Wayne's Garage was able to accommodate me as a walk in customer Friday morning. I was headed to the shore on vacation and needed an oil change and new wipers. My car was finished sooner than they told me. And they provided shuttle service to where I work about a mile away. Great experience! Great group of guys! Thank you!

Wayne's Garage took care of my 11-year-old Mini Cooper for the four years it spent in Philadelphia. Once or twice, it brought the geriatric car back from the dead. More than once, its preventive care helped the Mini drive to the Chuhuahuan Desert and back in one piece. Wayne's Garage is sort of like a family doctor--the kind of mechanics with whom you want to develop, and keep, a long-term relationship. And while you wait for the verdict from the guys in the back, Mike and Wayne out front will entertain you with a witty back-and-forth that will make you forget Car Talk.

I've had good experiences with this place. I have a 2003 honda civic hybrid.
My introduction to this place was when I ordered a part myself, and they were glad to install it for me for a reasonable price--much cheaper than the dealer.
They have been adept at fixing things involving the on-board computer and indicator lights that other small shops have fumbled on or neglected. I think this place is just as good as a dealer with the more technical stuff--nowadays I only use the dealer for recalls and things covered under warranty, which are fewer as my car ages.
Once I came in for an inspection and scheduled oil change after a period of not driving a huge amount and they're like--your oil looks really clean, you might as well wait a while. There was also a routine change of the air filter which the dealer had recommended, and when I mentioned it to them, they checked it and said--no, wait longer on that one too.
I also have looked up the cost of specific itemized repairs on the invoice, because I'm curious like that, and the prices here check out. They're not the rock bottom lowest prices you can get in the Philly area but I think they are definitely towards the more competitive side of the spectrum, and I feel like they have the competence to back up their prices.
They also give me a heads up about future repairs -- i.e. things like "Your tires are good for this inspection but they may not pass next inspection." I really appreciate this because it helps me to pace my future expenditures.
I'm someone who is both cost-conscious, yet who likes to keep my car in tip-top shape, a more preventive maintenance approach. I feel like I can trust Wayne's as being on top of the more important repairs, without pushing unnecessary ones on me. They don't stick mindlessly to the recommended maintenance schedules, but actually check the state of things and they've consistently told me to push back scheduled maintenance when it's unnecessary.
I have also noticed that my car runs and drives better after I get work done here. I think overall, my car has run smoother now that I have a couple years of having the car serviced here, than it did when I was using other shops in the past.
Also? They've been very timely at completing my repairs, and they often are able to take me in on short notice. And they're near trolley lines, making it pretty accessible from a lot of places once you drop off your car (this can't be said of the nearest Honda dealer).

