I've never felt more at ease taking my car somewhere!! A true honest mechanic with friendly service. Not once did I feel that I was taken advantage of, or sold a service that I didn't need, unlike my previous experiences with every other mechanic! Will definitely be going back. They are hands down the only place I will go to now.

BY FAR the absolute BEST experience I've ever had at a mechanic or car related repair shop of ANY TYPE. I've been avoiding getting my brakes fixed because in the past, the process of taking my car in to get repaired has always been slow, annoying, and EXPENSIVE.
They did a free diagnostic, an oil change, and replaced my brake pads and rotors and adjusted the back ones a well, and all of it was SOOOOO affordable, way less than I had been quoted by other shops for JUST brakes, and I was in and out in an hour! While I waited, i was offered bottled water and able to charge my phone! Everyone that the shop was SO nice. They let me know what was happening every step of the way so I wasn't blindsided, and didn't overcharge me or try to upsell me on fixing every single other thing on my car. I don't know a ton about cars but they patiently explained everything to me so I clearly understood everything! I asked a bazillion questions about other things I had concerns about and they gave me great answers and advice, even when it was not a service they provided. Everyone was so knowledgeable, informative, and friendly! What an amazing experience! I will be coming back here for my alignment, and any other auto needs!

Best experience I have had at a mechanics shop. I had my check engine on and needed to have it diagnosed. Overall the diagnostics and coils/spark plug replacement took about 2.5 hours. The pricing is more than fair, and they even took a look at an oil leak I have been having for free and gave me advice on how to handle it.
Take your car to Car Friend! They know how sketchy mechanics shops can be for women, and they make sure you leave feeling respected and more knowledgeable about your car!

As luck would have it, I somehow cracked my windshield a couple of weeks ago and was dreading having it repaired.
Turns out my fears were unfounded because Colin and Nelson at Car Friend were fantastic. They quoted me a very competitive price in advance, and had the replacement windshield in stock for my appointment the following day. They even let me borrow a set of wheels when my appointment ran long and I needed to get to a doctor's appointment.
I was offered a bottle of water, and enjoyed some free Wi-Fi while I charged my phone at their convenient little charging station. I will definitely be back!

Car Friend is the most reliable mechanic shop I have been to since moving to LA and I am so glad that I found them. I've dealt with my fair share of untrustworthy shops and dealerships that want to overcharge and over service, especially when they can tell that the person they are dealing with doesn't know much about cars (me.) I've taken my car to Car Friend twice now, once to replace a bearing, and a second time for a larger job to fix my bent strut assembly. Both times I've felt very confident leaving my car after talking things over with Nelson. They kept me in the loop throughout the whole process and there were never any hidden charges. They have also given me the option to fix only the most crucial repairs needed, or to go ahead and fix a few issues, all depending on my budget. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff that really makes me feel confident about the work being done!

Took my boyfriends car to get the window repaired. Right away they knew what was wrong, made a quick call for the part and got the total cost. I love Car Friend! They saved me a ton of money after quoting me 2/3 the price that Volkswagen quoted me to replace my ABS module. Nelson is a very sweet and honest mechanic who is very generous in my experience. Last time I was there getting my Coolant Temperature Sensor replaced, he buffed some residue paint off my car and made it look new, for free, after someone had hit it with their red car (my car's white.) Overall, great experience and the office workers are VERY friendly. I got my car stolen the day after I picked up my car from here last week and needed to collect all my invoices for insurance from Car Friend and Exene got them to me the same day. Very appreciative. Very friendly. Definitely recommend.

Had to take my car in because it wouldn't start. Kept seeing this recommended on GNO so it was the first place I thought of. I always dread having to take my car because I feel like many places try to push things on you that you don't need, reprimand you for not being on top of maintenance, or take advantage of the fact you're not educated on car repairs.
This was NOTHING like that!

