I came to Foreign Autohaus a month ago with a minor light bulb malfunction on my BMW, Jason came out and helped resolve the issue in few minutes at no cost, which saved me ~$140 (the fee they'd charge) to diagnose such electrical malfunction.
Few weeks ago I came in regarding a supposed trunk malfunction (only opened manually with a key), which they offered to diagnose as well; when their tech came to look at my car, instead of troubleshooting the problem I came to resolve, he offered to replace other parts.
I wish they knew that in these cars there's a valet button in the glove compartment which turns the trunk on & off; apparently I accidentally turned it off and after searching online, found the solution and fixed the problem myself. I expected better expertise from BMW specialists and don't appreciate being sold services I don't need.

Hands down the best mechanic I have ever had! Rafael, the owner really knows his stuff and is always eager to help and share his knowledge with you. They treat my car as if it is their own. I own a 2004 BMW M3 and from day ONE of ownership I have brought it to Foreign Autohaus and never looked back. The staff at Autohaus are very professional and helpful and the technicians are amazing and really know their stuff. I had my front brake pads on my BMW 5Series replaced before Christmas and noticed over the next several days that the car was shaking and pulling to the right when the brakes were applied. I called in the afternoon on Monday and Nico got me scheduled for service the next morning. A faulty rotor was found; they completely replaced the rotors, brake pads and sensors--- the complete service repeated at no charge, since it was all under warranty.
Foreign Autohaus is a reliable, trustworthy and so convenient. I'm a fan!

Been there three times and every time was better than the last. Chris was eager to help and was knowledgeable about my particular issues and when he did not know he pulled a technician from the back to better understand. (Having a fair bit of knowledge myself) they don't shaft you and charge you for made up work or something that's an easy fix. Fair price too for the difficult labor they have to do as well. Audi dealership was $160 and coming her was much cheaper but the level of professionalism did not drop the slightest. Would recommend this place to anyone. Give it a try and if it's not phenomenal let them know and I'm certain they will try to make it right.

Took my car in for a engine light on, $1600 I get the car back lights off car runs terrible, take it back they state I have moisture getting in a cylinder and its going to be a minimum of $2800. Took the car to a different place. They found a cracked hose. $40 part and $40 service. Car has run great ever since. Get a 2nd opinion and take a open check book!

I took my car to Foreign Auto Haus for several years. Rafael is very nice and all that. They do over charge and they charge some people more than others. I got fed up when I realized that when I went in for an issue they would string it out with unnecessary tasks. For example: my check engine light went on that the code said that there was something wrong with the catalytic converter. They suggested replacing the sensor at a cost of $700 plus so that we could find out if we needed to replace the catalytic converters which would cost an additional $2000 for each converter and of course they recommended replacing both of them. That is when I'd had enough. A year later and I went someplace else and replaced one of my catalytic converters for $1200.

My VW broke down on the way back from Tahoe and I had it towed here on a Sunday. They fixed it (fuel pump relay) by the next afternoon for what seemed to be a reasonable price. The 15% Yelp discount helped. The owner seemed unaware that it was even available but was genial about it. They suggested I replace my battery too but were upfront about it not being a requirement for me to get home and I declined.

It seemed nice, at first, that the owner reached out and offered a brake inspection, even if I didn't need it. But the end result of his numbers were that his shop charges $795 for my 2008 BMW X5 and even if he would like to think Niello was going to charge me something else, at the end of the day they quoted me $712. Much less...even if still high. He proceed to try and insult my by saying I did not understand OEM parts, insulting my knowledge of BMW, and insulting the "shop" he supposedly trained even if he has no idea which shop I am referring to. It is disappointing that on my first call your employee gave me the higher price because he even clarified that my vehicle was 2008. Are you considering this older or newer? I can assure you that the shop I have used in the past uses OEM parts as well. They are a very well respected shop working on BMW and Porsche vehicles.
I don't need a brake inspection because I know that I need rear brakes. The front was just done by my husband a couple of months ago. I am considering having him do the rear as well. I can order the OEM parts online for much cheaper.

I am not upset about it, I just think your prices are inflated. I understand what you are doing. If you consider my vehicle Newer than you admit you would charge $795. My advisor Chris at Niello quoted $712 plain and simple. You are over dealer prices.
Please do not insult my intelligence. I know what OEM factory parts are and there are many online/private companies that get and sell the same parts at a much less markup. I can also buy them from Niello (over priced) and other auto shops in the area.
On the contrary, lower prices does not make them worse, it makes them generous. Their ratings back up their service. You could take a lesson perhaps.
I think it is safe to say we have reached the end of this conversation. Thanks for trying to challenge my review but it sounds like we are right back where we started and that is your prices are higher than the dealer.

