Amazing service! Low prices! Unbeatable warranties! These people genially care and want to do a great job. I had struts and shocks replaced on my Challenger and I had new tires put on. Steve saved me a significant amount of money compared to the dealership prices! I strongly recommend Midas in Norman for all your vehicle needs!

They Don't want to do the work

If you need anything more than a battery or oil change don't go to this store. I took my truck in to get new ball joints, new bleeder screws for my breaks. I've done the ball joint job once since I've owned the truck. I dropped it off at 9 o'clock one day for them to work on the next. I get a call 24 hours later. They don't want to do the work. So I have come get it, find a new shop. This shop is nothing but a waste of time. I wish I could give it no stars.

I've taken my car there about ...

I've taken my car there about 10 times now. After trying 3 other rip off places in Norman (Mike's Tire and Auto was one), I found Midas to be consistent and never felt overcharged or ripped off. Had all 4 brakes done, then a dead alternater, melted water pump replaced, belts, ball bearing replaced from hitting a curb, a couple tune ups. I first went there because my gf took her car there by herself, thinking something major was wrong (and told them so), but it a simple fuel problem and they charged her nothing. The front guy at the counter is very friendly, told me once I could put a couple repairs off for a while (and I did). Once they did more repairs than the estimate and the price went up without them checking with me first. Besides that, I'd recommend them but can't guarantee you'll get the same results as I have. Of course you just have to find the right car repair place for you.

Be Cautious

I had them look at my car. They said 4 parts needed replacing and gave me a price. Initially, I thought ok, but after consulting a person more knowledgeable about cars than myself, I found that all 4 parts might not need to be replaced as I was only getting a code (Check Engine light) for one part. I called and said don't do anything, I want to shop around. They returned my call and, magically, only 1 part needed to be replaced, the price was about half, and they'd have to order the part. After that, I didn't want to have them work on my car. I can say that they were friendly and didn't hassle me when I said I'd be taking my car somewhere else.

Having lived in Norman for the past four years, you could say that I have made my rounds to the various car shops. Some started out OK, but always found a way to disappoint me whether it was with shady diagnoses, outrageous prices or calling for unnecessary work to be done. Midas is the first place I have been where they have taken care of me on issues big and small without cleaning out my bank account.
Coming from a small town where the shop owners and mechanics knew my family and always worked out deals on my crappy cars, it has been a long haul to find someone that compares to that caliber of service. I am pleased to say that this Norman Midas comes pretty darn close.
The manager always remembers me and my husband and is great at putting things in layman's terms and not using his superior knowledge against you. If he breaks it all down for you and you choose to opt out of something, he may disagree, but he has never pressured me to do or pay for anything. He genuinely cares about your car and will be honest if he thinks you should scrap it or put the time and money into it. The owner is equally impressive and obviously works at keeping his staff happy. He has even helped work on my cars and complimented my Pink Floyd CD that was playing when they turned on my car. Good taste in music is obviously a plus.
The wait can take longer than some of the other places I have gone in Norman, but that was usually on a Saturday when they had a long line of oil changes. They have plenty of coffee, magazines and a TV going to keep you occupied while you wait, not to mention, comfy and clean couches and chairs to lounge in. Midas is incredibly thorough and reasonably priced for the quality of service you receive. They are the only mechanic I go to in Norman and the first one I suggest to anyone looking for a friendly, knowledgeable and honest shop!

Went in for a standard oil change. 4 months later and I'm paying to replace my oil pan because they cross threaded the drain plug.

I can't say enough good things about Midas on West Lindsey, and especially about Steve the manager. I'm a young single person with no nearby family and very little car experience as a new driver, and I absolutely have been cheated by mechanics who have taken advantage of my lack of knowledge--but not Midas. They've done right by me, every single time.
Let me give you a few examples:
-- The first time I visited in October, I showed up without an appointment for brake maintenance that I had already been sternly warned about at my last oil change and had been neglecting for about four extra months. Unfortunately, by ignoring it and letting the problem get worse, I had worn down all the way through the brakepads and into the rotors. While I was waiting for the repair, I texted my dad all the information I had learned about my brakes and my dad estimated the cost. My dad's estimate was within $8 of the actual price Midas gave me. That's how I knew they were honest.
-- In November/December I had an intermittent problem starting my car which appeared to be electrical. Sometimes it would start if I waited an hour, and sometimes it would be fine for a week and then fail every time I tried it for a whole day. These kinds of problems are maddeningly hard to diagnose, and the car happened to start normally the first time I took it in. They made a conservative, cost-effective choice to clean up my electrical connections and flush out my fuel pumps with cleaner. The second time I took it in, it happened to not be starting, and upon a more thorough look they were able to correctly diagnose and replace my starter. Steve the manager felt bad that it took two visits to make the proper diagnosis, so he wrote me a coupon for a free oil change.
-- Three days ago my accelerator and my Drive gear stopped working in north Oklahoma City. I had to make a choice between towing it to somewhere close or towing it 34 miles back home to Norman. I chose Midas in Norman (a $190 tow) and I'm so glad I did. It turned out to be the Big One: transmission failure. Yikes. My dad told me to be prepared to pay $2700-$3000 for a transmission rebuild by a specialist. I got a rental car and spent a night waiting for Midas's estimate of what it would cost in-house while they worked through a backlog of customers who got there before me (the parking lot was so full on a Monday at 8:30 am that some people were parallel parking around the building!). I went in the next day for the estimate and learned that, instead of a rebuild, they were going to use their connection to a junkyard that sells guaranteed used parts to replace the transmission. For a $1000 guaranteed used part and 8 hours of labor, my estimate was $1848. When I told my dad, he said I must have a guardian angel watching over me. I do have one! His name is Steve.

This Midas is my favorite shop I've ever been to. They always do an amazing job, and I never feel like I'm being taken advantage of. The manager Steve is the absolute man and he always works to get you the best deals possible. I won't go anywhere else in Norman.

These men are phenomenal! I just moved here in August from North Carolina and was skeptical about trying out a new mechanics shop! However, I read their reviews and every good thing that people say about this shop is true! They are awesome=) You can tell that they care about their customers and want you to get the best service for the best price you possibly can. Their manager Steve is a great man and makes you feel right at home! I could not have chosen a better place to take my Zoe to get serviced! The best auto mechanics shop I have ever been too!

Very good customer service. Went to them because my car would shake every time I hit the breaks. They got to my car quickly and told me exactly what was wrong, which was I need my rotors machined. They could have also said my break pads were gone and I would have believed them because that's what I thought it was. They fixed the rotors in about an hour and I was on my way. The car breaks smoothly now and I am very happy with the service. I will recommend them to anyone with car issues.

Steve and the rest of his staff members make you wanna fake a car problem just so you can go to Midas. That's how good they are.
