I have to get my brakes replaced on my Jeep SRT8 and i heard from some Marines on base that he gives great deals and helps out the military. So I went in to his shop and he price quoted me about 200 dollars cheaper then the stores that i went to. He said he would replace them same day also. He was very helpful and nice to my family and like the atmosphere that is in his shop. If your about getting good deals and having your car serviced fast. Walked into Collins mufflers to get a muffler delete with straight pipes on my 2010 E60 M5. Everything was done in just under an hour and the price was more than fair. I had breaks and rotors put on my car here. The service was fast and my car drives so much better now than it did before. While I was waiting I was offered coffee and my kids were entertained by cartoons. Overall great experience. Very nice and polite group of gentlemen. I called at 3:00 pm, showed up at 4:15 and was out the door by 4:45. Quick service with no sacrifice of quality. Luckily I only needed a resonator cut and welded into my exhaust, so it was a fairly easy job for them to get done.
Good price for the work they do. I would happily recommend them to anyone if you need quality work done for a fair price.

I just got out of the shop and got a new performance muffler put in on my Bmw x1. I love the sound and they did a great job. I was expecting it too be a tiny bit louder but i think they picked the right one made for my car and it is definitely way louder than stock which is why i came here, so I appreciate that! Will be back for more modifications soon! Payed 300$ so it was a little pricy but I think it was worth it. I want to make my car louder in the future but I am enjoying it a lot for now so you might see me back for the front muffler to be swapped out like you recommended if I still want more sound. Thanks again guys!

First off. I did not buy anything or have anything installed here. And that's the point. Even without being a paying customer the service was incredible. I had a small window (needed install today) and a specific request (an electronic brake controller that required a part we had to search for) that Randy was kind enough to go out of his way to try and help me with. He called around, guided and directed me, and even offered an alternative to save me money. I will make sure I go to him for anything I ever need in the future and I hope to pay him back somehow. Hopefully letting people know like this is a start

These guys wasted a lot of my time when I didn't have time to waste. I needed a wiring harness installed on my Infiniti to allow the hitch that they installed a few months prior to tow a trailer. First they took my credit card info and scheduled me. Then I got a call back saying they couldn't get it, and it would be cheaper for me to get it myself and bring it in. I did that. At my appointment they told me they couldn't do it, that parts were missing from the sealed box. Not sure what to believe. Would rather have not wasted my time.

Let me just start of by saying WOW!
This morning I called "Collins" right when they opened and asked if they were able to do a quick simple job considering it was the Saturday. They said come on over and I did. The problem I had was with my 2011 BMW 135i, one of my exhaust hangers was bent causing my muffler to rub against the control arm and cause this annoying rattle and my exhaust tips were not aligned as well and looked bad.
Upon arriving I realized they were located in an area where I had taken a lot of cars to get worked on. Randy is the owner and is great guy, super easy to get along with! He quoted me a super good price to fix the issue. They bend it back and welded a support bracket and looked good as new! The job took about 45-60 mins (mind you even the simplest of jobs they take their time with!)
The work was amazing and Alex their mechanic does a fantastic job. They're honest and upfront no hassle and no BS! I highly recommend them to anyone wanting a simple muffler delete, a full exhaust, or anything involving the exhaust in general!
They're in a great location where restaurants are in a walking distance if your car ever takes some time and get hungry!
They have now gotten my business for life and will recommend them to all my friends!

Classic work with good result. Their work had met my expectations.
I had come in for a simple muffler replacement with a new unit I supplied as well as addition of ending pieces they had provided. They had made sure I was satisfied with their work and had made it good to meet my expectations.
The only con I am aware of is my opinion of that they could utilize a more "modern" approach to exhaust styling. Things like hiding welded exhaust hangers from sight, or tucking mufflers at the highest point for lowered cars as another example, are some details that are cherished in the automotive world; which I hope they would take advantage of in the future without the customer having to explain these details.
I have had used their services several times and they had always provided excellent work.

