I have taken all 3 mercedes here

I have had three mercedes over the last 7 years. I have had 3 bad mechanics, I found the most honest mechanic with George. They do exist. I have never paid more than the minimum and have had only good experiences.

I used to hate taking my Mercedes-Benz in for service. Why? because I have a classic 1970 benz 280s and second is I am a woman. It was like mechanics were out to get me. Mercedes repairs are expensive, and it was always something. That changed when I found G&N. The owner, George is such a nice man. He never overcharges me. Like the last time I went in for a repair. It turned out my Mercedes only needed a fuse changed. They fixed it and didn't even charge me. Now that I found G&N, I am not going anywhere else.

G&N Motors MBZ Certified Mercedes-Benz Service&Repair was my first stop, and really should have been my last. However, I wanted to shop around before purchasing a vehicle. After a few hellish experiences at other local dealerships, I returned to G&N Motors MBZ Certified Mercedes-Benz Service&Repair , which was a breath of fresh air. Everyone there was so awesome, so friendly, and so helpful. No pressure, just honest and well intentioned. I love my car and I love that I was able to 100% trust where I purchased it from.

We have bought a few cars from G&N Motors MBZ Certified Mercedes-Benz Service&Repair and are always pleased with the customer service we have received from the stuff as well as our service and maintenance representative . They both are very professional and responsive to our questions and needs. The dealership provides snacks and drinks in the waiting room that has a comfortable atmosphere. They also have a large inventory of Certified Pre-Owned Cars (warrantied) and we found a fabulous, like new, 2 year old Golf (2012) with only 7,000 miles on it! I am back to commuting and love the comfortable seats, stereo and zippy feel to the car.

I stopped here for a quote on a repair for my wife's car and it was the second highest in cost (the highest was the stealership).
I had spoken with many shops to get the feel for the people who own it and to get an idea of who may be working on the car.
The person I was instructed to talk with seemed to be pulling numbers out of the air (I received minimal eye contact when communicating) as he was giving me the costs. He was stating a few components that would also need to be repaired, while using overly complicated terminology that wasn't needed.
I got a quote of about $1600 for intake manifold replacement (mind you - no one asked to look at the car to confirm if it was the right thing to repair - as every other shop I went to did), while the dealer wanted $1900. Another shop was able to do the job for a fraction of $1600 quote amount- without buying a new manifold due to a broken triangle lever.
Objective aspect: High quotes
Subjective aspect: I couldn't find it in me to trust this shop. Customer service wasn't good enough for a certified Mercedes Benz repair shop (I only considered them because they are certified).

Once again, I cannot thank George and his crew enough for replacing my cam shaft and belt in a timely manner and fair pricing. Always professional and honest.
For good measure, when George gave me an estimate, I requested the part numbers. I did a little comparison shopping. No one could beat his price. Not Simonson, Westwood Auto, Malibu Motors nor 405 Auto.
Thank you, you really are the BEST!!

I have a 2003 Mercedes. George has helped me the last year. It's not necessarily cheap, but that's probably how Mercedes rolls. He is a nice guy, personally looks at your car and seems like a genie as he immediately can figure out the issue.

George is amazing. I have been coming here for over 5 years. This is the only place I can trust with my car. They know more than Mercedes Benz Santa Monica. This place is HONEST and PROFESSIONAL. These phrases are hard to be associated with when it comes to mechanical places but this place exhibits that traits in quality. I have recommended and will always recommend this place to all of my friends and family because when you're there, they treat you like friends and family. This place is the most trusted mechanic place in the whole Los Angeles county. Thank you George.

You can't find a better Mercedes mechanic in WLA than George.
When a CHECK ENGINE light on my 1998 SLK came on, I drove to G&N immediately.
George plugged in this code reader, looked at the code, opened the hood, removed the engine cover, showed me a tiny split in a 2-inch-long rubber air hose, replaced the hose, closed up the engine and the hood, and I was good to go.
No charge. Can your MBZ mechanic beat that?

I called George and asked him about a problem with my car pulling to the side, and told him that a number of mechanics had blamed this one a sub-frame mount. He asked me to bring the car in, and despite being overwhelmingly busy, he test drove the car, and assessed the problem right there and then.
Not only was George incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, he was also willing to go out of his way to help me. This is one of the most honest, trustworthy and knowledgeable Mercedes mechanics I have found in Los Angeles.
I have personally recommended George and G&N to several others, and I wholeheartedly suggest that anyone in need of an honest, hard working, knowledgeable and friendly mechanic go to G&N without any hesitation.

