A family friend recommended this shop when we thought my alternator was out. When I told them my issues, they suggested a diagnostic instead. Sure enough, it was not the alternator, and was in fact a much easier, cheaper fix! It felt great to have someone know my vehicle well and respect me as a customer. I began going to Norman Automotive in May, 2011. I still take my car there and have no complaints at all! I'm surprised by these 2 negative reviews. I would think the best time to price a repair would be BEFORE the repair is made. Many times I've purchased something in a store, then see it for less the following week, but that doesn't make the store a bad store. Prior to NA, I went to a different repair shop in Norman, one that is listed on here with 5 stars, and I can tell you the oil changes got more and more expensive and then the final straw was that I was told I needed some other repairs totaling over $1000. I just had this gut feeling and it turned out those repairs were not needed at all. Something that is VERY VALUABLE to me is that I TRUST Jimmy & John at Norman Automotive. As a single woman, I can tell you I've been ripped off at many places, but not here! When I first began to go here, I called around to compare prices and NA was always the cheapest. I don't even bother to call around any more. Norman Automotive has done small to large repairs on my autos and I am a satisfied customer!

One of the best automotive rep...

One of the best automotive repair shops I have ever been to. I've lived all over the country and found only 1 that compares to Norman Automotive, Inc. They are honest, fair and great for my wallet. I always feel great sending my wife there, as I know that she nor I will get taken. I've even priced checked them before on a major service and they came in $200 cheaper than 5 other shops I called and $600 cheaper than a dealer. Great service, great prices and great mechanics. Finding a better full service automotive would be a real challenge and not worth your time when you could just go there. Thank you Norman Automotive for the service, trust and care you give both my car and myself!

I actually bought my car from Jimmy here at Norman Automotive. He was honest with me about the car and I appreciate that. He has honored his word in making sure that what he told me about the car was true, and has worked diligently, above and beyond to fix an annoying ac problem. I hear him talk with other customers and tell them the truth about what it's going to cost to fix the car and whether it is worth it or not. I highly recommend this business. I will be a customer for as long as I am in this area.

New to Norman last year, our A/C went out on the move here... Excellent work, honest explanation, quick service, and even picked me up to get the car when it was finished. Returned today with a tire losing air. They plugged it at no cost, since I will need a new tire. I highly recommend Norman Automotive you'll appreciate the honesty and service.

A good, honest mechanic is hard to find, but John and Jimmy are definitely that. They've always been straight with me and at times, they haven't even charged me for certain things. I won't take vehicles anywhere else. They actually treat you like family and not just another customer. These guys are awesome!

New to town I needed to find a place to perform the routine maintenance on my fiance's and I's car. To be honest with you I stumbled upon this place just by chance as it is less than a half of mile from my place. Having said that, after my experience with this place if I were to move tomorrow to the other side of town, I would still bring our vehicles to Jimmy and Norman Automotive, they're that good.
The customer service is incredible. I had an appointment for 10am and had some things come up at work and I had to push it back to a little bit later. They were great enough to allow me to come in @ 11 even though they had a busy day. I was only getting an oil change so they had me take a seat while they got it in and out within about 20 minutes. Not only were they extremely fast, but Jimmy even offered me the remote to watch whatever I wanted to watch in their waiting room. Not a huge deal I know, but a small touch of customer service that makes me feel comfortable. In the short period of time that I was in there waiting for the oil change I witnessed 2 regular customers come in and they were greeted by name and treated in a very mom and popish old fashioned way (great compliment), very comforting. I also heard the gentleman advise 1 of the customers to shop around for an after market part and he would be happy to install it for him. How many mechanics/body shops have you been to where they ask you to shop around to save you money?! Again this was very comforting and reassuring that I was in the right place.
I was only here for about 20 minutes but I have already decided to bring my car (I was taking my fiance's this trip) back next week to have them service it. In the brief time of 20 minutes they assured me that A.) they work quickly B.) they value their customers and treat them like people want to be treated & C.) perhaps the most important, they're good people. He had an opportunity to show a guy that he cared and said look "if an aftermarket upgrade is going to cost you the same as replacing the factory part you might as well upgrade, why don't you look around for the best deal and I'll call you when I've got a quote on the factory replacement. If you want to do the after market upgrade I'll be more than happy to put it on for you. I don't know about you, but I think most mechanics/body shop would have loved to supply that after market part with whatever % markup they could add on top of it.
Bottom line is this place is great. In 20 minutes they convinced me that they are THE place to take my cars in all of Norman. I will definitely be back. And they also sell one of their customers all natural honey in their store too! Honey is delicious and it further proves my point about how these guys treat their customers. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Amazing service!! We have brought both our cars to them throughout the years and they are always very helpful and honest.. Recently we took our car to another company, since we moved out of Norman, who gave a huge list of repairs.. We decided to get a 2nd opinion and take it to Norman automotive. Instead of the $1500 the other place wanted, they told us what was really wrong with the car & fixed it for a very reasonable price! We will never go anywhere else while we are living here in Oklahoma!