I've been in LA for over 5 years and have hopped from one mechanic to the next never really finding a groove.
Car Friend is by far the best.
I went in for an oil change and knew that I was approaching my 80k maintenance services, so I asked them to take a look at that too. Not only did I need that...my rear brakes were up (it had been almost 4 years) and my rear shocks were leaking (explains the bumpy ride).
My oil change was done that day and I dropped my car off on another day where the rest of the services were completed. Not only was I given a great estimate to start, they came in under their own estimate and updated my total at the end. Can you really ask for more honesty from your mechanic? Probably not. Definitely will be going back for all of my future services.

I can't love this place enough. I took my car in yesterday because of a few issues I was having, one which left me terrified to drive. I checked it in, explained what was wrong, and they offered me water and a wifi password while I waited to speak with the manager, Colin. He was super understanding and definitely calmed down my anxiety about everything going wrong. They fixed it all, for about half of what I expected it to Cost. I am so appreciative for this. Took my car here this past Saturday for a 2nd opinion and it was a great experience. I mean who likes to go to the car shop and pay hundreds of dollars. Not me! But Car Friends made this experience worth while, seamless, painless, and also saved me hundreds!!! I came in thinking I needed a new Transmission for my 2004 Toyota Corolla (yes driving it until the wheels fall off). They ran a diagnostic and found that I didn't actually need a new transmission, but an axel and hub bearing! They are honest, made me feel comfortable, excellent customer service, explained the issues I was having in a way I could understand. I live in LA so this was a drive for me to get to them, but to save a couple hundred dollars it was totally worth it!

This place is awesome and affordable! The mechanic, Nelson, is very nice and honest. He won't try to sell you on services you don't need and he will be honest about whether you need something fixed right away or if you can wait.
I brought my 2003 VW GTI here when my other mechanic told me he wasn't able to perform work on my head gasket because he lacked the parts/knowledge.
Car friend knows how to work on VWs which is rare. I appreciate not having to shell out my life's savings to have a specialized VW shop or the dealership work on my car. Everyone I've dealt with here has been super nice. My car had extensive work done here and the guys in the office, Lucas and Colin, are good at explaining what is being done and why.
This is a small shop that is run by hardworking people who care about their customers.

I have had so many issues with mechanics.. I took my car in to my regular place a few months ago.. They charged me $600 and didn't fix the issue... So when I heard about car friend I jumped at the chance to find somewhere reliable and trust worthy..
Car friend is both of those things!!

I was given a referral to this shop after other places ripped me off for a simple oil change.
I was in and out in 1 hour and couldn't be happier. The waiting room was clean and they offered WiFi so I could get work done. I will be returning to get my brakes done in a week or so. Listen. I've lived in (almost) every neighborhood in LA over the past 20 years. The search to find a GOOD, HONEST, REPUTABLE mechanic is real. Especially being a Lady. Look no more. "Car Friend" is your friend! I needed several thousand dollars worth of stuff done to my car. The sticker shock of these services from the dealer sent me straight to bed with the covers over my head. Then some of my lady friends alerted me to this amazing place. I brought my car in and Colin took care of everything! They had to order parts, so I left my car over night. They kept me posted on what was needed, what was NOT, and why. When I went in to pick up my car, Nelson went over every detail with me. I will ever go anywhere else again!! After being quoted ridiculous prices at a few mechanics around the North Hollywood area and then some mechanics just not getting back to us we were very frustrated. We searched the net until I saw on a Facebook group a new place that everyone was raving about. It was Car Friend. Our car broke down and needed a lot of work. I called Car Friend and spoke to Colin about our car. I was very impressed with his honesty and kindness straight away, something you don't often see here in LA. He also mentioned that they could offer the lowest price in town. Once the car was towed there Colin was in constant contact with us, updating us on everything over the two weeks it took to be repaired. It was quite a big job, other places had told us it would take up to 3 weeks. We did a lot of research on the Internet in regards to price and we definitely made the right choice. Colin informed us about everything that needed to be done before getting our permission to go ahead. He even saved the old destroyed parts of the car to show and explain to us what had happened. Now that's something you won't see anywhere else. It is so awesome to have found an honest and great mechanic here in LA. I can't recommend Car Friend highly enough!