I found Collins Muffler completely by chance. I was getting a smog test on my vehicle & while waiting I popped into Collins Muffler to inquire about some new exhaust for my Impala SS. Randy was very straight forward & knew exactly what I wanted & then got it done as soon as my smog was done. Awesome service! So when I picked up another vehicle I wanted to remove the existing super loud exhaust on it and once again Randy knew exactly what type of sound & feel I wanted for this exhaust, and he got it done immediately. These guys are an amazing company. My daughter was diagnosed with brain cancer and we needed to get a hitch put on our car in order to take her medical wheelchair around. We bought the hitch and coordinated through a third-party service to have it installed with a local vendor (Collins Muffler & Hitch). The online service way under estimated the cost and it would've been over a hundred dollars more than we were quoted and a huge hassle to go through the third party service again. The owner, Randy, took it upon himself to correct the error from the online company and donated his time to install the hitch out of pocket. What's a amazing man and company, we are recommending Collins to all our friends and family.

At first I was just going to get the same boring canister muffler but instead went with a glasspack muffler with an angled cut pencil tip. Love it. Came in with a project for my fj cruiser. Needed a body mount chop since I put spacers in the front, my tires were rubbing hard on the body mount. I checked all over but no one seemed to want to do it for me, everyone was backed up and gave me the run around. Randy at Collins was very welcoming and was willing to do the job. It was quick and the finish was flawless. In the process I decided to pick up a muffler as well giving me an awesome deal. With in half an hour I got the muffler all sealed and tight. Everyone in the back working were nice and friendly felt like I was part of the family. I highly recommend this place to anyone who's in the market for mufflers or any fabrication work. I really dislike places like this... So they're part of an Amazon install program that charges a flat $100 fee for hitch installs. I call in to make an appointment and the guy wants to charge $50 more because it's more work! The SUV is a Mercedes Benz, and generally these types of vehicles do cost more to work on, but in some cases it doesn't. It just depends on the work to be done.
I have my hitch already and I did research beforehand. The hitch I purchased is completely bolt on with no drilling into the car's chassis. His basis for charging more was a claim that it required more work. I've even seen the install video and its something almost anyone can do at home. Unfortunately, I live in an apartment and because of school don't have the time to do this myself.
Reply to Owner:
First, Amazon does not state the amount is an estimate since you prepay for a service through their system that doesn't make much sense. Since the payment cannot be updated later by the vendor you would process it locally. It would essentially cut Amazon out of the remainder of the sale. I have a feeling they won't be cool with that.
Second, I only called about making the appointment, which Amazon instructs you to do not to get a money estimate.
Your reply only serves to show my assumptions were correct about the way you run a business. I especially like the part where you state that I "don't understand" then thank me for "understanding" the situation.
BTW PepBoys got it done in a hour (as specified in the instructions from the manufacturer and only cost me $50. So I guess I really should just say thank you since your decision made me research further and find the best price on a quality install. Thank you for NOT "understanding!"

Providing an update on my 2nd experience at Collins Muffler & Hitch.
I recently installed a diffuser and needed to get my exhaust tips adjusted. As always, Randy and Alex (his assistance) delivered. Because the diffuser was aligned differently, the exhaust tips were a bit off. Randy and Alex spent the time re-welding the pipes to make the fitment PERFECT. And when I say perfect, I do mean it.
Kudos to this team standing by their business philosophy and doing things right the first time instead of taking shortcuts. A car can be your second most expensive asset you own, so why not make it look like a piece of art? Take it here, you won't be disappointed.

Excellent work and customer service! I have taken multiple cars here and have never been disappointed. Work is done on time and as promised. Just stopped by Collins today because I had an exhaust hanger that cracked in half and needed it welded back together. Pulled up in back and was greeted by 2 gentlemen who were working on another vehicle.
He immediately welded the hanger back together and I was out of there in less than 3 minutes!

I was looking to do a muffler mod for my 2009 BMW 650i to make it sound more aggressive without having to install a new exhaust system that would cost well over a thousand bucks. I came to this shop, because of the good yelp reviews. Well the customers were right! Randy the owner is very personable and helpful. His assistant Alex is extremely nice too and does excellent work. He did a very neat and clean job in cutting out my resonators and welding in an X bar. That did the trick for the least amount of money. Car sounds sick when I'm on the gas and quiet when not. Also there's no drone, which I'm very happy about. They are quick and don't make you wait long. I highly recommend this shop. Good people, good service and a clean shop!

Wow, I guess there are really good people still left I this world. I called all these local shops in south OC asking that I needed a simple task--just to MIG weld an exhaust hanger that has broken off on my daily beater. Other shops said that it was too late in the day (which was 4:00) to come in, or simply just didn't answer their phone. Not Randy. He was more than accommodating; he knew it was me when I drove up, yet I've never even met him, just only a few hours earlier on the phone. Price was more than reasonable, I would and will recommend these guys any day. Cool guys, they are.

