What a great shop and group of mechanics! Very honest and knowledgeable. Just moved here from the east coast and needed brakes. The Honda dealer wanted to charge me $349 and these folks did it for $189. They also diagnosed a problem my last mechanic completely missed involving my left control arm and then hooked me up with the shop next door to get it fixed at a great price. Can't say enough good things about the staff. They'll have me as a loyal customer for life.

I needed my back caliper replaced so I went to 2 other shops before finding breaks for less. And the estimates I got at the other places were +500. Les Shwab wanted to charge me 630 and they said I needed both rear breaks fixed, even though only one side needed. Anyway when I went to breaks for less they fixed my back break plus more for 245. Price is ok but what I really appreciated was their honesty. I'll definitely be a returning customer.

These guys are classic old school mechanics. The paperwork is just that - paperwork.
They took care of me and I was in & out quick.
These guys are real mechanics and talked with me about several other issues outside of their area with very helpful advice.

Yelp comes through, once again...
Nothing but honest people at this shop. I come in for my appointment and get greeter by the older gentleman right away. He starts writing up my intake form, and he asks one of his workers to turn on cartoons for my daughter in the break room. Bonus points.
So we're watching TV for about 20-30 minutes and a mechanic lets me know they're all done. No brake pad change needed, just some dust on the discs that was causing the screeching sound. Mind you, I called in ASKING to have my brake pads replaced, and they were honest enough to let me know I had about 60% left on my pads. When it's time to finally do the work, I will most definitely be coming back here. This place has earned my business.

These guys just saved me $500 on my brakes. Bucky's told me $750 these guys said, "Nah, they aren't even that bad, it'll be $249!!" How refreshing to find such honesty and integrity. Bucky's just lost a loyal customer and Brakes for Less just gained one. Thanks, guys.

Consider this a ten star rating! I called several other shops for quotes and Brakes For Less provided the lowest quote and had the best rating on Yelp. Now I know why. These guys are honest, fast and stand behind their work. If you need new brakes, don't hesitate to get them here.

These guys were recommend to me. They are awesome. We didn't need anything done. They were honest and wonderful and I would strongly recommend them. I felt very at ease and they explained everything to me nicely and even fixed a tiny wire for me. I am so thankful I found an awesome place like this.

Great service coupled with incredible customer service. If you are looking for a place to have your vehicles brakes looked at this is the place. I saved $300 plus on a quote from Firestone. I will be back.

Tom and his crew are great! I bought two used vans and brought them in to have the brakes and fluid checked and flushed if necessary, and both vans were in and out promptly with only one needing to be flushed for less than $100! I currently own six work vehicles so it is nice to find a shop that is efficient and fair.

These guys are doing it right. I made an appointment after my car started making a terrible noise when I hit the brakes. Of course, the noise disappeared on appointment day. Still, these guys took my brakes apart, checked everything out, and said it all looked good. They said the noise might not be coming from the brakes, but if/when it comes back I should return so they can listen and try to diagnose the problem. How much did I pay? $0

I had grinding on my rear brakes for months and I never did anything about it. I wanted to go to Brakes For Less based on the reviews on here, but was stubborn to wait this long. I went to Meineke to see what they would charge, and they said it would be $800! They said I needed new calipers and all this extra stuff. I knew I finally had to get my brakes done and finally come to BFL where I should have in the first place.
The hype is real. Great, personable, people that tell you exactly what to expect and for a great price. After replacing the rear brakes (not just pads) the cost of labor and parts came to $285! I was so excited to get such a great deal and get my brakes back. Definitely recommend.

Incredible customer service!! We came by unannounced when my brakes made a very ugly squeal today. They got my Honda minivan in immediately and showed me and my three little boys to the waiting room where there was a TV with PBS kids to watch (score!!!). The guy came and showed me the almost completely worn off brake pad and said they needed replacing. It took them only about an hour and a half, and very reasonable cost (about $200), and then we were safely back on the road. Awesome experience, I would very highly recommend Brakes for Less!!!!

Brakes For Less went above and beyond when I brought in my Honda SUV. The customer service blew me away from the minute I walked in the door until I left. I know very little about cars, but I felt I was treated respectfully and honestly. Our family will definitely be return customers. I'm so glad I found them and the great reviews here on Yelp!

