There are several things I could be listing off here of why I think this place is the best. I would not have a running car if it weren't for J& L. They have always provided the best quality and professional service with every visit, and quite frankly I do not trust taking my car anywhere else. Thank you for you never-ending top notch service!

James is very honest and does excellent work. You wont find anyone better and more reasonable. He is the only shop I will let work on my car.

Hometown business with hometown service. We have taken our vehicles in several times for various reasons from oil changes to brake pads to, most recently, have a timing belt replaced. Each time we have felt like we are their most important customer. Their prices are competitive and turn around time for the services we have needed have been great!

Took my Honda Accord after I hear a fan starting to squeal. The car drives just fine, I just thought I'd be preemptive about any problems as the car is getting pretty old. I hadn't been to J&L before, but I figured if they setup shop in Alpine they'd probably charge more but do the job right because that's what their customer base would expect. J&L tells me that my radiator cooling fan is failing and that some of my belts needed to be replaced.
Their quote on the repair is about $80 dollars higher than some of their competitors, but that's OK with me as long as they do the repair well. I come back in, get the car, and ask the guy at the front desk specifically, "Is there anything else I need to know about my car?" I'm told no, the car is fine. So I drive to SLC for work the next day, and on the way back I notice that the temp gauge has shot through the roof. I hadn't noticed any problems with the engine, but I immediately shut off the car and get off at the nearest exist to prevent further damage. Next day I call back in and tell them what happened, and J&L tells me that they warned me to watch the coolant, and that they had no idea how much damage could've been done to the car (none of which was actually said, even if they were thinking that).
They tow the car in, then quote me a $600 dollar repair on replacing the radiator, which apparently just "rusted out" and magically broke immediately after their work on the cooling fan of the radiator. When I decided to think about the repair rather than having it done on the spot, the guy gets irritated because he had the car towed in on his own dime, telling me he should've charged me (he didn't in the end because he didn't say anything when I called). Having looked at the tubing, I can definitely confirm that the radiator was rusting out, but whatever work they did around the radiator probably damaged the assembly enough to break it. It may have needed to be replaced soon anyway, the car is old, but they should've taken some responsibility instead of blaming their customer.
However, what irked me most was their quote on the repair of the new part. $600 for a repair that your outfit in part caused? I got a quote at Clegg automotive for half that price and had the repair done there. The car works great now. I would recommend going a little further a field if you want responsible service at a better price.

Zero stars. Took our van in to check on our AC which was blowing off pressure. After paying $90 to recharge the system and $40 to change our cabin air filter (yes, $40) the problem remained. I regret not spending 5 minutes on google before taking our van to these guys. Turns out there is an AC compressor relay that goes out in Honda Odysseys. The part is less than $5. If the battery is dying and the AC compressor is blowing off extra pressure then it is not a $900 AC compressor problem. It's a five dollar part that takes 30 seconds to fix. Really hope enjoyed my $130 as it will be the last dollars I (or anyone else I know) EVER give them.

Took our van into this shop when Greenwoods in American Fork was too busy (another great shop). Took them a couple of hours to diagnose the problem (didn't charge for the diagnosis since we had fix done there). The timing belt had to be changed because of poor workmanship when we had the belt replaced a few months ago. Charged about the same as Greenwoods would have (Greenwoods is known for their fair pricing). J and L did good work at a fair price.