I brought in a 2000 E55 with a problem with pneumatic lumbar supports in seats. Over a span of at least 5 visits, they tried and failed over and over and over to repair my car. Each time, there was a different explanation for why they failed. They ordered parts from Germany but did not communicate when the parts came in. I would never have had any idea parts had arrived, if I hadn't called THEM after weeks and weeks hearing nothing.
During the multiple extended periods they had my car, I incurred more than $1000 in rental charges while my car sat in their shop. Frequently, when I would bring my car in, I would tell the owner, George, when I HAD TO HAVE my car back for some obligation. He agreed to those deadlines and then blew by them REPEATEDLY, with zero communication, acknowledgement or apology.
During the multiple times they had my car in for repairs, I was literally NEVER contacted with status information. The only information I got about status, I got if and when I called them. And, when I did call, it was often very difficult to reach the owner, who was the only person who could provide any information.
When they finally "fixed" my car, they charged me an outrageous amount, with no concession for the time, trouble and expense they had put me to. And, within days, their repair failed.
They never provided me with an estimate, even though they are REQUIRED BY LAW to do so. In fact, I filed a formal complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair. They were cited by the Bureau for failing to provide a estimate. The Bureau tried to mediate our dispute, but G&N was unwilling to address my concerns. Rather, they offered to tear out the work they had done, give me back my money, leave me with exactly the problem I came in with six months earlier and make me "eat" the time, inconvenience and expense of their inability to fix what they were supposed to fix.
Please note: I previously posted a favorable review about this business. I'm not a hostile, difficult to please troll. Rather, I was a polite, respectful REPEAT CUSTOMER who was treated very, very poorly and unfairly.
I will not patronize this business again.... ever.

Excellent service all around. George is the nicest guy you'll ever meet in the MBZ service repair industy. He always has a smile on his face, has fair prices and will explain everything for you in a non condescending manor. I used to bring my '95 E320 to him when I lived in Studio City. After my first visit I, all I could think of is the thousands of dollars that I wasted by going to the dealership. I haven't been to George in the past few years because I was out of state. I just had my C320 serviced and I can tell you that nothing has changed. I will continue to bring my car to him. It's such a relief knowing that I can trust G&N to take care of me.

I don't recommend this place if you have a new, recent model Mercedes. First of all, you probably don't need any maintenance. If you have to do repairs, search all shops in your area.
-the "A" service, "B" service, "C" service cost same price as dealer.
-there is no regular shuttle service as dealer. (I have ridden once it was disorganized.)
-Major repairs is overcharged.
-Finally, stole my stuff. Hats worth $$$ and a part of my car worth $$$. I could not believe this.
Another shop here
went to this level.
MANY of THE POSITIVE REVIEWS HERE ARE FRIENDS OF THE OWNER. How do I know? Sometimes I see other makes of car, Not Mercedes pulling up. Says "Mercedes" outside the shop," so those with insider connections come here. 11/18/2014 is for a BMW. There are reviews by people with 1 review and one not for this shop: 5/29/2012
"This is my favorite of all Mercedes dealerships, and not just because it's the closest to my house.
I got my car here and brought it in for the maintenance just now. The stuff is really friendly and work pretty fast. Coffee shop even has NON-FAT LATTE, don't forget to grab a coffee voucher though." This place does not have coffee, or latte.

Mechanics are often associated with being dishonest and trying to screw you over. George is truly a man in his own league. He's honest, thoughtful, and won't sell you on something you don't need. He is a master of his craft, a very calm and patient man, and is always putting the customer first. If there is any a problem with your experience, frankly, it's most likely your fault.
I've been bringing my BMW 330i here for YEARS. I drive all the way from Encino to get my work done with George, and that won't be changing. I also bring my 1988 E30 325i here as well, and although it's a relatively easy car to work on, he doesn't charge more due to its "age". His prices are extremely competitive and fair, his service is impeccable, and his shop speaks for itself. Take a look around and see the volume of $100K German automobiles put in his trust, and you'll realize why his reputation precedes him. I can honestly say that I don't ever despise having to go to the mechanic.
With that said I'm due for a service, see you soon George!

If you drive a Benz and are the stereotypical snob comfortable over-paying for an elitist, pretentious atmosphere at the service center, such as what you will experience at Mercedes-Benz of Beverly Hills, ordering a latte macchiatto as you loudly reschedule your next dog therapy session, then please do spare the swarthy, humble G&N Motors guys your visit. You'll find no frills here, no ass-kissing, ego-pumping or even a lambswool car wash -- just the best old-school mechanic shop in town run by a true angel of a man named George.

Honest? Probably. Incompetent? Yes, unfortunately. My experience has been that they just don't check their work. Recently our 07 e550 was laid up at G & N for six days awaiting a power steering pump. When George told us our car was "ready", I asked him to check the entire car. He assured us that "everything is fine, no problems...needless to say the power steering failed two days after the car was returned to us, rendering it dangerous to drive; "no problem, bring it back". (George) As well, on this occasion, and on three others, his mechanics failed to reset the computer; "no problem, bring it back..." In the waiting area, my wife spoke with an elderly lady who informed her that she had waited a couple of months for a part to become available for her car: her car failed on her drive home from G & N Motors; "just bring it back." I am glad that George mentions that he has "10,000 customers"; with so many, it's no wonder thoroughness falls through the cracks. Yes, the dealer charges more, but our car runs superbly. In the end, competence, trust and peace of mind are well worth a premium.