Buyer Beware. Take the negative reviews here seriously. Notice the pattern.
The first few times I brought my 2006 Subaru Outback here, about 4 years ago, things were fine. Inspection, oil change, inspection, oil change.
Then in 2014 the pattern developed-- I would get a call from Mike or Joe saying that they found x, y, and z wrong, and they couldn't give the car back to me without making the repairs--which totalled between $2000-4000.
After going through this twice, and finding out from my new mechanic that this work either 1) wasn't complete, 2) was unnecessary, 3) was overpriced, I will never go back.
I should have trusted my intuition earlier. I could have saved thousands of dollars and days of frustration, returning, waiting.
In October 2014 I was about to be remarried, money was really tight due to the wedding expenses, and I was I between freelance projects. I brought my car in for bad wiper blades and an oil change 2 days before a 300 mile trip to meet with a client, so timing was key. About midday after dropping it off, I got the call. I was not yet due for inspection until December, but I was told it would fail. To pass would require replacing wheel bearings, brakes, and the brake fluid line. They convinced me that because of the bad bearings, the car was also unsafe to drive for long distances. They would have to keep it overnight until they got all the parts. Mike recommended getting the inspection done while they had it on the lift, even though it was 2 months early. He said that they would post-date the inspection sticker so I wouldn't need a new one until December 2015. Might as well get it over with, right? I didn't know how I was going to pay for it. I told him to hold off until I could figure something out. Under extreme duress, l called my then-fiance and we culled together $4000 between two credit cards, and draining his savings. In tears, I called them back and gave them the green light.
The next day I called them mid-day to find out when I could pick it up. End of day, they said. They close at 5. I got there at 4:45, and one of the desk guys (I forget his name, but he's the big one who always jokes around about what you did to make the car get this way) had just locked up. I asked him to please let me get my car. I needed it for a long drive tomorrow. He claimed he didn't have the key, only Mike does, and Mike was gone. Sure, right. You're trusted to lock up but you don't have a key. I was 100% sure he was bullshitting me because he didn't want the hassle.
So I come back first thing in the AM to pick up my car. I pay. I get in my car. I go. For $4000, my 8-year-old Subie better be singing like it's brand spanking new.
On my drive home the next day, it begins to rain. Hard.
Guess what they didn't fix?
The windshield wipers.
One of the two minor reasons I had brought it in to begin with, completely disregarded--but oh, they still charged me for it. After what I paid, there shouldn't have been a single stone left unturned, yet, somehow, they overlooked the simplest, easiest thing.
Which makes me question their Quality Control. And their integrity.
When I call about the wiper blades, they say "are you sure?" Yes I am dead freaking sure. Mike says he'll replace them right away. No extra charge. Like he's doing me favor. I already paid for the blades. They're on my $4000 invoice.
When I pick up the car later in the day, 2 wipers have been replaced. But the rear wiper, the most damaged wiper (and most expensive one), remains unchanged. I bring this to their attention.
"Oh, we had to special order that blade. It will be here tomorrow, hopefully." Thanks for telling me.
Two days later I call to check the status of my blade. "Yeah, we got it." Thanks for letting me know.
After a few weeks of using these replacement blades, it's clear they used crap blades on the front. They're smearing, rather than wiping. I call and tell them I need better blades. Mike says, "bring it in. I'll take care of ya hon."
At no point did you take care of me, Wayne's Garage. At no point did you apologize, and you should have. Profusely. At no point did I feel like a valued customer. Your customer service is null. Your quality control is null. Your work is sloppy. Your business acumen is shady.
I don't just go dropping four grand every day. I don't remember the last time I spent so much and felt so ripped off. I still don't know if you did all the work you billed me for. My intuition says "of course they didn't."
I certainly won't drop another single penny at your establishment. You won't get any business from anyone I meet either.

I had a pretty bad experience with these guys and switched to Foreign Fix.
Was a regular customer for years, no complaints.
One day, however, after an oil change/tire rotation, they lightly crashed my car, and caused around $1000 in bumper and 1/4 panel damage to my car.
The owner was on vacation, and the staff said he would make it right.
Nope. Owner never called, and never apologized.
To make it worse, when I brought it back, they did work before it was needed without giving me any deal, and didn't repair the bumper damage.
I switched to a fantastic mechanic - Foreign Fix. They haven't crashed my car.

I'm not usually a negative reviewer but felt compelled because these guys don't deserve your business. I took my car here (instead of my usual auto shop) for a standard state inspection because it's closer my house. Wayne's claimed that my car could not pass inspection without $2200 worth of work. I guess because I'm a 20-something woman they thought they could get away with this. Unfortunately for them, my father is a mechanic and I know my car. It was all BS. I took my car to another shop and it passed with flying colors. No issues; just a few things with the usual wear and tear that I need to keep an eye on over the next six months. I would never, ever return here. If they try to pull this kind of thing on a standard inspection, I can't imagine how they'd take advantage of someone who has a real issue with their vehicle.

I decided not to have them do the repair. Now I go to get the car towed out and they tell me that they replaced the starter and I need to pay $900 I told them that was Way to much I get the invoice and was charged extra for everything even the Tow . The tow was only $60 and the invoice showed $70 WOW they even tried to profit from the Tow so i had them take the starter off and just paid for diagnosis Oooh and only $60 for the Tow ... Wish I could give a 0 stars. I had my my mom take her car to Wayne's because they are a local business that has been around for a long time. We needed new brake pads, and, after they looked at the car they said we needed almost $4,000 in work!
We knew they were full of it, because some of the things they recommended (spark plugs, wipers, etc..) were virtually brand new, installed less than 5 months previously. They just thought they hit the jackpot when they saw a vulnerable old lady. Honestly, I couldn't think of more terrible people. Ended up getting what we needed fixed for less than 1/3 of the price at a different shop.

