Excuse the long post, but if you care about your car(s) and want a mechanic you can totally depend on, read on...
My car was in service for front end whining noise with a local mechanic who couldn't diagnose or fix the issue and only made the noise louder, and had replaced 3 steering pumps and still had my car going on 2 weeks. They gave me the car to test, which was a huge mistake because the noise was so loud, and unfortunately I felt very concerned and needed to get off the main road I was on, off to a side street to stop and call the shop. Unfortunately, at that time there are no turns 7 to 9am and I got a 2-point ticket which I'm now fighting in court, and my car still wasn't near to being fixed!
At that point, I opened YELP!, searched on Subaru Repair close to me and found Mickey's Automotive, which has stellar reviews. I called, spoke to John who couldn't have been nicer and was happy to hear the issue(s) and told me to bring the car right over if I could. I could, did and when I drove in, John and Mickey and a couple mechanics listened, and put it right on a lift. The first thing they did was take a look at the Steering Pump fluid which was bubble gum pink in color instead of deep dark red, an was full of air. They said they could fix the problem and since I had so many pumps in just a couple weeks they wanted to be extra sure they found and fixed the problem. They first flushed the system thoroughly and then tightened everything in the steering system.
The noise was much better John said, but still not sounding like "factory" and felt the bad fluid might have damaged the 3rd pump and wanted to replace it, which I approved and which was the final component in their service that solved the problem.
They kept the car to make sure there wasn't any bad fluid left or air or air leaks in the system. I've had the car back now several weeks and it's still like NEW!
The "take aways" here are that everyone at Mickey's Automotive really care about their customers, their work being top-notch and making sure problems are solved and their customers are happy. Mickey even gave me a ride home! This all felt like I'd gone from a desert to an oasis! I always wonder if great Internet reviews are real or planted. I'm sure that happens, but in Mickey's case, I got exactly the same professional, excellent, fast, knowledgeable, fairly-priced service that I read here in YELP! I felt like "family" from the second John took my first call. Both John and Mickey are not only great at what they do, they "get" how a car problem can really upset your life, especially after another shop only made matters worse. I was envisioning having to dump the car and worried how that would even work, with that awful noise. Who'd want it? Although a 2004, with only 70,000 miles and being a Subaru, I should get years left on this vehicle and now will because I found a shop who's team really knows what they are doing, have an old time excellent work ethic and I know Mickey's will take care of any car problems and me along with them.
I can't recommend them highly enough. If you have a difficult problem or just need a local car shop to service and care for your car over time, Mickey's Automotive is where you need to take it. Just read the reviews. They're real and Mickey's is 2nd generation, Mickey's was started by Mickey's Father, like 37 years ago I think he said. I can 't thank them enough! Steven

I've been to auto shops and dealerships around here (Toyota dealer to King's Shell gas station) but I always come out disappointed. They either trying to rip you off by offering unnecessary repairs or their incompetency. Some will still charge you a good amount even if they can't be able to fix the problem and not to mention wasting a few days of your time.
I decided to try here based on many great reviews. These guys are the nicest and welcoming people in the business. They're very honest and do not try to sell you on unnecessary fixes like other shops. This is the shop I can trust with my Lexus from now on and most importantly they know how to fix it at a reasonable price! I'm glad I found them. Thank you Mickey and John.

I found this place based on good Yelp reviews. Came here after a bad experience at local Subaru service center for my Subaru car (see that review and do not go, I am sure they wanted to scam me). Subaru said I needed all new wheels after I went back a second time when they botched my tire rotation. Luckily I followed my gut and left needing a second opinion for this $600 job. John at this shop looked at my car for free and even showed me the dent in my one wheel where he said that can be fixed in 5 minutes. John did not charge me for his time. .... I came back to have him install new screw in one of tires that may have been screwed in wrong by a recent service job. Wonder who would have done that? ...

Living in Tarrytown, I find that most of the local businesses really know how to treat people well. Micky's is no exception. I had previously been getting my car repairs done elsewhere, but decided to give Micky's a try since it was close to my house. My car was done faster, the communication was more clear and less pushy, and the labor rate was much lower. Appointments are very easy to make online, and the response time for confirmation is very fast.

Excellent repair shop with friendly, honest service and top of the line mechanics. Brought my Lexus Suv here several times and now I wouldn't go anywhere else. John has always been extremely professional and goes out of his way to make sure I'm satisfied. As a doctor I have a tight schedule and they go out of there way to accommodate me. Don't trust your car to any other repair shop.

