yeah and checking work e-mails!
Special shoutout to my fellow 661 resident Rodney H., for his review led me here. I'm just a little jealous he got to escape DMV jail within 15 min while I'm sitting here for 30.
BTW, they bailed me out of DMV jail within the 30 mins they estimated and luckily my little engine that could passed, on my way out a fellow customer bade me farewell and congratulations! LOL, I felt like I just birthed a newborn and am in need a of congratulatory cigar. :D

I can't say enough good things about Simply Smog on Bouquet. They smogged my diesel Sprinter van quickly and painlessly. I had brought the wrong coupon but they honored the "right" coupon even though i didn't bring it! The waiting room is bright clean and they offer free wifi, free USB device charging and their restroom was spotless. I had a hanging tailpipe due to hitting the rear end on a high driveway the day before; Mike cinched it up with a tie and told me where to go to get it fixed. I was out of there in 15 minutes. Great service great people great amenities. Highly recommended.

Been given the runaround by these guys for over a year now. Took my daughter's old Volvo in here for a smog. If failed, but if I paid them $650, they could fix it and pass it. Well, then I was told I had to put miles on before they could test it again. So over the next 9 months we ran it, took it in, only to be told the same story - Three times. When we finally had enough miles on it to test, it failed. And you know what they said? They couldn't take responsibility for it and I should take it to a Volvo dealer. So a year later, I'm out of pocket having paid for repairs that didn't work, and a car I can't run. After a second opinion elsewhere I found out they hadn't replaced the O2 sensor - which they charged me for! And that I was overcharged for the work. Would never use these people again, and I'd certainly tell people not to pay them to have any work done there. Feel like I was completely ripped off.

What a delightful surprise for my first time there.
I had the most pleasurable experience getting my smog certification at a warm, friendly and competent auto service facility.
I met Pam, the owner who checked me in and told me there was only one car ahead of me so it would not take long...it didn't...long enough to have a Diet Pepsi watch a little TV and notice how immaculate the entire facility was kept. The waiting room was like being in someone's living room with comfy chairs, wifi, cookies and a refrigerator stocked with complimentary beverages.
This is the kind of place you want to bring your car to for all service needs as they exude trust and confidence in everything they do.

When Larry M gives something five-stars in the SCV, you can bet it's worth all five stars.
I forgot to get my smog check prior to sending off my renewal so when the DMV notified me that they were holding my tags hostage until it was completed, immediately turned to Yelp and the great reviews, including Larry's, had me out the door.
Rolling in shortly after they opened on a Friday, I was helped right away. Forgot my coupon from their website but they had no problem honoring the Yelp discount. The information was entered into their computer and I was offered coffee or soda while I waited.
Fifteen minutes later I was out of DMV jail and on with my day!
Great service, very friendly staff, clean waiting areas and free Wi-Fi all make this short experience even shorter!
I'll certainly be back for future smog tests and will recommend them to others as well!

I took my Porsche in on Sat morning for its smog check. I was quoted a price but was then told I needed to spend $30 more because "they had to take something off" for the smog check. To my shock, I asked why and was told to talk to Sam out in the garage. Now mind you, I've taken my Porsche there before when they were over by the auto spa and was never asked nor charged extra or anything remotely close to that. I spoke with Sam and he said he needed access to the engine and had to take off the cover etc. I said I've never heard of that nor had Porsche ever done that having watching them do it before. Sam and the other guy talked and suddenly, there was no need for the extra $30 charge, which I add, would have been 48% of the total bill. Not sure if they were trying to scam or didn't know or what the story was but I will think about this before I take another car back there.

Such a pleasant experience. Mike was very helpful, friendly, and efficient! Went in on a Sunday shortly after the place opened and I was in and out in less than 20 min. The guest waiting room is super cozy too-- big comfy couch, hot coffee, and cold drinks in the fridge, along with a TV, magazines, and a USB wall connection for charging. :)

