Great service, solid prices. Those are the only qualities I look for in an auto shop. In addition to Joe's crew bringing a professional way of business, their work on my drivetrain has held up far beyond what I expected with my 18-year old Nissan pickup truck. Thanks Joe!

I was very impressed!!! Transmission Unlimited & General Auto Repair : My Honda Pilot needed a new alternator. ( I had previously purchased one on line.) Joe put it in my car the same day I called. I was very happy. He also charged me a very modest price. Joe is an automotive expert with years of service I would recommend this shop. If you need work done on your car give them a try. You will be glad you did! Glen

The family Mechanic

Joe has been my mechanic for several years. My son just bought a used car and took it over to Joe, it’s now running great and is the only place the family goes to get our cars work on. Don Mead

Transmission Unlimited is Awesome! Saved Car w/ $ in pocket

I would have been up the creek without a paddle if it wasn't for Transmissions Unlimited. I was quoted by other mechanic shops $2000-$3000 for a transmission replacement on my 2k Buick even after those shops looked at the car. Joe at…

I've been looking for a permanent auto shop and Transmissions Unlimited is the one! I brought my Toyota in to get some work done and am incredibly happy with the prices, customer service, and quality of work. They also vacuumed the interior of my car. It's so clean! I will definitely be back to get my new tires. :)

Long story short, my entire engine needed to be replaced. The guys at transmissions contacted my insurance company and got a brand new engine sent out for my car without me having to do any of the work involved in dealing with insurance companies (can be really annoying). In what would normally be a 3 day minimum job to finish, the guys at transmissions unlimited got it done the day they received my engine. They may have had to work some extra hours that day, but they got it done and I was able to pick up my car that day. Car is running great.

Just called for some auto trans advice. I spoke with a very knowledgeable individual who quickly helped me identify my car's problem from the symptoms i have been observing. Excellent customer service! I will call these guys first with any future auto trans problems.

I take my old 2001 Subaru outback here for all her needs. The mechanics are amazing and always tell me what they've done to my car or if something needs to get maintenanced soon. Plus, they've got candy in the waiting room and I'm a sucker for candy.

Got an oil change today at a commercial oil change shop and was informed of a slight oil leak. I called numerous auto repair places in the area, and while most were polite and somewhat accomodating, this AWESOME place was personable over the phone and able to get me in the same day.
After meeting 2 members of the team and chatting about my oil change experience, i felt very safe and confident. As crazy as that sounds, but piece of mind around things youre not 100% familiar with (ie. Car repairs) is invaluable.
I will be taking my new old school baby to you guys for ALL of my car needs and will also be using any recommended services that you guys suggest. Thank you times a million!!!!

Had some work done on my RV here about a year ago, told Joe at the time I picked it up that it had a leak and he told me to go to Napa for power steering "stop leak". So it sat in storage for a year and when I start using it, power steering isn't working. Take it back to this place and am told, "it has some leaks", "you should just get rid of it" because they didn't have time to work on it ("could be days, months, years" is the quote. Took it to someone that knows what they are doing and they tell me, "someone that put that bright shiny relief valve on it, didn't adjust it right" and it has been aerating and the pump was sucking up air. Paid to have it done right (my next review :)) and lo and behold we have power steering again. No new parts necessary, just had to pay the same labor all over again....
Bottom line - If this was the last place to work on my RV I would just park it! They do not back up their work. Unfortunately you don't get what you pay for here.

I'll start this review by saying, I originally found this place from my wife, who was recommended it by a coworker. My wife had her brakes changed and had good things to say, though she noted they originally quoted her 2 different prices -- one on the phone, and another when she came in. When she pointed this out to them, they gave her the lowest of the 2 quotes. Her impression was that they were good guys, who just like to work on cars -- so when my camry needed attention, it seemed like a no brainer to take it here.
Now we know better.
I don't typically write reviews, or read or rely on them when making consumer choices, but I had such a bad experience at this place, I have to share. Hopefully this helps others avoid getting RIPPED OFF like I did. Here's the story: Brought in my vehicle for an oil change, and to fix an oil leak. Got it back the next day, great! I asked if they noticed if any other repairs were needed, and he said not at all. I felt great -- a working car, for cheaper than finally a mechanic I could trust!!
However, I noticed later that night, the oil continued to leak, AND, driving it home, I noticed it drove super strange, like it never had before. I was not able to take it in the next day, but when I did, they give me a quote to fix the leak -- even though that is why I brought it in to them in the first place!!! When i point this out to them, they just say oil leaks can come from anywhere, and, basically, tough luck. Not to mention all the other things they said the car needed -- new spark plugs, new belts, yadda yadda yadda, How's that happen?! When I get the car back originally, they say everythings fine, nothing further needed. then when I take it back to point out to them the work they did DIDN't work, they shrug their shoulders -- and try to take you for a ride by billing you for more work.
I hate to say it, but I suspect foul play. I really do.
I'd avoid this place like the plague. You'll go in for an oil leak and come out needing a new transmission, engine, who knows what. If you are looking for an HONEST mechanic who has their stuff together, MOVE ON, this is not the droid you're looking for. UGH

