Horrible! It nearly took a month to get my vehicle back for a simple repair. I kept getting calls..."not ready, still waiting" I paid $3,000. It still does NOT run like normal as promise. BS 0 stars for me! However I had to rate in order to state my complaint.

Capital Transmission

Mike told me straight from the get go what my options were to fix my 1989 Lincoln Town car.. He quoted me the cost to repair my transmission or to rebuild my transmission. He explained the benefits of both. Mike didn't pressure me to spend…

Almost forgot to rate these guys. It seems like every couple of years I have to bring one of the cars into Capital Transmission. Mike is always upfront about the costs and time it will take. He keeps you up-to-date with the progress on your vehicle. The whole team works hard to give you the best experience.

Ive been using this shop for over 10 years and what ive found is Mike is very honest, and has never pushed anything extra I didn't need on me. Ive had several transmissions serviced here, in fact one has 275, 000 on the original trans. If you want the job done right come here!

Just came back from there today with my van. Overall I had a great experience with Mike and his shop. My van was stuttering and Mike took it for a spin and a code check (another place wanted forty bucks just for that). He found codes that my regular mechanic didn't find and was able to order a replacement and have my van back to me in one day. He even replaced another solenoid that was going out but did not charge me. His price was fair and he didn't try to sell me something that didn't need to be done. Asked about his warranty and he said 12 months, when most places offer 30-60 days. I can't complain and would go back if I have more tranny problems in the future

Mike at Capital Transmission was wonderful!!! I drive a 07 VW Jetta and I was having major issues with my transmission. I took it to the VW dealership and they told me I needed my transmission replaced and it would cost about $7k. I took it to Mike and not only was he was able to fix my transmission for a quarter of the price, but the repair was still under warranty (which the dealership did not mention). I am glad I was able to bring it to the right place!

After having our 27 foot motorhome's transmission repaired by another ATRA dealer in Yuma, we had problems after the first three weeks (April 2014). I took it to Mike of Capital Transmission Service (when we arrived in Folsom, CA), and explained the problems. His crew looked it over, made the necessary changes and upgrades within three days. After driving it to Oregon, I can say they did an excellent job. Runs better now than before and the price was reasonable. I heartily recommend Capital Transmission Service for work on transmissions...car/truck/or RV.

Mike, the owner of Capital Transmission is awesome!! About three years ago, he rebuilt our transmission on our 2000 Toyota Sienna Minivan, for much less than a dealer was charging. Our car has had no problems for three years, but recently a problem with the transmission developed. Mike had provided us with a three year warranty, but we were just about at the three year deadline. He could very well have charged us for the repair, but he honored the warranty and repaired the transmission free of charge!! Service here is outstanding and the office staff is very friendly.
I am so happy I found Capital Transmission!

Exactly what everyone else says. RUN far away. We were in need of a new tranny on a newer car. Mike was by far cheaper with his over the phone quote. So we took our car there. After Mike took our car apart telling us it would be twice as much as quoted. Weeks went by with no updates. We had to call several times to get an answer as when it will be done. When our car was finally finished Mikes answer was "seems to be better". With a brand new tranny you would think it was "perfect". But nope. A couple days later our car had problems again! The brand new tranny went out again! Mike had to take our car to the dealer to find out if it was in fact toast. And the dealer had written on the paper that mike had added TOO much tranny fluid! So once again we had to get a rental car for another month while they replaced the tranny again taking their time. Once we finally got our car back we had nothing but problems...our ac stopped working, our CVC joint going out and the car shakes...this is a 2012 car never had any problems. When we called Mike about these problems his answer was "not my problem now".

Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!!!!!!
I brought my truck in for a leaky transmission. These guys are quick to start the work and will tell you what you want to hear and follow it with a competitive estimate....later when you come to pick up your vehicle you'll be charged a different price than was quoted.
These guys don't check their own work. Before I was even out of their parking lot, I noticed a new vibration that wasn't there before. I crawled under my truck trying to find out what was vibrating and noticed my transmission still had a leak and so I drove straight back to their shop. It was near closing time so the guy at the counter told me, "come back in 200 miles or two weeks and I'll check it then". I took my truck back at 200 miles like I was told and instead of inspecting my truck, the guy at the counter spent 15 minutes telling me what else could be causing the leak and giving prices for the additional work instead of actually doing his requested inspection.
The customer service is horrible!!! This shops priority goes to the customers that haven't paid their bill yet. My mistake was paying the bill before checking their work. I was trying to get my truck in for these guys to fix what they didn't fix the first time and was told, "we're busy these next few days but drop it off on Friday or Saturday and we'll try and get to it then."
I found the vibration myself, it was a heat shield that was pushed too close to the underbody of the truck.
My truck still has a small leak over a month later and three visits that only consisted of talking at the counter. I'm almost willing to pay another shop to fix the work these amateurs attempted to do but its hard to eat $999 after first being quoted $795 and only ended up with a smaller transmission leak.