I was excited to bring my Smart in after all the great reviews.
I called in to make sure they work with Smart, so I went there right after they opened.
I bought it used so I wanted to make sure it's everything okay.
I asked for 40.000 miles check up but all they did was changed the oils and checked the all the fluids=$140 mmm. All my friends said that's expensive.
I got my car back around 2p and I was happy that they said my car looks okay and I got my car back UNTIL I got home and realized that there was about 2 inch of scratch on the driver side of front panel...
Plus there were black dirt spots on cloth interior from obviously the mechanic's working fingers...
I called and they asked me to bring the car in so that they can see.
George took a look at it said 'are you sure it wasn't there before?'
Wow... I bought a car only a week ago from a dealer and it looked brand new inside out.
I pointed out that inside dirty spots. He took a cloth which looks not washed for a while and sprayed some chemical and wiped them off saying it'll be gone.
No apologize at all but he agreed to fix it the scratch.
Few days later, I got my car back with the scratch gone.
But inside, again the dirty spots are still visible and there were dirts from shoe when the mechanic open the door.
Overall. I think George is a nice guy and do his job but not sure about his workers.
They are just careless.
I was hoping this spot would be my go to place...
Maybe if you know him in person, he'd be careful with your car but didn't happen to me which was a big disappointment.

Greatest Mercedes Benz Facility I've ever been to. I've been to over 25 different mercedes repair shops and no one can fix my S550 2014. I had an electrical issue on my car and 13 different dealerships couldn't fix it. I was searching on Yelp and I spotted g & n motors. I went there and spoke with George, I made an appointment and I left my mercedes there. He later diagnosed the problem and called me, he explained my cars electrical issue clearly. He told me it would take two to three weeks and I told him I don't care how long it'll take I just want it fixed properly. After a couple weeks I picked up my car and the issue was completely fixed. Until now I have been driving my car without any problems and I definitely recommend G & N motors over any mechanical repair shops no matter what anyone says. They are #1 on my list! 38 different Mercedes repair facilities couldn't fix my car but G & N motor did it!

This is quite random but I have to mention it. I just got a used Mercedes CLK500 and the center console box lid had popped off completely and I couldn't get it back on. I didn't know what to do. I searched for a Mercedes place, and saw that G&N was a couple of blocks from where I was located. So I just drove over and walked into the shop and said "hey, I'm just wondering, can anyone help me with this?"
One of the mechanics-- I'm afraid I didn't catch his name-- asked me about the problem, said it was actually a common problem and came over to the parking meter where I had parked the car. He jumped in, showed me what he was doing as he popped the lid right back on. 5 minutes and boom, my problem is solved.
I tried to tip him $10 but he wouldn't accept it.
I've never known about G&N before. Today was my first experience with them... but I hope not my last. I love great, surprise, free customer service like they showed me today. Thank you so much guys!!

I brought my car in for the breaks to be done. I priced it out online and it was going to be $300 just for the parts. Doing the breaks at home is really tough labor but I was certain it would cost an arm and a leg at the mechanic. I came in and talked to George. He took a look and told me I only needed to do the front and that the back may last some time longer.
It was really refreshing to get an expert opinion that wasn't trying to up sell me on anything. Thanks to that I will definitely be returning for my service A, the back breaks, and pretty much any other service.
As for the establishment it is small and bustling, a sign that he does good business. They offer shuttle service within a close radius too.
I highly recommend George.

So my "Consumer Electronics offline" warning had been coming on for sometime. I had been living with it but after going through 2 battery replacements my alternator went too. G & N took their gloves off for this one. It took sometime (be patient) but its been several weeks now and I honestly can't believe it is fixed. I had given up on it. Again the price was hard to believe. Well no my gas tank just went and I've been told it needs to be replaced. Hopefully he can work some magic on that. Will be back there again soon...

Great service and honest. I have had bad experiences at my dealership service center and decided to check out G&N Motors. I was so surprised at their honest opinions and also they do not charge a fee for a diagnostic test (those pesky check engine lights!). They are pretty quick and have a small waiting room with magazines and a television. They will also drive you anywhere in the area. I noticed that there were many customers who have been coming to them for a long time. For the price, service, and honest work, I will continue to come here as long as I drive a Mercedes.

Good service and honest. Asked for Alfredo good mechanic. Brought my car there had a check engine light turned on told me what's the problem in details and even showed me where it's causing that and the date of the car would be ready and how much it would cost compare to the other shop where I asked trying to rip me off. Good thing I went to G&N Motors. Alfredo's the man!

I always know my e320 is in good hands at G&N. I've been a loyal customer for years after they correctly diagnosed and repaired a transmission problem that the dealer incorrectly diagnosed. The dealer said I needed a new transmission when in fact it was a computer malfunction, saving me a couple thousand, and a whole lot of stress. I never have to worry that I am being sold unnecessary services. Not to mention you get better than dealer factory service at a MUCH better price.
They may not have all of the bells and whistles as the dealer (loaner cars and cappuccino), but peace of mind is worth so much more!