Transmissions Unlimited displays unethical business practices and takes full advantage of paying customers who lack in general mechanical knowledge. All services were rendered without a having a signed contract in place and when asked to produce the original invoice from the week prior, failed to do so. This shop is very disorganized. During the service, a part was broken (not apart of the original scope) from using the wrong tools to remove it and too much force from an impact drill. The company admitted fault on their behalf but proceeded to make the customer pay for the additional parts (with a 40% mark up) and labor to complete the job (again not in the original scope.) Upon picking the vehicle up and requesting to look under the hood before proceeding with payment, the owner threatened to withhold keys (...without a signed contract) and stated that the work was guaranteed for one year so we don't need to inspect it at this time. Yet the invoice stated a guarantee for two years, very inconsistent. After a drawn out, heavy conversation of "why it is wrong to make the customer eat the costs of their mistakes", and that our next step is to pursue legal matters, they finally agreed to absorb the cost and let me pay for the original scope. Two of the employees are young and appear inexperienced, while the owner might have experience, ultimately displays bad work ethics. Save yourself the hassle.

My whole family and I have been taking our cars to Joe at Transmissions Unlimited for years now. Always great service and have never been disappointed. What prompted me to finally give this great review? Recently, my car wouldn't start and I had to get it towed to their shop. They stopped what they were doing to get me back on the road. They found a quick fix, took care of it, and I had my car back that same day! Not to mention- I practically had to force them to accept a payment.

They are very nice and did a nice job replacing my water pump at a good price and in a timely Manner.
I gave it 2 stars because they do work for luxury sport auto and they supposedly fixed the front end this on the car. I had them recheck the front wheel hub that "had been checked" two weeks after buying this car because I still heard a grumbling noise and they said it was fine, even though you could hear it plain as day. I went months driving this car, hearing the noise and finally had enough. I took it to a friend's GM specific (Raleigh hills auto) mechanic and he immediately knew the front wheels hub was bad. It cost me around $600. I think Trans. Unlimited found it, told Luxury Sport Auto and they chose to keep it a secret because I already purchased the auto and they had no obligation.

Had just bought a used car, didn't know too much history so I wanted to change out the transmission oil. Called a whole bunch of places, and Transmission Unlimited had the best prices. $100 for (inspection, draining and replacing transmission fluid and filter).Went to get it done, and they only did a drain and fill. Asked the owner the next day, and he said my vehicle had the screen, and thus the filter didn't need replacing. The employee who helped me said if it's not changeable, then it can be cleaned. Cleaning didn't happen. Just a basic drain and fill. I paid full price for the service even though I feel full service wasn't done. I wish I went elsewhere for a few bucks more. Lesson learned. I also inquired about a transmission flush as stated on the website was a service they offer(which they don't), Joe did give good advice that flushes can sometimes hurt the transmission more than helping it, especially on higher mileage vehicles(165K) so I appreciated that. My trans seems to run fine but I've only driven it 10 miles or so.(not my daily driver). Employee used an all import use transmission oil. That was my bad, I should've asked exactly what it was to be sure as mitsubishi's are supposedly known to have sensitive trans.
I will say, both the employee, and the owner Joe seemed very nice, and Joe was pretty quick to responding to most of my questions I had.
Bottom line: Nice owner and employees, anyone going in may want to double check exactly what services will be done as Joe says the website needs to be updated. Could very well be a good shop based on some good reviews but for me,it was just ok.

Not sure where to even start with my POSITIVE review of this shop! I had an EGR valve replaced by them a few months back, and not only was the price very reasonable but the repair was done timely and the employees and owner are beyond nice. And no funny business of telling you that you have 10 other problems while you are there.... My thermostat is now out on my car and since I live on the east side of Portland I was not really wanting to drive out to the west side on my day off to get the repair done. After calling 8 different places this morning for an estimate, and being treated like complete crap and like a complete moron by every single person i talked to (aside from the guy at Meineke on SE 82nd, so kudos to him too), I decided that going over to the west side was well worth the drive! I'm not sure if most mechanics come across as abrubt and rude to everyone on the phone, but it is hard to not wonder if being a female is what causes them to talk to you like you are half retarded. I was raised in a garage working on Mopars with a car fanatic father, so I'm not completely brain dead in the car department. So being treated like you are completely STUPID, gets a little insulting after a couple phone conversations! This is NOT the case with these guys. AT ALL! Not the owner, or anyone else that answers the phone in the shop. I was pretty blown away after all the phone calls i made this morning as to how rude people on the phone can be. Maybe they are rude to everyone, but if you like being treated like a human being with an IQ of more than 50, call these guys! What a breath of fresh air! They take the time to ask what is going on and then talk to you about the problem PROFESSIONALLY! I will not take my car anywhere else from here on out. Even if taking it in on a day off is a little inconvenient from where i live, it is well worth it!!!!!