It's a rip off, and extremely rude attitude towards customers. My battery died and they charged me a total of $233 including $198 for part and $35 for labor. The exact same battery is $120 at Auto Zone after tax, and we contacted other two auto repairs in town, one charges $150 for part and $20 for labor, the other charges $170 for part and $20 for labor. When I asked the manager Jimmy why they are charging much more, he said that's the way the run business. He told me that I knew nothing about business and turned me away with a $35 check and said he didn't want to waste time on me. I felt humiliated and deeply hurt by the manager Jimmy. I would urge you to stay away from this business if you want to avoid an very unpleasant auto repair experience.

I wish I could put into words how much I suggest customers steer clear of this place. Having written a letter to them detailing how I believed we were completely taken advantage of, and receiving no response, I feel it's my duty to warn others of their unethical business practices.
We were advised to get a complete engine overhaul, costing us $2800, and when we left the shop, the car was in the worst state it has ever been. Check engine light has been on since, catalytic convertor is out, CO2 sensors out, idle control out, struts busted, and a bad oil plug leak. What can I say? The car worked great beforehand, then the timing belt broke, and now she's a sad little car that had a lot of promise before these awful mechanics and their shoddy repair work put their hands on her. I've been heartbroken over the whole ordeal, but received nothing but "Not our responsibility" from them. Please, please, do not take your car to them. I heard in the waiting room them recommending to another girl to get a complete engine overhaul and I wish I had gone out to her and advised her to get a second opinion. I often wonder if we ever even needed an engine overhaul. Could've been a simple, cheaper repair. I don't trust anything they did or advised. STEER CLEAR.

I have taken my car to Norman Automotive ever since I had my car here starting my sophomore year. Their knowledge and customer service is really great. I know whenever my car has a problem I can trust them to get it done quickly, satisfactorily, and for a low cost. And now that they are a certified shop, the work they do has a warranty. I think if you're looking for a good shop that will help you out for a low price, this is the place to go! I will miss being able to take my car here since I will be graduating this May and leaving Norman. Thank you, Norman Automotive for being a great shop and taking care of my car.

So far we know what the problem is. Waiting on extended warranty people to do their part. Norman Automotive is doing all they can to get my problem solved! It's the other people that are holding up progress! But that is to be expected ~ warranty people have already got their money, now they're going to have to spend some. Hopefully it isn't on of those things that is in the loophole that the warranty people know and don't tell you! More to follow!

I took my CRV in for an oil change and asked Jimmy if he could check the tires (I knew they were bad, but wanted his opinion). He told me two needed to be replaced and I asked him for a quote. I told him I usually bought my tires at Hibdon's and gave them a hard time if they didn't want to honor their warranty. He told me to check with them before getting them from him to see if they would take care of me. I did as he suggested and they gave me 50% credit on tires I had abused, so I got two new tires. HOWEVER, I realized that Hibdon's "regular" full price would have been almost $100 MORE than Norman Automotive's! Honest and great prices! It doesn't get better than that for GREAT customer service!

Few things compare to getting quality service, especially when you're a young woman needing repairs. NA treated me respectfully and showed they knew their stuff. When my repair ended up being something only the dealer could do, they made sure I had all the info in writing so I couldn't be swindled. I hope I don't need any more repairs but if I do, you can bet I'll be back!
