I've been really happy with the service that I've recieved at Surry North. Thy guy who runs the place is really friendly, and willing to drive you to work nearby if you need it. He does a really good job of explaining exactly what the problem is, and I've never felt like I was being tricked for cheated.
I highly recommend Surry North if you are looking for a capable, fair, and not-over-charging shop on the East Side.

I was expecting a 150 diagnosis of my smog issue and got a 347 bill. I appreciate what's in store for me later and how much money I'll need to fix it. I just didn't ask for anything above 150$ , caught off guard. However that might have been my fault and really should've made sure it was made clear no more than $150 for the smog waiver. But they already did the work and not going to short someone when they did the work. . I will say the diagnosis was thorough and I appreciated the quick service. After thinking about my review I revised it and really I thought the star rating was a tad low. I've taken this same car in to 2 places in the past 4 months and have spent so far around $1600 and then find out I have to spend another $1300 to get a different issue fixed. Not this shops fault but it's frustrating to spend money on this car again so soon and it's not 100% I feel the other shop that did the original work messed up something, just my gut feeling. I have no way of proving that. The gal at the smog test station said she never has seen it go over $150 for a waiver. Usually just indicates further diagnosis needed which sounds logical. The shop worked on it for 3 hours and they deserve to get paid for that 3 hours. So I won't be asking for any type of refund. Just make sure you make it clear to the mechanic or shop what're wanting and how much you are able to spend on a diagnostic. I don't give 4 or 5 stars very often. FYI.

I have brought a couple vehicles here for repair and have been very pleases with the quality of work and especially Bruce, the owners honesty. I never feel like I am being pushed into a repair that does not need to happen. Bruce on a few occasions has steered me away from making a repair because there was still life left in the part that would eventually need to be replaced, just not at that time -- you most likely wouldn't find that from a dealership! I highly recommend Surrey North and will continue to use and refer their services.

Found this place by asking around after my car started overheating due to a blown hose. What a great place! I found them to be very kind, helpful and honest. It didn't take long before I was on my way again. Bruce and Dan were awesome! I'll be sure to come back if I ever need work done again.

Surrey North has always been fair and honest and has completed the work in a timely manner. I've worked with Bruce the owner three or four times with two different vehicles. I recently had a full exhaust system replacement including the manifold on my 96 Honda Accord. When I called around to other highly rated local auto repair shops, I found his quotes to be spot on as expected. Also, since he was quoting me over the phone, he made sure to give me worst-case scenarios rather than the best case/cheapest scenario just to get me into the shop. I definitely appreciate that rather than the common upsell call from the shop once you're in. And having a few other things wrong with my car, he helped me prioritize my repairs with regard to safety and budget. Overall, an honest, friendly and knowledgeable shop. I highly recommend!

This place is horrible. A place to rip you off easily. we went there for a problem, he fixed othr things and the car still stops. When we went back he is telling us he doesn't know what is wrong and he wants to keep the car for couple days and try to diagnose the problem but will not fix it. I am sure the 400 he charged us will never bring him luck!!!! (I hope it brings him a horrible things)

I use Surrey North for both my cars and my work also uses them for all the trucks. Bruce is very honest will not have you fix things that are not needed and will give you options. I can make my appointments and always know he will get it done or call me way ahead of time so I can make arrangements. His pricing is always fair. I can always depend on his workmanship. I would not take my cars anywhere else.
