I would give them zeros starts if it was an option. They changed my oil and then said they could fix other other issue with my car. The idiot employees keep quoting me random numbers "this piece would be 300$ new". Well they couldn't fix my car, it turned into a 160$ oil change. Don't go here. These people have no idea what they are doing.

I went to Big Rays Quick Lube today to get my oil changed. I bought the 5K Oil Change plus an air filter for a total of $58.24 When I presented their coupon, they had to call the owner, because they had never seen it before. It was for $50 off. After discussing it the owner stated that he would not accept the coupon because I did not present it before the service and stated that the coupon was not for oil changes. I pointed out that *the coupon did not state any of these conditions*. They said they do not write their own coupons, it was the publishers fault. I said that is not true, any owner that advertises should always see a prof of the ad. If there are errors they can be corrected then. If they did not prof the ad, before publishing, then it is up to the business owner to honor the discount. I was stunned that they placed the blame on the publisher. I told them I will not be returning and if the owner want to call me, I left my number. I wish I could give less then 1 star.

Big Ray's is great. The owner takes the time with patrons to ensure they are getting the best deal & their vehicle is in tip top shape. It's comforting to know they are honest and have your best interest at heart. On a recent visit there the owner uncovered that the oil change place in Brighton I received service at prior over charged me and misrepresented the services I paid for. I happened to show him my previous bill and he pointed out that he doesn't charge that much & he... See More

My first time at Big Ray's and it was a great experience! I got an oil change and was surprised when they didn't try to up sell me like other places have done in the past. While I got my oil change they filled my tires too! Super impressed with everything. They educated me on their products, services, and explained to me what they were doing with my car and why. They made suggestions on what my car needs but made sure to let me know to only come back when I was ready to. They were helpful and not pushy. They even changed my front blinker that was burnt out for free and that saved me A LOT of hassle! I will definitely be coming back for my oil changes! Super cool dudes! Lol thank you!!

I had my first experience with Big Rays today and I will definitely be going back! I was SO pleased with the customer service that was provided. All of the gentlemen were super nice and understanding of my wants and they got me in and out of there in a timely fashion. It makes sense now why there was a line out to the road of people waiting to see them. :) Thank you so much!

I would give them zeros starts if it was an option. They changed my oil and then said they could fix other other issue with my car. The idiot employees keep quoting me random numbers "this piece would be 300$ new or at the dealer it would be 250$". Well they couldn't fix my car, it turned into a 160$ oil change. Don't go here. These people have no idea what they are doing.

Great service. Got me the part I needed from O'Rileys and went above and beyond the call of duty servicing my vehicle. Definitely worth 5 stars or more. I have been taking my truck here for years and they will continue to see my business. Great shop!

I love Big Rays, Sam is always helpful whenever I have a car problem. Called him today, my car was leaking gas & he told me to bring it in & he'd check it out. Needless to say he's on it. I personally will never go anywhere else & neither should you. He's always got my back & if you want an experienced, professional, kind, honest Man...then go see him at Howell Big Rays. I've known him for years now & he always has a smile on his face. One time my battery died in a snow storm, well he sent on of his guys to my place to replace it so I could still get to work. Who does that...Sam! It's personal to him & he cares. Again, I will only go to him & so should you!

I have been taking my vehicles there for several years & never had a bad experience. They are honest people; Sam the owner has always treated me with respect and I have never felt ripped off. Recently, I took my Subaru there for an oil change & brake service. I was offered a rental car if I need to be else where while they did the work, but I opted to stick around. I witnessed all their employees hustle and work together in a professional and collaborative manner to help customers. They were all genuinely nice guys and kept me updated on the work on my car & showed me the parts they were working on. Their prices are lowest around for sure. I will continue to drive past a bunch of other oil change businesses to give Big Rays my time and money. My car is running better than ever and I have the peace of mind that knowledgeable and honest mechanics are keeping me on the road. Thanks Sam & crew!

3 days after buying my brand new 2013 Chrysler T&C, the transmission started giving all passengers a head/neck jolting shift. I drove 3 years and 77,000 miles with this horrible problem. Saw a coupon for Big Rays Quick Lube, Howell, MI for a transmission flush. The guys there were unreal. They showed my so many things on my car that needed replaced. I was never so happy to spend money. My transmission is better than the first day I pulled out of the dealership. I truly thought it couldn't be corrected (dealerships never did while Van was under warranty). Big Rays Quick Lube in Howell is nothing but PERFECT. I will be bringing all my vehicles there now for sure. THANK YOU THANK YOU. T T Hollister

Inexpensive, fast and a friendly staff. Basically the perfect oil change.
The inspection was very thorough but they didn't try to push a bunch of add ons.

I have been taking our family's cars here for several years. Not just oil changes, but they fixed our brakes several times and just installed struts and new front end components for half less than half of what Belle Tire quoted us. They have always bee friendly and quick, and as a local business they ave treated my referrals well. I trust their advise, even if it costs a little extra to have done that day because they do a good job.