If you're looking for an honest, reliable, sweet, straightforward, reasonable, and centrally located mechanic to work on your Mercedes, George is your guy! I originally found out about him through my friend who bought and sold Mercedes and he said that he was honest and fair. I would say George has been more than that he always helps you with a smile he's courteous conscientious and is not the kind of person who would rip you off. He's gone out of his way to help me numerous times even though I no longer have a Mercedes. He's a family man I trust him! How many people can say that about their mechanic?

George is the best. My best friend has been coming to George for the last 20 years. I started coming to him the last 10 years. He maintains and services all my Bimmers and Mercedes. George is the man! What an honest guy who isnt like other service centers.
Thank you George for being honest and always helping the customer out. You are the man!

I just sold my 04 benz and took over my brother's audi. Now I am heart broken! What will I do without George and G&N Motors who do not service Audi??? Finding a good mechanics who is reliable, trustworthy and charges fairly is like finding a bestfriend (scratch that - finding a partner). I don't even know where to go to replace my audi's brake pads, it's like going on a first date:
- what if the place sucks
- what if they are not honest/ tell lies
- what if the new place overcharge me
- what if they are flaky
- what if..................
I'd much rather stay in an old relationship, alas my brother did not share the same love for benz as I do, now what do I do??

My car broke down late in the afternoon while heading home to Santa Barbara. I had head that G&N were good and came away very impressed. They were quick, fair and reasonably priced. I ran everything by my mechanic back home and he corroborated everything I thought. What a pleasure to find fair, hardworking, efficient mechanics!

Since 1992, I've owned six (6) Mercedes in just about each sedan class. To date, I have not met someone more knowledgeable about Mercedes Benz than the owner George. For almost two decades G&N motors have been there for each car I've owned and all of my family members as well as many of my friends. Each time I've referred someone to G&N motors he resolved their issue the first time and they quickly made G&N their preferred auto shop. Simply put, G&N Motors is the BEST! If you're looking for an honest Mercedes Benz Certified mechanic then look no further; You won't be disappointed.

Unfreaking real. I have a 2007 CLK. My check engine light went off and my car was not starting the way it suppose to. Sometimes it didnt even start from the parking position. When I did my research everything pointed to a 2k ti 3k fix. Since it was so expensive I decided not to take my car to the Mercedes for the first time ever. I took it to G&N Motor and WOW!!! They fix it for only $340. I still cant believe it. Mercedes charge you more than that just to change a tire. I will definetly be bringing my car here from now on. I

I called to ask for a fuel filter replacement on my BTC diesel. Girl who answered the phone said "george says that filter is located within the fuel pump and it will need major work, costing around a thousand dollars."
I recommend to anyone with a Blutec diesel to take your vehicle elsewhere. Stay far away from G&N because they are clueless. The fuel filter is located under the hood below the engine cover smack dab in the middle. It looks like a small canister which is accessed by taking off the air intake hose and two clic clamps. The filter replacement is around $50-60 plus labor. Mercedes dealerships ask $450-500 max, George wants a thousand? Again go elsewhere if you have a Bluetec.

Overall very knowledgeable and helpful team.
Charged me 2 hours labor for a job that probably took 30 minutes, which isn't great, but acceptable. However the problem still remained after service, so I will have to take it back in again. Either it was not road tested after the fix, or I was given a bad replacement part, or the problem was not diagnosed properly. Will update when repaired.
Other than that, a pleasant experience that hopefully they will remedy on my next visit.

11:00pm, Friday night. MB had a sudden loss of power and warning lights came on while on the 10 freeway as I was about to exit to go to Compton. Danger, Will Robinson. Danger.
U-turned it back to the west side, came back home and started googling the error code to diagnose whatever could be wrong with the poor MB. Yelp G&N, notice they open at 8:00, and prepare for the worst.
Come 7:59am I call, George answers and tells me to bring it in.
8:15 am, I drive up, park in the garage, and tell him all the different things I think are wrong with the car.
My expert diagnosis given to George, he politely puts up with my faux car knowledge, pops open the hood of the car, and finds the tensioner belt completely ajar from the pulley it was supposed to rest on. I didn't even know what that was prior to him showing it to me.
11:00am I come back to pick up the car, new tensioner belt and pulley replaced. One hour of labor, two minor parts, and a smaller than expected $220.00 bill.
Excellent service, quick, trustworthy and competent. All attributes we should expect from a mechanic, yet rarely find. Good on you, G&N.