"As soon as you walk in you feel welcomed! Everyone is very friendly and helpful. The waiting area is very cozy not like most auto places I've been. There's tons of magazines,t.v., wifi, comfy couches and chairs, and to top it off they have refreshments waiting for you in the mini fridge they have there and coffee freshly brewed. On Saturday I took my car in for an oil change and it didn't go as well as I thought later that night with the oil filter falling off. I called to make a complaint and the owner Mike was very attentive to the situation and very sincere with apologies. I really appreciated the return call after hearing my message I left the previous night. He definitely made me feel very confident in their business still and how they run things. I would still recommend this business to family and friends because all the years I've been going here I've never had any issues till now and they were able to continue being a professional business with their handling of the situation. While traveling down I5, my friend and I experienced a sudden power loss in our car, when heading home to Sacramento. We used Yelp to find a reputable auto repair shop and found Valencia Auto Repair. Though they were very busy, Sam, one of the mechanics, was able to take a look at our car and fix it with minimal cost to ensure we were able to get home. Sam even gave us his card with his cell number and said even if your 4 hours away and you have trouble, call me and I will make sure your taken care of. Being that we were 2 women, alone on the road, this was very comforting. Sam even followed up with a phone call to me to ensure we made it to Sacramento.
That's what I call great customer service and it was truly appreciated. Thank you Sam and thank you Valencia Auto Performance.

Don't go here. A "Fail and we can repair it here" shop. Left with a bad feeling that I got ripped off, overcharged for repairs. Don't be fooled by the waiting room and free drinks, they'll fleece you in other ways! Wonder if DMV knows about their business practices, they are supposed to give you a list of repair facilities. They don't do this, of course, to keep the business in their own shop. A conflict of interests I would say.

Great service all around!
Desperately needed my breaks done, Sam did a great job and it was done at a great price. Let's face it in LA we have to drive everywhere brake checking, so getting my brakes done was a necessity to so say the least. John fit me in with short notice, much appreciated. Equally necessary is checking your tires and we'll I like most women tires didn't cross my mind. Sam Thank you so much for checking my tires and letting me know how badly I needed new tires. I have a 2005 diesel truck and let me tell you that this place has the best diesel mechanic that you can find. I used to always bring the truck to the dealership but then got recommended to this place. They do all kinds of service , not just smog tests. I will never go back to the dealership for my truck. Not only does this Simply Smog have a great diesel mechanic but their prices beat everyone else's also. I also bring my other vehicles here too for service. It's your one stop shop for your cars service. You can't lose by bringing your vehicles here.

I read a bunch of reviews online and most are hit or miss. Simply Smog seemed to have good reviews and a $20 off coupon...why not.
Drove up on a Friday afternoon. I was greeted by the gentleman behind the counter. I had forgotten my DMV registration and he said it was no problem. I checked in on Yelp and received my $20 off coupon which he immediately applied to the bill. I handed him my keys and he said it would take about 15 minutes and that I could wait in the waiting room. I was thinking....15 minutes..yeah right. We all know that means at least a half an hour.
Waiting room was clean and didn't smell. There was one other person waiting so I really couldn't judge if I would be there a long time or not. They had coffee and candy available if I wanted some (I wanted neither. The good candy had been riffled through and I don't drink coffee).
Well.....less than 15 minutes later my car had passed and I'm out the door....one happy camper.

Needed a star smog instead of regular, do not know why, so I came here after looking at reviews on yelp and it was close to AAA where I could get my sticker afterwards.
One of the guys who was in the "garage" said to write down the mileage before going inside, so I did so. Nice guy behind the counter, he reminded me of Steven Colbert who I love to watch. Gave him my registration and he asked me a few questions like if my check engine light was on which it wasn't since I know that it an automatic fail even though the problem may not even be related to emissions. I had left the coupon in the car, but still got the discount which was nice.
Had a seat on a nice couch and the waiting area reminded of a living room with a flat screen tv on the wall and a coffee table. I chose a grape soda form the mini fridge, but really wanted wanted a sprite type of soda instead. AC was great, too since it was so warm outside that day. The guy in front of me called in and the door was closed behind him, uh oh! They failed, so I was getting really anxious by this point, but my car passed, it pays to have AWD. Talk about stressful, I was afraid it wouldn't and would have to go to AAA and pay without getting my sticker.

I've gone to multiple smog shops over the years and have never had a bad experience with the process. Though until now, I had never had a GREAT experience either. These guys were friendly and professional. My car actually failed for a reason they had not seen before, but because they are thorough and willing to go the extra mile, they ran it again and it passed.
The waiting area is immaculate and the refreshments are a welcome bonus to the experience.

