Since the Woodlands location closed, I started coming to this one, even though it's a good 25 minutes from my house. It's totally worth the drive, though, as the staff are friendly, helpful, and not condescending. They offer a teacher's discount, as well as coupons and offers through Yelp for checking in. There are good reasons why customers should take care when dealing with automotive mechanics. Most folks don't understand the complexity of today's cars and can't easily diagnose problems themselves. An obvious symptom like a car pulling to the right should mean an alignment would fix the problem, but a dishonest mechanic might lead you to believe there's more than a simple fix needed. The following is a timeline of my experience with C.A.R.S.
- Brought my Kia Optima to C.A.R.S. based on good Google reviews and it was near my home
- Was told they don't do alignments, but would diagnose the problem anyway
- Learned they had sent my car to NTB for alignment while I was out getting coffee
- I was told the alignment would set a baseline whereby they could determine if the issue was greater than needing an alignment
- After the alignment, the car stilled pulled to the right and I was told I needed new struts and shocks, and likely a Camber Bolt kit to fix the issue
- The estimate for all work was $1850.00 (not including the camber bolt kit)
I agreed after-the-fact to pay for the alignment at NTB ($145) and the "diagnostic" C.A.R.S. did on my car ($115), but was skeptical about needing new struts and shocks (I certainly didn't think $1850 was a reasonable price). After some quick research and a few phone calls, I determined that I could find someone else to fix my car. Enter Beck & Masten Kia in Tomball. It took me a few weeks to get an appointment, but they fixed my car in a matter of hours. Here's what they did to fix it:
- THEY ALIGNED THE CAR
- I paid $92 ($59 for the alignment, $19.95 for tire rotation, and $15.95 for some routine scheduled maintenance).
That's a difference of $1758.00 that I didn't have to spend, folks! Perhaps the mechanics at C.A.R.S. were well intentioned, I can't say, but it's clear they are inept or worse, crooks. Furthermore, I have a print out from NTB of the initial alignment done and it shows specified ranges that were completely ignored, and before and after alignments that didn't change. What kind of idiots work at NTB? I showed this print out to the mechanic at Kia and he just shook his head and laughed.
Here's the lesson folks: ALWAYS DO YOUR RESEARCH before agreeing blindly paying for repairs that seem expensive and unnecessary. C.A.R.S' slogan is "Welcome back to affordable car care." They must've taken their cues from the folks who dreamed up the "Affordable Care Act (Obamacare)!" My advice: DON'T BRING YOUR BUSINESS TO C.A.R.S.

Took my car in two days ago, I just needed an over all inspection on the car just to make sure everything was running right nothing major. Was driving home from work the next night and the car starts shaking and making all types of noises I have never heard before and it won't let me speed up past 40-45!!! Thank god I didn't get onto the highway... Worst people to take your car to for anything I live in the area and heard bad things about them already but I read the Yelp reviews and thought why not give it a shot.. Worst decision I've ever made (and I've made some bad ones) Needed nothing but minor work done to it now I can't even drive it!!! Can't wait to have to take a day off of work to spend a whole day at my mechanics so they can tell me what these idiots did!!! Should've just gone to the people I normally go to but being that they are only less than five minutes away I thought it would be more convenient boy was I oh so wrong if I could give them something lower than a 1 I would very disappointed to have such a dishonest business in this community.

When my AC went out, I brought my car here. Preparing to hear that it was going to cost hundreds of dollars and one of my kidneys to repair, I was pleasantly surprised! It was just a belt and an easy fix. This place could easily have made repairs that weren't necessary and cost me a lot more money. The very definition of integrity in practice! I have been trying to find a reliable place to take my cars since I moved out here 8 years ago. Finally! I have been going to C.A.R.S. for a bout a year and a half. Started with small repairs where I was given straightforward info on any issues, and recently they did a couple of major fixes to my 1971 Chevelle. They got the convertable top working and the ac finally running along with resolving some longtime leaking issues. Jeremy was the mechanic and Brian was great with all the rest. C.A.R.S. in Spring has served our family well for 4+ years now. We are always treated fairly and with excellent customer service! They provide a shuttle if we need it. C.A.R.S. has always bent over backwards to give us the best deal for all work we have had done on several cars. The work they provide is warrantied, but I have not once had to use the warranty. We highly recommend using C.A.R.S for your auto repairs.

The place was awesome! I needed to get my Oil drain plug removed and replaced because the bolt head was too stripped to remove myself. I tried, couldn't do it. My friends and coworkers tried, couldn't do it. Jiffy Lube couldn't do it. I came here after leaving Jiffy Lube and was helped by Jackson and Jeremy. There wasn't a wait, they got to my car right away. They were really helpful and understanding, nice guys. They got the plug out when nobody else could and even used the oil I had bought to replace it myself. Now I finally have clean oil in my car. Definitely coming back here again the next time I need help or have a question And the lobby is much better than Jiffy lube.