First, a disclosure: I don't usually leave reviews on Yelp, which I probably should as it adds to the overall transparency of local businesses. But alas, I spend most of my time reading reviews instead. This though, is one of the rare times I find myself aching to leave a review.
There are a few shockingly negative reviews left here about G&N Motors, and I'd like to personally counter them. One review seems to be left in error, another review for a place never visited or tried, and another filled with contradictory statements. To clarify, what I mean by shockingly is that I have been to G&N Motors more times than I can remember and I have never experienced anything less than excellent service -- and I'd go as far as saying one of the best service experiences of any industry, food or automative, or anything else.
1/ About wait times and delays: Cars are complicated machines, and at times, it can take long to fix a car. It takes time to do things right, and I understand that while people want their vehicles returned promptly, there are times when something just can't be on-time. However, it doesn't mean that you were given false information. I work in the computer industry and regularly deal with customers. What happens when you give the customer a certain time, only to be told by your supplier later on that the part you sourced by the distributor is delayed for whatever reason? And then their manufacturing source tells the distributor the same thing? I gave the customer what I thought in good faith to be accurate information. But when you realize how complicated and long a supply chain can be, delays can occur. It doesn't mean you lied, or was dishonest. Sometimes it's even a lot more simpler: Addressing one problem can reveal another. It's normal. A particular problem may have been caused by something else. How often does this chain of events occur on a computer for people, let alone a car?
Also... when you take your place to a place that's busy, have some perspective: people like going to a place known to be a good place. You can go to that 5-star rated restaurant for excellent food and wait a bit, or get your fill quickly at a fast-food restaurant. Your choice. It's all in priorities. And when it comes to a machine that is responsible for your daily safety, I'd put my priorities down on quality over speed.
2/ When it comes to problems, any one of the techs working at G&N would explain the problem clearly to me. While I usually go to George directly for an explanation, I get the same accurate information from anyone on his staff.
3/ I own an SL500, and service and parts on the car doesn't come cheap, and I've spent a significant time looking around. I went to G&N Motors because of the reviews I saw on Google (Yes, Google has lots of reviews of G&N Motors too:
). I was not disappointed. The pricing is always very fair, and in some cases, I don't even get charged for small jobs. But don't be fooled by what is an actual small job versus what you may think is one. Sometimes I had asked G&N to take a look into a problem that I thought was extremely minor, only to have them spend some time to make sure it gets addressed properly, and on top of that, not charge me for it. Why? I don't know. But I appreciate it. Unless you've worked in the industry, you wouldn't understand. But I get why sometimes George refused to take payment on a quick fix.
Which brings me to my 4th point.
4/ George, and his team at G&N has been nothing short of amazing when it comes to honesty, and in a business like automotive services and repair, honesty is what takes you to the summit. I am not an expert on car mechanics, but with the vast resources available online, it's not difficult to find out if someone's lying to you. I have never felt any ounce of dishonesty from G&N Motors. In fact, I always leave knowing more about my car and how it works after each visit.
There are no businesses in the world that are "perfect" but there are those that try to deliver on consistent honesty, deep technical understanding, and a sincere sense of care for both product and customer. G&N Motors comes as close to perfect as you're ever going to get. It's easy to deliver shining service today and tomorrow, but can you do it again and again every day for years?
Not everything is about the dollar. When I drive my car everyday, my priorities are safety, honesty, knowledge, care, and consistency. I take my car to G&N Motors because they have the same priorities I do.

For a Mercedes mechanic who knows the brand, and will give you great service and fair pricing, this is the spot.
I'm giving them 5 stars which is rare for me. Here's the thing though, having owned over 20 cars of various brands, to find a mechanic who is honest and not sticking it to me is a rare treat.
After being a VW and BMW guy for years, I purchased my first Mercedes (560sl). I got it from a car collector friend of mine, and knew it had some issues but had no idea what was in store for me. The car had been driven sporadically for a year, was so dirty you wouldn't believe it had ever been clean and was being used for storage.
Even though it had the potential to be a real nightmare, the hard-top/convertible option was too tempting to pass up.
After cleaning it and having it detailed I began to drive it and all the issues started to surface. I had no idea where to start or what the true nature of the repairs would be but I knew it needed an oil change, having gone a year without one.
I called and they got the car in that same day. Yup, it was more than jiffy lube and "chain store" places. Worth it? You bet. First, I felt confident they weren't going to strip my plug, or damage anything while doing the work. Plus I wouldn't have the cashier try and sell me a new air filter/cabin filter or some other silly thing I didn't need.
Along with the oil change, they gave the car a full inspection and gave me a list of all the issues it had. I didn't get some scare/pressure tactic to fix everything there and then. George simply told me what it needed, and what it would probably cost.
I'm addressing the issues and it's currently in for it's 3rd repair and I couldn't be happier. Each repair has been done on time and within the price range discussed.
Furthermore, I had a problem with my drivers side door which they fixed free of charge. They actually didn't even mention it; I got my car back and viola, the door worked.

This is my favorite of all Mercedes dealerships, and not just because it's the closest to my house.
I got my car here and brought it in for the maintenance just now. The stuff is really friendly and work pretty fast.
Coffee shop even has NON-FAT LATTE, don't forget to grab a coffee voucher though.
4 starts is due to the fact that the rent a car I got was a for mini suv, because they were out of Mercedes! Never drove one, so I'm literally horrified.

