I love the people at LBJ. I always feel like as a single mother I never know what decision to make regarding my daughters car. The staff and owners always make sure I understand my choices and give me their honest opinion.

When you get a quote from them please get it in writing. I was told one quote then when I went to pick my car up it was a different price. I won't use them again myself.

I took my car to LBJ earlier this week and they did a fantastic job! They were able to save me a lot of money on routine maintenance. The people who work there are great and very helpful! I had quite a few things that needed to be serviced on my car and it took them less than a hour to get it all done. It's very clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend LBJ.

I won't be back. I called ahead to see how long it would take for a simple flat repair. When I got there I even explained I just needed a flat repaired and I had somewhere to be. They Took my vehicle back immediately and started work or so iPhone. After about 30 minutes they came back and tried to explain to me everything else the vehicle needed besides fixing the flat. I explained I only wanted the flat fixed. Another 50 minutes later and I finally get the flat fixed. A simple nail in my tire took an hour and 20 minutes. I will not be back.

I took my car in to get a tire replaced. Once in the shop they determined that another one of the tired needed to be replaced immediately and the other two were in poor condition, so I decided to replace them all which was ok because I knew it was close to being that time anyway. On the day I was supposed to go pick up my car I get a phone call from them that while they were taking it for a test drive the engine began to smoke. They said that the radiator hose broke and needed to be replaced. So that was 150. The next day when I was on my way to get my car I called ahead. This time they said that they just saw the ticket their technician wrote and it states that there was a leak found in the radiator and they recommened replacing the whole thing. At this point I went and got my car from them anyway. I can't say whether all this stuff was really wrong with my car or not but my gut was telling me something seemed shady. Just thought I would let y'all hear my experience.

Be kind to yourself and never go here.
1.) After market parts and faulty installation---car broke down in 5 months. The work and parts were so poor, that AAA Car Care Plus gave me back the parts for "evidence." Upon their recommendation, they said I should file a formal complaint to AAA Alabama. Work was that bad.
2.) Overpriced. I used my AAA membership to get towed to their AAA approved shop. Their original estimate for work was $600 which balooned to over $1,200. I was visiting Huntsville (from Atlanta) for my sister's funeral, or would have taken the time and business elsewhere. My fault for overpaying. After the work was completed, I contacted my local dealership to see how much they would have charged me for the same scope. It was about 25% less. My trusted mechanic was about 40% less.
3.) I was accidentally misled from the customer service rep that AAA approved independent shop warranties would carry over out-of-town. Be warned, travelers. AAA did contact them after diagnosing the problem was LBJ's parts & workmanship. LBJ said they would not reimburse any labor costs, and they would mail the parts later. They have to "mail" these parts later because it's after market junk. That said, they never called back to AAA about mailing the "parts" and the supervisor at LBJ must not work a "normal" workday. The AAA rep felt they were getting the run around. I'd agree with some of the other posters. I'm pretty skeptical these guys ever honor a warranty, in-town, out-of-town, etc.
4.) I also make inquiry to see if the Ownership has ties to the military and service to our Country. I'm from a military family and refuse to believe that there would be a military business owner with this shoddy of practices. My father was a LTC and pretty sure served or knew the original Owner when I was looking at the displays in the shop. I feel like they use the founding of this shop by a Colonel as propaganda for marketing. So for the Redstone Arsenal personnel (where I used to work) and the Brave who serve; I hope you find this review sincere and try to find another auto shop. God Bless---

LBJ does not honor their warranties. I had new brakes put on my car and in only 6 months they were already screaming. I took them back to LBJ and the owner refused to honor the warranty. Instead of go through a legal process I took them to another local auto repair shop. The mechanic told me they were terrible brake pads. He surmised they were after-market pads. I also asked them to look at a power steering issue I was having with my car. My car sat in their garage for almost 9 hours with no repair and they asked to keep it another day. I took it to another mechanic and the problem was repaired in less than 2 hours.
It really stinks for me because I always liked LBJ before this incident. The owner was indignant, rude, and borderline threatening when I asked questions as to why the car wasn't repaired after 9 hours. He then told me that he would not honor their warranty and repair the brake pads.
I now tell everyone I know to never take their car to LBJ.

Quality work for a fair price. You use to be able to find that in a lot of places. Not so much anymore. You can still get it here. They fixed the other guys mistakes and I didn't have to take out a second mortgage to pay for it. I hope I never need to go back but I'm sure my car will make me.

I used to be a loyal customer to this location and used them for all my car repairs and new tires etc until I had a problem with my water pump on my Jeep. They quoted me around $800.00 to replace the pump etc. I called several other shops since it seemed kinda high. I got the job done for about $500.00 at another shop and another one had a similar quote. I went to LBJ to pick up my vehicle and told them that I was taking it to another shop. They said they would match the price of the other one. I thought they were ok to charge me 300 more before so I left. I took my business elsewhere. Recently I had a flat yet I had road hazard protection on the tire from LBJ when they installed the tire so I reluctantly too it back for them to repair. I spoke to them on Thur and they said they would order the tire since they didn't have it in stock and it would be in the next day (FRI). I took the tire over on Friday afternoon when they said it would be in. They guy said the truck hadn't come in but it should be in later. Well later that night I checked and they said it didn't come in but should be in the morning (SAT). I said ok, I checked back sat and they said it didn't come in and their tire supplier was closed on SAT and it would be monday or they could give me a higher priced tire. I was tired of the run around and picked up my tire and took it to another shop and replaced the tire for lower than what LBJ was quoting me anyway. Either way I am better off, when I originally left it always seemed like when I took it in for something it would end up costing me multiples of hundreds of dollars for things that were supposedly going wrong. Either way, not going back to them for anything in the future.

i hate car repairs but always pleased with the treatment we receive from the group at LBJ. They are fair and do not charge you for services you really do not need...and do their best to save you money.

I've been using LBJ for more than 10 years. They used to be a place that cared about fixing your car right and never tried to rip you off. In the rare even that they messed up a repair, all you had to do was ask and they'd rush to correct the problem. But the management has changed and now it seems to all be about getting you in and out the door fast and making as many bucks as possible. The last time I was in there, they screwed up a simple brake job on my car, tried to sell me a clutch rebuild as a fix for the brake problems and tried to bill me for a higher-priced part than the one they actually used. I had to raise a fuss to even get them to fix the brake problem that they caused. If this was the only thing that had ever gone wrong, I might be tempted to write it off, but it seems like quality has been dropping and prices have been rising steadily over the past couple of years. I've had enough. Going elsewhere.

Keep looking for another shop My daughter took her plymouth in for a timing belt they charged a fair price and guaranteed parts and labor ok sweet deal so a month later little car breaks down again and she takes it back to them for a diagnosis they tell her it's the fuel pump and will be 700+ for the repair i told her no that's outrageous so when i get home i start poking around on it turns out the choke is stuck and is fixed in 10 minutes for about a dollars worth of carb and choke cleaner these people are scammers praying on women and people who have no common knowledge of a automobile just find someone else

We broke down while traveling through and they stayed open after closing time until we could get a tow truck to bring us to them. Once there, we were able to wait in a very clean waiting area. They went above and beyond what they had to do and fixed the car and got us on the road quickly. We highly recommend their services. Adam did a great job fixing the car and was very kind about it, even though he had to work past closing.