My experience at Car Friend was the best experience at a mechanic that I've ever had.
The mechanic was friendly, efficient, and explained things to me in a way that made sense and seemed fair. My services cost me only a fraction of the cost that I anticipated, and I was able to afford all the work I needed done.
In the past, getting work done had been stressful, uncomfortable and and left me wondering if I had been taken advantage of. This was quite the opposite at Car Friend, and I will definitely be returning here for all my auto repair needs (including regular maintenance and oil changes).

I took my Nissan Sentra in after my friend told me what a great job they did on his car. I needed to have my rear brakes and struts replaced. Colin and Nelson quoted me a price that was SO much less than the other shops I had initially taken it to get looked at. I was in shock at the difference! They were also honest and told me that I could wait to do my struts. Wow. It's sad to say but this is the first completely honest mechanic I've encountered. And the quality of work was great! I went in today to get my brakes checked after having a horrible ordeal with another mechanic trying to up charge me out the wazoo! I have major anxiety going to mechanics because I always feel like I'm going to get taken advantage of but here I felt immediately relaxed when Nelson welcomed me into the shop. Colin came up to me while I was filling out paper work and offered me water and kept me informed the entire time I was at the shop. I didn't have an appointment but they were speedy in getting me taken care of as soon as possible. Normally when I leave a mechanic shop, I leave feeling violated and paranoid but not here! I love that a yelp 5 star caption is "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" That is very much how I feel about Car Friend. As soon as I pulled up on a busy Saturday afternoon I was greeted, and felt fully taken care of. Listen I know my car is a piece of shit, but it's the only thing I have right now. Not only does the air conditioning not work, neither does my console, passenger window, both of my sun guards are fucked up, my rearview window has fallen off, someone stole my hubcaps, my suspension sings like an old negro slave, my brakes sound like a mariah carey melissima. This is all true.
Though I supposed I could have taken better care of it, the recent sulfurous smell I discovered wasn't from an unknown discharge during my bout with food poisoning this week but rather from a taco bell to go bag filled with orange peels and nachos belgrande sauces (unrelated to the food poisioning). We could say that about a lot of aspects in life i guess. Perhaps we think we could have done better in a relationship or maybe stayed in school. I like to think I'm introspective enough to know when I would regret a decision. This is all true. When I was in elementary school I made a list of everything that I wanted to accomplish in high school, be the lead in a play, become class president etc. and I'm happy to say that I accomplished all of them short of becoming homecoming king. Am I bitter about it? No, I had so many great things come my way I am grateful to have even been nominated. And Brad Stringfellow is a great guy, he's celebrating his 8th year anniversary coming up. Happy anniversary Brad. It couldnt have gone to a better man. But I'll be the first to admit that Its something I wonder about every once in a while.
Listen you can't go back in time. That opens up a whole host of paradoxical dilemmas, not to mention the immense energy needed to stablize a black hole to send matter to the past. I know what you are thinking: Dyson sphere. Yes, I grant you that a dyson sphere covering our GALAXY (not just our sun) would provide enough energy to stabilize a worm hole, we are no where near that technologically advanced and certainly won't be in my life time. This is all true. Which brings me back to my original point: you can't go back in time.
Look Nelson is a good guy and a great mechanic. Even though I was never homecoming king, thats okay. Sometimes you get food poisioning from honey walnut shrimp from Yoshinoya, thats okay. So what if you stole a lunchables from Ralphs, thats okay. Maybe...just maybe, the journey was worth the trip.

Car Friend is awesome! I met Nelson and Colin today when I brought my Honda Accord in to get an oil change. Nelson topped up some fluids and did an overall check under the hood which I appreciated. He pointed out some things that need fixing (it is a '98 with 200k miles on it, so it's inevitable) and Colin said he would email me a list of most important to least important mechanical issues. Nelson went the extra mile and removed some tape residue from a window that I had been taping shut before I got it fixed. Customer service and prices are A+!

