I came here a month or so ago to get my driver's side mirror fixed. Since I live in Isla Vista, my mirror has been broken a couple of times due to people running into it. I have gotten it fixed twice in Los Angeles, and the garage over there made me replace the full mirror for about $120.
When it broke again, I decided to look for a more competitive price here in Santa Barbara. I wrote down the names of three different auto repair places, and Hughes Auto Body was my first stop. I was helped almost immediately and showed the damage made to my car. The mechanic offered to fix the mirror with just two screws, at no charge.
They did not make me pay anything at all, and my mirror is perfectly fixed! I truly had an awesome experience here, and will definitely come again. You can tell that this business truly cares about its clients rather than just trying to make money.

I just recently got my bumper repaired here and was thoroughly impressed and grateful for the amazing service and attention the staff provided me! Vanessa was able to get me in and out in a couple of days and handled all the paperwork with my insurance company. After taking my vehicle home, I noticed a minor scratch above the headline and honestly could not remember if it had been there prior to me dropping it off. I called over to ask about it and they had me bring it in and repaired it free of charge! The team here takes their job seriously and produced high quality work backed with an amazing warranty. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to get quality work or repairs done to their vehicles! Thanks again :)

These folks not only give great friendly service, they pay extra attention to detail. Took my Camry to them because someone smashed my front bumper. When I picked up my car, (a mere 2 days later) it looked even better than it did before the accident. They even cleaned my headlight lamps and made them look like new again. Car was super clean and detailed inside and out. VERY impressed. I HIGHLY recommend this shop.

A couple months ago, Julie and the team at Hughes Auto Body were angels who helped me get my car back and running after a crash. I was so shaken that Julie even volunteered to drive me back to my apartment. The staff there are so genuinely friendly, and they certainly go the extra mile to make sure their customers are taken care of. They kept me informed of updates on my auto repair status, called to have the Enterprise rental agent pick me up because it was raining that day, and walked me through every single step of the process. When I got my car back, it was completely washed, detailed on the inside, and looked like brand new again! I am beyond thankful for their help with everything.

For the first time in my 54 years I had to take my brand new Chevy Cruze in for repair due to a pretty serious front end collision. The whole process was painless. All State recommended Hughes, no haggling and estimates, the rental car came to Hughes and gave me my rental, the staff kept me informed and when it was finished they called me. I drove back to Hughes, they called Enterprise and gave me my car that looked brand new. They are also dog friendly and spoiled my year old pitbull mix with lots of treats and love.
The whole thing couldn't have been easier. Thanks to Vanessa and the whole gang.

Hughes Auto Body has repaired both my cars a few times now and every time I have been 100% satisfied with their work. The staff is extremely helpful and efficient. They are all genuinely friendly and have a great sense of humor. I was offered a ride back home after dropping off my car when I didn't have a rental. The quality of their work is superb. They are highly attentive to detail and are thorough in their repair process. I was always notified and updated of the status of the repairs via text and phone. My cars were super clean and shiny every time I went to pick them up; they even cleaned my tires and made them look nice and shiny! This is hands down the utmost, most qualified, efficient, friendly and caring auto body shop in town! I have and will continue to recommend Hughes Auto Body Shop to my friends and acquaintances!

Have repaired my G35 twice in 18 mos at Hughes due to accidents. The first was a near total loss due to a highway chain reaction. Hughes repair was perfect and within their stated timeline. One of the headlight units failed recently and I had them look at it since it had been replaced in the repair. They found the problem - a burned out bulb. - replaced it and washed the car all at no charge. I have complete trust in them.

I started the new year with a bang - someone hit my parked mini van and broke the passenger door. My insurance company geico, directed me to Hughes auto body in Goleta. Having never used them before I was a bit skeptical at first. However when I went there and met with the folks, I felt I had made the right choice.
The staff (Bonnie, Cesar) that I worked with were super friendly, responsive and efficient.
The car was done quickly and they even fixed a few little things that I hadn't even asked for. The quality of work looks great!
I would recommend this shop next time u are in an unfortunate predicament that requires an auto body shop.

They seemed friendly and upbeat at first. Their quality control sucks. The work they did for me had glaring deficiencies. Embarrassing. They addressed the issue about 90%. Wasn't worth going back yet again for them to do it right. I'd only go back if I had no other choices. TIP: check your work before it goes back out the door.

