I have only been here once and this is an update on my review based on what my car has experienced since coming here. I initially came in for a smog check and Allen told me I would fail since my check engine light was on. He ran the code reader and said EVAP codes came up. Either there was something wrong with my emissions or it was my gas cap. He said it would cost $20 for them to order a new gas cap and put it on. Then I would have to drive at least 100 miles during the day to see if the check engine light came back on. After driving, then to come back at the end of the day so he would do the smog check. I did what he said and then found in my manual that when my car has a loose gas cap, the check engine light will turn on. I returned and tried to ask for a refund and the receptionist said no. Silly me, I said fine and figured I would have a new, properly functioning gas cap. I paid them for their services and went about my way.
I tried out the gas cap and when I would turn it to close, it would seem to get stuck and clack the wrong sounds. I didn't want to believe that it wasn't functioning correctly but I had a gut feeling.
Eventually, I went to an O 'Reilly's to get a REAL new gas cap ($15) and even had the worker come out to show me the difference and verify that mine was broken.
OK, so why did I pay El Cajon City Smog Center to put on a broken gas cap when I could have went to an auto store and put a new one on myself?

Tried out this place for registration smog check due to the Yelp reviews. Very friendly staff, and just like the reviews stated, very fast. We were quoted 15 minutes, and we were in and out in just 10 minutes. The cost for a regular car, including cert, was $48 after the $10 Yelp check-in discount.

In and out with my synthetic oil changed in 30 minutes! A group of friendly and hard working guys. Very meticulous too, they checked around to make sure my brake pads and shocks were ok. I needed to get my vehicle smoged and I yelped star smog stations and this business popped up. I called and was told to just come in whenever and it will probably take about 20 minutes. I went in and the lady behind the counter was SUPER FRIENDLY and helped me right away. The gentleman who smoged my vehicle was friendly as well and it seriously only took 10 minutes. This Smog testing facility is amazing! I don't write reviews very often, but I feel obligated due to the tremendous satisfaction that has me on cloud nine right now. I had trouble with my OBDII not exactly being ready to read and I was so frustrated. I spoke with Allen here at the shop and he took the time to explain what my problem was. I even had a blown fuse and he changed it in two seconds without any obligation. I needed to drive my truck a certain way in order to have a proper smog and he gave me a print out to take home and attempt to fix the problem on my own. I was tight on money and appreciated the idea that Allen suggested. I was able to fix the OBDII not ready problem and Allen tested my truck for the smog test. Smog test was a pass!!!

It's hard to find a good mechanic you can trust, but this is the place! My cousin referred me here and raved about the service she received and how much money she saved. She's kind of hard to please and doesn't even live in the area so I thought, they must be good.
I called in and booked an appointment with Joy who was really friendly and accommodating. When I got there, everyone greeted me! The waiting room was clean, had a bathroom and AC. After the diagnosis, Allen came to talk to me. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to answer all my questions. He gave me a competitive quote with a fast turn time. I'm very satisfied with the level of service I received from the moment I called in to when I left! This is where I'll be coming for all car maintenance from now on. I'm super happy my cousin told me about this place.

My boyfriend and I ran over something on the freeway that damaged his car severely. They had a tow truck pick up the car and taken to the shop, then had the car repaired within the same day. They have great customer service and have a lot of knowledge on automobiles. They even showed us what was wrong with our radiator! I highly recommend this place if you want fast service!

I just wanted to give kudos for the excellent customer service and prompt service. Getting a smog isn't supposed to be fun but my visit was easy and painless. Their office manager went above and beyond to help us. The price was the best after calling around. I hate smogs and getting my car registration but if I have to do it I will definitely go back here again! They even suggested going to The Tag Stop to get my tags. The DMV sucks but because of their quick smog and suggestion I got everything taken care of in and hour and a half. I've never got everything done that quickly. I'm a happy customer.

I had been struggling with my jeep liberty for 6 months because the check engine light came on. I had been taking it to a family friend but with my permit expiring at the end of October I was running out of options that's when I looked to yelp and found el Cajon city smog center. I called and Allen helped me he said to bring the car in and I was stressing because I didn't know how I would get back to work, he told me no worries and that they could bring me back and they would call me and give me updates. By 4pm my car was ready they picked me up from work and once we got to the shop they explained why my engine light kept coming on and even did the smog test right then and there. I was able to get everything including my tags the same day. I will keep coming back they are honest reliable and they really take the time to answer all your questions. I would recommend them in a heart beat!

This is the shop to come to for all services! I brought my car in to be repaired, and they were honest and upfront with the things that was wrong with my car. They didn't try to upsell me things I didn't need , and prices were very reasonable. They saved me thousands by testing another car that I was going to purchase which turned out to be a lemon. My Evo X check engine light comes on whenever I floor my car. I took it to the Mitsubishi Service Center in El Cajon. Not only that they were unable to fine the problem to the car, they were going to charge me $125 for not finding anything wrong with it. Who would pay for that?
I took my car to El Cajon City Smog Center, and within minutes they were able to find the problems. The staff here are super friendly, and the service is fast. The price is also lower than many other places that I've checked. Especially, lower than the dealers and other big brand name service centers.
I highly recommend this place for your cars. Even if you're not sure if you want to use them, at least call them to get an opinion or a quote.

I've taken a little break from writing reviews but my experience here is well worth ending my siesta. I was shopping at Parkway Plaza when it hit me...crap, my registration/smog is due. I turned to my trusty Yelp and it led me to this little gem less than a mile away. I walked in, without an appt. and they were able to service me right away for a Smog Check. I asked if they also do oil changes since I was due for one anyway, and the young man said "Yes, we do it all!" Jackpot! The waiting room was well kept, unlike some other janky auto mechanic waiting rooms I've waited in before. A tv played some music videos and the nice gentleman up front even provided me with their wifi acct! After an effortless wait, my car was all done. I don't live around here at all, but my experience was so pleasant that i'd come back for my future automotive needs. The price was unbeatable. Great service and prices--such a rare combination to come across these days. Save yourself the time and hassle of finding a trustworthy mechanic. This place is your one stop shop.

These guys (Joy, Alan, Sin &staff) are great and super friendly! They even have a loaner car for you if you really really need to use it, I was surprised because most auto shops doesn't have that type of service . To sum it up, I was paying so much for service maintenance, oil change, etc..for my S2000 at the dealership but this auto shop does the same for me for way cheaper and quality is great and what's better and most important is that they are hella honest and will not try to tell you to replace this and that when your car doesn't need it. Nowaday, it is hard to find a mechanic that you can trust, I've found mine that I can count on. Save me lots of money and worries! Don't have to believe me, just try them out and see for yourself & you will see what I'm talking about..

Yes, you get a coupon for checking in on yelp. But in no way does that sway my review...these guys are genuinely awesome! My first impression when walking in the office was that it was super clean and welcoming. The AC was on and they even had a TV playing music videos which makes waiting for your car much less painful. Allen greeted me and he was friendly, personable, and the type of guy who truly wants to help you. My car failed the smog check then unexpectedly wouldn't start afterward. Allen and his team really went the extra mile to not only try and fix my car quickly and efficiently but also make sure I was comfortable. I felt my car AND wallet were in good hands and they had my best interest at heart, unlike many other mechanic shops that try and swindle you. I have been in retail management for a long time and I have a high standard for customer service, these guys really exceeded my expectations.
