I went in for a synthetic oil change and busted headlight in January 2016. Luckily, only a couple of cars in front of me. I was in and out in 30 minutes.
Ricky and team did a solid job, and pointed out that I might need to do suspension work soon on my 2005 Subaru Forester.
Very trustworthy! I'm going back this week.

I had an issue that didn't need to be driven to diagnose. Regardless, the asian mechanic here took my car out for a drive. I honestly didn't know why we went for a car ride. Within a minute, he told me that my car also had another problem/safety issue. He pulled over in a remote area and said I have to give him a tip -- which I did to get my car back. There goes $10 just to get my car back.
Anyway, I brought my car to my regular mechanic who put the car up on a lift to check on that "safety issue" -- there was NO problem with what the mechanic here indicated. NONE whatsoever. I wouldn't trust this mechanic with my car again. He also told me that his name wasn't the one on his shirt. I felt that he took me my car for a ride so that he could get a "tip" without being seen by the other mechanic.
Also, the office itself had no one in it, and the mess there let me feel that the place was disorganized. Mechanic also said the owner charges DIFFERENT amounts for diagnoses/etc.
Just got a bad feeling about the place. I'm not going back. I went because of the good reviews but was glad that I didn't get involved with them.

This shop is deceptive and tries to sell you parts you don't need to fix a problem you never had. As soon as I smelled something funny, I went to pick up my car. The owner, Ricky told me that my car was idling high and that I needed an idle air control valve... I just turned the idle down using the screw. The original problem I brought the car in for (a check engine light for EGR) wasn't fixed. In fact, there were several loose vacuum lines hanging in my engine bay. They just disconnected the battery to reset the light and told me it was fixed. After driving 11 miles, it came back on. They were stubborn about installing the parts that I wanted to install and charged me $127 to do absolutely nothing beyond a new inspection sticker.
I don't trust this place at all. You shouldn't either.

First time taking my 328xi here for broken front right suspension and front left fender repair. I went to several other shops prior, and Ricky gave me the best price for both repairs. Dropped my car off on a Thursday, got it back on the following Monday. Ricky was nice and accommodating, and his work turned out phenomenal! The fender looks so good that you can't tell it was ever repaired! Color matches beautifully which I am very happy about. For my suspension issues, I needed a new strut, knuckle, and rim because I hit a huge pothole. After replacing those parts and getting an alignment, my car drives way smoother and better than before! I will definitely come back to Ricky for my non warranty repairs. Highly recommended!

I've been coming here since it was operated under AK Auto, and have always been a happy customer. Ricky and his team are an honest and knowledgable bunch. They've never stiffed me on costs, and stand behind their work. They would take great care of my '94 Integra every time I came in, and still show the same amount of diligence/care with my newer car.
Always try to get here early on weekends, otherwise be prepared to wait as their shop gets full fast.

This company is the most honest mechanic I have ever dealt with, and I have dealt with a lot, all over the world.
I was told by a different mechanical that I had MAJOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, and needed a 250 dollar computer diagnostic. Ricky fixed 2 burned out fuses, and diagnosed the source of my problem (cheap phone charger). He had it figured out before I could get on the bus home, and called me as I was standing at the bus stop. He charged me 25 bucks. I'm going back, and I hope you will use these guys!!!!!!

This is my go to auto shop from your routine maintenance or any specific repairs. I drive an older Acura MDX and these guys are definitely knowledgeable in terms of everything within the Honda family of vehicles/parts.
They charge very reasonable rates and even in my last visit I had a power steering hose (which I purchased online) replaced without issue. Love that this shop allows customers to BYOP (bring your own parts)
Wouldn't go to any other shop so long as I live in the Queens area!

Terrible Place.
The kid who happens to be in the video does not know how to do business. Disrespects customers, rude, and thinks he can boss people around. I took my car in thinking there may be something wrong with the suspension. They REFUSED to let me stand anywhere near the car being inspected. They even said, "if you don't trust us, then you can pull out." Does this kid think he has power over anyone? If you're gonna open your doors and do business, the least you must be able to do is to be courteous and speak the language of business. No one is gonna trust you the first time. If you want someone to trust you, you need to earn it. I'll never go to this place again.