Thought I noticed a bit of something on my garage floor so took my BMW to Capital Transmission since my friend had gone there with good results. Sure enough, some sort of seal was loose/worn...sorry, I don't speak automotive. In fact car trouble, even a flat has been known to bring me to tears. Anyway, Mike (big guy-soft heart), assured me it was no big deal and he pulled my car in right then and there and had his boys do their magic and voila!...all better. Plus he aired up my tires for me. The best part is I know the guy is not going to put the wrench to me and drain me for all I've got. I feel like he is truly honest and doesn't try to pressure me to get stuff done that doesn't need to be done...and believe me, I would be an easy target. Speaking of target, the guy is a gun fanatic and invited me out to the shooting range for some target practice. Yeah, I think I'm going to take him up on that....I believe dinner was included!

The customer service was bad. The owner never gave me a call back, for my vehicle, and could not give me a quote for three days. I had clutch problems and the shop kept putting me off for days without ANY service to my vehicle. I had to leave without service and had to take my car to another shop to get the work done.

Let's start off by saying that this is the place to go for transmission work. Im a female that went all over sacramento area for quotes. I found out about Mike and his crew from craigslist and read their good reviews on their website. Needless to say...Mike was one phone call away from listening to what you have to say, knows about your problem and give you options and plans. All other places charged me for a diagnostic and quoted me $1600-$2800 out the door. But all it was is a simple TCC solenoid with my "No reverse" intermitent problem on my 2000 323 BMW. This place had my car out in one day and it is now driving way better than when i first bought it. Thank you GOD to have found Capital Transmission! And Thank you Mike for your honest professional repair experience, because you live up to your words and work i will tell friends and family that this is the place to go. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

HORRIBLE place! My boyfriend took his truck in to get a new clutch and we had an awful experience. After 5 days, the owner finally called and said he had just started working on it because his employees were sick. 2 weeks later it was finished and the job cost over $1000. He wouldn't even give a discount for a job that took a week and a half longer than it should have. The worst part is that a day or two later, the truck wouldn't start! The owner who had "fixed" it must have broken a tiny part under the truck, so instead of getting a new one, he manually tied it back on! He ordered a new part for us, but after not hearing from him for a week, we both called and he said he was still waiting for it to come in. Turns out, we actually found the part we needed at a parts store for 92 cents! Seems real lazy that the owner of a supposedly reputable company would have to order a simple part that he could go down the street and buy for less than a dollar. I'm not big on complaining about businesses, but this was ridiculous and really put us out. I wish I could opt to give this place 0 stars.

My BMW's ZF automatic transmission began slipping when in reverse. After researching on the internet and making several phone calls, I found that my problem was very common for ZF transmissions and was most likely caused by a broken reverse clutch drum. Several local shops said they could install a rebuilt unit for $3500 - $6000. One shop told me "There is nobody in the Sacramento area who can fix your transmission - you'll have to have it replaced." I was about to give up and pay for a rebuild when I called Mike at Capital Transmissions. When I described the car's problem, Mike said - "Sounds like a broken reverse clutch drum, I've fixed a few of those." He quoted me a price of about $1800 unless he found additional problems when he had the transmission apart. Two working days later, Mike called to say the car was ready and my total bill was $1819. This has been the best major automotive repair I've ever had- I strongly recommend Capital Transmissions. They are knowledgeable, fast, honest, reliable, and reasonable.

Honest, Fair, Very Reasonable prices. I usually do my own work on all my cars, so I know the cost of parts and labor time. Their prices are in most cases better than buying retail. Their labor times are quicker than doing the labor myself, so the cost of labor is very honest and sometimes surprisingly quick in a good way. Love this place. They'll have my business for a long time. I can't recommend Capital Transmission enough.

I took my car here for a clutch replacement. Mike and his staff did a great job and also adjusted the clutch cable at no charge when I took it back many months later. My brother has also had work done here. Good service and no hassle. Definitely recommend them!

Mike did a great job for us. Our car had what later has been recognized as a common computer failure which caused a transmission failure. But ours was one of the first to fail and Mike had to use some creative diagnostics to figure it out. As a result we needed to use the warranty and Mike honored it without question. Thanks to Mike our experience went as smooth as a transmission failure and repair can go.

So I had my truck towed to Capital Transmission because of the high ratings here on Google, then to find out that their service is not good. The owner Mike would not give me a straight price and would keep throwing random options on what to do... I just wanted it fixed. Also, from when they pulled the truck off the tow truck, it somehow lost drive gear... it was running and driving when it left my house. They wanted way too much to fix it, so I had it towed somewhere else, later to find out they chopped my cross member off and i now looks like a hack-job. Also, it was dumping oil all over the tow truck. Would NOT recommend Capital Transmission. Save yourself the cash. And when ever someone writes a bad review, who ever is writing back, needs to write back professionally.

Mike stands behind his work! I brought in a busted throw-out bearing on a clutch Mike installed a little more than a year ago (the warranty was one year) and he fixed it gratis. I don't think you can say much better about an auto repair shop or the guy who runs it.