Mickey's was recommended by a neighbor and I'm so grateful after being ripped off for unnecessary repairs by the local Honda dealer. Mickey and John are very professional and they definitely go the extra mile. I took my car in on short notice before a trip and they were so accommodating in making sure my care was travel-worthy. I can't say enough about how they take the time to explain the work needed and the costs. They never try to sell you on things you don't need and work is done in a very timely manner. They are always dependable.

I told them I was from upstate, and they still treated me like a good neighbor and helped me out to the best of their ability. You can't really ask for more! Hands down the best experience I have ever had for auto repair. Very professional, quick, and HONEST. Fixed my flat tire within 15 minutes. I asked them to check my brakes and tires. They told me I should replace them in 5-6 months...so honest! Would highly recommend Mickey's Automotive, as I will only go here from now on!

These guys are great! My husband and I have taken our Hondas here several times in the last year, for various things ranging from oil changes and state inspections, to brake and tire replacement. Their prices are fair, and they don't try to sell you work you don't need. Last time they even did some little extra things for free. I really feel like they are looking out for us here.

I called in the AM to confirm my appointment to remove a (gigantic) nail in my left back tire and was told to come on in and that they'd make sure that I was in and out in 5 minutes. (I know, right? Already a fan!) Of course I didn't realistically think I'd be in and out so quickly... But given the amount of damage it looked like the nail had caused, it was reassuring to hear.
I appreciated that the mechanic explained to me exactly how he was going to handle my tire before he started the repair. I also appreciated that he told me upfront, after inspecting the tire, that it would cost more than he'd originally expected because the nail had entered my tire from an angle on the side and not in the tread. Even though I was set on getting my tire fixed then and there regardless of the cost, it was good to know that they are straightforward with their pricing and upfront with their customers.
Having just moved to NY, I've been worried about finding an auto shop to entrust my baby to, and I'm relieved that I have finally found the place! It is obvious to me that Mickey's is a genuine local business that takes good care of their customers.
Although I'm sure that I could always find a local Jiffy Lube or a similar chain to do my tune-ups/oil changes for less, I know I will be coming back to Mickey's again and again because I trust them with my car (and also because it feels great to support a local business). Even though I didn't end up getting in and out in 5 minutes, I was still out of there with a like-new tire in less than 30 minutes (!), and I definitely felt that I (and my car) was well taken care of!

Tip: The shop is located right on a bend on Broadway, so be careful not to overshoot it! Or you can do as I did: overshoot it, pull into the rear parking lot, and have someone else bring the car around front...

First time customer last week for an oil change and emissions inspection- these guys were great! They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need- and in addition helped me in transporting the car to & from because I have young twins & didn't want to wait around with them in the cold for an hour. This place always impresses me. I've been using Mickey's Automotive for many years now. On this particular visit for my 30,000 service I had to wait for a part to be ordered and they ended up driving me to my office in White Plains and then dropping off my car to me right there at my office when the work was completed. You don't get much better than that. PLUS they explained everything they were going to do to my car, answered my questions and did a great job. Can't recommend this place enough -- they are very trustworthy.

I had a partial flat tire from a screw so I called them up before coming in for the price ($17). Came in and was greeted by a really friendly guy. Took like 5-10 minutes and I was out, no paperwork. They didn't even charge me at all, but I still tipped the guy. Saw some kids paintings on the wall, couple awards from Angie's list, etc. Just a nice friendly place. Will definitely be back for any other car problems.

I had been coming to Mickeys since moving to the area about three years ago. I've only had nice experiences up until today. I had always dealt with John and he was so kind and wonderful. However, today I had a truly horrifying experience. Upon dropping my car off for an oil change and inspection, I was called and told that my tire would need to be replaced in order to pass inspection. I truly appreciated the call but the price that was given was significantly more than we were quoted elsewhere and there was a significant additional fee for balancing and mounting. I know that a shop needs to make a living and money, but when I called back to say that I would not be using them for the tires, Mickey got extremely defensive and rude. When I said I would bring the car back to be inspected, I was told not to bother. Apparently "we don't make a cent on your inspection so you should have someone else do it." Mickey was extremely rude and implied that my business was clearly not important because I did not want to spend 150 dollars more than I had to on tires. He also brushed me off and told me that all I do is bring my car in for oil changes with them and that was not lucrative enough for him to keep me as a customer. I guess that's what happens when your car runs well and you don't have problems with it. I am truly shocked at the manner in which the situation was handled. I was lectured and yelled at.... I am truly appalled and will not be using them again.
