I am new in town. My tire kept going flat for months and I finally took it in. I am very lucky this place is in my neighborhood and I took my car here. They helped me with the best choice for my tire. They were very nice, honest and reasonably priced. Very nice staff and I will definitely come back in a heartbeat. Couldn't recommend them more.

I wanted to update this..When I took my car in last year it was having trouble starting. After keeping my car for 2 days I was sent home with nothing more than a new battery and sure enough after a few weeks I was having the same problem again.
Though I don't think 4th street was trying to rip me off, I can't understand how they had my car for 2 days and all they did was change the battery. I eventually took it to a different shop where they were able to diagnose the problem within 2 hours and I had my car back on the same day.
I brought it in on a Saturday, so it seems obvious now that they were probably way too busy to even look at my car and just pushed it off until Monday. Which is pretty messed up because I was without the car for 3 days and was also charged an overnight fee.

Stopped by here as I was with my girlfriend and she had a nail in her front tire.
Read all the reviews and she had been here before. Always tough being a girl and picking an auto place to take your car to cause you never know who you can trust.
Art is the owner and it seemed like everyone knew him by name. Such a friendly man and even though he was so busy, he was great.
He talked us through and had the car taken into the bay. We were in and out of there like nothing.
It's so refreshing to be able to know who can help and not try to haggle or rake you cause you're not an expert.
He sells tires and has great deals and like I said, it seemed like he has loyal customers and that's got to be because he's so knowledgeable and loyal to them which is rare.

Had to tow my 2002 pt cruiser into this place after it shut off randomly in the middle of Broadway. Not the best start to a week but luckily 4th Street was close by. the guys here are so nice and genuine and I really felt comfortable and confident that they knew what they were doing. My boyfriend and I just moved from that westside, so finding a trusty place where we can take our aging honda fit for oil changes & maintenance was impairative. It took me a while to find my guys on the Westside so I anticipated it might be a process until I found a good place out in Long Beach as well. I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this place first for an oil change then when they had changed our oil called me letting me know break pads needed to be replaced. At the time I told them just to do the oil change (so I could do my homework making sure the quote they gave for the break pads parts & labor was fair.) Turns out is was. When they replaced the pads, I received a call from Jake telling me the roaders had a lot of hot spots and he reccommended that we replace them. I checked out the quote he gave me & was pleasantly surprised to find the prices were again fair. They also switched out our break lights when we noticed one was out. Super personable guys. They seem swamped so if you need things done here, I recommend calling them first. Thanks Jake & Art for taking care of our car & for being honest dudes. We'll be back!

This placed is awesome. Art (owner) gave me a quote and then found a less expensive way to get the job done. Now, in this world, in this time and space, greed seems to be the norm, most people would pocket that extra money, after all, I already agreed to pay $451. All said and done, he got my car done a day earlier than expected and I was out the door for a total of $321. That's $130 cheaper than I agreed to. Dude. They got me for life. Seriously? That honesty. Rare man. I'm a little blown away. Haha....

Greatest deal so far on oil change. They rotate your tires, check all fuel injecters, 22 point inspect with oil change. Great customer service, great attitude, and worth every penny. I like the fact that they give you every little problem that is wrong with your vehicle to prevent from any further damage. Very reliable shop. To top it off great deal on new tires, got a year warranty, got the 4 tires last year, and running strong.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! If I could give 4th Street Auto & the manager Art LESS than a 1 star I would!! As a loyal patron returning to this shop for almost 2 years out of local convenience, I just recieved the most TERRIBLE Customer Service from both Art & Jacob!!! Just plain rude, inconsiderate & unprofessional! I've worked in Hospitality for over 15 years and I've never seen a lil ol dingy auto shop treat a returning customer this way. It shouldn't matter if a customer only visits for minor upkeep maintenance/repairs or decides to get a 2nd opinion when you WAY OVERPRICE A QUOTE BY $400. Don't try to take advantage of a woman, then get mad when she stands up for herself. Every customer should be treated with respect, be courteous of their time and value their repeat business! I will never recommend or visit this dump again!

Went in for an oil change, a week later we discovered the oil drain plug was leaking tons of oil.
The dealership determined these guys never bothered to put in a new crush washer for the drain plug.
To make things worse, where they did remove the skid plate they never replaced all the screws, 2 screws and 3 clips were missing when we had to re do the oil change less than a month later.
Stay far away from these hacks.

