Had the best experience here. I needed my brakes and shocks replaced, and I was quoted a low price and was met with wonderful customer service. I got my car back only a few hours after turning it over to them, and they even picked me up from my home so I could get my car back. I highly recommend this place and will definitely return next time I need car help!

Really nice mechanics, everyone seemed friendly. Shop charged me 60 though to put my car up on the lift and take the tire off and put it back on! Quoted me $520 to replace one wheel bearing and put the brake pads and rotor on that I brought with me. Seems like a nice enough place but only if you have money to waste! I'm actually extremely pissed that I just spent $60 for literally NOTHING. And side note, I really appreciate the attitude I received when I questioned why it was so much money for 30 minutes of work. Not saying the mechanic didn't deserve to get paid, he was friendly and helpful and completely deserving, but I mean really?!
(Just to be clear, no repairs we're done, only the wheel removed and no pen was thrown but nice to see the owner responds to a bad review with a lie! I was given a quote three times the price the mechanic down the street said he would fix it for and when I was given the printed copy of the quote he told me to look it over and take my time making the decision. Seems to me that a "professional business" should address certain areas and people that are greatly lacking in the image they would like people to view them in instead of refusing accountability for events. And to be clear the response to this review was given by the only rude person there so it's easy to disregard, I would be angry waking up like that every day too! Sure glad I don't ever have to deal with that woman again! )

I broke down in Flagstaff in April after driving a new-to-me car across the country. Flagstaff Auto agreed to look at my car that day when other places wouldn't- it was a Friday. It needed major repairs that would take at least one week. The whole ordeal was very upsetting but I got some of the best customer service. They helped me get to a rental car place, estimate was almost spot on, and they were very responsive when I called. They do a lot of repairs for out-of-towners who are passing through!

Definitely coming back here for future service. I was quoted some huge costs and repairs in Phoenix that just seemed too extreme. Called Flag Auto Repair for a second opinion. They gave me that and the true diagnosis on my vehicle for a fraction of my first quote. Great, timely service and awesome people. They seem very honest and trustworthy which is hard to feel at auto shops!

I have to give Flagstaff Auto Repair an amazing review! I just bought a 2012 Toyota Corolla and while I figured everything was okay, I wanted to get everything checked before leaving Arizona to drive to Oregon. As a girl who knows nothing about cars, I was wary of someone taking advantage of me but everyone here was fantastic. They were nice on the phone, flexible with my hours, and then honest about the car. Five stars!

I don't normally post reviews. Therefore, the fact that I feel compelled to post on this shop tells you how utterly fantastic it is.
I was traveling across the country from New Jersey to Nevada when my AC went out in my little beetle in the middle of Arizona....in July.....
I am a bit of a princess and had to get this checked out ASAP. I was planning on stopping in Flagstaff anyway- so I started looking for somewhere on the way. I normally only go to vw certified type places because I know vw's can be tough to work on but I was impressed with what people said about this place and how willing they were to help when I called. Plus, I was in a time crunch.
I stopped by, sweating bullets. They took my car right away and were able to diagnose the problem quickly (a fuse issue that many vw's have. Makes sense since my baby is older- a 2000)
They offered me multiple options including keeping it for the night to get a vw part shipped over and put on. BUT, I was in a bit of a time crunch and relatively close to where I was headed (in comparison to where I started...) They were able to offer a temporary circuit breaker fix. I am currently spending the night in Las Vegas, 200 miles from them and the temp fix is still working. I just need it to last until I can drop my car off at my guy in northern Nevada tomorrow.
I know my car very well. I didn't feel swindled and despite being a woman, I didn't feel as if the men talked down to me, either. Really a wonderful place. And I found the cost to be very fair. I also got my full synthetic oil done while I was there.
Oh, not only were they timely, friendly, and informative, they worked on my car while it was filled literally to the top with stuff...they couldn't see out my back window or have a passenger.
Great customer service and knowledge, even when it comes to German cars! Nice work. Nice waiting area and they gave me a water bottle while I waited. As if you need any more reasons to visit, this student doctor would endorse this place if she could.

I had my front brake pads and rotors replaced here today. Flagstaff Auto Repair did a free brake inspection then showed me the condition of my brakes and explained to me what they recommended. They didn't pressure me into additional services as I have experienced at other garages and their prices for brake replacement are one the lowest of the 6-7 garages I checked with. The staff were nice, they have wifi in their comfortable waiting room, and the work was reasonably fast. If I have more work that needs to be done I'll ask them first.

I loved the service and the work. I have only had the vehicle for a few weeks and no problems yet. I did like the one year warranty. The only gripe I have is that I have to wait until the end of the day for an update on the vehicle. It makes it difficult to plan ahead when I have to wait until the end of the day to be informed of the status of the vehicle. Not that big of a problem to knock off a star. I will still be returning to this shop in the future and will recommend to others.