These guys are awesome. They always give me a heads up before they do any work, they always explain the problems in non-condescending ways, they throw me a little discount here or there when they can, and they are Ask Patty certified (meaning that they don't try to rip women off). They have helped me negotiate problems with the crappy car dealership I bought my used car from, going so far as to coach me through how to discuss the problem, and even offering to call on my behalf.
The first time I brought my ancient, dying volvo to these folks, yes, the bill was pretty high. They were a new garage for me, and it is hard to know who to trust, so I drove the car back to my long-time family mechanic back home. My family's trusty mechanic came up with the SAME EXACT repair list and SAME EXACT price tag as Wayne's. They care about your safety and do quality work. Love these guys!

Wayne's doesn't honor their warranty on a radiator they replaced on a 2001 BMW 540, even though to this day it's still within the warranty period.
We originally went to them to fix an emergency coolant leak, which resulted in Wayne's replacing the radiator. We had to return two times for a 'check coolant leak' and were told it "just needs topping off". We've had various work done by other shops over the course of 100k; requiring coolant refilling and bleeding the system correctly, and have never had this problem. The third time the coolant light went off, we were required to be towed to the shop from the freeway. I mentioned to Wayne's that the radiator could be shifted in its location and appeared to be missing parts that it had previously. Their response was that, "the mechanic often doesn't include the extra parts he thinks are unnecessary". The check coolant light continued, with us refilling the coolant weekly ourselves, until we ultimately just gave up and parked the car.
Needing to either perform the annual inspection or sell it; we recently took the car into a BMW shop for general diagnostics. That diagnosis included a cooling system pressure test. The report noted the missing radiator mounts, the fan shroud held together with cable ties and a cracked radiator nipple - the cause of our current leak. Wayne's now wants $800 to do the job again, supposedly with a break in cost. The original quote from the BMW shop will do the same work for $600, using oem parts.
It's a shame, because we live around the corner and it would be super-convenient to use this shop. They have always had an arrogant demeanor, but has been something we've looked past. But, as a result of this experience, we have no trust in them and will never go back.

Very disappointed in my experience here. A month ago, I took my 2002 Volvo in to them to do a bunch of work I needed done - oil change, brakes replacement, and steering wheel issues. I paid them a LOT of money for the work they did after all was said and done, and I thought everything was fine.
A month later, my steering wheel out of nowhere starts behaving worse than it was before it got fixed, majorly locking up and extremely difficult to turn. I bring the car back here and tell them the problem has happened again, but worse this time. Essentially I get blamed for the problem, being told I may have "run over a twig" and did the damage that way. He acted like he was going to do me a favor fixing the car again because I told them there was no way I'd be able to pay them again to fix a problem that should have already been fixed.
They check out what's wrong and tell me they ordered the part. Wednesday comes (five days after I left the car with them - granted, I left it on the Friday before Labor Day weekend, so I understand why the delay) and he tells me that I can pick the car up but it still needs to get an alignment since the initial alignment they did "wasn't quite right" and he said it was because the whole steering was taken apart. He tells me, however, that it is driveable but I should bring it back for the alignment as soon as I could. I drove the car two feet before I realized it was STILL not anywhere close to okay and I could not drive it. I drove it right back to them and told them to do the alignment correctly.
I get a call the next day and they tell me that the manufacturer gave them the incorrect part - TWICE! According to them, the part that they were given was 5 inches too long for my car, was meant for a different model of my car, and it didn't fit properly - hence why the car could not align properly. Sounds to me like the people at Wayne's were mistaken and requested the wrong part - I highly doubt the Manufacturer would make that same mistake twice.
I finally pick my car up on Friday, exactly 7 days after I left it with them (and this being the second time in the course of a month that they have worked on my steering). They tell me everything is fixed, the car is perfectly aligned, and I'm good to go. After driving the car away, the steering STILL did not feel right. It was not doing what it was before but it was making strange sounds when I turned the wheel. I also heard a new humming sound coming from the engine area that I hadn't heard before.
Because of these problems continuing, I took my car to another mechanic to get looked at, one that my family has gone to for years (unfortunately he's 2 hours from Philadelphia, which is why I couldn't go to him the first time). He tells me part of the rack and pinion in the steering wheel called the coulter needs to be replaced. HOW is it that after weeks of these people at Wayne's Garage working on my car and allegedly entirely replacing the steering wheel is there STILL a problem in that area?
I will never take my car to these people again, and it's a shame, because I only live a block away from them. However, when you take your car to a garage to get something fixed and pay a lot of money to these people, you expect it done right the first time. To make sure the coulter is properly fixed, I will now be paying money to the mechanic I trust. Very disgusted that I wasted so much time and money bringing my car here. Never. Again.
Update as of 12/2014 - a few months after my negative experience at Wayne's, I filed a formal complaint with the PA Attorney General's office, requesting their assistance in simply getting a refund for the shoddy work they did. The AG sent my complaint to Wayne's and required a response, but of course, Wayne's refused to acknowledge ANY wrongdoing on their part and would not give me a refund. The AG advised me to seek legal action to further pursue the issue but I could not afford a lawyer, so unfortunately, I had to drop it.