This review is long overdue, but when it comes to Mercedes mechanics, George at G&N is the man. I have an older model diesel (30+ years old), which comes with its own headaches in terms of finding parts, but George and his team are always up for the task. He's extremely reliable, very honest, and always gives you a fair price. When the shop's really busy, it might take an extra couple of days to get your car back, but for the quality of service and price, I can't imagine taking my benz anywhere else.

George, his workers, his shop, his service and everything about this place is awesome. I've always been intimidated to go to auto repair shops because it always feels like repairmen are out to get you or they just don't know what they are doing. You will never feel that way about this place. George is a great businessman who knows how to keep his customers happy. I bring my car here for service and repairs. He never tries to over charge me or tell me there are 5 million things wrong and 2 million things that need to be changed. He tells you the truth, which is so rare in this business. I am definitely a very happy customer who trusts his work.

What a disaster.
Took my vintage Mercedes here for a simple gauge repair. They charged me $400 for it. Car went about 50 miles and the gauges stopped working again. Took it back and they "fixed" it again, and the car left with more problems than it came in with. They graciously fixed most of the new problems. 4 months later, original gauge problem is back.
I took the car elsewhere and was quoted $100 to do what G&N couldn't do for $400. Awful. And to top it off, they will gladly tell you your car will be done by Wednesday and not have it ready until the following Monday. The shop is way too busy and they need to focus on quality and not quantity.

After moving to LA 3 years ago with my Mercedes, I've been trying long and hard to find an auto shop to entrust my vehicle with. Last year, I went on Yelp and found this shop near my work because I needed some work done on my suspension which was just rusted out from bringing the car from Michigan. I live downtown and work in Beverly Hills so I've gotten quotes from the dealerships and other shops but no one's price or service and trustworthiness compared to G&N.
George and his crew are really nothing but the best guys in town. I can say, George isn't expensive but the work involved with any Mercedes isn't cheap either. I mean these guys have to make a living just like you and I and George is more than fair. These guys know more about your Mercedes than anyone as they're certified Mercedes mechanics themselves (George and their head mechanic Chris, I cannot speak for others as I have only worked with George, Chris and Fidel). But everyone at the shop is very respectful, courteous and just... "chill." No one is trying to pressure you or pitch you anything, they're too busy for that nonsense.
They're honest and trustworthy, which is why they're so busy... and busy is good, because that means they're not starving to steal your money. Their good business naturally brings them good money.
Sometimes, I cringe a little when they tell me how much it will be to fix something, but you know what... I bought a Mercedes, not a Honda, I asked for it.
I just got into an accident last night up on Big Bear from the storm and will see if I can fix my Benz at a collision shop because I know these guys don't do body work (but I wish they did) but the next Benz I buy, I will surely never take to the dealer again... because these guys are better than the dealer and won't rob you.
George runs an honest business and is a family man. No crook would run his business and plaster pictures of his family and kids in their office. He knows all his customers love him.
On a side note, these guys drove me to and from work 4-5 miles away while my car was in the shop free of charge. I run a business myself and I know a great business when I see one.

Sorry to break the 5 star mark on this service center, but I am so upset that words cannot describe the emotions I felt while my car was being serviced and right now.
I took in my 2011 E350 to get my first service on the car. Even though G&N charges $175 for the service, just like the dealership, I decided to go based on the reviews.
G&N Motors isn't the prettiest place. First off, there's no AC and it's very hot and smells like exhaust. The cars are packed in there like sardines so the mechanics constantly have to lean/press against cars to move around the service center. THis means that marring and scratches were imparted on my immaculate black car. I told George to make sure no towel touches the paint (in case you all didn't know, the towels used at car service places are filled with sand, rocks, leaves, and other debris from other cars and are usually not washed). Despite this, every time I looked over, I saw him removing smudges from the car with his horrible microfibers, which scratched the heck out of my car.
When someone was leaning on my car, pushing the dirt on my car into the paint causing surface scratches and I told them to please move, they said, "Everyone's cars get leaned on/touched in this shop." It doesn't matter. My car shouldn't have scratches caused by jeans on the paint or oily smudges.
Why should there be smudges on my car when George advertises a "white glove" treatment on the car? Ridiculous...
During the service, I saw George use lubricant in a WD-40 bottle. WD-40 is not approved for use on Mercedes cars because it dries out plastics and rubbers. Yet there he was, spraying it all over my paint (silicone is actually very, very bad for paint). Also, techs were putting boxes on my car, imparting even more scratches onto the hood.
After the service, I went back in the car and saw black smudges on my beige center console (White glove treatment??? - I think not.) My car was covered in silicone and it was smeared around by the towels George used.
I now need to break out my Porter Cable and remove the scratches myself.
Oh and one more thing, online, George says Service A includes replacing the air filter on E class models. When I was paying for the service, the lady tried charging me the full $175. It's a good thing I was watching the mechanics during the service. They did not replace the filter nor did they clean it as George and the clerk told me. How did I know they didn't clean it? The air filter is located under the glove box, yet I saw no one go under the glove box to do anything.
All in all, this place is not worth it. Last time I took my other car to the dealership, they caused less damage than this place.
On the plus side, the other mechanic who worked on my car was very kind and didn't use any horrible towels or materials on my car. He even put a nice plastic sheet on my steering wheel to prevent oils coming on to it. Oh, and he wore white gloves the whole time.

