Sly and Mike are the best of all. I have been taking my car to them for more than ten years and never been disappointed. The longer you take your vehicle to them, the better they get to know it. Fair prices, prompt service, straightforward and professional yet personable. Be sure to mention if you're a AAA member. One caveat: they don't sell nor install tires but they do everything else.Can't say enough good things about Expert Auto Care.

Sly and Mike are totally trustworthy guys and they know what they are doing. I've had both simple and complicated problems squared away by them quickly and efficiently. They wont do work that is not necessary and they can even help you create a plan on what order to make repairs. They are only ones I trust to work on my cars.

I needed an oil change fast!
Expert Autocare has great reviews on Yelp and decided to give them a try. Their hours are 730am-6pm M-F. I arrived at 440pm. I was asked what type of vehicle I drove and then was told they could not help me today but come back tomorrow. The rep said the guy who can do it is leaving in 10 minutes and could not assist me.
As a new customer, I was turned off by the idea that only one guy knew how to change the oil on a Corolla.
I will not be returning tomorrow.

So I came.
Some dude greeted me,

My registration is invalid

Here's a seat for you!"
He got right on it
through the window I could see.
I got up
And took a pee.
About 40 minutes passed
And he was done.
Prices are reasonable.
I scored a home run!

New to the state, I needed a place to get my '01 Camry smog checked in order to get plates. This was the closest to my home with stellar Yelp reviews, so I walked right in.
First, it's a little hard to find for a new-comer. Thankfully, once I caught the large "Expert Auto Care" sign, I knew where to turn.
Sly was incredibly welcoming, helpful, and efficient. I didn't have my registration with me, but he was accommodating and went ahead with the smog check. His prices are posted right on the wall, which was reassuring that I was getting a fair deal.
While my car was being worked on, Sly and I chatted, and he went above and beyond any customer care I'd expect from an auto shop. The best part was that he told me about the AAA DMV, a gem of a find I had no idea existed. Needless to say, I'm forever grateful to Sly for saving me countless hours wasted at the Costa Mesa DMV.
I HIGHLY recommend Expert Auto Care to anyone in the area in need of auto work.

Sly and Michael are the best! I feared my 18-yr-old car wouldn't pass the smog inspection. I was right. But only because some other mechanic had replaced a hose with one that didn't fit. Michael showed me the reason it failed and suggested I get the correct hose from the dealer. $21 and easy to replace it myself. The repair enabled me to pass the inspection. In a day and age when honest auto mechanic seems to be an oxymoron, these guys will convince you there are mechanics you can trust! BTW, they smog diesels too.

I've taken my VW Jetta here several times - They are honest, even telling me when I don't need to do a repair. I took my car to 2 other places and was told 2 different things I needed replace, Sly told me I didn't need to replace it at all, it tested fine. They aren't out to scam you. Now that I've moved to South County I still drive to Costa Mesa to take my car to Sly, because a good, honest mechanic is really hard to find.

Sly is the BEST! The shop is not fancy but they quality of his work is first rate. His prices are very reasonable!
I first selected Expert Auto Care since he was recommended by AAA. I thought the problem was a broken master brake cylinder and it would cost $700 to $800. It turned out the the vacuum line was disconnected. He did not charge me and could have very easily charged for a master cylinder.
He is extremely honest and just tells it the way it is! He and his mechanics are ASE Certified which is a mark of excellence. Also, he does the auto maintenace and repair work for the main office of Auto Club of Southern California.
We take all four of our cars to Sly and have recommended him to all our friends.

About a year ago, I was referred to Expert Autocare by AAA for a smog check and during that visit, I observed how the owner took the time to thoroughly assist a customer with all of his vehicle's maintenance needs. I also observed that Expert Autocare has received numerous service quality recognitions. Hence, this prompted me to keep this place in mind for future service needs.
I don't regret doing so. Since, I've been back for all the routine services and a few major repairs and the customer service and competency has been outstanding!
Sly is very honest and patient. I have limited auto service knowledge and in the past, I usually feared going to auto shops because I knew I would be told false information about my car's service needs just so that I would pay extra. Yet, I've never felt this way with Sly.
I highly recommend this place.

My experience was consistent with the other great reviews.
I expected to pay a lot more than I did.
I'm a lawyer, and one that deals with scams all of the time. I see how people shade truth to create a more favorable picture. Not this guy. He's compulsively honest. He told me more than I needed to know or more than I asked to know. He was very clear when explaining what he could and could not do.
The only problem was that I thought he said he would call me when the car was done. But, he didn't, probably more my fault than his. It wasn't a big deal in comparison to getting my car running well again.
It's a relief to find a good place near my home and work so quickly and easily.

Sly is the best! I've brought my vehicle to Sly, and have had friends do the same, and Sly is a consummate professional! I have had nothing but great experiences with him, and everyone I know who has used him, feels the same way. He takes the time to explain everything that he is doing so it is very clear, and he does this without charging an arm-and-a-leg. Mechanics, more often than not, have a bad reputation, but I can honestly say that if more mechanics were like Sly, this would not be the case. If you're looking for a place to get your vehicle repaired/inspected/serviced, look no further as Sly does excellent work and allows you to rest assured knowing that you're not being taken advantage of- six stars if I could!

Sly has taken care of my domestic car since 2005 or so and he's always treated me well. I have never felt taken advantage of and always feel that I get my money's worth.

I took my car here because I my check engine light turned on and it was close to where I was living. I got the referral from the AAA website. I have to admit that I was very happy with their service they were able to diagnose the problem and gave me multiple solutions for the problem. I have to admit that it was nice to be able to talk to the man that was going to fix my car and not only that when I asked the difference between the options that I had he was very straight forward with his assessment of the parts i could choose from. At the end of the day, my car was fixed and I am pretty happy about the results. I will probably, take my car there again.

I was referred to this by shop by AAA after my vehicle overheated 20 miles from home. I didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised when Sly's diagnosis of the problem turned out to be spot on! It was late Saturday, so parts stores were closed. He promised to complete it early next week and he delivered by Monday afternoon! Seems like a very trustworthy business.

Sly is the man. I have taken all three of my different cars here I have owned and he has giving me great service every time. From an 02' Acura RSX type S, an 02' Subaru WRX, to a 96' Jeep Cherokee. He has never charged me more than I needed to pay and I usually actually end up needing less work than I thought I needed. He also gives you very thorough receipts which helps when you want to sell your car. It might be a little more expensive than some cheapo mechanic in downtown Santa Ana like Klizzera went to, but you will only spend what you need to and you will not have to go back a week or two later. Go here and you will not be dissapointed.