This garage is very expensive. They wanted a 1000 $ for a fuel pump installed. Yet in store the fuel pump was 118 $ and it was installed in under 3 hours. That's real grimey!!

I can work on my own car but took it to them to save me time. They took a look at it, and they told me the part would cost $200 (but it's "normally $300, we're really cutting you a deal") and it would be $500, total.
I decided not to pay that and took my car back. Called a parts shop and they said my part would be $150. Then I took a look at my car and realized I had some loose bolts- I just needed to readjust the part and tighten em up.
A professional would be able to see this on a quick inspection of the problem. The garage either didn't see it, or did and wanted to get my $ by replacing perfectly good parts.
Paid $50 for them just to look at it- and not see the problem.

Three and a half stars. Pleasant, polite, and friendly service. I took a car for a state inspection. Cost: $62. Thank you gentlemen. You have a new customer. My only criticism: the steering wheel had grease and oil fingerprints. A quick wipe down before returning the car to me would have earned a higher star rating.

Mike at Wayne's Garage helped me out when I had to get the cooling system replaced and was willing to work with me every step of the way. He took me step-by-step through the problem, explained why each part needed to be replaced (and their function in the system, to boot), and was patient and understanding when it took me time to decide whether to get my car fixed on my recent-grad budget. While their labor cost is on the higher end of the spectrum, as other reviewers have pointed out, their quality work is worth it, and they have an 18 month/18k mile warranty on all parts and labor.
Nobody tried to upsell anything, and they were able to salvage and repair one of the more expensive parts, saving me $100. They definitely have a returning customer.

First off, why are there 30 negative reviews that Yelp has "not recommended" at the bottom of their page? What's that about? I am filing a formal complaint to AAA about my experience with these guys. Wayne and his boys are total rip-off artists...schemers and highway robbers. They played a lot of games with me, trying to see how much I knew about cars (not much) before asking me what was wrong with my car. To make a long story short, they believed that I was vulnerable (24 y.o. with Rhode Island tags and no car expert whatsoever) and tried to take advantage of that. Before even evaluating my car, they assessed the work as over a grand. In fact, through conversations with my mechanic in RI and the technicians at the AAA car care center (who fixed my problem), I found out they were overcharging me in excess of $500. They took no time to explain to me what was going on and why they would be charging me so much. I actually had to call AAA to tow my car away to another shop. The AAA driver couldn't believe how much they were estimating and actually opened the hood and showed me what was probably wrong - while they all gave dirty looks from across the street. At the end of the day, I did get my car issues resolved for less than half the price. So happy I took it elsewhere and told them what I really thought about "their estimate." STAY AWAY!!!

I've never written a yelp review but this experience inspired me to sign up. Brought my car in for an oil leak- was told it would cost $700 for the repairs. This didnt sound right to me so I did some research and saw that this should be a really cheap fix. Went to Ezra's on 48th and spruce and got it fixed for $40. Stay clear of this place.