Needed to replace my headlights, so I yelped the closest Mercedes repair shop, and called this place to see how much it would cost. They told me that it was free (since I had already replacement bulbs), so I moseyed over there, and they helped me immediately. It took the guy probably less than ten minutes to do it, so I was grateful they didn't charge me for anything, even though I know some other places would.
Even though I only got my headlights replaced, I will most likely come back if I have any other problems with my car. They keep a full shop of European cars (primarily Mercedes), and even in the ten minutes I was there, another three cars pulled up (on a Wednesday afternoon), so I have a good impression that they know what they're doing. And they don't come off as scam artists, as many repair shops/dealerships do, so I'm REALLY glad I found this place.

George is the best, I've been here three times for regular Mercedes-Benz scheduled maintenance on my 2005 C240, and each time, the service has been fast, courteous, and the best price after comparing three or four other places (this is AFTER taking coupons at some of the three or four other places into account). I don't go anywhere else, now, and you really don't need anything else. They even replaced my headlight bulb without a labor charge! As is sometimes the case, loyal Yelpers are treated well here, and it's also helpful to pay cash. Five stars for sure.

George at G&N Motors is one of the nicest persons I've seen. Me and my family have been a happy customer of him for past 20 years and every time he has greeted us with a smile and offer to help. I have read some unfair reviews about his business but people got to understand that sometimes cars fail again but how the business handles the issue is important. George is like an Angel who always tries to accomodate every customer. He stands behind his work no matter what. He has done so many favors for me. Even when I had issues with a bodyshop he stepped in and helped. He deserves all the best in life. I hope his business grows more and more eventhough he is always having alot of happy customers. Many times when I was there and I chatted with customers, they all told me they love him. :) thank you George.

I've previously had three older Mercedes (80's vintage) and recently bought a later model, 2007 ML350. I had an issue with the transmission sticking in first and found G&N online. Given the advanced electronics on newer cars and the potential for a big repair bill, I was looking for an alternative to Dealer pricing and up-selling. G&N delivered completely! George is a pleasure to work with, as other reviews will attest. His knowledge, his diagnostic equipment, and the excellent mechanics working with him will make me a long term customer. I want to give special credit to Chris, the mechanic who worked with me. He worked diligently with my third party warranty company, even after they initially denied the claim, to get the majority of the repairs covered. G&N's pricing is fair and reasonable, and I would have paid for the repairs out of pocket anyway, but Chris' effort saved me a bunch of cash. I'm sold. As long as I own a Mercedes, I'll take it to G&N.

The customer service and prices at Georges shop are the best in town. I purchased a 2008 ml 350 and needed schedule a service. Other shops and the dealer were way over priced. Just picked up my car from George, to whom I have been taking my car for the past year. In the course of reviewing several hundred dollars of services performed, I noticed that they had changed my engine oil (a very standard service). I pointed out that when I dropped the car off two days prior, we had both agreed that an oil change was premature and unnecessary. George immediately noticed this mistake and credited me for that portion of the service. Given that the parts and labor for that oil change had already been incurred, I thought that was pretty big of him to pull it out with no questions asked. Here's an honest mechanic and a Mercedes auto shop that you can trust.

UPDATE 6/7/12
i've gone back many times to george since my initial review. it's been great each time. mostly they have been for regularly scheduled maintenance on my mercedes and each time has been easy to schedule, fast, and reasonably priced with no problems.
one time my car had a problem in that the airco wasn't blowing cold and i was getting a weird check engine type message on my dash. since george isn't close to where i work, i took it to a non-mercedes mechanic to check out first, who by the way isn't a bad mechanic but just not a mercedes specialist. that guy poked around and said it was probably a problem with the compressor and i should schedule more time to come back for him to check it out.
i decided to make the time to drive to george to have him take a look. george plugs his laptop into my car (which the non-mercedes mechanic couldn't do) and then told me all my car needed was more airco freon, which he then filled up for me. problem solved. man, that was a lot of headache and expense avoided. since then, i don't care how far george is from where i am-- i've always taken my mercedes to him for all things big and small and you should too.
[ps: i am not affiliated with this company in any way and this is an independent review.]

Two people who do not know each other both referred me to George. Just as a point of comparison, I called the BMW dealer, got a quote over the phone, then called George and got a much lower quote (about 60% of the dealer's estimate). I took the car to George, and when I picked it up, the final price was a touch LOWER than what he had originally quoted me.
I was initially unsure because G and N advertises that they specialize in Mercedes Benz, but they definitely know how to correctly service BMWs as well. I've been a client for over two years now, and I highly recommend this garage!