I've never written a yelp review before, but this place is just so badass I'm actually going to take the time to write one for them. I've come here for a few different things over the last couple of years, 2 smog checks and some other random things I needed (I got tires here, came to have an oil leak looked at, and also when my doors weren't functioning right). And every single time my experience couldn't have been more positive. Taking care of car stuff is generally an annoying and burdensome chore. But these guys make it a lot easier. Everyone in their staff that I've interacted with has been nothing but friendly, their prices are more than reasonable, their waiting room has free food, free sodas, free coffee, free wifi, a TV and some magazines. Overall, you really can't expect much else from a place you take your car to for maintenance or smog checks or whatever it might be. Overall, these guys are awesome, I highly recommend them.

I started looking for a place to get a smog check. I generally only review food places but I had to do one for this place. I have never been to such a cool smog check place. There is a super cool waiting room. There's a TV, seating and refreshments. All pluses in my book. They have a very friendly staff. I was greeted and attended to quickly. And yes the reviews and ratings are accurate. I couldn't believe a smog check place has such a high rating. Well all I can say is come in and check it out. I also couldn't believe they are open on a holiday weekend. Another plus.

We just moved from Oklahoma to California. So needless to say we "needed" a smog test. We called around lots of places and decided to come here. When we checked in through yelp they had a $20 off coupon. So when I checked out I wanted to use it. The sweet receptionist said there was a better coupon that she would give me that saved me another $30. I could have paid more and walked out with what I thought was a great deal... They would have gotten paid more and I would have still gotten a deal. But she went over and beyond to make her customer happy. You do not get that kind if service very often anymore.

Very satisfied with this place! Their service is friendly, their prices are great, and their assessments are honest. Both when I dropped my car off and picked up, they were super busy, yet I was in and out within a few minutes both times. That they are busy shows they have a reputation for being good, and that they are efficient at getting customers in and out shows that they are professional and organized and understand that we are all pressed for time. The repairs to my car were actually done the same day, which I didn't even expect. I had rented a car for the weekend! And on that note, they are literally next door to an Enterprise Rental, which is SO convenient if your car needs to spend a day or two getting work done. I'll be back to this place for sure for all of my oil changes and any more repairs I need.

Once I find a company that has excellent customer service that is reliable I remain a loyal customer. I would like to give Valencia Auto Performance a good rating since in the past they have treated me fairly and with competitive pricing, until today. We paid to have our daughter's 1996 Ford Ranger serviced before she moved to Washington, they replaced the battery, changed fluids and performed a complete brake replacement of the front and rear brakes, everything was great. Unfortunately she only made it as far as Red Bluff when it started pulling to the right. She pulled over at a rest stop and noticed her truck was leaking as well. In the morning she called AAA and had it towed to a mechanic, who said that one of the front pads must have fallen off because it was metal on metal and the brake line was leaking due to improper reinstallation. She decided to abandon her vehicle and rent a U-Haul. Granted it was an old vehicle and she did not receive any paperwork stating what the mechanic told her so we do not have any back up documentation but I was still concerned enough to contact VAP today to let them know what happened and spoke to Pam. All she said was, "Sorry she didn't make it all the way" and didn't seem alarmed that a vehicle they just worked on had experienced difficulties, she did not show one ounce of compassion or concern at all and treated me like I was being a difficult customer. Because of this response I will be looking for another company to repair and smog our vehicles and will make sure none of my friends take their vehicles or the vehicles of their children there unless they want them to be stranded at a rest stop in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night due to faulty workmanship.

Best smog check in the SCV, with competitive prices too!
On my last smog check (done elsewhere) I stood in an alley watching the guy smog my car. This was after haggling with him over the price of the smog check. He wanted to charge me extra for my mid-sized SUV. I know someone who owns a smog check place in Ventura. Per him, there are no extra costs for them to do this, it was just a money grab. Looking at their Yelp reviews, I was not the only one they put the squeeze on.
Enter Simply Smog. I did not want the hassle. The other place I had gone was $45 for a smog check. Simply Smog was $48 out the door (includes certificate) with the Yelp discount or coupons they always run. So off I went.
There was a wait, with 4 cars ahead of me. This was not a problem. They have a comfortable waiting room in the garage area with free water, sodas and coffee. Not good enough? There is an inside waiting room with big comfy couches and plenty of reading material. Still not good enough? How about the free wi-fi too or the bathrooms that are "checked hourly" to ensure they are clean. As an added bonus, they are open Sunday too.
All in all, these guys run a first class operation. My car passed the smog check. There was no up sell on anything. The people working there were polite and courteous. What more could you want?
This is my second visit in the past several years and it was just as good then.