The short story: they're very expensive and not that great.
I first went there because of a noise the car was making when turning. Wayne himself was in charge of it. I was already not very impressed because he couldn't hear the noise I was talking about when he drove the car alone, but somehow was able to hear it within 30 seconds when I was driving (and pointed it out to him). They replaced the right/front axle shaft, only to have to come back a few days later because of an even louder noise. They replaced the bearing too. Wayne actually told me that I should just turn the stereo louder and ignore the noise, and I think he was only half joking... I still had to come back a couple more times in the next week because the car kept making even weirder noises. At some point it sounded like a small airplane... To their credit, they did get it done eventually, and the car sounded good for a few thousand miles (before similar noises started again), but given how expensive they are, this took a lot longer than it should have. They're also not open on weekends -- not really their fault, but since I commute to work, there were four or five days when I had to stay home because they kept not getting it right.
Later on, I had some oil leaks, for which they replaced the oil pressure sensor. The leak was still there, though -- the oil was half empty within 2500 miles. They told me they couldn't find a leak, and the oil must have just gotten used up! I don't think oil is supposed to get "used up"... it's just a lubricant.
All in all, I would stay away from them. There are much cheaper mechanics in Philly that are no worse than Wayne's.

I have taken my car here several times over the past few years for minor repairs and an inspection and had no complaints or problems. On my last visit, I took my car for brake repairs and state inspections. They contacted me and told me I needed to replace all four tires. Not the best news, but not entirely shocking either, as I do most of my driving on Philly streets. The person I spoke with on the phone insulted me, however, by stating that the new tires I needed would cost nearly $800. I have a mid size sedan with over 100,000 miles on it and would never spend $800 on new, premium tires for my car, and while I'm no expert, I have some idea of what these things should cost. After speaking to the owner, he said they could do the work for just over $400, but no thank you. I have no interest in returning to Wayne's Garage. They did repair the brakes, and a month later they are totally fine. Just passed inspection at another garage!

Garage is in my neighborhood. Car lost power to drive train. Towed to Wayne's because it was close. Manager or owner called me on Monday, said' without putting it up on a rack' I was probably looking at a transmission, 1400.00 or so. I said 'no thanks, not yet'. I stopped by the following Saturday to get it towed elsewhere. The car was in *exactly* the same place the Tow had left it on the street Friday night. The wheels had not even been turned. Clearly there had never been any undercarriage examination. The only evidence it had been touched at all? The car was now unlocked. In West Philadelphia. Since Monday.
Eventual diagnosis (from the dealer's shop): a recent axle repair had used the wrong axle size. Cost to make that right: $400. Not 1400.
So: they proposed, sight unseen, to charge me handsomely for a repair I did not need, which would not have fixed the actual problem. And they left my car unlocked on the street for a week to boot.
How are these guys still in business?

In short, they gave me an estimate to make a repair on my car and added on a number of extra charges that weren't even mentioned. My repair ended up costing double the estimate, and it wasn't a small estimate to begin with. Oh, and they had the thing in my hands a day later than originally informed and neglected to tell me about this delay. To add insult to monetary injury, my car maintains the same lurching issues.
Also: $50 for an oil change? Never again. Unless I win Powerball.

We've lived in the area for 4 years or so, and have an old and crappy car that needs pretty regular repairs. We have been searching and searching for a mechanic that we can trust, and we're so relieved to finally find one.
As the other reviews say, their up-front charges aren't the cheapest you'll find, but that's the thing-- they're up-front. They don't come around telling you that you need tons of expensive repairs that you don't. In fact, they talked us out of a repair that we thought we needed. They talk you through everything they're going to do with patience and without being too condescending, which we really appreciate. Just because we're not mechanics ourselves doesn't mean we can't understand an explanation when it's given to us, and it's nice (and rare!) to get that kind of respect.
Wayne's will be our go-to garage from now on, and we'll feel a lot more secure about our car's safety with it in their hands!

I live right across the street from waynes and only to there if I absolutely have to. They are completely overpriced for no reason. The first time I was there I was charge $100 for an oil change and to check something on my car. Pepboys would have done all of that for $30. Unfortunately I had to pay for convenience. The second time I went for an alignment and they quoted me 75. My boyfriend dropped off the car and they were VERY rude. They told me that they couldnt align it because of a problem. I got an estimate to fix the car if $1400 and they charged my bf the $75 for the alignment bc they said they had aligned the front of the car. He stormed out and got me. When I arrived the mechanic said that he made a mistake n would ONLY charge me 35 to look at it (my mechanic in scranton does that for free ). I took my car to a mechanic in scranton who said that it would cost half the estimate they gave me.
I understand phili is expensive but this place charges exorbitant prices and finds unnecessary problems with your car.
If you can go to a more reputable mechanic or even a chain because you can at least complain to customer service.

