5 Starts for Team Marathon as they fixed my beloved Mini Cooper post a bad fender bender. When I picked it up it was as though my vehicle was BRAND NEW. The staff was efficient, friendly and very professional. Totally recommend!

Stress free experience! Did my car repair there this week, everyone is super nice, patient and efficient. Got me set up quickly and have the rental car ready to go, in and out less than 30 mins. Kept me updated with repairing progress, excellent work, car look brand new, highly recommended.

Worse experience ever!! Never been able to get them on the phone, they ordered wrong decal after my accident so had to come back 4 different times, finally they said drop 10 mins to fix since they kept messing up, been here over an hour & they still don't know when it will be ready. Only putting a decal on. Rude and unhelpful

After I was in an accident, I chose this shop based on location and prior experience at the old shop in North Charleston. They finished the body work to my car quickly and efficiently. The service was friendly and helpful from the body shop to the adjuster. They also have the conveniently located car rental. The office members even met me before opening so I could get to work faster. No hassle at any point. Even though it was covered by insurance the total for all the work was way lower than I expected. I'd definitely use them again. The only reason I didn't rate 5 stars is because I did notice there wasn't much communication but I didn't require it. I had an idea when it would be ready, I called and it was ready that day. I read the bad reviews and wanted to mention they are under new management so maybe that is why my experience was different.

Our insurance company sent us to this body shop as it was what was recommended and our experience here was absolutely terrible. We were told by our insurance company that this body shop would contact us before ever starting on our vehicle and they never did. Not only did they not ask us before starting on it, but they never contacted us to give us ANY updates on our vehicle while it was being repaired like they were supposed to. Two weeks was the estimated completion time for my car and once two weeks passed we never got a phone call from them to let us know it would be longer due to parts being delayed. When we wanted info on the progress of our vehicle we were either put on hold or hung up on CONSTANTLY. There was never any clear communication. We were constantly lied to about when our vehicle would be ready. Then, when we called and they told us we could come pick up our car, we arrived just to be told we had to come back tomorrow to pick it up, even after calling to confirm we were still coming a half hour before arriving. Then, we were told they would tow our car to us the next day so we didn't have to pick it up. When the tow truck arrived, we took a good look at our vehicle and noticed everything was STILL not fixed correctly!!! They did a very cheap job fixing everything and handled nothing in a professional manner. Their customer service stinks. What a joke! I wouldn't recommend this body shop to my worst enemy!!! STAY AWAY!!!

The car I purchased is what I wanted. Appears to be good car, and I did get a good deal on it. Low miles. My mechanic said it is in great shape, except for the chipped windshield (which I knew about) and a bent wheel (which I wasn't aware of).
Trying to contact them after the sale is difficult. It's two weeks later and they just sent out the paperwork that the NC DMV needs to register the car in NC, or at least that is what they said on the voicemail they just left on my phone.
One minor gripe is they "left to put some gas in the car" before I drove off the lot, which added 15 minute delay, but I seriously doubt they even put $8.00 of gas in it. The gauge showed just under a quarter tank when they returned. Would have been nice gesture to just fill the tank up.
Reading the other reviews, and from my own experience, I highly doubt I'd ever but a car from these guys in the future. I can't complain that they were pushy, but to be honest, I purchased this car (sight unseen) over the phone before driving up to pick it up. Everyone I talked to was friendly, but it did take awhile (1.5 hrs) to get the paperwork done even though I had an appointment AND had submitted all my info 6-7 hours before I came in to get the auto.

my review of automaxx of summerville pissed off customer
8/17/2016
reason for visit
sales (used)
"crooked and theives"
we purchased a truck from automaxx in may of 2016. in july found out that financing fell through. we were told to bring the truck back (yoyo scam) then we went in to speak with the finance manager john who by the way is a complete idiot. i say this becasue he informed nuo that we had to turn the truck in which had approved financing and would not get our 8000.00 down payment because he said that down payment went to the finance company. xxx everyone knows a down payment or trade in goes to the dealership not the finance co. we refused to turn the truck in until the money was given back. they agreed to give half the down payment back at this point. so we lose the truck and 4grand!!! without sending a right to cure which we were not late on any payments but ahead in fact they repossessed my truck last night. this is perfect example of jonny dangerfield at work again. spot delivery and yo yo scam and now i will be pressing criminal charges for larceny. they had no right to steel my vehicle i did nothing wrong. i upheld my legal binding contract to them. so now im out the truck and 8 grand. theives!!!! do not ever go there.