I have been taking by car here for 6 years. I have always received excellent service by the front desk. I have been loaned me car so I could get to work. I did have a minor problem with a flap hitting my wheel once. Even though it was minutes from closing I called and they waited about 30 minutes to take care of the problem.
I have a 2004 Elantra over 2000 miles, they keep my card running. I am quite happy with the service I get here.

I was looking for a new place to take my car. I was feeling my last mechanic was charging me a bit much for unnecessary things. Then I found 4th Street Auto. I felt 4th Street was VERY FAIR! They guys seemed on top of it and seemed very honest. Prices were great. They even offered me a free water and wifi why I waited too. When I had another problem with my car that was a bit more complex, they had an awesome loaner car so I was not without transportation.
About a month after I took my car in I got a good old fashioned hand written thank you note. Im not sure if they do this for everyone, or if its only if you get certain services done or pay a certain amount, but WOW... talk about old school appreciation... it was like taking my car to the old service stations my father used to go.

What a deal buy 2 tires get 2 tires free (on select tires only), but still what a great steal if you are in need!!! The owner Art is a very nice gentlemen who really cares about being his neighborhood go to for certain types of auto repair and tires! He is very friendly and makes sure you are comfortable while waiting for you car. In his waiting room he sometimes plays movies to help pass the time while you wait. He is truly a nice and caring guy so to anyone who is in the 4th street area definitely take your car to him! For all the people who are in the surrounding areas it's worth the extra 5-10 minute drive to get the service you need!

Awesome service!! Been coming to this place going on 4yrs!!! HORRIBLE!! BEWARE!! Took my car in for a bent rim, I hit something on the freeway that caused it to bend pretty bad. They said they would get me a new one and to come back later that afternoon. The next couple days the car wasn't running the same, took it back they test drove it and said what I needed was an alignment. Went ahead and paid for that but didnt feel a change in the cars performance. Then noticed that the tire kept going flat. Took it to a different tire store to purchase a new tire and they showed me what was wrong. I had a bent rim! They never replaced it, they charged me for a rim and in addition convinced me that I needed an alignment!!
Went back to confront them. Art, the manager basically took responsibility for it. They put a new rim on and I watched as they put it on to make sure it was new. I asked for the reimbursement of the alignment that I never needed. He gave me back my money and then asked me to please never come back..really?? Like I would..LOL! The front desk assistant manager John then proceeded to tell the mechanic to give "the chick" back her keys. BEWARE formally TIRE TRAX different name same crooks.

I use to come to this place all the time when I had my old car. Not sure what has happen in the last year but this place is terrible now. I came for a simple tire patch and it took 3 hours, I told them I had to be somewhere by a certain time and they completely disregarded what I said. Then when I call the guy on the phone is completely rude about everything. I will never ever bring my car here for anything ever again, nor will I recommend anyone like I use too.

The service location is very service oriented. The front desk gentleman, Art does an excellent job in representing the company. He was successful with waiting on me while a potentially new customer who needed his car worked on. Art saw by the gentleman's body language - he was in a hurry. He only wanted to know what time the business closed during the Christmas Holidays. He replied to him with his answer and went a step further by asking him, what specifically did he need to have done to his vehicle? He gave him the reply and the man who was in a hurry did receive the information and confirmed his answer. He was happy and obviously proceeded to his appointment. And, on the other hand I had a flat tire and he reassured me - he would have me out of the his service area in 20 minutes in order for me to get to work on time. This is the rainy day and I had given myself 2 hours to get to work when it typically takes 45 minutes to drive to work and with the flat tire, it would be really tight to get to my employment on time in Orange County. I must say, I did get to work on time and was very happy with the customer service I received and the observation of the customer service he gave another hurried customer too. Don't go here!

First they told me they had my size tires then when they went to put them on they didn't so they had to give me 2 different size tires. After they were finished they told me one of my rims was bent but they went ahead and put a new tire on it anyways (there not supposed to do that) and when I went somewhere else to get the rim fixed I was told the tires were over filled! they were supposed to be at 30 psi and they were at 45!!! they could have exploded or something..

We love coming to 4th St Auto! My husband and I have been bringing our cars here for years. They take great care of our vehicles and are honest about what needs to be fixed and when. It's clear that they are looking out for our safety and not just trying to make a buck, like some other mechanic shops. For example I went in for an oil change this week and they let me know I needed some additional work done but have me an honest timeline of when it MUST be done by to maintain safety, instead of trying to pressure me to do it all now. I brought my car for "check engine" problem. They said something was wrong with the exhaust, fuel and muffler such that my car would not pass smog test at the time.