I have always brought my car here for checkup and repair for almost 5 years now. Before it was called AK Auto and Body, now it is known as Tri Auto and Body. There was a lot of good trust that was build over time between the customer and an auto mechanic shop. Unfortunately, Mr. Art, who was the manager back then, an honest and sincere guy, he has left the company. The place was affordable and friendly.
Now, Mr. Ricky, Dennis ran the place with old crews (Jimmy & Spanish guy). They are knowledgeable and helpful, however, it is getting more expensive for repair. I have to bring my car in 3 times within a week for repair that could have cost as much as a grant to fix in total. It is a series of repairs leading up to the costly one.
The 1st visit took the whole day due to wrong parts were deliver incorrectly thrice.
Second time, there was the real need to confirm the repair services and price first, I have to keep calling the shop to check on status regularly and finally was told the problem was already resolved in addition to what was originally agree upon at a higher price.
Third time, after test drive the car that same evening after picking up the car, another problem occurs. The car gave out a loud & panicking metal rattling noise that causes for serious concern and disturbance to the neighborhood peace. It could been easily notice has the shop test drive the automobile. I took the car back and instruct the shop to rework the repair work that was done previously and not to fix anything outside the scope without discussion the matter with customer first for approval.
In short, the shop wants more money to fix a separate issue, instead I took the car to another shop for a repair at half the price. Issues resolved for good.

Ricky helped me with an oil change today, fast and easy to schedule. He was patient in answering all my questions (and having an old car I have a lot of questions! ). Had to put a thicker oil into my car in case I have a leak or am burning oil but the price stayed the same (although I'm not sure if this should cost more, I appreciate him not trying to screw me). He gave me honest advice with my car and helped me with a few minor issues for free. Thanks Ricky! Will be coming back for future maintenance.

Another great experience, one month later. My car suddenly wouldn't start. It wasn't the battery. I tested it out. Then we went here, by foot, and Art sent his mechanic, Jimmy, out with us. He checked out the car, made sure it wasn't the battery, and then he had an idea of what it could be, but we had to get the car to the shop! So far it had been stuck in the back driveway, behind a row of houses, and fairly tight quarters in terms of entering and exiting. I had no idea how I was going to get a tow truck out there.
We went back together and discussed it with Art. He got on the phone almost immediately and called us a tow truck. We waited for 15 minutes, and I saw a small tow truck come in, not one of those huge ones with a huge flat bed, and I had the hope that it would fit in the back driveway. I rode with him, while my husband rode with Jimmy, and another mechanic, since they figured all of the men together would push the car out of the parking space.
Five minutes later we get to the back driveway. The tow truck driver, Todd, reverses in; it's tight, but he decides he can make it. He manages to make the corner turn, and when we get to my car, he doesn't even bother to wait for anyone else. He pops it in neutral, starts pushing it out, back first, and then attaches it to the tow truck! I'm basically amazed as I watch this. By the time my husband and the mechanics come by, there's nothing left for them to do, but follow us back to AK Auto! Even with my Integra attached to it, he drove right out. Once back at the shop, we paid the guy while my Integra was moved into the garage and the guys were all clustered there having a look.
One thing about this place is their customer service. There are no secrets. They invite you to come into the garage so they can explain exactly what they are doing, seeing it up front means we understand the process and don't feel as if there will be short cuts or tricks to get more money. Angel explained stuff to us, then Art explained again, and he wrote out in detail what he was going to do, including the price he would charge us. He even gave us two price options-- one for a quicker fix if we weren't planning on keeping the car too long, and another long term fix, which was more money. We agreed on the price. He estimated two hours. We called back in that time frame and it was ready. Walked back, and had our car all ready and waiting.
Everyone is friendly, nice, smiles at you, talks to you, makes you feel as a person/customer, not someone that will just be "business". This is truly a "ma and pa" establishment. We tried tipping Art, but he refused and said he did nothing but order the parts. He told us to give it to Jimmy, who actually did the work! Now that's definitely a fair guy....and that action alone says a lot about how Art runs his business.
Definitely go here. You won't regret it.

going through insurance for a coverage can be a hassle especially with paint jobs. its highly expensive and has to be done right. i came here on a whim from the searches i made online and thought to myself why not try it since everyone else recommends the location. i had scratches from hoodlums on my hood, fender and door on a 2015 car. i know this was gonna cost a lot but to my surprise this location was better priced than other locations. i believe the job they did would have cost about $3000 in other locations but it only cost $2000 in this location. i only had to pay a few hundred dollars because i have full coverage so it worked out. it took only 5 days to fix the paint job and it came out looking new. all the heavy deep scratches that were carved into my vehicle were all gone. i am a happy customer.

Was looking for a new mechanic and saw all the good reviews. Called all the auto shops around the neighborhood for prices on oil changes where I can bring my own synthetic oil and filter, they had the best price! $15! Can't argue with that!

