I took my '10 Honda Accord to Dylan for some bizarre electrical issues. Dylan was very diligent in working to find the problem. His business model is based on treating customers fairly and being honest. He is looking for a long term customer, not a quick buck. Trust this place. I've since referred family and friends. We won't being going anywhere else for our family vehicles.

Hey Yelp Community,
So I'm new to Ventura, CA (awesome little beach town).
I work a lot out of Santa Barbara, so I'm not too familiar with the local scene, yet.
More importantly, I don't really know what local companies to turn to when something goes wrong, like my car!
Heading back from my job in Santa Barbara, my car breaks down.
The tow truck guy picks me up and gave me the best recommendation for a local Ventura mechanic.
I gotta say, that tow truck guy was so right.
Dylan's Automotive is awesome and for the right reasons.
They are nice, articulate, smart, and most importantly super honest.
They gave me a ride back to my house a couple of time while the car getting fixed.
They gave me discounts on parts.
I even came across a bit of an issue with my car following the initial repair.
No questions, they fixed and gave me a an amazing discount on parts.
They a real people, with a family feel.
It was refreshing to meet a mechanic shop that changed the my entire perspective on mechanic shops.
If you got a car issue and are local in Ventura.
Give Dylan's a shot. They are worth it.
Oh they even squeezed my job in RIGHT BEFORE thanksgiving. They knocked it out fast so I could have my car for the holiday.

I took my car to Dylan to have my clutch replaced, as it started slipping and had a good 90k miles on it. Dylan's quote was a good $100 cheaper than my previous estimate, and I liked the smaller shop, so I gave them a shot.
My car runs like a new car now! I have a manual transmission, so after my clutch was swapped out, the drive-ability difference was night-and-day. They did a great job, I'll be coming back soon for another oil change. Thanks Dylan!

Dylan is very knowledgeable and reliable. I feel totally comfortable leaving my car with him and knowing he will take the best of care. I also know he will always give me an honest evaluation of where my car is at maintainence wise and will prioritize for me what needs to happen immediately and what can wait. Dylan is the most honest mechanic I've met in California, and the only one who's gotten a six hundred dollar signed estimate and then said the work didn't need to be done.
I was referred to him by a friend, and right away he treated me like family. The first time I took my car to him, he diagnosed a cracked head gasket and plugged the leak with stopleak as a temporary measure. He didn't try to talk me into the engine rebuild, or give me any false promises either. He was very sympathetic to my desire to be as frugal as possible with my auto expenses.
When I bought my next car and was told it was due for a timing belt, I knew where to bring it. Dylan explained that his estimate was high because it included ancillary repairs (replacing the water pump, for example) which may or may not be indicated once the timing belt was off. He said he'd rather give a high estimate and knock down the price, than lowball and add a bunch of stuff in later. I also asked him to take a look at a transmission issue. Then he gave me a ride to the coffee shop where I could wait for him to call me. An hour later, he called and said that the timing belt had another year of life in it, and probably wasn't worth doing without assessing the transmission first. So instead of $600 for a job that wasn't urgent, I paid $150 for the tranny repair, which turned out to be much more important.

I came to Dylan by way of the folks I purchased a car from when he was at Jay's. There was no question that I'd follow him to his own place. When you find a mechanic who is good, trustworthy, and downright like-able, you stick with him. Dylan is probably the only mechanic you'll ever meet that tells you NOT to do certain work that others insist upon. It's about the car and the client, not the buck. So glad he kept Adrian as his sidekick, as well. Love these guys!

Over a year ago my driver side window regulator stopped working. Brought my van into Dylan's for repair. Last week the new regulator broke. I rarely drive my van. Only driven around 3000 miles in 18 months. Dylan's repaired the window for no charge even though it was a bit out of warranty....because of the little use the window had. Thank you Dylan's for backing up your work, and parts!! I appreciate that you took the extra step with my vans window issue. You have definitely earned my gratitude, and loyalty!

This is one of the rare automotive mechanics that prides in honest and quality work. I mentioned in a previous review that the mechanic may have made an error and charged me for it, and the owner personally called me to make sure that I didn't have any ill feelings and assured me that if they made an error, they wouldn't pass the bill onto the customer. The phone call won me over because it showed me that the owner really cares about each customer and prides itself in honesty, which is rare in the automotive business. I love how Adrian (one of the mechanics) loves his job, is friendly and very enthusiastic in working with his customers. He goes out of the way in making sure the customer is satisfied and making sure that the job is completed on-time even if it's a last minute job. Thank you for your honesty!