This place is the best! I recommend this place to everybody. They're honest, friendly, hard working people!
I was told by other place that my car had a leaking rear wheel cylinder problem. They said there is no signs of leakage, and he showed me where the rear cylinders were. He told me I still have 75% of front and rear brakes left, and my car is fine. He asked me to come back next year. Now, I have peace of mind. I tried to offer him $20 for his time, but he wouldn't take it. He said it's against the company policy!

My good friend told me about this business. I had brake problems and stupidly went to Les Schwabb first. What a mistake. Took them 45 minutes just to check my brakes and they weren't even busy. I go here they got right on it, figured out what I needed and Immediately the owner himself, went to get the parts I needed and installed them and I was on my way. No messing around and they were friendly to boot. I will always go here when I have any brake issues.
Go here you won't be disappointed and their prices are very reasonable.

After reading the swarm of positive reviews, we decided to give this place a shot. An hour after my appointment and a meager amount of money later, we drove on out of there.

I took my daughter's Subaru there because she just bought the car and I was worried that the brakes may have been in trouble. However, they checked them out and said she had 90% left in the front and 80% available in the rear. Pretty amazing. Fast turnaround and they were incredibly personable. When it is time to get her brakes fixed, or mine, I am going back to Brakes For Less.

Thank you guys!! My brakes "went out" saturday evening in a smoky, stinky mess and I drove around in a panicked haze trying to find some place to help. Les Schwab was closed, Jiffy Lube "couldn't" help because it was only an hour until closing, but they told me in dire tones I certainly shouldn't be driving the car. Another Jiffy location didn't do brakes at all so I was screwed. They did however tell me to try Firestone the next day (since they're the only ones open on Sunday!), so I did.
I got there first thing and they spent two hours to tell me that they couldn't help until they got parts in but that it would cost $800 because all sorts of pieces of my car were ruined. I shouldn't be driving, they said.
I told them I would take my chances, drive home, and try somewhere more local to my house the next day. On a recommendation from a coworker I tried Brakes for Less first thing Monday morning. They got me in IMMEDIATELy and I was in and out in less then 40 minutes. GUESS WHAT! There was nothing wrong with the car! It was just user error! Since my friend had been driving my sleepy ass home, he'd just not put the parking brake 100% off and it had overheated. Since there was no permanent damage, NOTHING had to be done! Brakes for Less let me go at no cost and my car is fine!
Either Firestone is INCOMPETENT or they're staffed with liars, but I'm never going there again! I'll definitely be seeing the nice dudes at Brakes in the future!

Tom (the shop's owner) is super friendly and he sure knows brakes! I brought my car in because I felt the steering wheel vibrate when I would apply the brakes going downhill. Tom was able to provide a diagnosis with a very reasonable quote and my brakes were fixed in an hour and a half. They do have Wi-Fi which is a plus as I was able to get work done while I waited. Tom was very kind to let me know that I still had 35% wear remaining on my rear brakes and recommended that I come back in 8 months to get those worked on. I will put that on my calendar!

I am writing a review for this shop because they took great care of me when I was having some braking issues. I first took my car to have it looked at because my brakes weren't performing properly. They were very quick to give me a diagnosis on what I needed and the gentleman showed me a diagram of the process that helped me understand more about what I was buying. After the work was completed there was a mis- communication on my end for what I wanted done and they ended up doing more work on my truck than what I had intended for. Most shops would have taken my car back apart and sent me on my way, but Brakes For Less honored their mistake and didn't charge me for the extra work that had been done. I thought that this was way beyond the call of duty and very noble that they did this for me, which is why I felt so compelled to write this review. I definitely recommend Brakes For Less to anyone that is looking for a hard working honest shop to have brake work done at. These guys do great work and are very reasonably priced and stand by their products and services. I will continue to use Brakes For Less and refer anyone to them as well!

I have to say, this place is THE place to get your brakes done. I ended up saving over $100 off the quote I had received elsewhere. Tom, the owner, was really informative and kept me aware of what was going on throughout my whole appointment. There was not one extra charge on my bill above and beyond what he originally quoted me besides the tax - not like the other places where they end up tacking on $50 of shop/environmental fees.
The place is a little rough around the edges and the waiting room could use an overhaul, but I appreciate that they had a TV with cable to watch while I waited the 2 hours for my car.
I will definitely be back next time I need brakes and will recommend this place to everyone I know!

