I brought my 2006 Volkswagen GTI MK5 in with a DSG Transmission that was on it's way out after 94,500 miles on it. The stealership quoted me at $4,000-$6,000(not including labor) for a refurbished transmission, so I went to Cherry Hill Transmission for a 2nd opinion.
Tom initially claimed he could do it for around $1,000, he initially thought he could just open up the transmission and replace the bad part. However, I later got a call from him informing me that he found out VW didn't make replacement parts and he'd have to drop a whole new transmission in(the same thing the stealership told me). Tom claimed he could do the whole job for $3,550(labor included).
While he made good on his word with the price, it took him 3 weeks to track down a replacement DSG transmission for my car. But, to be fair, the DSG transmission, or (Volkswagens in general for that matter), are not the easiest cars to work on. Over the course of 3 weeks, he found a couple of transmissions, but when he received them, they were burned out, and he sent them back to find a better one. So he gets points for being thorough and keeping me periodically updated on my car's status.. After 3 weeks, he finally found a decent transmission, dropped it in, and when he picked it up, the car drove like a dream.
Only gripe I had was that I felt a little blind-sided about how long and drawn-out this repair was going to be. Luckily I was able to get to school and work by the PATCO High-Speedline. Still, he did a bang up job on my car. I'd use again.

Bait and switch predator shop.
I took my Ford Bronco to this shop for a slipping tranny, to have an estimate done. I made it clear that the truck was old and if it were going to cost too much I'd just junk it or sell it for parts. The estimate came back at $600- I thought "Fantastic" and approved the work.
Of course, just as I feared, after a week, Tom called back to say it would be more. Almost DOUBLE his original estimate. I reminded him that I wasnt willing to spend a lot to fix it and that he assured me that the $600 estimate was accurate and the only reason I approved the repair.
I said forget it, give it back. He said he's already done significant work and would not release the truck to me unless I paid him the $600 for the work he had done already.
I actually had to call the Police. They said he could not hold my truck for ransom.
This man/shop is not honest. Don't believe his estimates. Go anywhere else.
EDIT 4/15/13 - You do know this person, but then honesty was never your strong suit now was it? I have the receipts and the letter I made you sign before signing over my truck to you which I'd be happy to provide potential customers.

Awful! My fianc dropped his truck off on a Friday morning due to a rattling sound, was expecting to hear from them that night but didn't. Okay no big deal, he figured they would call Saturday. I came home from work at 12:30 Saturday and he still hadn't heard from them. So we called and there was no answer because they were CLOSED. And closed all day Sunday! Thanks for the heads up! You are lucky I was able to give him a ride to the train so he could get to work but he had to lug his bike so he could get his truck after work! Now that is horrible customer service. However, they did send us a thank you card in the mail. Unfortunately, that's not enough to get our business ever again. They fixed the problem but if you need your car within the next couple days, don't go there.

Nice work

I was having problems with my car and these guys happened to be the closest shop. As my luck would have it, it worked out great. The work I had done on my car was perfect and the prices didn't leave me feeling like I had been robbed. …

Very Satisified - Great Price - Fast Repair - Very Informative

I had been noticing problems with the transmission in my truck for some time and eventually it stopped shifting past second. I started calling around for quotes and Amoco's worst case quote was twice, as much as Cherry Hill Transmission…

A Client For Life

Pulled up in the lot was told what was wrong with my car and they ran test. Of course, I had my car taken to a couple of other places but Mr. Tom and his staff were completely honest with me. He explained the parts I needed and the cost…

I have only wonderful things to say about Tom and Frank at Cherry Hill Transmission. Like most people (I think!), I spent very little time thinking about my car's transmission...until there is a problem. And when there is a problem, its a big one. So i found myself with a massive problem (clutch was shot, car was nearly un-driveable) limping into Cherry Hill Transmission. They quickly diagnosed the problem and then Tom spent almost an hour on the phone calling different places to get quotes on parts -- and this was all before I had agreed to have them do the work. Ultimately the parts and labor cost about $300 less than the other quote that I got and I went with Cherry Hill Transmission. The repair work was done in a timely fashion (they said 7 days, car was ready on the 8th day). Approximately 2 weeks later I had a problem with the manual shift linkage and brought the car back. They covered the work to repair the shift linkage within 24 hours, deemed it work covered under their warranty, and did not charge me anything. There were a number of occasions where a less scrupulous repair center could have taken advantage of me, but Tom and Frank were fair and direct. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

Worst place a person can ever take their vehicle to. Tom is a thief. This guy will basically damage your engine/Trans and will keep on damaging your vehicle just so he can take your money. This is not a honest "company."

Also a warning. Transmission was supposedly rebuilt by Cherry Hill Transmission on 6/21/ 12. Problem with hard shifting still exsists .Returned car 4 times, same results, different excusses each time. Kept car from 3 to 8 days. Manager lied about everything,or would not give me information as to how they would remedy problem. Took car to have transmission scanned at another center. They said problem is in trans, called P1189 long shift. Took car back to Cherry Hill Trans on 5/6/13. Would not let manager near car, requested another transmission Tech, to use scanner, and test drive. Scan showed problem to be P1189 long shift. He drove car, acknowledged auto trans bangs when shifting gears. Same problem as before 6/21/12. Shop owner Joe,wants me to to leave car again for a few days, so his men can drive it around,What? Joe is nothing but BS. He seems to think he can convince you of anything. When I brought car back each time, they refused to acknowledge it on my 12 month or 12,000 mi guarantee,or even extend guarantee. I'm now in touch with NJ Division of Consumer Affairs. I like the other gentlemans feeling, will not lay down and be beat for $1792.25. Dennis Cann Sr. Cherry Hill NJ

I could not be happier with how they treated me and my Toyota Highlander. After my mechanic told me it was a transmission issue(that they don't do) they gave me three people to contact. AAmco, Cherry Hill Transmission and my Toyota dealer. The other two shops gave me a quote of over $3,000.00 and could not guarantee that they would stay with in that number. Cherry Hill Transmission gave me a quote of under $2,000.00 and said the would be under that most likely. It's running better then ever and I'm looking to another 250,000 miles from my Toyota. They worked on one of my kids cars 3 years ago and it still runs great.Don't waste your money or your time ,call these good people there.Feel free to contact me...I'm that satisfied.Joe Maro
