I'm an older mechanic from years ago, and hardly ever review negatively. I came for a simple smog, it failed. They quoted me an astronomical price, so I had it repaired elsewhere. They told me to bring it back for re test at NO CHARGE. 1st return after my repairs,They sent me away without testing and said I need to reset the codes and drive at least 100miles before retesting, OK. I had another shop clear the monitors (FOR FREE) a simple task, brought it back and I was going to be charged another $40. He refused to honor THE NO CHARGE to retest, he denied saying that. He also said he could of fixed my car cheaper which is another lie based on his original quote. He never remembers who you are even after three visits. He tries to nickel and dime you for every little thing. I finally left in an argument when I refused to hand over another $40 and he threatened me, I will file a report. I'm very mechanically inclined and the only thing I could think of is all the people he has taken advantage of. Found a new great place and I will be happy to (highly) recommend. The new place cheered me up by giving me a "welcome to your new family mechanic "discount.
The past positive reviews for this place are for smog test that have past. its just a machine which takes no intelligence to use the machine. He said he doesn't work for free and wants to be paid like a doctor. I had to place this review and do my part to warn others. I rely on reviews myself and weed through negative reviews which are not warranted. There are too many inconsistencies with this shop. I'm very easy going and not an over complainer. I had to contribute my review my threshold has been reached.

We always take our cars to Trident for smog because of their quick turnaround and reliable service, so we didn't think it was any big deal to take my son's car in the afternoon before he was supposed to head back to San Diego for college. Unfortunately, Trident discovered he had rodent damage to his vehicle that needed immediate repair. Having gone through this with our other cars, I knew it could take up to two days to get it fixed, especially if parts had to be ordered. Since my son needed to leave at 9:00 am the next morning, we were a bit panicked. Trident had the part and put two men on the job to get the car done by the evening. Plus they washed his car inside and out!
They were kind, courteous and fast. A rarity these days. Very impressed.

I was in the area and needed a smog check, did a quick Yelp search and found Trident Smog conveniently located near the car wash, Big O tire and many restaurants.
Took advantage if their $25 Smog Check when you check in!!!! This is such a GREAT deal!
Service was prompt and friendly. They were kind of busy so I made my way to the waiting room. I noticed the service area was very clean and modern but out of all things the bathroom took the cake. Being a car enthusiast and been to one too many auto shops with filthy restrooms. This restroom was honestly nicer than my house. (Check the pictures). This tells me that they take special care and attention to their Customer needs.
I do have one complaint. I wasn't impressed by all the cardinal and gold paint. Then I noticed the subtle USC trash can and it all made sense. Sorry, GO Bruins.
Five star service and a five star yelp.

Came here for a smog check a few days ago. I had a lot of bad experiences previously and was expecting the same when I got here. But that was not the case. Great service, great price, and very quick.

My wife got an estimate for replacement of an air conditioner compressor. The guys said it would be about $1,100 for parts and labor. She called me and I said that was way too high. A quick check of auto parts websites showed the part at about $300-$400. That means the remaining $700-$800 would be labor?! No way.
So I called a local dealer, who I wouldn't expect to be cheaper, and they quoted a price of less than $600 with parts, labor and freon. Nearly half he price! Unbeknownst to me, this place tried to get my wife to come back claiming they found a cheaper part...no kidding...and said they could do it for $750, still almost 20% higher. No thanks.

I have been going to Joe at Trident for about a year now. This is the first time I write a review in Yelp but felt that it was appropriate due to the excellent level of service I have experienced.
I have found that Joe is a very honest, hard-working business-owner and knows how to take care of his clients. His work is timely, reasonably priced, and has always gone above and beyond.
A couple of weeks ago, Joe stayed late to get a last minute part for my car as he knew I really needed it. He really accommodated me due to my situation and schedule and as always, he came through!

Back again with my other car. First visit was back in March of this year. I have been really impressed with this smog center. When it comes to automotive places, you expect dirty waiting rooms and bathrooms...
Not this place.
They have clean restrooms and a nice waiting room. I am writing this updated review from their comfy couches in their air conditioned lounge using their free wifi.
Sip...
Oh, and just made myself a fresh cup of coffee from their Keurig machine.
Don't know if i will have time to finish my coffee though, as was last time, there was no wait and they finished in about 10 to 15 minutes.
This is a place I would be happy to send my wife, knowing the level of service they provide.

Joe and crew have done a great job on my car. I had taken it to another mechanic, who charged me for an AC repair that failed 2 months later. I went to Trident and was quickly shown that my condenser had a hole in it, and any refrigerant added would leak out. Why the other shop did not catch this, I don't know. Joe gave me a great price on an aftermarket condenser and did the repair quickly, finishing under his estimated time and dollars. Thanks Joe, for bringing back the concept of a neighborhood garage with a trustworthy mechanic.