Brought my Subaru here after getting an absurd quote from the local Subaru dealer after spending $100 for the diagnostic. I was not a happy camper. (They basically suggested I spend more than the car is worth on repairs). Dustin did another diagnostic for me for under $100 and gave me honest feedback about what I needed to do to keep my car running. He could have made a lot of money charging me for a part I didn't really need urgently, (like the dealer wanted to do)...instead he gave me advice for future work which will definitely be with Flagstaff Auto !!

I arrived in Flagstaff Sunday night with my family and checked into our hotel. I went back out to my vehicle an hour later to take my family to dinner, and found my battery was dead and would not jump start. The battery was only four months old and installed by Big O Tires. Apparently Big O Tires doesn't clean the contacts before installing the battery, and it was completely corroded. I contacted Howard at Flagstaff Auto Repair the next morning and my battery was not only cleaned and fully charge but at a reasonable price. They were friendly courteous and extremely expeditious in their service. I can't say enough about Flagstaff Auto Repair. I've never written a review on yelp before but was so impressed by their service I felt compelled to do so.

It is beyond me how these guys have received such rave reviews thus far. My experience was the total opposite.
First off, I'm a guy who does all the maintenance work on my own vehicles. I have a good knowledge of cars and what it takes to fix mechanical problems. However, sometimes I run into issues that I cannot fix due to either not having the correct tools or just getting too fed up with attempting it myself. Such is the reason as to why I brought my Jeep into these guys.
My Jeep had a bad CV axle that was only getting worse. I had attempted to remove it myself but could not get the thing out of the gear box for the life of me (didn't have the correct tools). So I took it to these guys. I waited in the lobby for nearly an hour when Howard comes in to tell me there is a problem and offers to show me what's going on. I proceed to follow him into the maintenance bay to find that only the tire has been removed, great. I am told that in order to remove the CV axle, the clevis fork (these guys didn't even know the name of) had to be removed and the bolt is rusted beyond their ability to take off. Since it was rusted so bad they will need to break it off which would then "damage the fork beyond use". I am told they'll need to order new bolts and clevis forks. He then points out that my strut is leaking and needs replaced. Yea, cool, I already know this and that's something I can do myself.
Howard says, "Are you sure you want to do that? You'll just end up running into the same problems you see here on the other side."
In a salesmen like manner, he continues to try and convince me to let them replace not one, but both shocks, the driver side clevis fork AND the passenger side as well since "that one is bound to be rusted as bad as the other" without him even once checking it himself.
So they put everything back together and I drive him with a total cost that went from $100 to right under $1,000 all because of this "rusted bolt".
Here's where the story get's good. I get to thinking that something isn't right here and I should check things myself. A couple days later I crawl under my Jeep with an impact gun to see if I can get the bolt off myself...guess what...the bolt comes RIGHT OFF with little-to-no effort. It didn't even appear to have a significant amount of rust on it. These guys blatantly LIED about the bolt being rusted and didn't even try other methods of removal JUST so they could swindle me out of an extra $900 in parts and labor I did not need.
I now tell everyone I know NOT to trust their vehicle to these guys. They are mechanically incompetent thieves who see a young, college student and think they can pull the wool over their eyes and roll in the extra profits. Don't let their friendliness fool you. Typical auto repair salesman behavior here.

Awesome shop! I trust these guys with my cars.
One time, I took my Forester to the local dealership and they told me I need to replace a few things (I won't specify here). Dealership quoted me around $700 for the fix. I was kinda weary because I just replaced those items 2 years back. Brought this car to Flagstaff Auto Repair and asked Dustin (service writer) to have it checked along with other things. After a while, he took me to the back and showed me what the dealer shop said I needed replaced. Nothing wrong with it!
Needless to say, I saved myself some money and found a shop I can trust. Thank you!
They're not the cheapest but they are better than dealer prices. You wouldn't want the cheapest anyway because it'll show in the quality of work.
By the way, Dustin will answer any questions regarding your car in a such a way you'd understand and learn from. Great guys at this shop. They also have shuttle service.

We were on a cross country trip from Northern California to Tennessee, and stopped in Flagstaff to refuel the Tahoe and the passengers; my wife and dog. When we prepared to get back on the road, the Air Conditioning stopped working, hence we turned to Yelp for repair options. As usual, fellow Yelpers did not lead us astray, as we went to Flagstaff Auto Repair for assistance. What followed, was beyond our expectations, and words can not express our gratitude!
Upon arrival, Howard was able to get our Tahoe in for inspection in short order. Concerned what part had failed, what it would cost, was quickly put to rest, as Dustin advised it was only a relay switch, and they were having the local supply hustle the part over, to get us back on the road, all for a Very reasonable price!
Thank you Howard and team for the tremendous services you provide, your professionalism and integrity was a pleasure to do business with. Our only regret, is that Howard's store is not in our Hometown; Flagstaff, you have a winner here!