From my X5, my 530i to even my old Land Rover 90, Raf and his team were able to diagnose, repair and go above and beyond on my requests. The repairs were done on time, on budget and they were even able to accommodate me with a loaner car - that's unheard of. Some might say that it's all about plugging in the newer cars to the diagnostic equipment and replacing parts, but that's definitely not the case with the Land Rover from the UK. I had shops turn me away, try to gouge me on price or were simply too scared to take on the project. Bring in your most exotic work, they can handle it.

BMW repairs are already expensive so no one wants to pay more than necessary. These guys serviced our BMW 750 last year and this year recommended services that were already up to date. Didn't look up our account and would have likely done the repairs if we hadn't been diligent and compared the estimate to last year. Questionable methods... Nico and the staff treated me/us like royalty. Great experience. They took great care of the 'Benz old car that has over 200K miles and only wanted to get it running right to last a little longer and they did exactly what we asked for and took pride in their work. They explained everything that was repaired and answered questions. There is no upselling or nonsense here just straight forward realistic and it shows from their results. Rafael, the owner, called me after reading my review. He apologized for the service and offered to reimburse me for the brake pads or have a free oil change. He seemed sincere and determined about getting his shop do things right. I was willing to give him another shot but then I realized I'm happy with my current mechanic. So to prospective customers, If you have doubts, talk to Rafael, he seems like a customer oriented guy who will make things right.
So scoring wise: When I got my car serviced 1 star. Owner trying to make things right 5 stars. Average between the 2 experiences 3 stars.

Totally saved the day!!! These guys are my heroes! I am a car enthusiast and enjoy working on my own cars. I ended up breaking a bolt to my BMW e46 transmission pan during a fluid change I was performing. This was the only place around that could/would help me (including BMW roseville and a slew of parts stores). What an amazing experience! Last week I was driving from San Francisco to Lake Tahoe when my car started to act funny. We were able to find Foreign Autohaus and thankfully the owner Rafael was still around at 7 PM on a Friday night. As the car was not drivable and needed to be looked at on Monday, Rafael was so generous and provide myself and 3 of my friends with a car for the weekend! We were able to enjoy our trip to Tahoe and make it safely there. On Monday, his staff contacted me immediately and were able to look at my car first thing. We will be forever grateful for his generosity and service.

i take all my cars here great work very professional they have a really clean workshop you can eat off there marble floors. yes there workshop has white marble floors. the owner is not jumping around like a little bunny when his talking to you. but he knows his stuff and gets it done right the first time. prices are not high you get what you pay for. nothing is cheaper then expensive I've taken my car to different mechanics for the same problem other then the dealer foreign autohaus is the only person that fixed it right thank you guys!

I have used this shop for 5 years on my Range Rovers and my wifes Acura and have to say Rafeal is as good as you can find on this Planet when it comes to car knowledge. Prices are fair and sometimes better than that. He bought and replaced 3 sets of brake pads from BMW that squeaked and did not charge me a nickel. I do not normally write reviews but I had to after reading someone who had not used the place rate it...They need to get a life.

I took my 2005 BMW 325CI in to have some parts replaced on a Friday with no appointment, they were able to get me in their schedule, took me to my job, and even picked me up once my vehicle was finished. I was only charged for 1/2 an hour of labor instead of one hour, they smoked my engine to find the leaks, no charge, usually that is a charged procedure I think. I had a budget to work within, and Rafael, and Tim, made sure I was within my budget. Everything I wanted completed on my vehicle was done correctly. My car is running so much better now. I saw the bad reviews below, I have had bad experiences at Walmart, that doesnt mean I will never shop at Walmart again. Do your research on your vehicle so you at least have an idea of whats going on, and what you should anticipate being charged for. My experience IS worthy of 5 STARS!! I will recommend these guys to anyone I know.

I can't say I think they do anything intentionally wrong - I just think they lost the best mechanics at some point because the last several things I had cars in for they ended up with "no real idea" why that is happening - after having the car 3 days - really?

We've taken our Audi TT in a few times for major repairs. Our timing belt went the week before we planned to have it replaced, causing major damage. They completed the work satisfactorily, but the rates here are definitely inflated compared to the other independent European shops we've been to. We've been in a couple times since then for other issues, and we always feel like you can't be sure if they're selling you on stuff you don't need and at higher than normal rates. We've decided we're just uncomfortable going back and are on the lookout for another shop closer than Davis.