I went to this shop over 10 years ago and had a good experience. After calling around to several shops i decided to go back to Collins since they had the most reasonable price to install the new Cats on my M-3.
I called Randy and he suggested i bring it in so they can take a look at it. I brought in the M-3 and the Cats that i had purchased earlier.
After checking it out Randy stuck to the estimate he gave me over the phone and Alex began the installation with his assistant.
This shop has the best prices and most honest professional people in the industry.
I was impressed by how Alex asked me how i wanted the installation to look and explained precisely how he was planning on installing the Cats to fit like OEM. He even showed me the welds after i expressed concern about leaks upstream of the cat that happened when i had a job done at another shop in O.C.

Came in to have an aftermarket muffler welded onto my old truck after my neighbors complained about my straight pipe hurting their poor wittle ears. Called an hour after they opened, they said to just come in. Parking was a nightmare since theres basically 10 spots for 10 shops. They just had me pull right onto the lift. They had it done in no time, and welded a hanger to keep the muffler in place and a turn down tip to keep my axle safe, all for free. Owner is a great guy and i love this shop.

Just had a catalytic converter installed for my mom's Toyota Corolla 2001 and was so relieved to have been referred to Randy at Collins Muffler & Hitch. I explained to him that my mom's car is old, but she loves it and needs it to pass smog. He told me to bring it in and that he would take care of me. Once I arrived, him and his technician were expecting me. We discussed what was needed, the prices of the catalytic converters I could buy, and then agreed upon what work would be done. His prices were not only competitive with some of the best prices I found online, but his included installation as well. Within about 30 minutes, the catalytic converter was installed. I am so glad that I drove all the way from San Clemente to come here. Randy and his team were super friendly and professional. I felt like they really cared about me and did everything they could to ensure that I was happy. I highly recommend them for any work that needs to be done on an exhaust system--totally worth the drive no matter where in Orange County you are.

I recommend Collins Mufflers to everybody. The owner and employees are very knowledgeable. They are honest and reliable whether you drive up in a high end vehicle or have an unusual dilemma! This shop fixed the trailer hitch for my father's power wheelchair and scooter so that he is able to have his freedom and independence despite having health issues. If you want the job done right with professinalism and skill, come see Randy and Dan. Ive been to a lot of exhaust shops over the years and these guys are by far the best. Their prices are reasonable and the quality is second to none.
I had a exhaust leak, severe rattle and a resonator that needed deleting on my 350z. Everything got fixed and I am extreamly happy. When you get there, tell em Andrew with the 350z sent you.
UPDATE: Going to have to update this to 1 star, here's why:
First, the guy that I like to work on my car is now gone, not sure why but the owner dodged my questions. The old guy was really good and I trusted him. I hvant tried the new guy out and I probably wont risk it.
Second, I wanted some more custom work done and I felt the price was "ok" I wanted the to add piping from the resinator and have them fashion tips. (I took off my muffler)
He wanted 300 bucks for the job. I thought it was a little pricey so I asked him what the break down was. He said that tips were atleast 60 bucks each and 120 together. So that means labor is about 180. When I told him I wanted to use my own tips ( I have a certain design in mind) He got a little frustated. He gave me dozens of reasons why I should buy his tips. However, I he didnt have nor had the ability to order anything I liked and I already found a set of tips online that I really liked.
He then said, "Well, if you do bring your own, its only going to knock 25 bucks off the 300." Seriously? Do I look stupid? If I bring my own, the price should go from 300 to 180 seeing how I am not buying parts. He even admitted and said, "I need to make money." Well guess what buddy, I wanna save money and get what I like. Its MY MONEY and its MY CAR and if dont want to buy your damn tips you better respect that or you can go pound sand!!!!!
So with my rant concluded, I felt like I was being treated like an idiot and he was trying to pull a fast one. Now, instead of going to him like I usally do for all my exhaust needs, I'll be shopping around for a better price and someone who is willing to accomidate their clients.