HUGHES: Maybe the best in Santa Barbara, but far from perfect.
Let me first state that my expectations were VERY high before coming to Hughes. I religiously detail my truck, including waxing and claying- I know every dent, scratch, and paint chip like it was my own child. Read on for an accurate review and confessions from a true car nut- myself.
So when someone backed into my front bumper (in a parking garage where I intentionally parked out of the way on an upper level), I was less then thrilled. Luckily the offender left a note and I pursued repairs through their insurance. Unfortunately, Santa Barbara has a less than stellar selection of auto body shops, but Hughes had the highest ratings on Yelp so I decided on them.
As a side note, I previously had my bumper cover replaced before by some other nimrod that grazed my car in a parking garage. A Toyota dealership (Toyota of Carlsbad) body shop did the repairs in this instance and did a phenomenal job- they replaced the bumper cover with an OE new cover that was painted to match exactly to factory paint specs. Their masking of the grille was flawless, with a clear top coat applied that was smooth as silk- this is my standard of comparison to which I judge Hughes' work by.
Hughes repairs, while speedy, fell short of the mark of professionalism and quality that I have previously experienced. First, whereas the Toyota dealer body shop replaced my whole bumper cover with a new piece, Hughes only spot-fixed the damaged area. Both repair places prices were the same, the damage was similar, but I felt like Hughes had much less value as far as repair quality. This is just the tip of the iceberg for these guys.
Hughes' masking around a plastic inset in my bumper was uneven, with some tight corners covered in paint when they shouldn't have been. This indicates laziness and haste; the masking should be PERFECT- any quality body shop should know that the devil is in the details and that preparation of the painted surface is key. Also the clear coat they applied was rough in areas that had tight contours and curves, a far cry from the glass-like surface of my previous bumper paint. There is also some faint dust and debris that was trapped under the clear coat, an indication that a Hughes employee was not cautious enough and improperly cleaned the surface before the final coat.
The icing on the cake, though, was the dust all over the driver's seat in my truck when I arrived to pick it up- tisk tisk. At least put a plastic cover over the seat- come on Hughes! You didn't think I would notice?
In the end, the results were good enough and not worth demanding for a re-paint, so I settled. For me, Hughes is not good enough to recommend, but if you're in Santa Barbara and in a pinch, their repairs are satisfactory. Also, while their customer service was good, I wish the final product was a little better- after all, I'm stuck with my car, but not the body shop it was fixed at.

I didn't make it past the quote. They held my car for 24 hours in order to get me a quote. They made a time it would be ready, it wasn't. There were different people all the time I had to talk to, the manager couldn't care less. After getting a crazy high quote, I asked for my car back. They had diassembled the bumper, it was in far worse shape than I had brought it in, and lost all the bolts to it. I needed the pieces in the bumper for my repair. I went to another place, "A Quality Auto Body & Paint", who came in thousands less on a quote he did in 10 minutes and he finished the job in 7 days, and had to piece meal the bumper parts back to reuse, not having those "lost" parts from Hughes. Renee, was inventive in working with the more damaged part that Hughes couldn't care less about - the bumper that Hughes caused more damage to. So happy I didn't use Hughes.