Dustin and Lindsay took care of me and my car on very short notice, and shortly before closing time, while I was passing through town on a road trip. I had some engine trouble near the Grand Canyon, and I also needed an oil change. My bill ended up being *less* than what Dustin quoted to me, and my car is now running great. Dustin also gave me some free advice on how to prevent problems in the future. Waiting room has a TV, a comfy couch, and free wi-fi.

This place is amazing!!! My post is about a year late, but I was driving from New Orleans to Las Vegas with my dog and all my stuff in my jeep. I was about 20 miles past flagstaff when my fan ripped through my radiator! I got towed back to flagstaff where I found these guys on the Internet! Went there and these guys bent my fan back into place for free instead of charging me for a new one. Had trouble finding the parts I needed but went out of their way to find them. Had me back on the road for a VERY REASONABLE PRICE in 4 hours! I thought my pup and I were gonna have to sleep outside in the snow. Instead I pulled into my destination a few hours later than I thought. After them letting me and my pup sit in the waiting room and they gave me coffee to warm up. Great and honest people! If you guys ever come up to Vegas, stop by Fuel Bar and ask for Sooshey(sushi) let me return the great service! Thank you again for being so fair and honest!

These guys are SPECTACULAR!!! I came in over heating from previous work done by another shop in another state and they took care of me - let me camp out in their waiting room with my dogs (they even gave the dogs treats) not only did they fix my issue but made sure I was good to go for the rest of my trip. My husband and I were in the middle of a road trip from Chicago to Flagstaff and stumbled across this place due to all the positive reviews on yelp. We still can't believe how friendly the staff was and at such a reasonable rate. For the work/parts for what they did on our car we would of paid 2X-3X's as much back home in Chicago. One of the coolest things they did was offer to take us somewhere if we didn't want to be stuck in the waiting room as they worked on the car!

The staff at Flagstaff auto repair were EXCEPTIONAL. We were travel from California to Oklahoma. Our truck experienced the Dodge "death wobble". It was a late Friday afternoon and they were able to get us in between jobs to diagnosis the issue. They fixed the problem. They then took is for an adequate test drive to make sure then problem was fixed. They then proceeded not to charge us for their time. Their generosity, kindness and professionalism was outstanding. I'm from the Athens Georgia area and needed immediate help with
my cars A/C while in Flagstaff AZ on vacation. I contacted Dustin at 8am on a Monday
morning and explained the urgency of needing a quick repair so not to ruin a week of vacation.
Dustin took my car in immediately and called with a quote and repair time estimate within two hours.
In just over 24 hours my car was fixed and that was with needing a part that required overnight delivery.
The turn around time was impressive although what was more impressive was their customer service and terrific friendly attitude.
A Huge Thanks to Flagstaff Auto and their staff for making a desert break down much more manageable.

Here's the whole thing. My car has had issues where every month or so the tackometer would be reving while I was sitting at lights or stopsigns. It would even rev to 3000rpm and then fail. My engine would TURN ITSELF OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. Over two years I got repairs such as "oh we just plugged a usb and updated it. Should be fine" to "it had no issues". As if I WAS making this shit up. It's had a long on gong mystery that surfaces regardless of "being fixed". I had a mechanic keep my car for a week, they did nothing to it and tried charging me money. I've spent surplus of $800 to "fix" this. When I moved to flag, the problem started up again with force. I am assuming it's due to the weather being colder than my car is used to. I took a chance on this mechanic in flagstaff and I couldnt be more pleased. they actually took the time to troubleshoot the problem. I finally found an honest mechanic. I'm used to walking into a place like this and being patronized for being female, not here! I have to say that they solved the problem. My car drives like the day I got it and the whole thing was over a dirty intake valve. It had never been cleaned, never. So this mechanic is nice AND thurough. When I arrived to pay I figured this dream had to be too true and I should bust out my savings, however the repairs were also very reasonably priced. Absolutely love this place and wouldn't take my car anywhere else.

I dropped my car off in the morning and my car was done by the end of the day! The repairs were a lot cheaper than I thought they would be and the staff was very friendly! I would go back anytime. Thanks to this place, my boyfriend and I were able to continue our road trip. Recommended by our bike tour guide at the grand canyon, Howard was awesome and thorough. What we feared could've been a transmission issue, turned out to be a minor air flow issue and was diagnosed and fixed within an hour or so. Price was also fair and honest.

Remarkable service and willing to go the extra mile... I had the unfortunate luck to break down with some wild symptoms and very far from home. Dustin and Howard went to such lengths to help me, even when their obligation had been fully satisfied. They genuinely cared about getting me back on the road and that's more than I can say about most shops. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking for a fair shake, honest communication and quality workmanship. You will not find a more respectable auto repair shop in flagstaff.

We were just passing through flagstaff when our check engine light came on. The manager was very helpful and explained the cause of the check engine light very well. He also explained that it was not an urgent problem and we could continue on our trip. He was very honest man and did not trry to mislead us. Highly recomemded.