Wow!!! Nothing but a positive experience!
1) They rode along with me to hear the noise.
2) I sat in the office room for 5 minutes before being called into the garage. They showed me exactly what they believed was wrong with my car. My car was lifted up and they let me put my hands on my cars wheels to see that a rotor on one side was jammed with the caliper. (I know no car knowledge at all, but they let me feel it to believe it! They could have totally just said that both sides were jammed but they were honest!!)
3) They called the autoparts store on the spot and gave me the numbers to how much the parts would cost and how long it would take.
4) I got a call back in less than 2 hours.
TOTAL COST: Quoted for $370
For: 1 Caliper, break pads, 1 rotor, and ~1 hour of labor. (They were speedy!)
Both break pads, and basically a whole makeover(caliper + rotor) on the wheel that was problematic for ~$370?? That's fantastic!!!!(Believe me I did the research online on pricing..) Did I mention the parts have a ONE YEAR WARRANTY? :)
Final impression: A++ Will return :)

Thank you Mr. Ricky and the wonderful gentleman who fixed the brake rotors and pads for me. I've been telling my other go-to shop I was having problems with my brakes. Squeaked a lot and the brake "doesn't feel right and tight" or whatever! So I decided to try Tri Auto after seeing good reviews on Yelp. Took my car in, and after inspection, the mechanic even let me see what was wrong with the rotors. Gave me a fair and reasonable pricing! and the mechanic drove the car a few blocks just to make sure the work was good. Thank you again, guys. Will recommend your shop to my friends!

Great Service and Price. They have synthetic oil changes that costs as much as a normal oil change. They top off all fluids and helped me rotate tires for very reasonable price. Finding a good mechanic is hard enough and finding a honest reasonable priced one is un heard of. I had to do inspection and oil change and tire rotation. They checked my brakes and everything and didn't charge me for anything not needed. I appreciate their help and they will be my go to mechanic.

I brought my Mazda RX-8 here in Aug 2014 and was pleasantly surprised when Art told me to come back and pay him only after making sure that his repair was a success. Since there's something unique about the power steering with this car (electronic vs. a pump, I believe), he wasn't 100% sure. I would have completely understood if he charged me up front but he trusted me and I trusted him all the more. It turns out that he fixed it so I came back to pay him plus I brought it in for another serious job- the slave and master cylinders for the clutch system weren't working properly. They identified the issue and fixed it. They're very reasonable with the costs and showed/explained to me the issues. I have loved and enjoyed this car ever since. Now, it's time for an alignment with all these potholes but it's too bad I moved out of state!

This place is really incredible. I have a honda civic which I rarely have problems with but I have used them to fix my horn which they did way below the price the dealer quoted my at. Also most recently I had to get a completely new front end, I was so afraid it was going to cost over $1000 and was pleasantly surprised at a low 700. This place is honest, cheap as they can be for the cost of parts and labor, and fast. BE A GOOD CUSTOMER AND TIP they deserve it! =)

Art at AK Auto is a pleasure to work with. I came to him because of the Yelp reviews because I am on a tight budget and need an honest mechanic. Indeed, I found him to be very honest as previous reviewers have said, with very fair pricing. I brought him dealer parts the dealer told me needed to be installed, but he first checked my car to make sure the parts were actually needed so I wouldn't have to have all of them installed if they weren't necessary. He called me promptly after I dropped off the car to provide diagnosis, and the car was fixed very quickly.
With many other mechanics, you cringe as you wait for them to announce the price you'll have to pay and then try to figure out how much they're conning you. It's a "game" all of us prefer not to play. We simply want to provide fair compensation to our mechanic for any problems that come up and then always stick with that mechanic. With Art and AK Auto, there is no game, and though having the "Check Engine" light come on is far from a joy, I won't ever wince again as long as Art is around. He gets the highest recommendation, and I truly hope word-of-mouth brings him a snowball effect of business so he ultimately profits more than his competitors.

My experience at AK Auto was VERY pleasant. My 2013 Honda Odyssey got sideswiped and the damage on the right side of the car (with the automatic door) was quite substantial.... it needed fixing of the dents and paint to 3 panels including front and back bumpers. Left the car with AK on Tuesday and received a call the following week, Wednesday to pick up the car. The car was delivered close to brand new... and not to mention smelled like a brand new car! Detailing was.... DETAIL!! They are highly recommended.

Came here once to get my tires changed. These guys are honest mechanics which are hard to find. My side view mirror was broken off mysteriously and I needed a new one. Nothing major. First off, A&K is definitely not a chain auto shop like Meineke. But nothing wrong with that. They tried calling a bunch of places to get an after-market side view mirror which would be cheaper but unfortunately could not find one for my car. It ended up costing over $100 for the mirror plus $35 labor. Price was a little steep for a little mirror but they had it shipped to the shop the next day. I came in and they installed it within 30 minutes.
I'd try them again but next time I'll do some research on the price of parts and maybe try to get it myself. They can speak Thai and I believe Chinese as well.