I don't write reviews much, in fact I never do, but after my experience with Foreign Autohaus, I felt inclined to Yelp. My wife and her family have been coming to FA for years and swear by the service. When I recently came in to do a brake job on wife's Mercedes I felt the great customer service that my family spoke about. The service guys are highly trained professionals that have mastered all European cars. When I asked them about what vehicle I should buy my family next they gave me recommendations based on my family needs and the most dependable cars not the cars that would cause mechanical issues and bring them in business. The owner, Rafael is awesome. An extremely genuine owner, I felt like I had been talking to one of my friends I've known for years. He makes you feel at home and does not try to capitalize off you. Let's be honest if you are taking your car to a European mechanics than you're probably driving an expensive luxury car that aren't cheap to fix, but I will say his prices are fair. He understands car troubles is stressful enough and tries to alleviate your problems. I know that I will continue my families tradition of taking my cars to Foreign Autohaus. An awesome experience. Highly recommend.

DISHONEST COMPANY
I took my Lexus to Foreign Autohaus to have my brakes checked. While sitting in the lobby waiting for my car I could see that they put my car lift to inspect the brakes. I watched the mechanic inspect the car by using a flashlight to look at something near each tire, then he manually spun each tire. It took all of 10mins for him to make the assessment that my back brakes had only 2mm of wear left, my front brakes had 5mm of wear left, and that I needed new rotors both in the back and front. My first red flag was they did not pull the tires off the vehicle to inspect the brakes, and the second red flag was the large fee that they said the repairs would cost. The car is 6 years old and this is not our first time having to pay for brakes so I new the fee was inflated. Needless to say, I took the car else where for inspection where they pulled the tires off, and showed me that the back brakes had 5-6 mm of wear left and NOT 2 as they told me, and my rotors were fine and did not need replaced.
On a side note, I was uncomfortable with their assessment and wanted a second opinion and when I went to leave Foreign Autohaus without getting the repairs done, they told me I only had 200miles left of brakes and to be careful. Lastly, when I questioned why I needed new rotors, and the service managers response was, "if my mechanic said you need new rotors than there is a reason for it." They are dishonest and use scare tactics.

I'm not sure where my last review went so I wanted to write another as we just had my sons VW Jetta worked on. We have had ALL of our cars taken care of by Foreign Autohause since we first used them about 2 years ago. They are excellent. Not sure why there could even be a bad review on here. We have a 2004 BMW 530i, a 2004 Toyota Sequoia as well. My son broke down the other night in his car. I had the car towed to Foreign Autohase and everything looked at. Rafeal personally came out and told us everything that was going on, what needed to be fixed ASAP and what could wait a few months as my son was paying for the repairs himself and needed to space it out. My son learned a valuable lesson on auto care that day. Rafeal also has been very helpful in the search for a car for our daughter. On a few occasions we took him a car we were considering and he looked over the vehicle and told us whether it was a good buy or had any issues we should be aware of. Rafeal is a straight shooter and I think I've come to realize some may not like that by reading their reviews. But he will not dance around the issues that need to be dealt with I have found. Personally, I would rather have a mechanic that cares enough about my safety and my families to tell me like it is rather than blow smoke to make me feel better. I highly recommend this shop. I will continue to use them for our service without hesitation.

So for over a year my air conditioning on the drivers side has blown about 20 degrees warmer then the passenger side and rear air. I was told by at least 4 different shops it was a blend door on the drivers side not opening and would be a very expensive fix, so I've suffered thru the hot summer here last year. Turns out it was just the freon that was low. I can not thank u enough for ur knowledge and expertise!!! Foreign Autohaus of EDH has won my business and I would highly recommend them!!!

Autohaus replaced the head on my BMW 525i. They used non OEM parts, an AMC head and a Victor-Reinz gasket, both known to be inferior, just Google it. The gasket failed in two years. The shop in Auburn where I had the head replaced again (with OEM parts) said Autohaus didn't even install both alignment studs in the block, which may have contributed to early failure. And the cost was no less at Autohaus with the non-OEM parts. I will never go back to Autohaus.

They are a little expensive but there aren't many other options, especially options close to Folsom area. I recently had my A3 serviced here and they seem to have done a much better job at diagnosing and repairing a mysterious leak that another place couldn't fix in two tries.