I had such a fabulous experience at Car Friend! I had to take my 2006 Honda Accord into the dealership in January for a recall. While there, they did the checks etc and gave me a doomsday quote of about $3500 worth of work I needed done. Obviously, I was stressed and panicked as this is not something I could really afford to do right now. Car Friend was recommend on a Facebook group for women so I figured I would check it out. Nelson, the mechanic, walked me through all the problems he saw - including physically showing me the issues on the car so I could see for myself. I have never felt so respected when dealing with an auto shop. Low and behold the work I needed done amounted to a third of what the dealership said I needed - both in terms of actual work needing to be done and cost! I definitely recommend Car Friend 100% as a place to feel taken care of for all your car needs - especially as a woman!

Ladies, if you are looking for a great mechanic shop where you can feel 100% comfortable, please go to Car Friend!!! These guys are amazing! I needed a headlight replaced among many other things. Nelson did a full checkup on my car and let me know everything I needed done, without the pressure of getting it done that day. Collin even hung out and chatted with me while I waited for my car! The estimates I was given are far less expensive then estimates I have gotten elsewhere. I can't tell you how nice is feels be able to take my car to a shop by myself and not feel like I'm getting swindled. These guy really do rock!! They truly are honest mechanics!! And GNO members get a discount wahoo!!!

Moving across the country meant no longer having my brother or dad to rely on for anything car related. I'm not completely clueless when it comes to taking car of my car, but I still get nervous that shops are going to try to rip me off because I'm a young woman. Car friend's customer service and thorough communication put me so at ease.. and the prices were super affordable. So happy to have found a go-to place for everything from maintenance to repairs.

If you are looking for a mechanic, you seriously NEED to go to CAR FRIEND. My boyfriend was a bit stubborn about taking his car to another mechanic because he had been using the same one for a while. He had just had a ton of work done and then a few days later had to bring it back in because the car wasn't staring properly after he just replaced the starter. They said something else had to be replaced and that it would cost another $700 not including labor. That's when I kidnapped the car and took it to car friend for a second opinion. Colin and Lucas were soooo nice and thorough and ran a bunch of diagnostic tests and were able to figure out that it was in fact the starter that had just been replaced. They saved my boyfriend another thousand dollars and now he will be a car friend customer for life. I'm telling everyone I know about this magical place. Seriously, just go.

I brought my 97' Toyota 4runner here for a major service and could not be happier with my experience. Nelson was extremely knowledgable and went out of his way to point out some things I will need to do in the future, but did not try to sell it or pitch me any extra expenses. They actually saved me money on things I thought I needed that it turned out I didn't. A great mechanic that I actually trust, and will return to any time my car needs anything.

I loathe anything to do with my car because I don't know much about them. I was so tired of going to oil change chains who upsell you and I can't afford to go to my VW dealership due to their price inflation on parts and labor. I heard about a female owned garage called Car Friend and spoke to Annalise, who encouraged me to bring my car in. I did today and they were so friendly and they not only fixed what needed to be fixed, but they checked the rest of the car to make sure it was okay (which it was) and Christian was incredibly sweet and easy to understand. I would have paid twice as much elsewhere and I'm sure three times as much at the dealership. I'm taking my car to Car Friend forever now! And don't let the Van Nuys address fool you...it's right off of 'dealership row' on Van Nuys Blvd. It's not as 'deep' in the valley as I had dreaded! It's just on the edge of Sherman Oaks and Valley Village. THANK YOU CAR FRIEND. Would recommend to any of my friends, especially females!

Had THE BEST experience here. Very affordable. My mechanic was incredibly nice and helpful. This place does not try ripping you off. I tipped the mechanic because I was so satisfied and it was so affordable even though he refused to take the extra money at first. Could not recommend this place enough!