Don't understand the bad reviews here. I've been going to this place for years. No complaints at all on service. I've never been up sold and in my case there is probably just cause for them to attempt it as my vehicle is not new & could probably use new filter, belts, flushes & so on. I will continue to use Big Rays.

When I was a young lady, my dad taught me a few good things that really paid off. I can tie a proper fishing knot, I can play a fierce game of monopoly, and I can check and change my own oil along with perform simple car maintenance.
That being said, I was APPALLED when I found myself as a passenger in a loved one's car at Big Rays. The person I was with went to have their oil serviced because it was the dead of winter and they were in desperate need of a change. Had it not been below freezing, I would have gladly offered a driveway and my help. Well, thank god I was a passenger in their car because the blood-sucking thieves at this place would have had their way with them.
First, even though it was explained an oil change was all that was wanted, the worker couldn't help but try and squeeze more out of the visit. It was as if it was his duty from God (or Allah in this case) to up-sell customers into things that weren't asked for and clearly unnecessary. He asked the person I was with to actually get out of the vehicle to come look at the "dangerous" things he found under the hood. Mind you, an oil change was all that was asked for and plus, this car had JUST undergone maintenance from a licensed mechanic. I could only take so much....
I got out of the passenger side seat to face the worker when he tried to insinuate that a new air filter was needed because it was "really bad". I was happy to inform him that it wasn't and could easily be cleaned with an air compressor. The dude should have took a clue that there wasn't a sucker in his presence. He couldn't help it though, like I said, it was his quest to up-sell.
I hardly sat back down when I had to go defend my loved one's pocketbook yet again. This time is was "extremely dangerous" belts. Are you kidding me!? This guy acted like your driving on your own death wish if your belts have some cracking. Show me a car that's been driven for a couple seasons that doesn't have some fissures in the belts. This naturally happens and guess what, it's OK. Belts will last you a long time and don't need to be changed when they start to show wear. I explained to the worker all of this, even told him that every car I drove had belts with wear and "look I'm still alive!"
Blocking the worker from up-selling the person I was with was awesome. However, he was so mad that he started to provoke me into arguments. Claiming I had insulted his character and I had treated him and his staff "like dogs". I was also called rude and some other choice names. I didn't even give him and his ignorance the decency of a response. I let all his gripes fall on deaf ears. Instead of getting robbed for a +$50 oil change like the unsatisfied customer below, the person I was with only had to pay $28.
Word to the wise, changing your own oil is ALWAYS best but if you have to go to an oil change place, don't go to Big Rays. They will try and sell you the moon at over-inflated prices for things you really don't need or can do yourself. I'm proud to have shown this weasel that even though I'm a girl, I'm not an idiot when it comes to simple car maintenance. It's too bad he didn't try to suggest the battery was bad if it had corrosion on top because I would have loved to flex my "you can clean it off with pepsi and water" knowledge....Thanks Dad! I'm finally appreciating some of the things I learned from you.

Big Ray should be called Big Rip Off. Sign says 19.95 , was offered high milage oil with two different price from two different people. End up paying 25.39 because he uses something thing I wasn't even aware off. Dishonest and unprofessional. First time here and may be last.

We had been going there for oil changed because we were new to the area. The "manager" smokes while he is servicing cars, which is so unprofessional. I understand car repair is a dirty business, but seriously, they are all filthy. They convinced me I needed an oil flush. I took the bait. Not a week later we went to our auto repair place and whatever they did at Big Ray's messed up our transmission. Luckily they were able to repair the damage, do a new flush and the repair place didn't even worry about charging us for the new flush. I will never, ever set foot into Big Ray's again. You shouldn't either!

I've taken all of my cars here for oil changes and maintenance since I've lived in howell. I run synthetic in my vehicles because I think it's the best option for the engine. I've had them do my regular fluid maintenance at recommended intervals (radiator, trans, etc.). I have them change the filter with the oil because that's what the manufacturer calls for and I think it's the right thing to do. I like the manager (Sam, I think). Others in reviews refer to him as the guy with the accent. I've cross-checked anything he's recommended against my manuals, and he has never recommended anything that wasn't called for. I have never had an argument with them, and have never been cheated or pressured by them. Maybe this isn't the best place to get the cheapest oil change in town, I don't know. If you're that cheap, you should probably not go to an oil change place anyway. But my 2009 Suzuki SX4 has been maintained here since day zero, has 100K on it, and I've had zero problems. I think what some people call an upselling scam is actually these guys recommending what's in the manual and what they think is best for your vehicle. Maybe Sam is more passionate about his customers and their vehicles than the guy at the bargain basement oil change place who is just trying to run as many oil changes through as possible. Contrary to other reviews, I don't think he's trying to rip anybody off.
