I have over thirty-five years of driving experience under my belt, and this auto shop is the worst one I have ever been to. I have had many different cars of different makes and sizes and received maintenance care for all of them from different auto shops. I have never been this upset with an auto shops service than I am now. I hope no one gets ripped off like I have been. A few days ago, my car suddenly didnt start. I attempted to jump the car, but it didnt start, so I went and bought a new battery. In the process of putting in the battery; I had soon realized I had taken home the wrong battery. I called for road service and they suggested a tow truck be called so the vehicle could be taken to an auto repair shop. I recently just moved to Newnan so I looked for a good shop to tow the car to; I found Dons Automotive because I saw good reviews. I called the shop and I was told that it would be fine to just tow it there and they would check my vehicle. I was told that I would be notified when they found the problems. A day goes by and I have not received a notification of any kind. Even though I was told I would be called around ten in the morning I had yet to be notified at ten thirty in the morning. I called them and told them I would be by the shop soon, there I met the owner, Don. He told me that he had already ordered new fuses for the ones that were blown and he had also put in a battery without my consent. I never gave them permission to work on my car at all. I only asked them to give the vehicle a diagnosis. I wasnt happy about it, but I didnt complain because he had already started the process and I wasnt there to argue. He put in a Napa battery and he notified me it will cost me at least one hundred dollars on top of labor fees and tax. I had already ordered my own battery, which was superior and in the end cheaper. He was okay with that and so he scratched the price off. Thing is, he wasnt even authorized with my consent to do any of this. He called me not long after and he told me that I needed a new alternator and I would be down approximately thirteen hundred dollars. I already knew the alternator was around one hundred sixty dollars, so I was appalled to know that he was going to be charging over a grand for labor! I refused to give him that much. He told me to pay him one hundred eighty-two dollars for the diagnosis and fuse change. The fuses only cost him two dollars, and a fuse change is a simple process, so this was absurd. I paid him his ridiculous demands and I went and called around until I found a shop some ways away that only charged me two hundred dollars for labor for a few hours labor. I purchased my own alternator and I spent less than four hundred dollars for the whole process. In the end I saved close to nine hundred dollars. A few hours ago I actually just found out that the same place that did my alternator replacement would have given me a diagnosis for thirty dollars. I will not be going back to Dons Automotive, nor recommending them to anyone.

Excellent experience. Very knowledgeable. We had an air conditioning issue that no one could seem to solve, mostly in part because every mechanic that I had previously made contact with did not take the time to listen to the complete issue we were having. My 2009 Camry broke down without warning early one morning in April, and a co-worker recommended Don's Automotive. I had the car towed to the shop, and just a few hours later I received a call from the owner informing me that it looked like I needed a new engine. The car had just over 130K miles and out of warranty , so I thought that I was in for a repair of many thousands of dollars that I did not have. When I asked Don what my options were, he told me not to do anything until I had Toyota look at the car. He even printed pages and pages of technical service bulletins - information that gave me the ammo I needed to convince Toyota to replace the engine under warranty. Don is a great guy and obviously cares about doing business the right way. I will be using him again and recommending him to anyone I know that needs a good mechanic.

I called for road service and they suggested a tow truck be called so the vehicle could be taken to an auto repair shop. I recently just moved to Newnan so I looked for a good shop to tow the car to; I found Don's Automotive because I saw good reviews. I called the shop and explained what had happened. I told her that I believed that I have a problem with the alternator as well as the car battery. Then she told me that she required the car to be at the shop so I could receive any kind of estimate. So I towed the car to the shop. I received no call from them that same day, so, I was a little uncomfortable that they did not give me a courtesy call for letting me know that they had received my car. The next day I did not receive a call from them. After nine, I called in and she told me she will get back to me by ten because she didn't have any information to give me yet. I had yet to be notified even after ten thirty in the morning; so, I called and told them I would be by the shop soon, there I met the owner, Don.
I have a friend who has an auto body shop out of the city and I knew the problems because he had already told me. Since my friend is located a bit away I wanted to fix my vehicle locally.
