I have been to a lot of places in Philly where I felt like the guys were shady and trying to take me for every dollar but Shawn at champ automotive was very honest, fair, and quick. I found them through a friend that recommended them and I think the service is worth the trip to Manyunk.

This place is the best! Shawn is very knowledgable and does his best to figure out what's going on without ripping you off! I had electrical problems with my 2005 Honda which are difficult to detect and resolve but he did everything he could to figure it out. He even went out of his way to call his friend at Honda to see if if they had seen this problem before. Highly recommend this place!

Shawn did a great job explaining the process to fix my air-conditioning, what caused it to break down in the first place, and two options on how to approach the problem. He's been very prompt with answering voicemails and is generally more courteous, professional, and personable than any other shop I've ever dealt with.

Shawn is the best!! I have a VW Passat that is always giving me problems. I have tried out so many shops/mechanics and most of them are shady. They always come back and give me a long list of what's wrong with the car and how every single thing needs to be fixed right away so I can pay them thousands of dollars. NOT SHAWN!! he knows what he is talking about and let's you know exactly what needs to get done and give you options on how to do it. Very laid back, honest guy. You can trust him with your car!!

My 2005 Volvo has been going through coolant faster than I go through wine and we had to decide where to take it to get looked at. Normally we go to a Volkswagen dealer since my brother-in-law works in the service department and he'd make sure that our bill doesn't end up getting inflated, but VW couldn't handle the repairs my Volvo needed since they don't really deal with anything but VWs and Audis. We knew if we took it to a Volvo dealer we'd get screwed in terms of the final cost, since they typically charge you like $200.00 just to look at the damn thing!
Enter Champ Auto. Sean Quilley used to work at VW and after he left he opened this shop. He was really flexible with when we could drop the car off and pick it up. There is a drop box behind the fence that you can put your key in so you can leave your car there after hours on the night before it's scheduled to be looked at. He replaced the thermostat housing on my car and two hoses as well. The initial quote we had was for $580, but it ended up being $555 when all was said and done. The best part - the car was fixed in one day! Talk about speedy service.
If either of our cars needs work again, I wouldn't hesitate to bring them back to Champ, if for no other reason than to see Sean's delicious chocolate lab puppy again and to support a small business.

After getting a pricey list of needs at the Subaru dealer, I took my Subaru Outback to Champ Automotive. A friend had recommended it, and after having the work done at Champ, I concur. They were able to get me in quickly and offered the same work at a very fair price. Shawn was even willing to show me what he felt needed to be done to the car and what could wait. He explained very thoroughly about the repair, which was valuable and appreciated. I would definitely recommend this shop.

Finally, a shop that gets it. After my last disaster at Pep Boys, Shawn at Champ was great. He knows VWs, works quickly, communicates really well, and does great work. The best part is that even though they have 'Volkswagen' on their sign, they don't charge those crazy 'Volkswagen Shop' prices.

Tried this garage on a recommendation. The potholes this winter had really done a number on my poor car, and it was making some really awful noises. Dropped it off to have them diagnose it, with my dad, a "car guy", just a phone call away to confirm whatever needed replacing. Turned out to be one of the things on the list of possibilities, and he replaced it for less than he quoted me. It's running smoothly again, and I'm so happy to finally find a place nearby that I can trust!

Shawn is great and knows cars! I have an older Audi that burned oil for two years, and it constantly smelled in the cabin, around 400 miles per quart. i took it to two mechanics and they couldn't repair it , thinking it was either the Turbo or valve seals.
Shawn looked at it, pulled out a damaged PCV system in seconds and told me the problem. Only $300 later, and the car drives like new!
Couldn't recommend him any higher!