Just an update. After having my rear brake pads replaced back in July 2013, they started to grind when coming to a stop. I brought the car back to have them checked. They were inspected and cleaned because there was a lot of rust and dust inside the drums. They were good for another month, then the grinding came back. This time (7 months after initial install) the brake pads were replaced with a different manufactures. All this work was performed FREE under the shop's warrantee. While it is no fun making appointments to deal with this type of issue - I will say that my car was serviced exactly on my appointment time. I never waited more than 30 minutes to have their evaluation completed. Awesome service - great guys. Small shop standing behind their work. Give um a try.

I am not a fan of mechanics. I am convinced their job on earth is to make you buy more shit and useless stuff then you really need. When I noticed my brakes were wearing pretty good I took them by two popular chains that I will keep unnamed. So when I looked at my handy Yelp App I discovered this place and what a discovery it was.
I was quoted over $400 at two different places for an issue that was unnecessary. When I came to Brakes For Less they basically confirmed I didn't need all the work these two other places were telling me. I was worked on right away and within 40 minutes my brakes were fixed and bill was less then $130. I am writing this review over 6 months after the repair and my brakes are working just fine. I encourage anyone to make the trip to get their opinion before paying too much for brake repair at any other place. I will always come back to this place if I need brake repair.
Tip : Mention Yelp for a little discount and if you are hungry there is a great pizza/pasta place a block away (Spartas)

These guys are awesome!!!! The friendliest auto shop ever. Great on the phone and even better in person. Honest and fast!!! I took my '06 Dodge Magnum in and they could have easy told me I needed new everything. Instead Tom told me what I could replace now and what I could wait on. Which being a few days before Xmas is a HUGE help!!!!! He even have me a ride home while my car was being worked on. I will never, ever take my cars anywhere else for any brake related repair. Their shop was even clean and tidy. I love these guys. Thanks Tom and crew!!!!!!!

Very happy with my experience. I was told it would cost me six hundred dollars to have my brakes fixed by a big chain automotive shop and living on a tight budget that wasn't an option. I brought my truck in and had It fixed for a fraction of the price. An hour and a half later and only $216.00 my problem was solved. I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off or taken advantage because of my lack of knowledge. It was good old fashioned great customer service and I will return for any of my brake needs on any of my vehicles.

We went here because of the reviews on Yelp when our car needed brake repairs. Les Schwab quoted us $1000... Brakes 4 Less quoted half that.

I had a problem with my parking brake that two other auto repair shops couldn't diagnose and fix so after reading the reviews here I gave Brakes 4 Less a call... and I'm glad I did.
The last shop said I needed new brakes all around and quoted me over $1k... ouch. I had these guys take a look and they discovered the issue was just debris and buildup in the caliper and after some cleaning and lubing, it was like new again. They also said I still had 50% remaining on both the front and rear brakes so nothing was needed for at least the next year. They also checked the air in all my tires and did some cleaning under the hood all in about 30 minutes. The cost? NOTHING!
Tom, the owner of the shop, explained what they did to fix things and just said to check in again next year and I definitely will. As other reviewers have said, these are super nice guys who don't try to find things to charge you for and work honestly and with integrity. They've won a customer for life from my family.

I used to drive to Bellevue from Shoreline and back for work. During one of my commutes, my car sounded funny, like metal on metal, but it was while I was driving, so I didn't think it was the brakes. My fiance took my car into Les Schwab, and they confirmed it was the brakes, but they were trying to tell us that it was more than just the brakes that needed replaced.
Having doubts, we contacted Brakes For Less. We had taken another car in to get brakes and felt they did a good job. I made an appointment and brought the car in. They greeted me with smiles and assured me that they would get to the bottom of it. They, too, confirmed that it was the brakes, but that's it. They charged me exactly what they quoted AND LESS than Les Schwab. I felt confident and secure when I left.
I'd definitely recommend Brakes For Less to any and everyone!
Thanks Guys!