We just moved from the Bay Area when my car's engine light came on. Did I quick search on Yelp and came up with Trident. Joe is fantastic!!! He's honest and very genuine. I had to take the train into work for the first time and he not only drove me there but gave me his number in case I got lost and needed him to talk me through it. We had another issue with the car that came up recently and he couldn't find anything wrong and didn't charge us. They even had the car cleaned and is so accomodating and personable, he's most definitely our "go-to" guy. Really couldn't say enough good things about him.

Fast, honest ,and great service is what you will get when you come to this place.
Also, the price for services are VERY competitive given the inflated prices in Valencia.
I have a BMW and needed to have the brakes done...the dealership wanted to overcharge me (as expected) so i needed to find a shop that could replace the brakes for a reasonable price.
After receiving a coupon for a service discount, I gave this place a try.
I arrived first thing in the morning and was greeted by Joe who was fast to get my car in for service. I was told it was going to be a few hours to complete the brake job, which was good considering other cars were already in the garage..
when deciding on brake pad preference, I felt I wasn't being oversold on something I didn't need and Joe was really just trying to let me know that the more expensive brakes that were comparable to BMW brake pads were worth the money to avoid returning sooner than I had to.
When I picked my car up, the process was quick and easy and I was thanked for my business.
I definitely will be returning this this place for any other brake jobs or auto repairs I need in the future!!

Went in for a smog check for my 2005 Bmw. Smog passed and was done very fast. I have a driving light that was out and the dealer wanted $1800 to replace the Xeon complete assembly which did not need to be replaced. I had the light fixed at trident and air filter for over $1500 less. They quoted me 1.5 hours to complete and it was done in 1 hour. Great service for a fair price. I can't ask for better experience. I will be back for sure. Thanks again!!

I came here with my car after getting an estimate at Simply Smog to get a second opinion because they quoted replacing a fan on my engine at $460 and I thought they might be taking me for a ride. So I took my car here and now my whole car is up and running for cheaper than I would have gotten at Simply Smog. Had no clue the owner changed, but since I came to this location before and had good experience, decided to give another shot.
Came here last October for smog check. Decided to just drive in without checking, but no one was there at the time. They got my car in right away. Of course, at this time, my car decided to show check engine light, which turned out to be a pressure issue with transmission. Didn't pass.
At least Yelp had coupon for massive discount. Guy working actually reminded me if I had coupon, in which he directed me to the Yelp. That was nice gesture.
He was very careful with my car driving it in & out and placing the test equipments. I was very impressed. Will be back for future checks.

Best car mechanic business I have ever used. They have a comfortable lounge with an HDTV and Netflix. They also offer free sodas too. Overall I found myself hanging out there longer than I expected because I started watching season 4 of breaking bad. Lol
Also unlike most mechanic shops, the bathroom isn't some disgusting greasy hole. It's actually really nice and clean. Better than my own bathroom. Lol
The smog check only took 10 minutes without an appointment and they helped me right away.
I will be going back here for all my future smogs and car maintenance. I highly recommend this place if you want a super convenient and comfortable service.

I typically hate going to auto repair shops since I'm personally not an auto expert and always fear that I'm going to get ripped off...not to mention that auto shops can be pretty weird places...but my experience was awesome here! Joe is an outstanding Diagnostician. They do fantastic work at reasonable prices. They worked on our Lincoln LS which has an intermittent stall, and a hard shift problem. Three other shops had worked on it including the dealer and after spending thousands of dollars we had lost hope and decided to sell the car. This is the best auto repair shop in Santa Clarita. I went for a smog and found they actually do auto repair as well. I took advantage of their $49.99 AC special and also had my fluids changed and brakes done. They use OEM parts and charge a lot less than what the dealer was charging me. I also liked their waiting room. It was air conditioned, very clean and confortable, and I even had coffee and Arrowhead water. When they were done with my car, they even got it washed. I'm a customer for life.

I took my car in for smog and some repairs and as usual Joe took great care of me. Joe is the most honest mechanic. I have used him for years and will never let anyone else touch my car. He will let us know if something can wait or should be done now. His prices are very reasonable also. We are thrilled that he has opened his own shop. When we were looking to buy a used car for our son, we brought one we were looking at to Joe. Thank goodness we did. It turns out it had been badly damaged and repaired. He helped us find a great used car that we still feel good. Their location is very clean, with a quiet and comfortable waiting room, but they will give you a ride home if you like.