I went there yesterday for the second time, this time around with a flat tire. I told them that I didn't have all too much time, and maybe because it wasn't a busy day, they told me that if I gave them $20 cash, they would plug the tire in 15 minutes. When I looked at my wallet, I had $16 and no credit cards. The guy shrugged and said, "good enough..." and then plugged my tire. They even changed the tire from my spare right on the spot. I was supremely thankful, and impressed with the quick and courteous service.

Please don't take the risk of utilizing this business. I am so glad that other people have had positive experiences here, but unfortunately this was the worst mechanic experience I have ever had. I brought my car in to Wayne for the first time to have an oil leak identified and fixed, so I left my car with them to diagnose the problem. When Joe called back he claimed that they had found the source of the leak, but that my battery was dead which would "have to be fixed right away". Of course it could be a coincidence that the battery stopped working at the mechanics, but I had no problems with my battery whatsoever prior to leaving the car in their care. I really wish at that point I had decided to go elsewhere.
After the intial work, three follow up visits, and many sarcastic and dissmissive assurances from Wayne and Joe that "a leak no longer existed", my car still leaks oil as if no work was done whatsoever. I do not accuse Wayne's Garage of doing no work on my car, only that they charged me over $300 for a service that they did not deliver. In total I paid about $600 for a battery replacement that, with amazing coincidence, worked just fine until it was at Wayne's Garage, and for them to fix an oil leak that was never remedied.
If you are looking for a mechanic in Philly, stick with 11th Street Auto. They have an amazing reputation, decent prices, and I know many people who have trusted them over the years to do great work.

Update May 2012: Wayne's Garage has changed hands; Wayne retired. The new owner, Joe, is untested at this point. I took my car in for an oil change and he called to tell me that I needed a $500 brake job. I'll get a second opinion just to be on the safe side.
******************************
Just tried this place for the first time, in my ongoing search for an honest and competent auto repair place in Philadelphia. This one was recommended to me by a few people who have been going to Wayne's for years. I called to say that my car needed an oil change and also an unofficial inspection since I'm getting ready to take a 600 mile road trip. Wayne said he'd just had a cancellation, so if I brought it in in the next couple of hours, they could handle it.
They changed the oil, replaced the oil and air filters and windshield wipers, checked and filled fluids, inflated the tires to the proper pressure (yo Obama), checked the brakes, etc. I had mentioned that the engine light went on just before I brought the car in and they said they'd look at it. They charged me $150 (not cheap) but didn't do what every other place has done, which is trump up some other massively expensive work. They were done within 3 hours, and the car is good. They were friendly, nonsexist, racially and chronologically diverse, and obviously knowledgeable as well as articulate. The shop is clean and well-organized. They were just as my friends had described. I'll be going back.
Wayne's, by the way, is tucked into the middle of a residential street, right near a Sunoco station and next to a great bakery / takeout place (see "Breadline" for review). It's right near the Baltimore Avenue 45th St. Trolley stop, so you can drop off your car and hop on a trolley: very convenient.

Wayne ripped me off when my car was being inspected--overcharged me for an oil change beyond what he had verbally quoted me. When I went to get the car, there were two people ahead of me in line complaining of the exact same problem. I think Wayne may feel he can get away with ripping off women.

I took my boyfriend's car in to get the oil changed. I called ahead of time to get a quote, but when I picked the car up the bill was for $10 more! I was given some vague explanation about certain types of cars needing different things, but they asked me for the make/model/year when I asked for the estimate.
Their prices are high to begin with, and with the "extra charges" added on, we won't be going back.

So far my experience has been terrible. They are charging me 3X more for a diagnostic than what was originally quoted, explaining that the problem requires more diagnostic testing than originally planned. So... $360 before fixing a thing, eh? Too bad I'm already in $120. Now I feel trapped. Also, beware of Joe. He made two jokes about how he could charge me extra because I said the car was silver instead of gray when he asked the color and because I'm from a different state. ON TOP OF ALL THAT, I have to contact them to see what's happening with my vehicle going into the weekend. They've had it since Wednesday morning and now it's Friday night. Way to do a simple diagnostic and NOTHING ELSE IN THREE DAYS. Unless my car runs like new and the cost doesn't continue to soar, I'm afraid I will not recommend Wayne's Garage.