G&N responds to my comments by questioning whether I am even competent to review a place that I have never patronized. George is missing the point of my review. I never questioned their service, in fact, I'll even assume for the sake of my argument that their Service A is perfect. Nonetheless one would expect an independent facility like G&N wouldn't charge such high rates for service. G&N even concedes that dealership's rip people off ($75 for a bulb), nonetheless, they make no mention of my original qualm: G&N charges the same amount for service as my actual MB dealership. This company's website even makes much of the Magnuson-Moss Act of 1975, but what's the point when I can just go to MB and get my service and all my under-warranty fixes for the $175?

To make a long story short, I recently got my Mercedes serviced at a dealership in Northern California only to find that when I drove to LA the next day, my engine was incapable of accelerating like normal. I called various service shops around LA and received quotes of $200 plus just for an engine diagnostic. Thankfully, I spoke with Chris at G&N Motors who told me he would do a FREE diagnosis, and I could come in immediately. I watched him closely as he ran the diagnostic and studied the car engine, and he quickly found and showed me the problem. He recommended that I take the car back to the dealership who botched the job and demand that they fix their poor work for free. He sent me on my way, and didn't charge me a thing for his time and the diagnostic. I really appreciate Chris' honesty, and I would definitely go back there again. It was quick, easy, and there was no BS to deal with.

My grandfather just got a new car and he gave me his C class which is a couple years old. The car was shifting kind of hard from 1st to 2nd gear (with a forward lurch and "thump" sound) in S mode. I intially took it to W.I. Simonson where we bought the car to have it looked at. W.I. Simonson sent me out with their transmission guru for a diagnostic test drive. He couldn't identify the problem at all and he said that he needed to hook it up to the computer to see what the issue was. I was astonished that the most knowledgeable mechanic at the Mercedes Benz dealership needed a computer to tell me what the problem was. After a few days, Simonson called and said that the entire transmission had been warped by leaking coolant and that it needed to be replaced in addition to the radiator, control module, etc. W.I. Simonson quoted almost $10,000 for the repair including a discount coupon offered on their website. Before I commited my grandfather to paying that INSANE amount of money on top of his already generous gift, I did some research which included numerous shops listed on yelp, and I found G&N Motors. I called several times and spoke with George, he was tremendously friendly and he sounded to me like he knew exactly what he was talking about before he had even seen the car. George sounded much more confident in his knowledge than any of the other mechanics in the area that I had consulted, so I decided to bring the car in to be looked at. At the time of the test drive George almost immediately identified the issue. George also popped the hood and inspected the car with me present. He pointed out several key factors, that I could visibly identify, which indicated the dealership hadn't done as thorough of an inspection as they had claimed. Turns out, there was no leaking coolant and George even showed me the transmission fluid to prove it. No coolant was leaking ANYWHERE inside the engine. The transmission housing had rusted (the car was always garaged near Ocean Ave. in moist ocean air and I think it might have played a role in the rust developing) and the compromised transmission housing prevented the gears from shifting smoothly. The transmission would need to be replaced. This meant that I, in fact, needed a whole new transmission, but for an entirely different reason than W.I. Simonson had wrongly diagnosed. The entire repair cost less than half of what I would have spent at the dealership. George was very helpful, his staff was great too. They're a super busy little shop, which is great for George, but when it's your turn they always make sure to give you all of their attention. G&N is a great place with a great owner and I'd higly recommend G&N Motors to anyone who is looking for a quality MBZ shop. It's been about 2 months or so since the repairs and I'm very satisfied thus far.

I had an issue with my serpentine belt on my Mercedes and George was very helpful and honest in getting it fixed quickly and cost effectively. Something that is very rare to find now a days.

Ditto the first review. George - the guy that runs G & N - is an honest mechanic. I have an '82 Benz. I've been going here for 10 years.

You just won't find a better place to get your Mercedes repaired than G&N Motors. There's no complimentary cappuccino like at the dealer but, quite frankly, I'd rather have the car fixed properly.
I took my car to the local dealer a few years back. I told them I thought the problem was a broken front sway bar mount and left it for them to repair.
After the dealer had had the car for couple of days I was told that they still didn't know what was causing the noise but that they did know that I needed $1800 worth of other repairs to the front end. Including new shocks. New shocks had been installed two months prior.
I decided to pick the car up and take it to G&N. After a quick glance under the front bumper George says, "Yup, your sway bar mount is gone - $60 - it'll take about half an hour can you wait?"
George and the G&N team really know what they're doing. They are honest, their prices are more than fair, they only use Mercedes parts and they're damn nice people.

I've been to G&N quite a few times with in the past years. I don't ever remember even the slightest bad experience. George, has always been amazingly good at what he does and needless to say his prices have been far below dealer prices as well as other competitor. I trust him completely with my E430 and never once has he recommended or tried to sell me on a service or any parts that was not necessary. He is a true one stop shop.

I own a 1989 SL with 150,000+ miles that I drive nearly every day to work. I have been going to George for more than five years and have never had any needs other than routine oil changes and general minor service issues (i.e. brake pads once). All this is according to George - he has never recommended any other service needs. Honesty really is the best business policy - he's got me for life.