These guys are amazing. In an industry where you expect to get ripped off, Brakes 4 Less reestablished my faith in the honesty of automotive workers. Brian was extremely friendly and courteous on the phone and even though I accidentally showed up 30 minutes early (they open at 8:30 on Saturdays), they were already there and able to start checking out my car!
After the initial inspection, they said I still had 50% left on my front brakes, something they COULD have said needed replacing as I wouldn't have second guessed them. The only thing I ended up needing was some work on the back brakes costing me about $150. Every other place quoted much higher. These guys are highly recommended!
Edit on 11/14/2012: Dropping a star because I just found out that these guys are no longer open on weekends, which is a disappointment as I work the hours they are open and dropping off the car, then having my wife drive me to work on the Eastside is an inconvenience. I'll still take our vehicles here because of the substantial savings but it's going to be a much bigger pain to arrange. I love the service but PLEASE BRING BACK THE SATURDAY HOURS!
Edit on 01/04/2013: I just received a message from the owner, Tom. He says they are working on bringing back the Saturday hours. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Edit on 08/19/2013: And Saturday hours are back. Yay!

I recently had service on my wifes car here because the ABS regulator failed at 178k miles. (these are very expensive) and these guys remove and replaced it with an authentic NISSAN part in a timely manner and were very polite and professional. If you need some brake work done I would recommend these guys over Les Schwab, which is where I have had brakes done in the past and it was VERY expensive and one of the bolts came loose after just 2 days and gouged my BRAND NEW rotor, which should have been replaced but wasn't. The salesman at Les Schwab had an unpleasant attitude and looked like he would rather be at home with a bong in one hand and an X-Box controller in the other. Brakes for Less is the place to go if you need brakes, just read the other reviews and it will be obvious.

I desperatley needed new brakes for my car, and after asking around everyone told me NOT to go to my dealer because what they quoted me was way too much. Instead, I got on Yelp and did a little research and after reading the reviews for Brakes 4 Less, I am so grateful I did not end up going through my dealership. Brakes 4 Less got me in and out the same day and I paid half the amount my dealer wanted to charge me.
The man I dropped my car off with was the owner (I believe his name is Tom) and he could not have been nicer. I felt good about leaving my car with him and I am so happy with my decision to get my car serviced here. Seriously, trust all the other reviews, and when you need brakes do yourself a favor and take your car here. I am confident you will have a good experience as well.

Dealership quoted me $310 for front brakes. Told them I could get it done cheaper elsewhere. "OK," they said. I found Brakes For Less through Yelp, they had good reviews, so I took it there. $175, tax and all. Not the fanciest place for sure. If you think a Cadillac dealership's waiting room is a "bare minimum," you won't like this place. But they seem to do good work, and they told me what else my car needed, and why, without being pushy. Best of all, it was about half what the dealership quoted me. Good work, Brakes for Less!

Same story as the rest. I went to a reputable NW Tire company that rhymes with Nes Whab and they quoted me on my 01 Outback for rear brakes and rotors $550. I called Brakes for Less after seeing the reviews here and they quoted my $279.95. Over 1/3 less! Now I am big on quality over cheap but they showed me they use OE (Original Equipment) supplies so it would be the same parts if you were to get them done at a dealership. My appointment was at 3:00pm and they were done at 4:10pm. They even did a thorough drive inspection to tell me about something to look out for in the future and to monitor. PLUS I got a 20k 2 year warranty so that matches the other place too! This is the only place I'm coming back to for brakes, THE ONLY PLACE!

After I was quoted $350 for a front brake job at a popular tire chain I took my car to Brakes for Less. They confirmed that the front brakes needed replacing and did it for only $165 for factory parts and even resurfaced my rotors.
I referred a coworker after he was told that both his front and back brakes needed replacing by his mechanic. The folks at Brakes for Less took a look and told him that he had at least another year on his current pads.
The front brakes on my other car have been squeaking for quite some time and I just took it in today for what I was sure would be a major brake job. The guys took a peek and told me that I had 50% on both the front and the back brakes, but that they were badly out of adjustment. They cleaned things up and made the proper adjustments. Then they shocked me by not charging me a thing! My brakes no longer squeak and I was assured that I have at least a year left on the pads.
I'm telling everyone I know about this place. Not only are they cheap, but they're also friendly, honest and do quality work.