Went there today after work since they are open until 6 pm. It is pretty easy to find the place right off of Valencia Blvd.
Got there with one person before me and the whole process took 20 minutes which was pretty quick. The shop was clean and they offer free sodas or water while you wait. Use the coupon from their site or tell them you saw it on Yelp and get the $20 off.
I had registered my car and then got the DMV slip back (oops...sorry government...not). They did the job, processed it through so all in all a pretty easy deal. It cost me $40 with the discount, but I'm not quoting prices. They have their prices right up there on the back wall.

I found this place on Yelp/yellow pages and it lived up to all the great reviews. The waiting area is very nice, especially for a garage/smog check station. There is a TV and they offer complimentary beverages while you wait, and my smog check only took about 10 minutes! I never thought I'd be impressed by an auto repair and smog shop but I am! The employees were so nice and the waiting room was amazing! It didn't smell like tires, cars and old coffee like all the other places I have been to. Do not be fooled by the good reviews this place is a rip off artist who does not care about the customer and will do whatever it takes to get your money. simply smog took advantage of my finance and her lack of knowlede, and when I confronted them they had the nerve to tell me their not obligated to tell the customer anything. Well okay maybe their not" legally obligated" but what happened to good old friendly customer service and helping out your fellow american. I recently had my vehicle smog tested at Simply Smog and my experience was great. I have had horrible experiences in the past with several other less than honest shops, so finding an honest shop is a huge plus in my eyes. The ownership of another local shop that I had trusted and used for years had fairly recently changed, and unfortunately, under that new ownership I was given good reason to no longer trust them, so I have been looking for a replacement. The staff at Simply Smog was courteous, fast, professional, straightforward, and provided a very comfortable waiting room with many modern amenities. So far, so good. I may have found the replacement.

I'm not a particularly trusting soul, especially when it comes to car dealers and mechanics. I happened upon Simply Smog after a web search for local air conditioning repair on Google and called Simply Smog (also known as) Valencia Auto Performance). The dilemma: fix our 1997 Saturn's long-broken a/c and continue driving it until it dies, or buy a new car. We really didn't want to have two car loans so I called Simply Smog and spoke to MARK about how much it would cost for a new a/c compressor. He was EXTREMELY honest and said, "It might just be a freon issue." I said another mechanic told us it was the compressor and we just never got it fixed till now. So basically I just told Mark I was willing and ready to spend $750 for a new compressor. I took it in and he said nope, it's not the compressor. Just a freon thing. Our total was much MUCH less than $750. (Don't even get me started about the fact that we suffered with no a/c for three years in Santa Clarita because we thought we'd have to spend $1000 bucks to fix it. I wish I'd found these guys sooner!)
They also gave the car a thorough once-over and, again, could have told me pretty much anything was wrong with the car and I would've believed it (after all, the car has 110K miles on it.) AGAIN, Mark (and SAM, the mechanic who actually did the work) was COMPLETELY HONEST and found very little wrong with the car. I am SO SO HAPPY to have found a shop that I can trust -- if you value integrity, please give these guys your business. Great waiting room, too! FANTASTIC BUSINESS!

I finally found the best smog place!
I was greeted as soon as I got out of my car. Got my mileage. Walked me to their outdoor like living room. Started entering info on the computer. I mentioned yelp to get my $20.00 discount. I asked Pam to register my vehicle with the DMV, and she was happy to do so. I never knew this service even existed. Right away I knew this was a great shop. Everything is clean and organized. lots of informative sign and brochures. I headed into their indoor waiting room because it was a little chilly outside and 2 people ahead of me. Plenty of magazines to choose from. I made a five minute phone call, browsed 1 magazine then went back out anticipating my car was going to be done soon. I Help myself to a free soda. I was told the car passed. I'm just not use to this quick service. I waited longer many times at a dealer just to get a work order written up. Thank you, yelp!

Performing a Smog Test is a fairly standard and simple task. I think what mostly makes Simply Smog popular is its great location on Valencia near all of the major car dealerships.
However, I found that the wait here was very long because it can get very busy. You may want to consider going somewhere else if you don't have one hour or more to wait on your smog test. At least I could read their National Geographic magazine in that time...
In addition to this, when I came back for a re-test on my car--after having failed the smog check--the person refused to re-test my car because he had believed that we simply reset the check-engine light ourselves in order to fool the smog-check. This is after we had in fact taken it to a Smog-Repair place for a diagnosis.
As far as price goes, I found it to be pretty pricey as well. But I used the yelp coupon so I saved 20 dollars--which may still be more expensive than the norm.
In conclusion I think this place is okay.

