The dual zone heat in my 2003 Jeep was not functioning. I did a diagnostic code check to get more information and gave that information to the tech at Gateway Auto Tech to reduce troubleshooting time.
The information I printed out and provided was ignored. I was called after they ripped my Jeep apart and was told there was a hole in my heater core. There wasn't . They broke a blender door in the process, then told me that was the cause of the problem. I knew that was not the case because I checked both blender doors before I brought it in. The error code said the recirculation door was broken and that's what I told them when I dropped the Jeep off. The blender doors are a poor design and break quite easily. I'm certain that's why they went to that, immediately. The original plastic doors were replaced by heavy duty, thick aluminum doors two years before I brought it in. After replacing the blender door they broke and charged me for, the problem wasn't resolved because the recirculation door was the one that was broken. So I had to pay for that as well.
Overall, they were late in getting a phone call to me after they tore into the problem. They ignored the information I provided because they had preconceived notions. When their original diagnosis was wrong, they created the problem to justify charging me more money. They took 2 days longer to fix it than originally promised.
Lying to me about an automotive repair is unacceptable. If I can't trust a mechanic I will never return and I will always tell others to avoid them.