Before you get new brakes STOP!!!!!! Call and get a quote from Brian at BRAKES FOR LESS. You will be a very happy camper. Let me give you a brief explanation why. Last week I had my tires rotated on my Passat. I was told by the service guy at one of the major tire retailers.....you know who......that I needed new rear brakes. His quote was 499.00 worse case meaning new rotors. Now with that aggressive of a quote I guarantee I would have needed new rotors.....right? So I don't buy this quote and start shopping. I call the dealer and get it down to 349.00 worse case. Then I stumble onto BRAKES FRO LESS on the search engine. I call and get a quote of 179.00 from a guy named Brian....period. I took it in and he did it same the day. He called later to tell me he had miss quoted me....here it comes.....it really is 159.00!!!!! Geeeeeze. They was able to turn my rotors back to specs. In times where greed seems to be where things start.....here is a group of guys who are straight shooters and do great work. The brakes are perfect and so is BRAKES FOR LESS. They don't have a lobby to sit in or a fancy front end but who cares. To go anywhere else is just throwing away money. Thank you Brian and BRAKES FOR LESS. You saved me over 200.00 bucks.

This place was dishonest and unethical, and treated us poorly. They lied about parts availability (not a good idea when anyone with a smartphone can prove you wrong). They would not allow me into the shop to see the problems they say needed fixed on my car. When I confronted the "owner" at the desk, she told me it is her business and that she will run it the way she wants to. Well, go ahead, run it that way. I will never be back, and anyone who asks me will not either.

Tom and Jane have taken care of my vehicles for the last 8 years! The way they earned and continue to earn my business is their honest, ethical, and affordable service. My very first interaction with their service was for a second opinion after another mechanic told me I needed a new batery and alternator. I didn't need either and Tom's sent me on way after cleaning and tightening my battery connections free of charge. Since then, they have taken great care of my '96 Maxima, '99 Passat, '08 impreza, '05 Touareg. I've referred them to family who have all had service done there including my parents, brother, sister, grandma, aunt, co-workers, and a couple friends. All give good reviews, all saved money over other quotes they were given for work, and some saved hundreds of dollars on work that was falsely recommended elsewhere.

Tom's B & M Auto is such a reliable and trustworthy place. If you're looking for a place to take your car, I would highly recommend them. I have taken my vehicles to Tom for probably 15 years, before they were in the location they are now in. Super service. Super honest.

What a great place! Such great service and caring people. They gave me such a fantastic price for all the great work they did, my old Camry runs beautifully, stopped making weird noises, and I'm confident about my cross country road trip in it now! Thanks so much!

Great honest mechanics! These guys know what they are doing and on top of that they are a pleasure to work with. They are very fair with their pricing and will not charge you for work that is unnecessary. They helped me with numerous buyers checks and with their help I finally found the car I was looking for. I will definitely be back to do business with them again and highly recommend their service. Thanks for the help!!

One of the most important aspects of car repair for me and the 4 cars I am responsible for is having someone I can trust. You know what I mean, someone who is not just interested in how deep they can dig into my wallet. That trust is the foundation of any working relationship and I trust Tom and his Wife Jane who own and operate Tom's B &M Auto. I trust what they tell me is the truth and I would highly recommend Tom's to anyone who needs a trustworthy and experienced mechanic

We recently bought a toyota through Auto Direct. Scott is very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions with honest feedback. The transaction to purchase our car was very smooth as well. We did not feel the high pressure sales pitch that we have experienced so many times with the "larger" auto dealers. We highly recommend Scott!

My Mom took her car there, and they did good work - actually charged her a bit less than they estimated. I was very impressed and thought we'd found an "honest mechanic". We then took our car there and it was a bit of a different story. We told them the airbag light was on, they said they'd look at it. Then they called and said they didn't have right instrument to read the error code and so wouldn't do it. The things they did fix were "ok" - I had to bring it back for more attention on the sticky accelerator (an inconvenience). But what really concerned me was the way they misled (or lied to?) me. They said they had a set of shocks for my car at a nearby supplier - but they didn't. I wanted Redline synthetic lubricant in my gearbox, they recommended I not use synthetic, so I listened. Then they put synthetic in but didn't tell me (until later) so I didn't get the brand I wanted. I could go on - it was very disappointing to find that I couldn't really trust them, so the search for the "honest mechanic" is still on. This is less important, but when I got the car back the steering wheel and inside panels were all greasy. They lack the attention to detail that nicer shops have.
