terrible

They do not stand behind there service, even when its still under warrany! Had my car up there at least 3 times before warrany was up. They kept telling me it was fixed. Which it was not. Took my car up there and they said they would take care of it. Instead they put over 300 miles on the car, check engine light came on, And my steering wheel is no longer lined up. Would not recommend!! Laura

Called about my transmission shifting funky, took it in ten minutes later, Don immediately took it for a test drive, came back to tell me it was just a dirty mass airflow sensor! Didn't charge me a dime. Went to Oreillys, $9 later my vehicle ran great! These guys are hard to find, guys you can trust that is... thanks again!

Will not ever go back! Had our son's car towed there on a Friday mid afternoon and it wasn't until we called the 3rd time on Tuesday that they even looked at it to see what's wrong. I understand if the shop was busy, but at least communication would have been helpful. They quoted 3300.00 when went right down the road for 1400.00. Stay away!

Lee's Summit Transmission was recommended to me by a friend when the transmission on my vehicle bit the dust. This place is a smaller, family-run operation and although quaint in appearance, it is big on providing great service, excellent pricing and treating their customers right. The first thing that caught my attention is they do not charge for diagnosing the problem with your transmission; it's free. Afterward, they give you the option of installing a new, rebuilt or used transmission. I wasn't willing to spend close to 3000.00 bucks on a new transmission, so I opted for a used one. Another big plus is that they put a 6-month parts & labor warranty on the transmissions (at least the used ones) that they install. (Other places I called only provided a 90 day warranty). I had to wait 3 days for my (used) transmission to come in. They assured me that they inspect the transmission and make sure it's in tip-top shape and that their supplier is very dependable. They say any transmission that does not meet specifications will be returned and another will be sought out. To make a long story short, my transmission and clutch were replaced, car runs like new and this fine establishment allowed me to make them two payments so I could avoid putting it all on my credit card. Very fine establishment. My new clutch and (used) transmission with installation cost me approximately 1400.00 (tax included). It would have cost me approximately 5000.00 had I gone through the dealer.
Lee's Summit Transmission is the place to go!

This transmission shop explained clearly the problem and how it needed to be repaired. Their honestly is refreshing, one of the few repair shops I would highly recommend.

Holy crap! I cannot express my frustration with words. First i was told my clutch would be replaced in 1 day, two tops... Took 5 days. They told me there was a leak on something they didn't touch was was leaking... THE TRANNY WAS LEAKING. So now they want me to pay 300 to fix it. What the hell?

These guys are great, took my vehicle in for funky shifting. Don took my vehicle for a drive , meanwhile I'm scared of what he might find... comes back to tell me it's just a dirty mass airflow sensor! Didn't charge me a dine. You bet my vehicle will be going back for any maintenance or issues I might have in the future!

Visiting from Minnesota. Pulling a heavy trailer with my Envoy and son-in-law suggested a supplemental transmission cooler. I stopped by Lee's Summit Transmission yesterday afternoon and they spent time with me explaining all of options available to me and the costs. They were quite busy, but they took the time to help me make the right decision. I explained that I needed the vehicle soon and they promised to get to it the next morning. I left it there over night and it was done in the morning as promised. The cost was FAR less than I thought it would be and I was on my way. These are very friendly and honest people. They even gave me advice about hauling trailers and sent me to a nearby trailer store to have an inexpensive anti-sway arm added to my rig. This turned out to be excellent advice. I am indebted to them for their expertise and help. Don't believe disgruntled people. This is a good shop with very knowledgeable transmission specialists.

Around November 2013, we purchased a transmission from Lee's Summit Transmission. Within a week of the completed transmission rebuild, the transmission leaked all the fluid and burned up when we were on a trip. We had to haul the car back to Kansas City to return it to the shop. Even though my husband knew that the clutch pack had been entirely burned up, they decided to not take apart the transmission and instead replaced only a clutch sensor. We immediately began having problems with it once we got it back but did not return it to the shop because we were hoping that it wouldn't get worse. Within a few weeks it was evident that, while never entirely missing gears, the transmission would regularly slip between gears. We returned the car to the shop and they told us to return it and they would fix it. We got it back this weekend and it is now Tuesday and my husband just discovered a massive transmission fluid leak. They are willing to fix it, but we now doubt their ability to do a quality job as this will be the fourth time that the car has been given to them to repair. UPDATE (6/17): The car has been returned to us and we have now been told that we were mistaken and the transmission is not leaking, that it must have been the power steering fluid. We know that it is not the power steering fluid as the color of the power steering fluid is much different than that which was leaking out of the car, but it does seem that the leak has stopped or slowed. We submitted a BBB Complaint against this shop, and they were unkind about it (saying that they didn't understand what we were so angry about) so we will no longer be returning to this shop and will be taking our car elsewhere.