I was extremely pleased. Wayne's inspected my car for a reasonable price (lower than another garage charged my husband for his car), and even did a small repair for free. (My driver's side mirror had been hit and needed to be re-attached.) The mechanics were friendly, too. The whole experience was much, much better than I would have expected in a city such as Philly, which, while fun, is not exactly Mayberry. (I've had NURSES here be less helpful and friendly than were cashiers and gas station attendants in other towns in which I've lived.) Wayne's is an exception to the rule; I recommend it highly.

got my entire clutch on a 4x4 replaced here for $2000. im from out of state and this same job at home would have cost me about $1200. but maybe thats just the cost of living here in philly because most other shops quoted me the same price. work and parts are guaranteed for 12k miles.
the dudes there are friendly and i got no BS from them, and they didnt try to rip me off telling me need this or that.
on a return trip they did not allow me to bring my own parts in for installation (pads and rotors) but understandably so. so i had to go to another shop for that, but will go back to Waynes for future repairs.

I had a good experience with a simple alternator replacement. They performed the work quickly, within the estimate for both $ and time involved, and called both with the time estimate and to tell me when it was completed. Service was friendly and professional, and they did not "recommend" any additional repairs. I like shops that do what I ask, and only tell me about other issues if I ask them to check, or it's a safety / major engine issue. It was a bit pricey, but I checked it out online and the cost for the part was Subaru's issue, not Wayne's. Thanks for a job well done.

Nice and reasonable. They won't let you get away with a "cheap" job, but given that it's a car (as opposed to hotdog or newspaper), this is probably worth any potential excess work they're charging you for. It seemed ambiguous whether I needed some of the work Wayne recommended, but I'm not an expert in these matters.

I had a great experience here. I went in for a PA state inspection, but techs found a problem with my power steering pump and repaired it the same day. Unfortunately, after replacing the pump, the issue returned... twice. Both times, Wayne's honored their commitment to high-quality service and made it right at no cost to me. Now I'm back on the road and safer than ever. Convenient location and after-hours drop box to leave your vehicle the night before. Can't recommend them enough.

I had they best experience here. Last year I bought a 04 RX-8 been having problems with it since day one. Took it to Mazda dealership to check it out and they gave me a quote on just to find out what wrong with it $400- $750. Took it to Wayne's Garage straight forward priceing and stuck to it. Even stopping mind way to tell me the engine is bad and to replace it would not be worth it because of my situation. Offering half the price of they inspection if I wanted them to stop. Told them to keep going. At they end they gave me great options to get it fixed (step by step) and/or to sell it. I'm on a extrem budget and they worked with me. In and for my best interest. Thank you Wayne's Garage for the upbove standard treatment.

Wayne and Mike, who run the office are good guys, and the mechanics did a good job. Though I went in for an inspection, there were many other potential safety issues I was not aware of. All needed repairs and their costs were fully explained before the shop started work. In all, it was a low pressure situation. I felt that Wayne's Garage simply wanted what was best for me and my car, and didn't attempt to "up-sell" as some national chains do. I've had a lot of mechanics in my life, and am pretty good at getting a vibe of the shop and it's owners and staff. Wayne's Garage seems to the a trustworthy and dependable shop for those in the Spruce Hill neighborhood and beyond.

We have tried this place several times and almost every time there has been some kind of issue. Twice now they have changed my oil without me asking or agreeing to it and then charged me for it. Most recently we had our suspension repaired, and we had to bring it back the next day because the suspension was making a loud rattling noise as soon as you started to drive the car. So I was without my car for another day and I am now not confident in their abilities to do a repair and make sure they did it right. They will also try to bully you into having more work done then you need. I was in there about a month ago for new front brake pads and specifically told them the dealer looked at the car and said I didn't need new routers. They still tried to get me to pay for new routers, claiming that the brakes would pulse if I didn't replace them. Finally they did agree to just replace the brake pads and my brakes do not pulse at all, so I saved myself $200. Lastly, make sure that what they quote for the final repair is what they actually charge you. Last time I was in there the bill was more than what I was told over the phone. NEVER GOING HERE AGAIN.