Too bad I can't score them "zero" stars. I found an older, very clean, low mileage pickup truck today, that had just arrived on the lot. After a test drive and visual inspection, we decided to buy the vehicle, pending completion of their usual 72 point inspection and subsequent repairs along with detailing and repair of a couple of items that we found. We completed the paperwork and left for lunch while they were supposedly taking care of those issues. Upon return, the truck had only been washed and the repairs and detailed inspection had not been done. We were told that we would have to return with the car for it to be inspected because their service department was now closed. We discovered that the passenger door lock didn't work properly. After bringing this to their attention we were now informed that this, and anything discovered during the future inspection would not be fixed, as the truck was now sold "as is". Once they have your money, they apparently don't care, and forget what they promised. The sales manager, Mr. Dangerfield, was quick to repeatedly say that he would return our money, because "tomorrow he would list the truck for $1000 more than what we paid". (After we had agreed to buy this truck they repeatedly said that they had under priced it by $1000) This may have been a good truck, but rather than deal with the unknown (no usual inspection) and unscrupulous salesmen that don't respect their customers, we took our money back and our business elsewhere... This Dangerfield doesn't deserve any respect!

I understand that there are good and bad dealers out there, the good really do their best to get past the bad taste that the bad leave, just thought I would share my experience with Automaxx and this bad taste.
Just a warning to anyone looking to buy a used car from a dealer, steer clear of Marathon Automaxx in Summerville. They are not at all affiliated with Automax, though they will tell you outside they are, reporting to them weekly. They sell pure junk, no safety inspections, just detail them put on the lot and sell, leaving you on your own for the repairs, as we found out the very next day when ours broke down. Their manager John Dangerfield told us himself, when we went back to see if they would cover the repairs, "We sell 160 cars a month, don't have time for inspections" ............. classic line from a stereotypical lowlife used car salesman. So save yourself the aggravation and try somewhere else, maybe a bigger dealer, you may pay a little more, but at least they will stand behind their sale, and you will have a safe car.
BTW repair bill came to $1675, for new cats, multiple o2 sensors and mass air, the dealer repair tech did verify that the check engine light had been reset multiple times before I bought it, so Marathon Automaxx knew the vehicle had issues and hid them. Like I said, just another lowlife used car scum ....... steer clear.

I would not recommend using AutoMaxx of Summerville. I bought a BMX X3 from them and had a litany of issues which I have described below.
The manager I dealt with, Johnny, was the typical used car salesman mindset. I know plenty of honest and reputable ones but he promised me several things that he did not deliver on including; a new paint job to cover several areas where the paint was chipped. His paint guy used one of those touchup markers off TV that was clearly a much darker color of grey than the vehicle, he promised a full detailing of the car only to have it washed and vacuumed, and there were 3 major issues with the car and he lied about the repairs on them.
I had to run up to the dealership 5 times to get the vehicle and they still couldn't get the car right. We had to meet the salesman even a after we finalized the deal because they forgot to get a signature on the purchase paper.
They advised the car had brand new tires but the Front tire blew out the sidewall within hours of driving off the lot and I can't even get a replacement as they discontinued manufacturing those tires so I will need to get 4 new ones.
High pressure sales tactics used throughout the entire process while several managers kept telling me how they never give such a good deal on a car and I needed to buy it now.

I don't even know where to start with this place... My husband and I bought a truck from this dealership in October 2013. When we got there we were looking at one specific truck that we saw from the side of the road. They were kind of rude and continued to show us other trucks in our budget.. So my husband found the truck in his budget and was interested in buying it. It was somewhere in the $8000 range with tags and taxes.
We felt very pressured. They wouldn't even let us go to Wells Fargo (which was right down the street) to go get the money to purchase the truck.
We also got a warranty on the engine as part of the deal which we didn't receive till 3 months after the purchase. After calling and calling and getting a response that they would put it in the mail, but they never did until we talked to the manager.
Also, DONT BE FOOLED about the nice appearance of the cars on there lot. After we washed my husbands truck, we quickly learned they used "temporary paint" to cover all scratches and even stickers that was on my husbands truck.
To this day, we don't even have the title to the truck because they can't even get our address right. We're constantly frustrated and regret ever buying the truck from them.
