I personally have had two different vehicles maintenance by James, a 1997 Grand Marquis and 2000 Honda Odyssey. Both needed new brakes, the Marquis needed engine work and ignition replacement, the Honda just brakes and minor alignments. Both cars respectively run great! Brakes are smooth and definitely had made the value rise as they were used cars, but with his help made my life a whole lot easier!
If you want experience, he has 30+ years of it, if you want hospitality, they are from the south haha, the best place to go for repairs in Birmingham for sure!

Had the brakes done on my Ford Focus 2012 in August 2015 that included one calliper replacement to the tune of $900. Have had to take the car back four times already for repair to the rear passenger brake. Each time the issues ranged from squealing to clicking and each time James said that it was because a clip was missing on the back brake. Each time he claimed it was fixed but a week or so later, the same squealing or clicking would continue.
When I could get someone on the phone, they, to their credit, would be pleasant and say bring it back in. But there were many times I called and got no one and no return phone call. Finally had to get my fiance involved because I was getting the run around without any fix. Brought the car back the fourth time in January 2016 to have them fix the problem again, but now the brakes are smoking! I've called and let a message on both the main number and the after hours number and have not gotten a response.
I should've just taken it to the dealer, but I was trying to support a local independent business owner. Now I'm hoping that I can get my $ back so I can take it to be fixed.
All in all, if they can't even do a simple brake job, I can't imagine trusting them with something more serious or complex. I plan on updating this review as the issue unfolds.
Update: my fianc got a text message from an email address saying "Mr. James will call you back today. We do not tinker with people's cars. We take repairs very seriously". But still no phone call.
Update: my fiance received a call from James at around 11:17am today and talked to him about the issue. He was very pleasant and said he would do whatever it took to fix the issue. We planned to take the car back on Monday (today is Saturday) to have him fix the issue. At 2:20pm my fiance received a call from Suzanne (the office manager I think) who said accused me of posting a false review and saying that my review was slanderous. She claimed she was sitting with her attorney and then she said that if we didn't do something about the review that she would have to "do something about it". In the end, I'm still without a fix for my brakes and left with a pretty sour experience. My one star review stands.
