I cannot rave about this place enough! I created a Yelp account just to write this review. I had the most stressful time with my car last week and Dave's Valley Auto Clinic got me in last minute to fix my problem. They gave me a first time customer $25 off coupon and the customer service with every employee I spoke to was outstanding (Eric and Brandon) . I will recommend this company to all my friends and family. They are exactly what you would look for in a mechanic, trustworthy and fair pricing! Keep up the great work.

Not too many places will turn you away when they have a chance to make a few bucks.
Brandon was very polite in all my dealings, and I can't recall the names of the shop guys but the mechanic and the transmission guy took time out of their day to explain why they felt it would be a bad idea to dump money into transmission on my son's Taurus.
So, yes, it was frustrating at first to be told that it wasn't worth doing the few fixes I'd read about (fluid & filter swap). But after talking with them and getting the details, I had to agree. :/
Very nice folks. Very knowledgeable. Easy to work with.

More details:
My sons car is an older Taurus that has seen better days. It's a fairly worn out engine that probably needs a good overhaul to get it back to its former glory. (worn rings, etc...)
I swapped out plugs and changed out a AC compressor pully. That stopped the awful rrrRRRrrrRRRrrr... noise and gave it back some power, but it was still having issues shifting. So I limped it over to Dave's to get diagnosed.
They had to cleaned up a connector to even get it to connect to their diagnostics. They did a test drive and it was shifting, but a little rough from time to time. They came to the conclusion that the only thing that would make it 100% again would be a full rebuild.
For a car that barely hits 2K on KBB, it's not worth the man hours to yank the thing out and rebuild it.
So, yeah, I was a little frustrated that there isn't much to be done to prolong the life of the tranny... However, it was pretty cool of them to let me know all their impressions to prevent me from spending more than what the car is worth to have a bulletproof tranny, when in all likelihood the engine will probably give out before he'd even get the miles on the rebuilt tranny.

So it's kind of hard to give a perfect 5 star service at an auto shop, but these guys did pretty close. Price was what I'm normally used to spending for an oil change so no complaints there. He was even able to quote me a decent time and honor the time frame.
I may or may not go back just due to the distance from home, but it was a good place if you live near by.

Fantastic customer service. I had to drop off my car a couple days before my appointment due to travel. They called me the next day - a full 3 days before my scheduled appointment - to let me know they were able to diagnose the problem early. I have to give a HUGE ENDORSEMENT and SHOUT OUT to Dave's Valley Auto Clinic and their whole staff. Walker's Renton Mazda told me that I needed to REPLACE my transmission and quoted the repairs at $5200 ! I just could NOT see putting that much $ into my 2005 Mazda (that will ultimately become the next kid's car.) I called around for other estimates and then remembered my classmate Cheryl and her husband Dave's shop in Auburn. Brandon was patient and honest in answering my questions and agreed to look at my car. He later called me with one of the most HONEST answers I could have ever heard from a mechanic. I only needed to replace some sensor(s) and perhaps my thermostat, but I DID NOT need a new Transmission. I played over and over in my head how many times the Mazda dealership told me that my only option was a new Transmission. Nothing was ever said about "sensors" until I contacted Dave's Valley Auto and their staff. WOW. Their honesty and integrity just earned them a customer for life. I will never deal with a dealership on my car again !!! Truly, trust your cars to Dave's !!

I was told that it would be $469 to fix a part on my car, including the diagnostic, but I decided not to do it. I paid the $100 for the diagnostic and then found the part for $80 (Dave's valley auto would have charged $150, I did the math). Then, a friend of mine installed it in the span of 15 minutes. This means that it would have cost me $219 for fifteen minutes worth of work. NO WAY. I could not believe this. You seemed like nice men, but you were totally ripping me off. I am NOT a fan.
Update: below is Dave's response stating that I requested additional services, which is odd, because I distinctly remember saying "I only want the bottom two brake lights fixed". I did NOT request the additional service. You assumed that and ignored what I actually said.

I took my car in to be diagnosed and was told that the fee would be about $100 for that service and it would take about an hour and a half. In a half an hour I got the results of the testing. The bad news was that I needed a new motor and that mine was going to blow at any moment. The good news is that they didn't charge me for the service. I know the bad news wasn't their fault but the incredible service and hospitality was.
If I need work done in the future, they earned my business.

I brought a 25 year old car into them that was given to us. I just wanted to see if it could run and pass smog. The things that was wrong with it was a bad battery, oil needed changing, alternator was bad, the battery cables were so corroded that they needed to be replace, they found a few broken lights and a few fuses needed to be replaced. They also hooked it up to a smog to test it and it passed so I felt comfortable having them do the repairs. The total was $520. Very friendly, they did the work in less then a day and I now have a running second vehicle!

I needed some help with my F250 V10 truck and decided to read yelp for tips on who to take it to. I read all the great comments here in this thread and decided to go to Dave's. I talked to Brandon and he said that they could look at it right away. They could have tried to sell me a whole new spark plug coil set and new plugs but they didn't, they found the bad plug and replaced it and now the truck runs great. I also had a door lock mechanism that I hadn't got around to replacing yet. I asked if they could just install it for me and they did in less than an hour. It probably would have taken me a whole day to do. Great place.