Went here last weekend to get a smog test for my SUV. I found them online while looking for a smog test shop that was open on Sundays. Also saw and printed the $20 off coupon on the website. In order to sell a car you have to have a smog. I recently had someone commit to buying my car so it was nice that they we re open on Sunday... Mike was the only one there, but he worked pretty efficiently. Since there is only one bay there really isn't much need for another employee... They have water and cold sodas there for you to enjoy while you wait... Over all a quick and expected experience. I'd use them again.

Used to be a great place. Used to take all 3 of my cars there. NEVER AGAIN! I have a newborn baby at home. Went there thinking it would be 15 min. at most like other times but I had to wait over an hour. They didn't tell me how long the wait would be when I handed in the car. When I had to go, the guy there had the nerve to keep my papers and ask if I wanted to pay upfront and get it done tomorrow?!!! Pay upfront? For what?! For waiting for 1hr and getting nothing done? A lot of nerve. No apologies.
I went back and they told me 1/2hr wait! I even had the baby with me! I walked next door to Pacc Auto, they did it for me in 15 min right away. I went back and asked for my papers back. The rude guy now says, "I can do it now!" realizing I'm leaving. I just asked for my papers back. Once again, no apologies or anything to gain my business back.
Pacc Auto did the exact same thing for $24 cheaper without a coupon with excellent service!! Buh-bye Simply Smog. A lesson to every business...customer service is key! Pretty sad because they used to be great.

Can't write a good review. Really can't write a bad...BUT! After what I was quoted to take a look at my car for smog repair, it's either a clear rip off or just the same overpriced car repair service you get in ANY shop. Clearly it pays to shop around. It also helps to give reviews that have an impact for other customers...This shop wanted $160 BEFORE any repairs. If you need SMOG repair..do not go there. I arrived early and they were just setting up for the day. I was greeted by Mike and he began helping me before they were even open. It was a very cold morning and I was guided to the warm waiting room and was offered coffee. The machines weren't cooperating because of the cold but Mike kept me posted every step of the way and shortly after I was on my way with my smog certificate. I think I finally found an honest mechanic with integrity! The guys at Valencia Auto Performance were very upfront with there costs and did not push any additional services that I did not need. WOW! With regards to my previous review of this establishment, I gave this place a one star rating for a very unpleasant experience concerning customer service during my visit for a smog test... however, I feel that it would be quite unfair to penalize the other good people who works here for the actions of one employee so I believe I must give credit where credit is due.. I give 5 stars to Mike Cavanah the owner for being genuinely concerned about his customers.. he writes and responds to the reviews whether it is good or bad, and reaches out to his customers with a positive attitude of how he can make things right. good experience...they have drinks they offer you for free with your smog test while you wait....although 1 complaint i have is that my car failed a smog and they could repair but they recommended a place that was really expensive...and i didn't have the money to fix my problem and when i did..appparently my free test had expired...make sure you know when your retest expires....because they don't give you too much time...which i did not like because i was trying to fix my car to pass smog but just didn't have the money for repairs...they should give you at least 90 days to be able to come back for your retest

I called simply smog to get a quote for a radiator flush and was told 125$ to hook it up to a machine for their (bg cooling system service) which states a powerflush to clean the system. Upon arrival I was told it was 130$ and while watching them they never hooked up any machine, it was drained and filled...no machine or powerflush. When I questioned them about it they said they did hook the machine up to flush it. I stated I watched the whole process from draining to filling to the test drive and no machine was ever used. They then proceed with excuses about why it wasn't hooked up to be (bg flushed) and Sam (with a condescending attitude) shows me an empty bottle of (bg solution) that was used to top off the radiator and states that's all the 130$(bg cooling service) is...a drain and fill not hooked up to a machine to powerflush it even though that's exactly what their display indicates...I paid the 130$ and left...highly doubt I'll be a returning any services again. Baited and switched!!

I have a hard time believing any "they ripped me off" reviews because Valencia Auto Performance has been exceedingly honest with me for all the years we've taken our cars there to be serviced. Sam, Jeremy and Mike have always been totally upfront with what repairs were needed, versus what "could wait."
