Today my fianc and I had our car (2004 VW) serviced at Varga. We chose this shop because we needed an issue dealt with quickly, it was one of the first Google search results and it's only 4 miles away from our house. When calling to schedule the appointment, Frank, the shop owner (I believe) was incredibly friendly, helpful, and was able to get us an appointment for the very next morning. The service required was to have an aftermarket pipe swapped out for the original component of the cars exhaust.
Upon arrival, the shop was in a safe looking neighborhood and was very clean inside. Friendly Frank greeted my fianc at the desk and promptly got the car into the service bay, which was also clean relative to most other auto repair shops. The mechanic that did the install (younger guy) was pretty friendly as well. Once the work was completed, the mechanic brought the car around and Frank rang my fianc out, even giving him a 10% military discount (much appreciated!).
Once the car was started, the Check Engine Light (CEL) came on. My fianc pointed this out to the mechanic, who ran some diagnostic tests and said that one of the O2 sensors was faulty. Since the car only has 20k miles on it, and there was never a CEL before, the mechanic basically admitted that he could have disrupted the proper functioning of the sensor when he was swapping the parts out. He said to drive the car a bit to see if the light goes off.
My fianc took the car to a local VW dealership (see review for Reydel VW) for a quick second opinion. They agreed that the work accomplished in the morning most likely was the cause of the O2 sensor failure. My fianc wrote a message to Frank through their website and Frank responded very quickly.. Even though it was after hours! Frank agreed to install a new O2 sensor for us at no charge. Talk about customer service.
I would recommend anyone with exhaust issues to use Varga on Joyce Kilmer and deal directly with Frank. I will be sure to update my review once the new sensor is installed and the CEL is gone! We'll be cruising in our VW in no time!

Brought my car in for repairs after it broke down in April. The radiator was overheating and needed to be replaced, but I didn't know it at the time. They made a bunch of other repairs to my engine that added up to about $1400 and 6 months later my car broke down again the exact same way it did before. Another auto center said that it was the radiator and on top of that, one of the hoses that the guys at Varga charged me to replace needed to be replaced again because it was a botched up job.
Another time they quoted a repair for my brake lines to be almost double of what I got them repaired for else where.
Bottom line, repairs are overpriced and temporary.

Frank Varga is kind, patient, and super experienced! He took my car for a test ride with me and talked me through what he was noticing. Free diagnostics, honest assessment, no pressure to buy a service. I learned a lot about my trans from him in just a few minutes. His shop can fix transmissions before they completely break for (sometimes much) less than the cost of the transmission, so I'm trying to catch the problem before I need to replace the whole thing.