I haven't actually taken a car here, but I still have an excellent review. I was looking to buy a car online and when I contacted the owner of a car I was interested in, he informed he that the car was being serviced at Dave's and gave me the contact info.
I called up and Dave personally answered the phone. I explained the situation and although there was no benefit to Dave (and took up his valuable time), he made the effort to explain to me everything that he had done to the car and his opinion as to the overall state of the vehicle. He even offered to take a closer look now that he knew it was for sale and took my contact info in case he found something.
I even called back later with an additional question and again he was patient enough to address my concerns. Now, when he took this car on, he wasn't expecting to basically preform a buyers inspection in addition, but he did so for me and it was very much appreciated.
He spoke in such an honest and straight forward manner, there was no b.s. or sugar coating, which as a young women I appreciated (its hard to find a mechanic that doesn't talk to you like a three year old). If I do run into any car problems, you better believe I'm bringing it to Dave.

We've been customers at Dave's Valley Auto Clinic for over 11 years because we believe it to be the best auto mechanic shop around the area. Dave has taken superb care of our vehicles and when we need repairs or service the job is always done right the first time. We have never had to take our car back for a second look after he has done repairs. Dave also offers a service loaner which has come in handy several times for our family not having an extra vehicle. More importantly Dave is honest, down to earth, and fair with pricing. We all hate spending money on service and repairs and Dave has always gone out of his way to make sure we have options when it comes to repairs so we can make an informed choice on what is best. He will tell you when you can wait or if the service or repair needs to be done then.
Also, we unfortunately have a vehicle prone to problems and whenever we call Dave he will offer up suggestions to help us out and always willing to get us in for a check regardless of how busy he is.
Just recently we needed our front license plate holder replaced due to damage and we didn't have the ability to install it because it was riveted onto the bumper. We called Dave and he told us to stop by and he would have his mechanic install it for us. This is a great example of Dave always willing to help with anything, even a license plate holder because he is superior at customer service, generous and committed to his customer base.

Before I tell you how great this shop is I want to say that I am a Retired Air Force Master Sergeant and an Initiated Free Mason and if you belong to either then you know I speak the truth.
I made the mistake of purchasing a vehicle from a auto repair shop in Southeast Auburn. I took the owner/mechanic's word for its condition,after all he owned it and repaired it so it had to be good, he said it was :-) Anyway, this vehicle turned out to be the vehicle from hell, posessed and with troubles that would baffle the best of mechanics. I won't bore you with a real long story but I want all my brother military personnel and Free Masons brothers to know that I recommend this shop. They are customer oriented and although they are a bit spendy, you kind of get what you pay for. When you check in your vehicle you will be serviced by Brandon. Treat him well as they don't come any better. Good for you Dave's we need more shops like your's. You have all my future business.

I brought my 7.3 powerstroke diesel in for an inspection/evaluation. I listed an entire page of concerns and the mechanic personally explained to me all of the root causes and solutions. He took pictures and wrote a detailed report. They did not try to sell me an unneeded service for any problems since nothing is critical. I'm a mechanical engineer with a background in automotive work and I can tell you that these guys know what they are doing and did a very thorough job.

So I'm not from the area and happened to have some car trouble. Googled auto shops near where I broke down and happened upon Dave's. First off they told me I had a blown head gasket and it would run me $2500.00. I have never met a more honest and straight forward person than Brandon.In February the transmission blew up in my deceased fathers car. The car has a lot of sentimental value because my father gifted it to me prior to his death from bladder cancer. When I turned it into the dealer they wanted $5000.00 to replace that and a broken steering column. I was besides myself because the cost to repair the car was half of what it was worth! My father babied that car and no other dealer touched it but them but they tried to write me off because the warranty expired! My heart was broken because I felt like I had failed to keep up with something my father cherished. With no other place to ask I came into Dave's Valley and talked with Brandon. Wow! He set me straight instead of taking my money he guided me on who to call, what I should do and how I should make the company fix it. If it wasn't for him I would have never know what to do and would have junked a 2010 car. And he was right with continued escalation I had the company fix it and reimburse me $1200.00! Brandon's honesty and excellent customer service has gained him a customer for life! I now have had my daughters used truck fixed and it is running amazing, my friends car fixed, and I will continue to refer anyone I know to Dave's Valley! Thank You!

I contacted Dave's Valley Auto Clinic when I was shopping for a used F250. What attracted me to contacting them over other mechanics was the other positive reviews I read; and let me tell you, they are high rated for a reason. When I first called them I had found a used truck at a small dealership not far from them but I was skeptical of the dealership itself. The mechanic I spoke with talked to me for almost 20 minutes about the style of truck I was looking to buy and the associated problems that came with them. Most importantly when I asked the mechanic about the dealership I was looking at, he warned me about some of the vehicles that had come from there and really suggested I look elsewhere based on their track record. I can't tell you how glad I am he did that. About a week later I found my dream truck at a different dealership and had them bring the truck over to Dave's for a pre buyer inspection. These guys did a great job really inspecting the truck and giving me an accurate review of the truck, making me feel good about the expensive purchase I was making. I highly recommend Dave's Valley Auto Clinic. These guys are professional, and extremely polite and helpful. I would recommend this shop for anyone with a diesel truck or anyone looking to buy a diesel truck. These folks sure know how to look out for their customers. This is the best shop I've found in Washington.