This is where to go if you want the work done right and proper. I brought a couple of aftermarket mufflers to be installed on my car. Randy answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns. When someone does the right thing, you gotta give a shout out.
I had been told by a honda dealer in henderson, NV that my 2002 CRV needed a catalytic converter and it was going to cost me $2K. I took my car to Randy, and he tested it. He said that the "CODE" did NOT say the catalytic converter was bad, it said that the oxygen regulator was bad. They fixed it for less than $500 - I'm so happy I took my car to Randy... Had a great experience at Collins. Came in on a random Friday morning wanting to a) fix my "Check Engine" issues and b) get a throatier sound out of my truck's exhaust. Was greeted promptly and genuinely and everything was explained and laid out in front of me. They were great to talk to and get to know and their prices were LOWER than what I had been quoted by another Yelp-top-rated shop in the area. Overall great experience and will keep coming back. Keep up the good work guys!

Honesty, and integrity go a long way. Will happily do business with them again.
My son bought an aftermarket exhaust system to give his Mustang a new growl. There was a shop closer to my house, but I chose Collins because of their no hassle willingness to do the work, and many years of experience. They gave me an estimate, and though the job took longer than they expected, stood by it. These guys are perfectionists. The hanging, H-pipe welding, and alignment of the chrome tips was done meticulously. The new exhaust system looks as good as it sounds.
Randy admits he loves what he does for a living, and it shows. He treats his customers well.
I'll be back when it's time for brakes.

I recently visited Randy's shop for an exhaust and brakes. Wow I'm truly amazed at the work and the fast work that was done here. I'm so happy with the work that's was done. They were the cheapest quote on a catalytic converter (stolen from my 93 pick up).
I didn't want to drive to my regular mechanic with the noise. They were closer and 33% less than a repair shop chain. Had it in stock and was installed / welded while I waited.

Good service, Good price, and completed within 45 mins of me walking in the door. You cant ask for much more than that. My 350z was having exhaust issues and I was looking at over $350 for the exhaust parts, but after getting a quote from colins muffler of parts and labor done same day for $350 I left a very happy customer.

Avoid this place. I got over charged by about 100-200 bucks to get some exhausts installed only to realize afterwards that I had paid wayyy to much. I should have done more research on pricing before I went in but was stupidly trusting after reading the good reviews on here. I got a single in single out muffler with a 4 inch tip and was charged 350. The muffler was a knock off flowmaster brand mind you. Save your self the money and trouble, go to a legit muffler shop, these guys are a bunch of scammers who should be put out of business. The guy that installed my muffler even had the audacity to obnoxiously ask what my parents do because I have a nice truck that I worked very hard for and earned on my own. AVOID!!!!

Went in about a month ago expecting to pay around 150 to get my exhaust installed. Was very surprised and happy when told I'd only be charged 100. This was before they discovered the exhaust I wanted installed was in way more pieces and a lot more difficult to instal than they thought. It ended up taking the guy twice as long as he expected to instal it so the price should have been around 200 250. However I was still only charged 100: a phenomenal deal! Also even though it was a bolt on exhaust the guy welded it to make sure it was on perfect and would stay on. Overall they did a fantastic job and i am more than happy with the new exhaust. I would for sure recommend this place to anyone who wants a great quality job done for not too high of a price

I bought a used cat-back exhaust for my G35 and was looking for a shop to do the install in the Mission Viejo area. Not only was Collins open but Randy said I could swing in even though they were closing in 30 minutes. He had me pull right in the shop to start the install. He allowed me hang out in the shop and we talked about cars the entire time. Not only is Randy a great guy, he knows his stuff and his cars. He did an excellent job on my full exhaust install for a small charge compared to any other shop around. If I could give him 6 stars I would. Thanks again Randy...I'll be back for any other work and send all my recommendations your way.

My Honda Accord V6 had a worrisome mystery noise that was growing worse. My regular mechanic found a hole in the flexible pipe, and said that it was the likely culprit. I chose Collins based on great online reviews. When I called, they were friendly and gave me a ballpark estimate and time frame to replace the flexible pipe. I brought it down there right away. They put the car up on the lift and showed me the hole, and explained that they couldn't make the noise happen on the lift, so replacing the flexible pipe may not actually fix the noise. I had them replace it anyway, since ruling it out seemed like the logical place to begin. They needed to use a bigger size pipe since it is a V6, but didn't charge me extra for it. After the repair, the noise was still there. They spent another hour and a half going over it with a fine tooth comb. Finally, a crack in the heat shield, only visible with a mirror, revealed itself as the cause of the noise. Best of all, they fixed it at no additional charge! They earned a loyal customer that day (well, 2 - my husband also). It is refreshing to deal with a technician who cares about finding and fixing the problem and considers excellent customer service to be a good use of their time. We'll definitely be back.