I've worked in the service industry in various capacities long enough to know how much of a difference these reviews can make, and to know exactly what separates regular customer service from rave-worthy customer service. So I can confidently say I would not consider giving anything less than 5 stars to Hughes Auto Body, and wish I could tack on a few more.
So read on for my tale of woe, or cut to the bottom for the key points, but if you're interested in seeing how this place operates you'll pick the former.
The front end of my new car suffered some damage after an animal collision (sad enough in itself) that required the whole bumper to be replaced. I did some quick but thorough reviewing, and then going through Geico Auto Repair Express in my Geico policy, I found that I could talk to a claims adjuster right there at the body shop, drop my car off, and get a rental car through Enterprise all at once. Sounds pretty good, so I phoned up Hughes.
Walt the proprietor came out and introduced himself (a very nice gesture for any business) and inspected the car himself along with the Geico adjuster. I was on my way and feeling confident in what felt like record time, important since I only had my lunch hour that day to make the drop-off. (If you're a Geico member, that's just one sweeter reason to look into going to Hughes. Talk about SIMPLE!)
Cut forward: I got an update shortly after, that being a brand new car, a couple of the necessary parts the shop needed were back-ordered as more of the dealerships these days aren't stocking the parts in-house. I wouldn't mind so much since Geico was covering my rental, but I had a 350+ mile road trip coming up the following week, and I naturally didn't want to take the little rental. I wanted my baby. Especially because I'd planned like crazy for this trip for months and months, and having my car to take up was essential, you know how it is. Upon hearing my plight, Walt basically went into Action-Hero-Mode. He got on the horn with the parts distributors and lit fires under all their asses to track down those parts and make sure they got there ASAP.
Longer story short(er)... Just as I was about to have a nervous breakdown about my trip falling apart, I get a call from Walt late in the afternoon before the day I was supposed to leave: The last of the parts came in. He and his crew made sure to have my car not only ready and waiting by the time I got off work so I could hit the road as planned, but I'd swear they had every inch of it cleaner and shinier than when I first drove it off the lot.
Now you might say I was foolish for taking my car in anywhere on short notice before the trip, blah blah blah, but let's be realistic... accidents are by nature *unexpected*, and you can't predict parts shortages.
So lets just put it this way: Walt saved the day, and my entire trip. His crew not only does damn good work, but he went above and beyond in keeping on top of the situation to take care of me and keeping me informed about the status of the whole operation. From here on out, as long as I live in the Santa Barbara/Goleta area, I don't plan on going anywhere else, and I'm recommending these guys to anyone who asks.
It is not a common thing to make a first-time customer feel like they are true VIP, but these guys did it like they just don't know any other way.

Recommended by my insurance agent. My car was on the receiving end of a hit and run. A little less than a foot long scratch and a small quarter size dent over the rear wheel 1/4 panel. I worked with a gentleman named Walt. He was very understanding of my situation and had his colleagues buff out the scratch first, and then recommended me a paintless auto dent specialist.
He then gave me a quote for a more thorough 100% fix. They definitely are not there to cheat you out of your money and glad they gave me cheaper alternatives first. They made me feel very comfortable and better about the accident. Thanks Hughes!

Walt, who I think is the service manager, was rude, argumentative and hung up on my sister after she tried to figure out why he wasn't returning her calls as promised. She was told he would call back with an estimate. When she didn't hear from him she went into the store. 20 minutes before closing she found guys drinking beer in the shop and nobody around to help her. She called back the next day and Walt told her he had already started her car without an estimate or her approval. It was disassembled to the point that she could not take it to another body shop. I believe that Hughes did this on purpose to ensure the business for their shop. It was to be paid by the insurance so once it was disassemble it would have cost her a lot of money to move the car. When my sister confronted Walt with this he hung up on her.
Do business here at your own risk. I recommend John Briggs or any other body shop in town!

It's always scary and worrisome after an accident. The first thing I did was to check body shops around with high reviews...I came across this one. Glad I did! They are VERY VERY nice and you feel like they are you're friends:) comforting! I was somewhat patient lol, it almost took a month for my car to get fixed but it was because of my insurance:/ but I really recommend these guys!!! They are AWESOME!! YOu will be in good hands:) all the girls are nice :) my Nissan was good:)

My experience was great with Hughes auto body. After getting in a slight accident they went above and beyond to repair my car for just the deductible. Not only did my front bumper look better than before the accident, but the whole process was quick and painless. They took care of everything and made sure to keep me updated on the process. I am so glad they were recommended by the insurance company and will definitely be going back from now on. Julie (I believe her name was) provided me with the best service any auto shop has provided. I have had Hughes do work on 3 different cars, and I would not go anywhere else. Their work is excellent and gets done quickly, in most cases only a couple of days. Walt is friendly and fair, and hasd always gone the extra mile for us. Not sure what the whole story was with J's sister, but I can't see it being worthy of a 1 star rating. Regardless of what happened on the phone, I am sure her sister's car was expertly repaired an returned to her in great condition. Thanks Walt for all you have done for us.

I just had was my second "chance" to get some work done with Hughes Auto Body. They are efficient, honest and do quality work. Walt is excellent and knows how to run his shop well. The cars came back looking just as they did before the accidents, actually even better as the Hughes staff washes them and dresses your tires for you. Great quality service. They're my go-to shop for sure.
